Politics › Re: Abba Kyari: Was Kemi Olunloyo Right About Death In Aso Rock? by eodavids(m): 8:41am On Apr 18, 2020 |
ValCon888: Kemi was right.
But the important takeaway from Kyari's death is that your viral load matters. If you are talking to 3 people who have the virus, your viral load will be 3x higher than someone who's just talking to 1person who has the virus. That's why some people have mild symptoms and others have severe symptoms.
Once you're infected, your immune system will begin to fight the virus. If your viral load is low, your immune system can succesfully fight the virus before it multiplies. But if your viral load is high, the virus overwhelms your immune system and the next thing is death.
If you're like Abba kyari who had a high viral load and was immunocompromised, then death is inevitable. Even with a ventilator.
And that's the real reason social distancing is important. Not just to prevent you from contacting or infecting others with the virus, but to give yourself a fighting chance if you're infected. I feel for the family and well wishers of Abba Kyari. TAKE HEART AND MAY THE DEPARTED R.I.P. When the news broke that Abba Kyari was suffering Corona Virus as a result of his trip to London and other European Country for Petroleum related functions, I concluded that is was avoidable. Avoidable because Nigeria has a Minister of state Petroleum (Timiprey Silva) that should have been officially obliged to represent Nigeria in functions of that nature, considering the fact that The President (PMB) is the substantial minister, Petroleum. Abba going for functions of petroleum related must be (perhaps) to represent Buhari, but except there is an administrative problems, the minister of state (Silva) ought to have represented his principal, not the chief of staff (Kyari) As it is now, Timiprey Silva and his well wishers who may have been bitter over the above highlighted inconsistency will now, be grateful after all. Life is ironic at times. |

dre11: https://thenationonlineng.net/police-dismantle-roadblocks-desert-lagos-roads/ The Federal and state government should know that police presence is not just to make sure citizens do nor move about. More important is the need for police to be available all nooks and cranies of the locked citiesnto prevent hoodlums from taking over the reigns in the communities. WE HAVE ALSO MADE A CASE FOR AMOTEKUM TO COMPLEMENT THE POLICE EFFORTS. THAT'S VERY NECESSARY, OTHERWISE, HOW CAN THEY SHOWCASE THEIR RELEVANCE IF NOT AT A TIME LIKE THIS? |
Politics › Re: FG Excludes Lagos, Borno, Delta From Cash Transfer As N/W Gets Biggest Share by eodavids(m): 9:21am On Apr 16, 2020 |
philip0906: The 10 biliion was not a social support program but rather to help them stop the spread, which is what every reasonable federal government should do, after all, Lagos state contributes the most to the federal, so giving out 10 billion, is nothing.
Now you're rolling out cash transfers which is a direct way of the masses feeling the support of the central government, you decided to ignore Lagos state and head to Katsina state? Look at the states that are topping the list, core northern states. There is absolutely NO excuse for that madness. You do have a great point. The problem stems from politics. Purely politics. They need not use political calculations in this instance. Not necessarily should the government apply vote-begging principles in times like this. PDP/APC, North/South interests is not necessary in this case, but no, they rather use the wrong considerations all the time. Nigerian interest which carries no ethnic/political colourations has been ditched. It shall be well. |
Politics › Re: FG Excludes Lagos, Borno, Delta From Cash Transfer As N/W Gets Biggest Share by eodavids(m): 8:50am On Apr 16, 2020 |
philip0906: This is insanity. How can the epic centre of the whole thing, that has been under complete lockdown with millions of inhabitants be excluded?
Katsina state, a useless and valueless state adding next to zero value and not even the epic centre, is topping the list.
What was the rationale behind that? Let's be fair to the Buhari led Federal government, particularly with regards to Lagos state: The Fed. Gave Lagos state #10,000,000,000 at the beginning of this epidemic. None other States got that huge support. As for Borno, it has not been hit yet, compared to the southern states and lockdown has not been in force in Borno compared to Delta where classes and deaths has been occurring severally because of the lockdown as people continue to suffer from the resultant hardship. So, Delta is the only state reasonably left behind if this thread is to be taken serious. Lagos has something to hold unto, Borno has not felt the covid-19 effect compared to Delta state. |

I was perplexed to hear or robberies within Lagos areas like Agege, Yana paja, etc. People call out the police for not responding proactively. We all know the hand or the police may be understaneably full, considering their understaffed nature. So, its expected that Amotekun will fill the void and complement police roles which our conventional police has not been able to carry out. |
Crime › Amotekun: Time To Showcase Relevance by eodavids(op): 9:24am On Apr 13, 2020 |
The creation of the security outfit "Operation Amotekun" some months ago was greeted with much support and suspicion.
To those who feel the southwest states of Nigeria has suffered a fair share of the nations insecurity and needs to do all that's necessary to have peace and security in urban and rural areas: 'Amotekun is a welcome development".
On the other hand, those that feels Nigerias security should not be, at all, allowed for state/regional participation in the form Amotekun represents "nothing new other than the federal government controlled security outfit should be allowed".
Fast forward to mid April 2020, we are beginning to see the need for Amotekun tonrise and prove to all Nigerians that its establishment was the right move after all.
With lockdown across many states especially Lagos and Ogun, the citizens have come under attacks by community criminals who enter houses and rob innocent people of money, gadgets and food items. Amotekun should be mobilized to tackle this particular malady.
Police alone, may not be efficient in securing every Nigerian street and quarters as thing get tougher and rough. Criminality is known to rise whenever people face hardship.
Therefore, the societies will have to, in addition to the Nigerian police, create more vigilantes like Amotekun and any other names you may call them across States and regions. |

IMASTEX: You just succeeded in expanding my point. And according to you some white folks still went out like the black folks which isn't doubtful because one can't expect 100% good behaviours from humans regardless of race but the ratio is also important. Still I didn't see the white complaining of the consequences of their actions nor blaming blacks as they also suffered casualties. Black Americans are always quick to play the race card whenever their attitude get back to them. Simple!
Note: I'm not also saying that racism has been totally eradicated. But on this very subject, I think they should blame themselves. Your point is genuine, considering that the current Surgeon General of U.S.A. is AA and one of the White House Taskforce key personnels. He wouldn't be there to have his community discriminated against. |

Valid and verifiable information are on the internet. Your comments shows you lack basic scientific knowledge about Viruses and how they interact with their hosts. Take sometime to read about Viruses and Viral infections....you will understand better.
But then, if you are a student of Economics, using your basic knowledge should also tell you the Economic implications of shutting down Lagos (Nigeria's biggest commercial State), Abuja (Nigeria's Capital territory, the seat of power), and Ogun state...Not to mention States where there are restrictions and partial lockdown.
You think Government will be so foolish and happy to lockdown her pot of soup based on mere propaganda and falsehood You think they are happy with impending recession starring at their faces You think organisations are happy to stop working You think intending tsunami of massive job lose, pay cut that is hitting the world and already started hitting Lagos is a good thing for anyone to desire
If all these my analogy doesn't sink...then I am sorry, I can't help you. CoVID19 is as real as the air we breathe in...Stay Safe..Pray or make a good wish this thing should be over very very soon. The aftermath of it, if it lingers, not just on the health of the populace, but the long run ECONOMIC IMPACT is not what any country in the world desires. Thanks op. It baffles me why some individuals continue to insist that "covid-19 is nothing but scam" No one needs to die in order to realize the virus is real. #stay safe |

Cardiac problems. Marijuana increases blood clotting, which in turn can increase the risk of heart attacks and arrhythmias.1 Neurological issues. Smoking marijuana overstimulates the THC receptors in the brain; this can result in a change in sensations/perception of one’s environment, a change in the perception of time, impaired/slowed thought processes, and impaired muscle movement. It can also lead to psychiatric complications include loss of touch with reality (psychosis) and strong but mistaken beliefs (delusions).2 Respiratory problems. Smoke in any form has a negative impact on the health of the respiratory system and this includes marijuana smoke. Research has shown that marijuana smoke contains many of the same toxins as tobacco smoke, including some that cause cancer. Research has linked marijuana smoking to increased risk of respiratory infections such as bronchitis and increased coughing and phlegm production.3 Negative impacts on pregnancy. Research has linked the use of marijuana use during pregnancy with negative outcomes for the exposed newborn, including physical problems like low birth weight and cognitive problems such as learning and attention deficits later in life.4 Marijuana can lead to addiction. It is estimated that around 10% of users will become addicted to this drug; however, if an individual began smoking during adolescence, that number rises to 16%.5 Beauty and Brain (B+B) |
