Having said that, I am telling you that from the past, over 90% who took loan ...japa. Around 10 years ago or more in Lagos, there is a program called "Yes Agric". Lagos State trained farmers and put them in farm villages. One is in Epe. The first set were given money after training, and they almost all took off to different countries. Lol. The next set were not giving money, but they were set up in the farm villages and given all assets they need with installment payment of expenditure. Even the loan Dr Adeshina (Minister ot Agric during Jonathan's tenure) gave out to farmers, they didn't give out money for all. They had vendors who supplied farmers all assets, and they gave farmers current expenditure instalmentally. So, think about that. I don't even recommend going for this kind if the opportunity arises again because those vendors supplied fake products. Lol. And some of them started going to loan takers to collect some percentage and they gave them the money instead of supplying them with assets. Lol. See how disgusting Nigerians are. Government had to go again...spend more money to start checking vendors. Checking corruption is an unnecessary waste. When the money already allocated finished, they stopped the program and did not put it in the budget again. That's how they killed that too. Lol. Na government kill am or na people kill am?

Yes, you are right...there is "man know man" loan system. Let me shock you. CBN initiated a loan via bank of industry one time and producers with equipment worth substantial amount can access loan for running their businesses. And they have for Agric too. Here is the trick. If you go to any bank for loan, they will ask around minimum of 25% per interest per year. And CBN decided to do single digit, meaning that the max is 9.9%. That's good news. Do you know what happened? CBN officials in charge of the loan started collecting 10% bribe from applicants. And they set out marketers who go about getting them anyone who can give 10% of what he is asking. So, the person pays 19.9% instead of 25% to 30% to commercial or merchant banks. Lol. Even the person is not qualified due to his nature of business, those guys have guys in CAC and they can quickly set up a business for the person and bla bla bla. Na so oil and gas boys took all the loans that aren't meant for them becos it pays them. That's why they are even stronger and the cabals are stronger daily.

Is government the CBN workers? Is government the marketers set out to do the illegal runs. Is government the bad people in CAC. See, Nigeria is a messed up nation. Everyone is almost mad here. Period.

My point is that loan givers always try to find ways to eliminate those who are likely not to pay back. I want to believe our government is presently using analytical methods to do this, but no one needs to use any statistical methodology to know you are not qualify.

Go abroad and understand the principle of credit score. This allows you to gain a better understanding of debt. The poor always have a low credit score, which prevents them from obtaining additional credit, whereas the wealthy deliberately borrow and repay in order to gain access to additional credit. Think about this. It means that the moment you show you are not doing so well, you aren't qualified. Period. You have to show that you don't desperately need the money, but you just want to take it as a leverage. If not, you no qualify..

I have been farming for about 15 years now , geting a loan to increase the farm size is a problem.
Last time I think around 2020 or so I try apply for NIRSAL loan. They took my application money up till now I never here from them.is a shame that government are not supporting real farmers.
However I have been able to farm over 55 acres of casava farm, 5 acres of plantain farm and 10, acres of palm farm without loan from anyone.
We are heading for a new season to start farming. I will appreciate if government can give me loan.
I went to other private microfinance bank for loan but what they are willing to give me for a start is very poor.
Honestly I am bigger than a loan of 500k or 1m.

Oga, government in Nigeria operates on the basis of priorities set by political godfathers. This is what is killing us. The desperation in this post raises a red flag. You feel you are getting old. You need to make it fast. You need to move your family out. Lol....To be honest, the government is correct in discontinuing loan and grant programs for new and non well established farmers. Lol.

To get a loan, you must show that you have assets to use as collateral. If you can demonstrate that you have N300 million in assets, you can obtain a loan ranging from N100 million to N200 million. This is how it works. You japa or you default in paying interest, you forfeit your assets.

How many farmers are well-established and can demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that they will put the money to good use?

The probability is high that you are presently working on leased land. You are thinking of expanding to 200 acres on rented land and with loan. I laugh in Swahili.

My recommendation
If you sell raw cassava, stop it. Process it to garri, store, and sell gradually. You will make more profit from 55 acres selling garri than selling 200 acres raw cassava harvest.

If you are already selling garri, find a way to brand it and retail everything. You will make 20 times more of what 200 acres raw cassava will give you.

Tinubu's new VAT applied to you. They want you to go into processing because that is where money is. And find a way to brand your products. 55 acres of land is enough to make more than enough to send your family to anywhere you want to.

Judging by all I have read here, oga...you no qualify at all for any loan or grant. If you need suggestions on how to go about my recommendations, ask for help in this forum. Search the threads for old threads. Tons of information you can use.

I am confident Tinubu will win in 2027 by any means necessary, and he will maintain a tight grip on Nigeria. I feel (may be wrong) he will eventually be the one to pave the way for the return of regional governments in Nigeria because he does not want the north to take away the power that he will continue to accumulate for Lagos. The bill is absolutely OK, even VAT. This bill demonstrates greed in many states, which is not sustainable. How can a state be unable to generate enough income for itself while relying on other states to feed it? It is absolutely unacceptable.

The bill may not be perfect, but it has sparked a conversation that will go a long way. Unsustainable states should consider merging with the ones from which they originated, if possible. The era of states collecting more money because of their large population is over. It is all about efficiency now.

Well I get your point and you're right also. I grew up in Ebute Metta/Yaba. I know these places so well. I'm just saying that Gbagada is closer if you look at it well.

I did not argue with you about which is closer between Herbert Marcaulay and Gbagada. All I did was tell you why I prefer the former. And I did say that even though Costain is the closest and I have a family home there, I might not take it.

OK. Let me rank my preferences from most to least preferred.

2. Surelere (Bode Thomas, Ogunsanya down to Ogunlana). I can easily climb the bridge in Costain and get to the island quickly. But I will be cautious about the traffic. What applies to Herbert Marcauly applies to this location as well.

5. Gbagada (I will have to really check very well for a good spot).
6. Ikeja to Maryland (I will not attempt to connect the Island here. Only proximity to the international airport and high-valued properties exist here.


To be honest, I think Number 3 is the most affordable and underrated. I can easily connect WAEC, YabaTech, and UNILAG. In addition, Ozone in Sabo is a good weekend recreation spot. Suya spots there too. If I am near Harvey Road, I can easily put on my workout clothes and jog around the neighborhood...just enter different cool streets and pull out to Ozone...and then Muritala Muhammed road. Alternatively, I can easily run from Yaba to Oyingbo along Muritala Muhammed road via the pedestrian walkway beside the BRT lane. Do you know why I love this? The land on that side of the road is part of the railway compound. No sellers with kioks because the railway corporation forbids them.

If I am going to anywhere very far in Lagos and I don't want any wahala and train reaches the places, I can easily get on board at either Alagomeji terminal or oyingbo.

Let me stop here. I can keep going on why this area is just perfect. It is so underappreciated, but believe me, guys are already making it one of the areas where smart investors live and tech guys operate from. That area also has excellent Internet connectivity. Honestly, the place is fantastic for a variety of reasons.

Ypu can connect Ojuelegba and Oyingbo easily (those two newly constructed bridges that prevent motorists from passing through the railway eradicate traffics there on most days...though there can still be issues there) and then move along Western Avenue. Before you know it, you are at the National Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium in less than 5 mins if you move on a day there is no traffic. And just 2 mins further, you have reached the National Theater at Iganmu. Can you see that this area connects everywhere? So many good activities I have shown you. This is the real place to enjoy Lagos if you are self employed and enjoy your time. This area is good for taking your family out every weekend. So many good spots to relax and catch fun. Hahaha! Lest I forgot...just at Casino, there is Rowe Park for mini trainings and sports if you don't want to go to the National Stadium or Teslim Balogun. 2 stadia and one standard sport center. Let me burst your head...just drive a bit further from Yaba and enter Ojuelegba...if there is traffic, enter Surulere via Ogulana drive...and you can navigate to Lagos Teaching University Hospital easily.

Like I said, I don't drive cos taking Uber or Bolt is more efficient.

I have a family house around Costain, and you can take Carter bridge which is even closer than Gbagada and Oworo. That place is the real center of Lagos. As in, you are in CMS in 5 minutes and will be at Borny camp before you close your eyes. Sure, I don't mind Gbagada at all. And I do not mind Costain, but there is a reason for streets close to Herbert Marcaulay. If you own property in that area, there is a jackpot worth slightly less than Lekki. That place is the tech hub of Lagos also. Do you remember when Mark Zerkaburg came here and ran down the street? Think about it. That place is quiet. Let me give you an extremely quiet location where you can count the number of people and cars. Go check Harvey Road and adjacent streets. So peaceful and quiet. Even as Yaba was crazy and noisy in those days, that area was so quiet. Very few people know this area. I have a friend who has a family house on three plots, so they have a large garden. Guy, that is a place we rest and meditate. Very peaceful.

In addition, if you purchase a property there and use it for Airbnb, you will attract good customers. Gabgada too can be used but very noisy for me. Magodo is good. No doubt.

Live on the Island if you don't value your life.

My point is that those who praise teaching hospitals have no idea how bad and ineffective they are now. Yes, I understand that they are teaching hospitals at the top, but many of them are completely useless.

Anyway, if you have the money, here's how to do it. I believe there are private wards in some of these teaching hospitals where you can pay a high fee and receive special attention. You may also want to find experts in the field you want to treat and inquire about their private practice locations. You should consult these doctors and use their private hospitals. Many of these doctors from various teaching hospitals work at prestigious private clinics.

The mistake was that the op did not find a good consultant who works with the Lekki Clinic. Most likely, no consultant at the hospital he visited can handle his case. If he had found two "bad asses" consultants in the area needed and then located the private hospitals they work for, this problem might have been resolved.

If you walk into a hospital expecting to get the best care in Nigeria, you are in for a long wait. You should conduct thorough research, find out where experts are, and find a way to obtain their services where they practise privately. If not, you will be dead before you know what is happening.

I have witnessed world-class surgeries at private hospitals like Redington and St. Nicholas, both in Lagos. Mecure is the best diagnostic center I know of, and they used to schedule eye surgeries performed by "bad ass" Indian doctors. I recall an elderly man in Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) who was on the verge of losing his eyesight due to glaucoma. Those people claimed they could not operate it but could manage it, and they had been doing so for three years, but it was getting worse, and the old man had lost about 95% of his sight at the time. Fortunately, one of his children contacted one of my cousins, who then called me to see if there was any way out. I called our family doctor, who started asking about potential solutions. So the doctor called me back and told me that some "bad ass" Indians were already on a 10-day working visa in Nigeria in Mecure. Na so old man was rushed there. The doctors performed a surgery that LUTH claimed could not be done. Lol. The funny thing is that the old man spent only two hours there and returned home with his eyes bandaged. The next day, the old man's bandage was removed, and he was dancing around the room, which he could see clearly. The surgery was almost painless and successful. Well, the surgery did not fully reverse the condition, and the old man has been applying eye drops to reduce the pressure in his eyes, but they saved the eyes which could have gone blind. Is this not better? The old man pulled a call to me. If you hear blessings coming out of old papa? I was saying amen...amen....amen. At the end of the call, old man bursted into tears and was saying..."I can see again clearly". That was when I realise that blindness is a bad thing. In Jesus' name, I pray that Elon Musk and others who are working to restore sight to the blind will succeed.

If you want to die quickly, simply walk into Nigerian teaching hospitals without conducting thorough research. If you have the money, do your research and find the right guy to treat you. There are still some excellent doctors here. These guys go around. They work in several places to make a decent living because teaching hospitals pays so little. I respect some of those guys. They are in high demand among reputable private hospitals. And once they know you can pay, they will show you the sophisticated equipment that is still available. And if you need to move abroad, they will tell you. This is why it is critical to find the right person in a timely manner so that you can begin treatment. If you do not get it right, you are almost like an experiment subject.
