elampiro: You see, I was the number one fan who ran pages here stating why we should buy Aubameyang over Griezmann, and even preferred Lukaku over Greizman.
If Greizman comes next season and perform, they would want to ridicule me match after match for stating my genuine observation. They will say because of Rooney. Hahaha! That's why I'm always silent on transfers. |

elampiro: We have played over 20 matches this season, and we have only played our striker at half line against about four teams - Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Don't over exaggerate this bus parking and playing style. We have been one of the most attacking teams in the league. Even against those four teams, we scored 3 goals and created dozens of chances. But Lukaku did not score.
We were not even holding him for not scoring, but some other things he should have done to help the team.
My first reaction after the game was to simply quote someone who observed his poor overall play by commenting under his quote "I don tire for Lukaku". That was because I defended him a week before. If Lukaku has played about 20 games already and has scored the number of goals he has scored already, is that not OK for someone that just joined the team and a new coach? He hasn't been as good as we need him to be but we need to also pay attention to what is happening to the team whenever we play. You think we have been scoring 3-4 goals in a match and Lukaku has not been instrumental? |

sinizia: I think you're right. Last season when we're linked with Grizzy, I wasn't among those that wanted him that much. I rather wanted us to get a TOP striker first and take care of positions like LB, RW, DM and AM before SS. Meaning I believed that with a young TOP quality striker, and our wing-forwards contributing to goals, we needed an AM the most rather than an SS. sinizia: I think Mourinho knowing him for the type of coach he is, is the one that encourages Ukaku to work hard for the team instead of usually being in the CF position to score goals. He's always praising Ukaku's defensive work rate which tells me Mourinho has his style written over it. Mourinho is the one IMHO, either through his tactics or encouragement, that has gotten Ukaku spending more time outside the 18-yard box instead of inside it. Exactly! I hope to see some adjustments from the coaching staff that will allow our players do what they know how to do best |

Another website (not given here) highlighted his shortcomings in the match like his delay with Pogba's pass and the miss from close range. I go swear for you o. The chances he created nko? |

We'll need a great performance from Ukaku if we go get anything from the city game, make yesterday goal work wonder for hin confidence. Yea Shaw was great yesterday. He didn't look unfit at all but like somebody raring to play. I hope Jose feels same way too. |

sinizia: I worded my post back there wrongly. I meant score "easy chances" or "strikers goals" like Elampiro would call it. Look at what Morata missed last night, it's that sort of miss that would've caused chaos on this thread. Guaranteed that ALL strikers miss chances, but some chances are so huge that when strikers miss them you'll be wondering how they made it to professional football. Lukaku has had his fair share of big chances misses, same thing that made us angry about our strikers last season. It's why Pogba had about 4 or 5 of a would-be assists denied for him last season.
Ukaku needs to work on his scoring ability, IMHO. Occasionally top strikers misses these kind of big chances which is perfectly normal. Elampiro even brought a stat to prove this. They can only get better when they continue to get more and not playing from the midfield or as the SS instead of the CF and that is my point |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 9:11am On Dec 06, 2017 |
Sinizia we need someone that can spot a run and release those kind of diagonal defence splitting passes. Pogba needs a partner in the middle. Lukaku Rashford Martial Lingard and even the midfielders can share in the goals if they make the runs like they have been doing. They just need more people to spot the run before the defence recover |

sinizia: It's either we get an SS to score goals for us like Griezmann, or we get a creative AM like Silva or Ozïl to unlock defence, we can't have both. Well I think we need more defence unlockers. Everyone can contribute to the goal scoring |

is looking for space not more realistic? You misunderstood me or I probably misunderstood sinizia. I thought his looking for space was to score goals |

sinizia: Elampiro's opinions on Ukaku has nothing to do with Rooney. Elampawa might be a hardened Rooney fan, but his criticism of Ukaku is borne out of his desire to see Ukaku do well especially when chances are presented to him. We all want Ukaku to do well, sometimes I feel it's out of frustration, especially seeing other strikers score easily, that makes us react to Ukaku's misses. But Rooney has nothing to do with it. Nah other strikers don't score easily. Look at all the attacking teams and compare their strikers output with Lukaku. I can't begin to mention all the strikers, home and abroad, but the difference is not what we paint it to be. Lukaku link up play has been good. He has kept the ball rolling for most of the goals we have scored recently. His goals will come if he stays in the box but can he afford to? |

sinizia: I don't know if he's the messiah we are longing for, but he played well for me last night. I love his darting runs which if seen by an AM like KDB can lead to goals. He's fast, a bit skillful, doesn't have a poor first touch and makes move into the 18-yard box. If played behind a striker like Ukaku, he'll flourish because Ukaku can drag defenders out giving him the perfect opportunities to sneak in behind and wreck major havoc. We don't just need someone that will be looking for space, we also need him to create spaces for others like Silva |

elampiro: The Mirror Lukaku 7 Rashford 8
Redrants Lukaku 8 Rashford 9
I did not see anyone single rating sight that put Lukaku above Rashford. They were unanimous in stating Rashford caused CSKA all sort of trouble from the start. But to some here, Rashford was the reason Lukaku was not having stats. That's painful to my ears. Between Rashford and Lukaku, who is expected to have energetic runs, attempting to beat defenders? Rashford of course but his final passes need some improvements |

elampiro: You have an agenda. Did Lukaku not miss an empty net from two yards? Was he not slow to react to Pogba's perfect ball?
But when I read this thread, I saw where people were blaming Rashford when the scores stood at 0-0 and 0-1. Rashford who had a far better night than Lukaku. Just because there was an argument, people shifted blame to the young lad. The only ball Rashford could have scored was a poor attempt at goal. But it was still an attempt.
Good Lukaku has scored. Let’s see how it helps his confidence. See I don't watch match alone, so I hear what people say about our players. Even other fans. You have been watching with people that don't know ball and it's affecting you, change your crowd |

dopeJemi: honestly, I wasn't carried away by his early season form, Why? because of the quality of his goals, most were just too easy, though "easy" doesn't mean it can't be missed, I still believe Lukaku's best goal for United in the EPL came against West Ham, his opener.. I am not taking anything away from his quality though, he can be deadly no doubt but I am still not a 100% convinced about his overall style of play, I wanted Aubumeyang though
I Hope Lukaku comes good in the end, with the right set up, he should I wasn't excited when Lukaku was announced, and it would have been the same for any other striker. I was more concerned about the RW and our midfield. If Mkhi had continued with his early season form we won't be having this discussion. Aubumeyang will struggle too because we hardly play fast attacking game, just once in a while it happens. He will have to depend on his individual brilliance to get something for himself but that is not sustainable. Messi with his out of the world brilliance can't do it alone. He needs his team to dominate. We need to improve our team play before we can talk about Lukaku. Yes Lukaku has been underperforming but so has his team mates. |
