elampiro: You mean a midfield that has world class Pogba is overrun? That can't be true.
You guys were arguing that for every goal scored by Aguero, Kane, Lacazette, that they miss three clear cut chances. That was why I brought that chart to show they all miss same number of big chances, but Lukaku is a poorer scorer currently. If he scores the typical strikers goals, his stats will be up. E be like he even miss penalty sef. Before Pogba went on injury, Lukaku was scoring goals. He just came back, not after Lukaku and others have to go through the trauma of playing with a ghost. Do you know how many times Jose has changed the team to get the right players? No one can predict who will play against City but we can almost predict City's team sheet. Other big teams we know who will make up the attacking quartet but we can only guess who will pair Lukaku. How many goals have they those strikers scored and how many big chances have they missed? Is there any significant gap in both? I don't get |

elampiro: Criticizing a player doesn't mean we are saying he should be benched for another. We are not disputing his scoring ability, but there are areas we have highlighted you people don't want to see. Okay, Lukaku is 100%, he is world class striker, world class hold up play and bringing others into play. Are you happy now?
You brought up Rooney's name in comparison.
Ihenacho is like Chicharito, play them for 30 minutes, they score the much elusive goal to win the match. At such situations, everyone is playing to the arrow head. But start them, they become ghost or headless chicken. I remember when people used to argue that Chicharito is our best striker based on such stats. I brought up Rooney's name first? Why would i do that? Maybe not you, but some actually called for him to be benched. I was responding to them. Lukaku has not even been close to 80% but so has the team. Nobody is asking why our midfield is overrun or why we are having a lot of disjointed attacks but they want a Lukaku that does not have the speed of Aguero to be at the winds to cross the ball and also be at the 18 to nod it. He has missed chances but then when i look at all the places he has to be i feel i can excuse him. His missed clear cut chances are only well pronounced because they are quite few. After all he has missed almost same number of big chances as other strikers so why is his case different? People are now making it seem like he has missed 10 big chances and others have missed 2-3. elampiro: 3 goals in one match boosted his stats. I am not convinced that he can carry on scoring at that rate. He is currently ahead of Lukaku on goals per minutes, but he wont be near Lukaku at the end.
Lukaku is not just doing enough looking at his play at United, particularly in recent matches. That's my argument. Can u name just one striker that will do better in our current set up, especially the period when we had a short one in midfield and Lukaku had to come deep to get involved? At highlighted then why you bringing his name up in this discussion? Ihenacho had a better goal/minute ratio for City but we know who the better striker is. |

dopeJemi: some people did not give Pogba last season this same benefit of the doubt but that's not the point
I can't even count how many big chances Lukaku missed in those games against the so called small teams, he is either blasting balls into the stance or drifting to the right when he is supposed to be running behind defenders creating space for himself to receive the ball, he did this a lot against Watford, I can't count the number of times Lukaku was out of position when Lingard had the ball, Watch the replay of Lingard's goal against Watford and see what I am talking about, Lukaku was out wide and I was glad Lingard didn't pass that ball to him, or was it mourihno's tactics that made him forget how to score a simple tap in against Watford? Or na mourihno tactics na make am forget how to position all of a sudden? I have never seen Lukaku to be an Intelligent striker
This doesn't mean I don't support him, All I want is for him to improve on his positioning and decision making, these days, he barely knows what to do with the ball When you put it like this fine but not when somebody comes to ask what Lukaku is doing in/for the team or calling for him to be benched. That is being unfair to his contribution so far. I still insist that there is no striker that would do better than him right now. I don't want to believe he shys away from the box, or was it not him that was going after rebound in the box early this season? Is this not the same Lukaku that was scoring goals early this season? Teams have started running at us, our midfield can no longer control play and you expect Lukaku to score goals. Kane has just two more goals than him, just forking two and people are already calling for his head. Haba |

elampiro: All the matches you listed, did Gabriel or Lacazette score even if they played inside the box? ;D
We are not even too worry about Lukaku's goals return. I said it a million times already. But his ability to affect play whenever he plays or whatever pattern. You play outside the box, you are given a chance to go on one vs one with the goalkeeper, you take a heavy touch that gives the ball to the goalkeeper. The defenders collects the long balls with ease and build an from their zone unhindered. May be he is over used and tired.
I remember when Rooney played false 9 against City in 2012 in an FA cup match. I think we won 3-2 (not too sure of the score). He made Kompany and his partner to suffer by dragging them out of position and holding the long balls to bring Nani and co into play. Then Rooney ran into the box again to nod in from crosses.
Against Watford, who sent Lukaku to play outside the box? Did we also park the bus? Did we not score 4 goals? Abi na for half line we score 4 goals ni? Did we park the bus against arsenal? Did we not score 3 goals and could have scored more? Shey na from our post we score those goals abi? |

Was it not Huddersfield he had to go to the wings to cross the ball for Rashford for our only goal? Which other small team did we play that Lukaku had someone carrying the ball to him through middle and not all those crosses that defence do find it easy to deal with. Chelsea City Arsenal Liverpool have players carrying balls through the middle creating space but we has to turn to the wings every time when we don't even have a RW. Crosses no dey pass the first or second person but we want Lukaku to score 100 goals with those one one big chance and 100 snap shots |

Of the top 6 teams City, Man Utd and Arsenal have played against Chelsea away this season I am comparing the heatmap of Lukaku vs Lacazette vs Jesus the main strikers in this game and make your deductions about the average positioning of Lukaku
his will show you that its the tactics deployed thats making Lukaku ineffective in scoring goals
That shows Jesus and Lacazette are spending more time in the box and playing more centrally compared to Lukaku in a similar game yet we are wondering why he isnt scoring as much
I am sure Lukaku would have preferred to be in the box and centrally like other strikers Exactly! The goals will come if he spends more time there and he has the team to bring the ball to him. Even against small teams we were still struggling to string passes and get the ball to him. Because he hardly gets the ball, everybody wants him to score that one clear cut chance that falls to him but it doesn't work that way. Strikers need chances to score goals. Even the goal that he scored against Newcastle he did the work by himself. I think the other argument was about him not linking play well but compared to other strikers this will be difficult to prove. |

Of all those topping the charts, only Kane has proven to be better in recent years so no surprises with him being above Lukaku. Everyone is surprised with Salah's performance and goals. Do you know Aguero has not scored from open play in the league since September 23. His 3 goals since then have been from the spot. That is over 2 months of not scoring from open play in a team like Man City where they create chances anyhow and he stays in the box Wow! This can't be correct |

How many Assists? Against Watford, when he didn't get goal to score, he started dropping deep to involve in play. Exactly what I have trying to tell you. Because of the style of play coupled with playing with the useless Mkhi for majority of those games he went on goal drought, he had to drop deep to involve himself and create something. |

I dug deep, I saw they all have same number of chances he to score. The other guys have not missed more big chances than Lukaku.
I thought I was going to see Aguero has missed 20 big chances, Salah 25 big chances, Lukaku 0 big chance. They have missed the same number of big chances but they still have goals more than him. Does this not tell you about the number and quality of chances others have gotten? |
