eezeribe: If he had begged you for one naira to start his business, would you have given him... You are now blessing him with mouth, as if you care Nobody is ready to help someone that has not yet taken extra effort or deprived him or her self to start a business. It's only when you have done that that you qualify to ask from help from people that are not close to you. |

Angelahoney: Sometimes, there's no work !! Must it be an office work? Learn a skill. Let people see you disabled and working and they will willingly help your case. But if you not disabled and you spend hours on the streets begging when you can actually do something else that's stupidity. NOBODY should ever help such person. They don't deserve any help. That's chronic laziness. |

This is one reason why I don't give beggars money on the streets. I look at them and am wondering why they should be begging instead of working. They have no excuse at all |

Oasis007: "The back four is very strong, best goalkeeper in the country. I think you play Carrick, Herrera to the right, Pogba off the left, Rashford off the left and Mkhitaryan off the right.
"It’s a team, I genuinely believe, is as good a team [as any] in the Premier League."
- Owen Hargreaves Why can't somebody consider a two strikers formation? I see 3-5-2 as working wonders for us. Val and Shaw can't easily slot in at wing backs. Hererra and Pogba as b2b. Mata/Mkhi behind any two of Ibra, Martial or Rashford. |

Oasis007: Hi everyone,
[b]I honestly think that our performance on Saturday reinforces the idea of a team that we want to show in the long term, more than if it had been a lucky win after a bad game. If we had taken a couple of the chances that we had, now we would be talking about one of our best games of the season, so we shouldn’t see this from an extremely negative perspective when we did so many things well. However, we are aware that we must get better in that area.
As always, thank you for showing your support after the game, it means that you perceived the effort made by the team. Have a nice week.
Hugs, Juan. I was satisfied with the team's performance last weekend. I just the team to have a performance of this sort for 5 3 straight matches and I will be convinced. I hope we don't revert back to those horrible long balls at the slightest provocation. They're so easy to deal with and very frustrating. |

elampiro: Manchester United 0 Burnley 0 Don’t forget the scores, the venue, the opposition.
When Rooney beat Everton 2-1 at Wembley last season, Rooney dictated most part of the game from central midfield. Half of the people who posted here that day said he didn't do anything because he didn't score or Assist. The whole world said United had gotten a replacement for Scholes, but here he was criticized. We won that game, here you are praising someone who played behind the striker in a 0-0 draw in a far less crucial match.
We have to stop using double standard to judge our players. He hit the bar twice I think. He was unfortunate. |

Oasis007: “The way I think is to win the next game – Fenerbahce. Win and deserve to win. Swansea – deserve to win and win. To think long term is wrong. Hopefully we can get a few wins in a row.”
- Ander Herrera

But..... the Players seem to prefer winning convincingly! If na me talk am now insults go follow. You can't be at united and be hoping for scrappy wins. Of course once in a while we will definitely struggle to win or leave disappointed like our last match. Winning matches convincingly puts teams on the back foot such that when they come against us they prefer to sit back and defend. This cancels the event of us conceding goals. Of course if we don't concede we can't lose. In summary we need that fear factor. It worked for us a lot under SAF. Teams that could have a go at us may decide to sit back and defend because we have been beating teams with high goal difference. |

lyterydim: you need a mental reconfiguration brother, It's without intellectual ability their is no academic excellence, SO we are talking the same thing,
Moreover how can you claim you are successful in academic without knowing your root( mothers tongue)?
It's is knowing your language and knowing it well that enhance your knowledge to define things and undastand things in your own terms. This is not the argument |
Education › Re: “Does Speaking Of English As First Language Promotes Academic Excellence?” by eph12(m): 8:35am On Oct 31, 2016 |
lyterydim: you are confusing me what's the difference between academic excellence and intellectual ability?
Is it not your intelligent that enhance your academic excellence? It is possible to pass exam without even learning much. I saw this happen in the university. How this translates to intellectual excellence is not clear to me but of course getting good grades means academic excellence |
Education › Re: “Does Speaking Of English As First Language Promotes Academic Excellence?” by eph12(m): 7:48am On Oct 31, 2016 |
charix: This can happen in any language. He's only using English as the example as it pertains to our immediate environment. It's highly possible in a classroom the truck pusher would assimilate faster than the graduate even in his own studied field (IQ vs Knowledge). Speaking good English is not the gold standard to academic nor real world excellence however it makes people automatically put one on a pedestal. First of all, bad English in a learned environment is a major turn off. It takes a very patient teacher to look beyond the poor English in an exam script. In a country like Nigeria that has English as it's first language, it is important your English is good enough to pass examinations which is what the op is referring to as academic excellence. If the op has said career excellence or something else I would have said ok. We've been churning out half baked graduates in this country and this is partly because most have poor written and spoken English. Ask some to write simple letter and you see all sorts of grammatical blunder. Tell me what comes to your mind first? Won't you ask where did this one graduate from? Which means they shouldn't have excelled academically graduated in the first instance. |
Education › Re: “Does Speaking Of English As First Language Promotes Academic Excellence?” by eph12(m): 7:23am On Oct 31, 2016 |
charix: It doesn't guarantee academic excellence in any way, shape or form. All it's good for is communicating to others in detail. Many university graduates are no different intellectually than the average truck pusher, the only difference is the graduate is more well read and if he invents or innovates something can put it into clear writing another person can easily follow to achieve the same result. This difference is what the op is talking about. The op was not talking about intelligence but ability to read, understand and pass examinations. After all that is what academic excellence is all about |
Education › Re: “Does Speaking Of English As First Language Promotes Academic Excellence?” by eph12(m): 7:20am On Oct 31, 2016 |
lyterydim: The op above stole my ftc and also commented unprofessionally, English has Notting to do with intellectual ability, Let's used China and Korea as a case study, They speak more of their dialects than English. Yet you can't talk of intelligence without mentioning the above country.
Nigerian home simply compare there children to speak foreigh language because of publicity stunt. The op said academic excellence and not intellectual ability. If this was a real debate almost all of you here would have failed. |
