Slurity:
Don't think shallow, think deep. bread, biscuit, local drinks, pufpuf, burns, egg roll, chewing gum, sweets, you eat sugar every day
You would be surprised to know that a number of the items you listed are not even manufactured in the country.

If possible to import bread sef, I am sure we would have done so.
Our local industries are not thriving at all.

There is a mystery in this country. With the Dangote Sugar Company 'doing so well that it exceeds it's profit margin'?

And by the way, what do we use the sugar for when tea had disappeared in the menu of most Nigerian families?
grin funny, but sad

It's a big problem I tell you.

On the other hand, I find it hard to feel any pity for Adeshina or anyone who has made money from government. Sorry.

They say charity begins at home so first and foremost your thinking is not logical you were among the people that claimed honorable minister Amaechi is the owner of the monies. Let due process take it's course abi na your money they miss?
If you were half as logical as you think you are, you would have understood it was a clear comment asking for transparency and due process to take its course.

In any case, continue following my comments all over the place, you apparently have nothing better doing with your time.

Jeremiah Gyang; are you talking about his comforter song, where he featured ASA?
Hmm, no, can't be that one because he didn't feature anyone.
I remember the tune, and really trying hard to remember the name/title but can't.

paramakina202:
Another MOU?
Obiano the master of MOU's.
Nairaland! cheesy

I wonder what the feasibility of the railway being built and completed within his tenure is?
Besides, I think focus should be more on an integrated rail network for passenger travel across the country. This MOU is for a freight terminal.

I love her songs.

From the name, that means Jeremiah Gyang is also from Plateau. He had one really popular song, I can't remember the name.

The thing is we Northerners are very conservative save for a few and that's why we hardly post about our achievements because we look at it as nothing compared to what lies ahead.
I know and I agree about the conservative nature, but if you don't post those achievements people wouldn't know.

Thoughts, impressions and opinions are all shaped by what we read and hear. If the only things we keep hearing are the negative things, people will assume those are the only things that go on there. I really do think you guys on Nairaland need to come together and do more in sharing those achievements. It may be nothing to you guys but for others it will provide insight to a different North than what the papers and media show.

For example, I have heard about Kano being a big trading hub in the North as well as gold being cheaper there but I have never seen the pictures of the markets online. Even random things like the design patterns used on brides, I think it's called henna, saw it once in dubai and I've heard it's done in the North but not seen anything about it.
PoliticsRe: Great/famous Women From Your State by ephi123(f): 4:49pm On May 01, 2017
Amoto94:
There's nothing good about the North.
Which one is core Northern state again? When it suits your motive you don't differentiate between the 3 Northern regions but when it doesn't you come up with core north and other innuendos.
Having read your conversation with Eazymoh I have sheath my sword and my advice to we the citizens is to shun this superiority competition that is at variance with facts on ground.
As I said in my replies to Eazymoh, what is seen is what we make impressions from - that's human nature. I am looking forward to seeing threads that show us the other sides different from what we assume we know.

A number of guys have actually provided details for Jigawa, Kogi and other states.
PoliticsRe: Great/famous Women From Your State by ephi123(f): 2:34pm On May 01, 2017
EazyMoh:
Yes thank you for understanding.
This is mainly why you don't see northerners engaging in sectarian superiority debates. They are largely pointless.
Many educated people down south have no idea about happenings in the north, but they have an image engraved in their minds of a backward region and people.
Anyway this is actually one of my objectives on NL. To correct any misinformation or misunderstanding about my culture, region, religion and/or tribe.
I will try do the northern successful women story thing sha.
Cheers.
I agree, and I raise my hand up that I am one of those people who has such image in mind. So definitely looking forward to threads that show the full picture and not just the negative part of things.
Cheers, and enjoy the rest of your day.
PoliticsRe: Dogara Urges FG To Increase Workers Salary by ephi123(f): 2:13pm On May 01, 2017
seguno2:
Increasing workers' salaries alone will only worsen inflation and unemployment.
There should be a REDUCTION in the salaries of Dogara and other politicians holding office.
Their salaries should be matched to the MINIMUM wage.
No more.
No less.
That's the only way to ensure the right people get into leadership positions, stripping off the inflated benefits.
PoliticsRe: Great/famous Women From Your State by ephi123(f): 2:04pm On May 01, 2017
EazyMoh:
yeah it will. I had such time and resources I would have done it personally.
Please do make time if possible, or if there is someone else who can...
The other time, a number of people created threads showing aerial views and pictures of different cities from the south west and south east but there hasn't been one from the North. As much as we criticize some practices in the North, yet there are a lot of positives & things to be celebrated there but there is no way people will know if those stories are not told and shared.

yeah, well just because you seldom hear about them doesn't mean they don't exist at all.
It's good to know they do. Hopefully we will see more threads in the future that will highlight these positives in the North, particularly for females. Very key.

Jigawa State
Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmad Rufa'i first female minister of education.
Wing Commander Hajara Bashir Umar first first female officer from the north to reach that rank in the Nigeria Airforce.
Kudos to them.
These Northern women should be highly celebrated, for them to have broken the mold and excelled despite the odds. We seldom hear anything about these people.

Correction accepted, Okene.

Where I'm from we keep it lowkey we don't shout it out like how some of you do. Check who is the first indigenous trained female neurosurgeon again.
Since you are talking like a normal person now, I will type a proper response.

The first indigenous trained female neurosurgeon is Dr. Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu. Dr. Aliu is an indigene of Okenne Local Government Area of Kogi State but was born in Ilorin, Kwara State.

What stopped you from updating the thread with that info rather than jumping on another person's comment?

I know you guys find the truth very bitter to swallow. Sorry but it's the way it is. Rather than defend your archaic customs, stand up and make a change, and stop quoting me all over the place.
