alBHAGDADI: You forgot to mention the pastor that gives such directive. Mind you, as long as you can't find d it in Christianity that people should abandon their babies, then such a pastor is just a pastor for nothing and doesn't belong to Christ.
...and believed by the pagans.
Stop being fooled by Nollywood movies. it is only pagans that hold such beliefs and not all of them even practice it.
It doesn't negate the fact that the Islamic northern Nigeria is backward educationally, technologically and socially. If not for the crude oil in the south, northern Nigeria would have been like Sahara desert. Accept these facts, instead of pointing out other people's problems as a reason why you should continue with yours I echo that. Unfortunately, they do not seem READY to move forward. Considering the fact that some on this same thread are still defending their way of thinking and way of life. |

Danmaiduguri: Girls of 13-18 married to men of 18 above not 40-50 like you said. And you talkd about some rich northerners marry young girls. whats the problem in that if the girl agrees? Scientifically a man of 80 can be sexually active. And dont you know that statistically the number of women is twice the number of men in the world? And you talked of men die in 70s so their wifes become widows. Dont you know there are men who marry widows of 30s or above?? Dont the women die?
If not for your ignourance so u meant that your Oba's and chiefs dont marry young girls in the south. Or do u want to say that there are no prostitutes in the south?? I understand why you are being defensive however my comment was not meant to be a personal attack, I was simply stating my observation from the interview. As of 2014, the world ratio of men to women is estimated to be 1.014:1. In 2010, the world's male population was 3,477,829,638, while the female population was 3,418,059,380 https://www.reference.com/world-view/ratio-men-women-world-population-5afd68eb596fbafb |

Aromas: Is Buhari the 1st Nigeria Head of State to overseas for health treatment? Secondly, you hasty to forget that most Nigerian leaders since military to democratic failed to set a good templates that the coming generation can build on.... But is a sorry state, where corruption, nepotism, hatred as been the other of the day.
May God bless our land He is the 1st Nigerian Head of State who campaigned using a ban on medical tourism. Fine, we all know the rot in the system has been there for ages, but if people do not have the political will or intention to change things, they shouldn't campaign on the platform of change. That is hypocrisy, and it stinks. |

Blue3k: You should read the whole article. He doesn't even care for traditional rulers. He feels it un-Islamic to bow to another human being. Surprisingly I thought it was their culture like Yorubas not to be thoughthe as belittling. (In their context)
The Emir of Kano is telling states to use more tax revenue for education. That's not bad. His sharp tongue call it tough love. He should consider building schools like sheik. I read the whole interview carefully and only highlighted what stood out to me. For example he talks about the high number of widows, whilst also saying in order to prevent prostitution girls can be married off once they start menstruation. It is inevitable that if you are marrying off girls in the age bracket 13-18 to men in their 40s and 50s, there is no way widows won't increase because those men will die in their 70s and 80s leaving women still in their 30s / 40s to become young widows. Like many other issues in the North, it is a self-created problem. If the young girls in their teenage years are married off to guys in similar age bracket, the number of widows will be greatly reduced. But they are not, rather they are married to much older men. Sanusi who can't be less than 50 married an 18 year old not too long ago. Same with Buhari/Aisha. It's a very unfortunate situation that this has become a cultural norm. |

Nigerians are way too religious. If we had half the churches we do with members truly practicing the tenets of Christianity, we wouldn't be here. How do you reconcile having multiple churches on one street and yet evil is multiplying in leaps and bounds each day. People would steal, loot, bribe and go to church to give "testimonies" God cannot be deceived. |

Unfortunately, their followers will keep defending them. Stone Age thinking in the 21st century. Serious matter. Britain is right now researching how to keep premature babies in 'artificial wombs' made from plastic bags in order to reduce mortality of such babies, a successful face transplant was also done recently. Where is Nigeria in all of this as populous as we are? Nowhere. Is that not a huge shame? Yet, some people want to continue in this current state. Consider the president of the most populous Black nation who has to fly overseas for medical treatment and also sent all his kids to the UK to be educated there. WE ARE TRULY NOT READY TO MOVE FORWARD with such people and this man in the interview being at the head of affairs. |

The governor of Zamfara State recently attributed the outbreak of meningitis to the prevalent fornication in the country. how do you react to this?
I know that whatever happens, there is a reason for it. God does things for a reason. He may be sending a message and the message may be two folds: one it may be as a consequence of our iniquity, as the governor thinks it is and also it can be as a trial, like Job was tried by God. But when the governor says it is as a result of fornication, then we have to listen because he is in a position to know. There is hypocrisy in the society. We appear as religious people but we are rotten. God can punish us for that. God has destroyed nations because of sin. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah. Wow. Are these men educated at all? Rather than provide the appropriate vaccination, he is supporting the statement made by the zamfara state governor. Incredible. Meanwhile these are leaders of communities and states?! There is truly fire on the mountain. |

Senorita123: This is the worst thing I have read in my life. I am speechless and embarrassed for you that a human being can think like this . This is not your first post against women. So because a girl menstruates, does it make her less human? It is a real insult to humanity for people who think like this to live among normal reasonable human beings. Your self esteem is so low. Find your way to the jungle!!!! I read his comment and just shook my head. Even if he doesn't have sisters, he has a mother and for that reason alone should show some respect when making such statements. Meanwhile the thread he is posting on shows a woman (gov's wife) who likely stood by her man when he was nothing but has now been shafted. |

IamaNigerianGuy: No I don't get your point. Every actor has a right, covered under freedom of expression to publish his view point. It is left to the reader to discern truth from fable and fact from obfuscation.
People who read Nigerian political literature agree for example that El- Rufai's book 'The Accidental Public Servant' is one of the most illuminating memoirs of the Obasanjo presidency. This despite the fact that it is filled with lies and distortions that clearly show the authors Machiavellian tendencies. Yet we can still distill nuggets of information from it.
The same goes for Obasanjo's 'My Command'
Books are important So you want the next generation to read a book filled with lies and distortions? You don't realize that is doing them a huge disservice? This is not fiction we are talking about here. Books are certainly important, but better not to read one than read a distorted one. |
