Former First lady, Patience Jonathan, visited a branch of Skye Bank in Abuja to withdraw her $5.9 million that was recently unfrozen by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Last year, the EFCC got a court injunction to freeze the money following suspicions that they were proceeds from fraud.

Mrs Jonathan was reportedly allowed to withdraw only $100,000 from the account.

Without bragging, I will say that I have read over 5000 novels since Jss1. It can even be more. I read at least a book a week. Sometimes as much as 3 books. I stay up nights to read novels. I read in the toilet and I read when eating. Terrible habit..lol but I am officially addicted to books.
I don't read love/romance books..
My latest book crush is Clive cussler but alas I have read all his books..
I have given so many books away,I remember I once had an agreement with a book seller to exchange 3 books for 1 new one. I went with 60 books and came back with 12 books...lol.
I don't read books online, I prefer hardback.
Anyone interested in having a couple of books can DM me. I will be in Lagos 1st or 2 nd week. Lagos residents only. Accra residents too. Anyone interested in getting free books, pls pm me.
I have made random friends cos I see them reading books.I can get down from a car/bus before my bus stop cos I saw a book stand.
Growing up ,mum used to beat me for reading novels too much!!! Lol.. I was always curled up reading. My bro was also addicted. I remember mum banging on the toilet door and screaming for whoever was in there to bring out that book..lol
I even took novels to church on Sunday and pretended I was reading the bible.

My first boyfriend bought me a mag and s novel..lol
I always create time to read a book.
I always buy my books.
Is there any ADDICTED bookie out there?

l read about Etete's , it has been in the media several times, 360 Billion Naira / 36 = 10 Billion Naira / state and 10 Billion Naira / state can take care of a minimum of 2000 unemployed graduates working in cottage industries, 2000 gradutes X 36 states = 72, 000 graduates and this money is in the hands of one wicked , satanic monster.

l also noticed that some posters put ethnicity into consideration when posting, for instance, l, AngelicBeing dont do ethnicity, l condemn evil whether it is done by my blood siblings, family members and members of my religious affiliations, crime has no distinction, Nigeria has been raped by all the ethnic groups in the country, Hausa, Igbos, Yorubas, and several other minority groups are all involved in the pillage and plundering, as long as we refuse to stand in unity to condemn all the atrocities perpetrated by different ethnic groups whether North/ South/ East or West then the country will remain stagnant and be in darkness, prayers, fasting, going to Jerusalem or Mecca will not heal Nigeria but fairness, equity, justice, punish evil doers, reward hard work and condemn every crime committed by anybody regardless of race, tribe, creed or state.

Nigerians are one the most religious people on earth and while at the same time the most godless, wicked and devilish, countries that do not pray like Nigerians are progressing, prayer is not what we need but our mindset has to change, stand for what is right and condemn what is wrong, reading all the post on this thread gave me goose pimples, l might eventually stop quoting some people on Nairaland, l will make sure l know where he / she stands in condemning injustice, corruption, wickedness before l engage some people because it is becoming glaring that so many people's support base tilt to tribe, religion etc, what a tragedy sad

Yes, the Truth in this case means Trampling on People's rights.

About the why, perhaps you should study how the developed Nations of the world all became ''Developed''

My statements are insensitive because they are statements of Objective, dispassionate facts, I have zero apologies for that. It is not my business to be politically correct, it is my business to see things the way it is, and state it the way it is, if it offends you, ignore it.
I'm definitely done with this conversation. Good luck as you continue to advocate for trampling of people's rights.

The Truth is Harsh, yet we must say it.

Did you actually read what I wrote, or are you so emotionally invested in this cause that you ignored the reason behind the statements I made?

My answer was never about the Rich or the Poor, for I am also poor.

My statements stated a point of fact that is the reality of our existence in Nigeria today, a Nigeria where Power overules all forms of Rights.

Do you really think the government will just wake up oneday and without Warning, or notice, start evicting people and demolishing OtodoGbame?

Do you really think the government provided no prior warning, or eviction notices?

Since you are now quoting the Bible at me, let me also refer you to Leviticus 19:15 "'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

Have you judged the Government (the rich?) fairly?, have you heard the story from the side of the Government?, are you not perverting Justice by showing partiality to the ''Poor''?

It is you people that are making this a Poor versus Rich issue. It never was that.

The Government thought it best to demolish a Slum, in the Public Interest, notice was served, they did not move. Becuase Nigeria is a Lawless Jungle, Otodo gbame people did not heed government warnings of demolition, becuase Nigeria is a lawless Jungle where Power trumps Right, OtodoGbame was invaded and demolished by the Government, at the loss of innocent lives. Their rights were trampled upon, but had they obeyed the government, will it have been trampled upon?

This is what I mean by my statement that the Fact is for the demolition to happen, their rights had to be trampled upon by the Government?....This ''Harsh'' statement is true.

Am I now the oppressor for saying the Truth?

Since you were quoting the bible at me, does it not say in the bible Romans 13 that:
"Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3 For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. 4 The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. 5 Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.''

Have OtodoGbame people followed the word of God in the Bible you keep quoting at me?

My mind is free, let Karma come, I am not a populist, nor after popularity, I am a disciple of the Truth, and not an Hypocrite like all these Human right Fighters that work and Live in Lekki Phase 1 and have the Guts to criticize the Government demolishing a Slum, forgetting that Maroko was demolished to make way for Lekki Phase 1 they call their home and office now. It is impossible for Nigeria to develop without paying a social cost, which will come in various forms, like we are seeing now in Otodo, and that is the Fact, whether harsh or not.

Even if you are the only one standing, Say the Truth.
So to you Truth = "Trampling on people's rights"? Those were your exact words, address that.
Why must people's rights be trampled upon for a nation to develop?
Are they not humans?
Did the developed countries today trample on their citizens ' rights to get where they are?

Your statements were highly insensitive, whether you accept it or not is up to you. This is not even just about this specific case, but those statements you made about people's rights being trampled upon.

Hello.

This is Akolade Olashigun.

So the story is now on nairaland. Fine. To all the "human Rights Fighters", What have you done on the ground to help OtodoGbame people other than hide behind online monikers and rant online?

I am not a populist, neither am I aiming for your validation, hence I can afford to tell the truth, as it is. As we all know, the truth is usually absurd and painful.

The non sentimental fact of the matter is that a slum cannot be allowed to exist in a State that is aiming to be among the top 20 most developed in some years time.

To make that happen, slums have to be demolished. If the Slum occupants have any legitimate right to the land, then they ought to be relocated and compensated (a LA bussa and new bussa in the Kainji Dam Case).

If they do not have legitimate right to the land, then it is not the immediate responsibility of the government to relocate them. If the government does that, they will be creating a precedence that will make them responsible for providing housing for all homeless lagosians, a proposition that is not economically feasible given the finances of the state.

Also, according to Nigerian laws, housing is not a right. Kindly research that.

It follows that anything the government does for the evicted will be based on the prerogative of Mercy.

What I expect Human right fighters to be clamoring for is for the government plus NGOs to arrange temporary accommodations for the evicted, where practical.

That is the fact that must be separated from the feelings.

For those cursing at me. I believe in karma, and God is a just God, whatever good I do will come back to me, whatever bad I do will come back to me, I have made peace with that, perhaps you should focus on how you can make real difference to your life, and the life of your community, rather than stay online cursing at people who have divergent opinion from yours.

Have questions? Ask away.

Thank you.
Glad you are here to see what people think of your very "kind" statements.

You've mentioned God is a just God, do you also realize He holds the plight of the poor very dear to His heart?

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy
— Proverbs 31:8-9

Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will exact life for life.
— Proverbs 22:22-23

Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God
— Proverbs 14:31

These are just 2 of the many harsh statements you made:

The feeling is their rights has be trampled upon, the fact is that it has to be'

It is impossible for Nigeria to develop without trampling on some people"
