Politics › Re: Nigerians Will Beg Buhari To Contest In 2019 Even If Decides Not – Momoh by ephi123(f): 7:30pm On Apr 06, 2017 |
yourexcellency: Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos
Former Minister of Information and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Tony Momoh has said Nigerians will appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019 even if the president declines to contest. Speaking in an interview with Independent in Abuja, Momoh said the scenario that played out in 2011 when President Buhari decided not to contest the presidential election again but had to change his mind after appeal from many Nigerians may repeat itself in 2019.
Momoh, who was the National Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) one of the parties that merged to form the APC said he believed Nigerians may not want President Buhari to leave in 2019 even if he so desires.
On whether he will advise the president not to contest in 2019 so he can attend to his health, Momoh said “Am I the one to advise him? The president is entitled to two terms and then he defeated all other candidates in the primaries and his ticket to run between 2015 and 2019 was not negotiated”.
“ If he had said he will only do one term, then one can start discussing whether he should seek re-election or not. The man is elected until 2019. At that time God willing, he will express his intention”.
“ In 2011, he said he wasn’t interested anymore but a lot of people pushed him to be interested and he ran. So, even if he says he is not interested in 2019 now, by that time, people will push him to be interested. And based on his performance, I don’t think even if he wants to go, people will allow him to go” http://independent.ng/nigerians-will-beg-buhari-to-contest-in-2019-even-if-decides-not-to-momoh/ That says it all. |

rusher14: Just say you guys would do anything to bad mouth anybody who isn't buying the "PDP means well" BS.
As for the APC being PDP, that maybe true but many respect the present rulership within the party.
The reason APC remains the party onboard is simply because of the respect the likes of Buhari, Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Fashola, Ngige continue to wield.
We know many wolves have made their way into the party and no miracle would exorcise those demons without major bloodletting or rancour.
Regardless, APC is a party with good still locked in a battle with evil.
PDP on the other hand, promote corruption and thievery.
The matter of Patience Jonathan having 15 million dollars which some Nigerians are comfortable with tells the sinister motive of those who promote her husband's party.
What else other than the treasury is PDP Interested in?
Excuse me? Do I look like a PDP fan to you? Smh. Please just maintain your lane. Thank you. |

I don't visit Nairaland for several days now sometimes these days, and I never miss anything about it. The front page is filled with one liner news or unsubstantiated gossip articles.
A forum is not a gossip blog or an out and out news site. It's supposed to be heavily tilted towards discussions on diverse topics.
Where are the topics discussions that made me addicted to Nairaland back then?

swtdrms: I know majority won't read but will rush to comment insulting Buhari's government.
In as much as I believe there's corruption going on under this government, the looting the report is talking about took place under Obasanjo's regime. They rightly should blame Buhari's govt. 1. Buhari stated Abacha did not steal but this report states the huge amount he stole. The investigations specifically focused on the $505 million Abacha loot recovered from Swiss Government in 2004 which the government under President Olusegun Obasanjo committed to financing specific projects under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 2. Secondly, the findings were conducted this year. If the govt was serious about tackling corruption, they would have sniffed this out rather than the media circus crucifixion of the opposition they've been doing. However, the findings conducted by the CSOs early this year revealed that most of the projects were either not carried out or were abandoned. |
