GraphicsPlus: Good thread. But u should have changed MacDonalds to Mr. Biggs or ShopRite owing to the fact that MacDonalds hasnt come to Nigeria.KBARBIE didn't mean that, she was just using indomie as a brand example to drive in the point of her question. |
KBARBIE: Is it possible to brand an existing product? If yes, how do you rebrand a product like indomie?Yes it's possible... alot of factors need to be taken into consideration though, because an image already exists and the new image is either going to enhance or correct a negative shadow the previous image might have cast on the business. |
technical reasons?? or size ish? |
Awesome!!! |
Prior to launching an advertising campaign or developing a marketing strategy, it is crucial that you determine your brand’s identity. Simply put, a brand’s identity is its singular “personality” that serves to identify a company or business and distinguish it from its competitors. Although “branding” has become a buzzword popularized by entrepreneurs, many people still have trouble grasping what the term means. So what is branding, exactly? Branding is successfully creating a brand identity that will not only make your business more appealing in comparison to your competitors, but it will also convince consumers that in a sea of prospects, your business is the only one capable of satisfying their needs. Many different components can go into developing a brand, including eye-catching designs and a unique name; however, a brand encompasses more than just a logo. It’s what clients take away from the experience of working with you. It’s what your company stands for and is known for within your market. Coming up with a brand means coming up with what your company promises to deliver, whether that’s perfectly seasoned gourmet pizzas or impeccably tailored shirts. Branding includes the overall style of your company and the meaning it has to clients. Ideally, it would motivate people to buy your products or use your services. If you don’t define your brand, you create the possibility that someone else will do it for you, including your competitors. Defining you brand allows you to control—or at least influence—how others perceive you. An effective brand marketing strategy minimizes your company’s chances of fading into the background and solidifies your reputation as a veritable force to be reckoned with. Strong branding demonstrates that a company aspires to something greater than just business as usual. By raising your status from a basic commodity to a brand, consumers will be willing to pay a premium for your services or products. Ultimately, branding is perhaps most essential because it increases the chances that people will remember you, even as the battle for consumers’ attention (and money) rages on. A fully-developed brand identity will push your business to the forefront of consumers’ minds, making them more likely to recognize you, enlist your services, and remain loyal long after the conclusion of your professional relationship. It takes a lot of time to build (and maintain) these valuable customer relationships. Let me give you a few examples of successful branding: -Coca Cola: The majority of people instantly recognize this brand. Their logo, the Christmas songs, TV commercials, ads and cans are a part of the Coca Cola branding strategy. This brand has been around for decades, allowing its message to go from generation to generation, and all of Coca Cola’s efforts have paid off. Wouldn’t you agree it is quite hard to imagine a world without Coca Cola? -McDonald’s: Remember when you were a kid and going to McDonald’s was a treat? Of course you do! This is why you will probably take your (future) children to come and have a quick bite here every once in a while. McDonald’s introduced Happy Meals for children, including a small toy in every meal box. A smart move, given the fact that competitors soon offered similar deals. Furthermore, they incorporated the word “Mac/Mc” into their product names, like “McNuggets” or the famous “Big Mac.” These decisions have had major influence on the way customers perceive the brand. -Apple: Apple has found a way to become one of the most popular brands in the world by branding themselves successfully. Mac computers aren’t for just anyone, nor are the iPad or the iPhone. The late Steve Jobs was known for his way of presenting new products to the public and used his black turtleneck sweater as part of his strategy. Even the use of putting an “i” in their product names is all part of Apple’s branding strategy. The designs of the products, the campaigns and product launches are all in sync with Apple’s style and its branding. You can say that these companies have become experts in business branding, based on their successes. Branding could be perceived as part of marketing or as a separate component, but it is definitely closely related to marketing. Before you start diving into concepts to market your business, make sure you have determined a brand identity and are aware of all the aspects that come with brand management. from http://www.onlineadvertisingagency.info/2012/02/27/the-importance-of-branding-for-businesses/

this is the first place i'll see graphic designers advertising themselves based on word of mouth... don't have have samples of previous works or do you think this is how trivial the design world is?? All the best though, experience is the best teacher. |
What Is a Brand? A brand is more than just a name or logo that you give your business. It is your identity, and shares with the world who you are, what you can offer, and how you offer it. It also helps establish credibility with future customers. If you earn a good reputation for your brand, you can break away from your competition. Strategic branding will allow you to be more flexible and in control with the most important factors of business, namely pricing. When you have a good brand established, people are more likely to pay more for your services. This is because they believe your services will be more beneficial than other, lower priced options. Stand Out from the Crowd with Your Brand The most obvious reason for a brand is to differentiate your business from all the rest. People begin new business ventures every day, launching a new website and handing out bundles of business cards. One of the main goals you should continually set for yourself is finding ways to step outside the box. You want potential customers to notice you, and your brand will help accomplish this. Strategic Branding Allows for More Effective Marketing Also, with a brand name and logo, you can market your business more efficiently. Developing a reputation for yourself will allow you to skip the introductions with potential clients, as they will already know who you are and what you can offer them. This will decrease the amount of time you spend discussing yourself, which will give you more time to land new customers and reach out to even more. Glo has still so far failed to disappoint me enough to regret using them... Just AWESOME!!! |
happy bithday to you Miss Steph... wish u Gods blessings and protection today and every other day of your life. have fun. |
@spywareczar: i'm really disappointed at your level of unprofessionalism. Not all designers are logo experts, i was a good designer long before i knew what a good logo was all about... like they said, a good logo designer shouldn't be ignorant of what a vector is in the first place. Flagship might not upload his works here which isn't an encouraging thing but he sure knows what he is talking about and i think a few of his works that i've seen speaks for him. A good designer never resort to foul languages all because he's being criticized, fact remains criticism is what greases our wheels. When you know they are right, works towards improving... when you know they are wrong, ignore. Simple. Just so you know... you have seen my logos and you know they are not mediocre. I did reasonable research via google before creating each and every of my logos, so google is always a good friend of professionals who know what they are doing. Thank you |
eeyah... win some, lose some. Such is life. |
Because most of them are in form of adverts and topics having the implication of an advert are against frontpage rules. Besides, i'm just having time to do stuffs here so henceforth i'll ensure i recommend more deserving topics to the frontpage. Any topic you feel deserves the frontpage from now, try to bring it to my notice please. You know i can't do all these alone. Thanks |
Welcome... it works in every way you want it to work... People post their works, thoughts and also discuss here. Just visit the threads and contribute wherever you can, ask questions where you feel you need to know more, send private messages to those you think will be beneficial to you, be respectful of other peoples' works and endeavor to upload your works too so you can get the opinions of others. We are all here to learn from each other... I hope you enjoy your stay. |
It has come to my attention in recent times that some people come to this section to paste works which are gotten from various other designers and websites and claim the ownership and credits. First, this is illegal... but the illegal aspect is none of my business, nah you and police go dey drag that one. To me and other loyal, hardworking and truely creative members of this section, it is totally wrong, unprofessional, demeaning and unethical. On this note, with the help of my vigilant fellow designers... anybody discovered to paste and take credit for design works that are not theirs in this section will be liable to a Two(2)-Week ban and the particular post or thread will be hidden/removed. If you must paste any design work that is not yours, have the decency and courtesy of mentioning and appreciating the original designer. How would you feel if you spent hours behind a computer depriving yourself of alot of things just to make that awesome design and somebody somewhere is taking the credit for it?? Lets be fair to ourselves and others. We are here to help each other grow, not to brag and oppress ourselves. Thank You. erad. |
Unlike JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams. Paths are even used to define the characters of specific typefaces. Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. If you blow up a raster graphic, it will look blocky, or "pixelated." When you blow up a vector graphic, the edges of each object within the graphic stay smooth and clean. This makes vector graphics ideal for logos, which can be small enough to appear on a business card, but can also be scaled to fill a billboard. Common types of vector graphics include Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and EPS files. Many Flash animations also use vector graphics, since they scale better and typically take up less space than bitmap images. File extensions: .AI, .EPS, .SVG, .DRW gotten from www.techterms.com/definition/vectorgraphic. |

glad to see nairalanders are no longer encouraging mediocrity... @kelvin... just try to learn more, there's still room for lots of improvement. |
you guys are both doing good... at least i'm learning something from ur conversation |
Akay boss... Happy new year boss |
Junnymercy... Happy new year to you too. I'm not offering to help with your logo but want to try helping u achieve a good result. The info u've provided is just the abbreviation... nothing for the designer to work on, nowhere to extract ideas from. probably a more detailed info on the organisation will provide a direction to work along. hope u understand ma point. |
@Velociraptor... I don't think you should be so inconsiderate in your comment. For heavens sake, there's a difference between an advert and a vacancy. If you are interested, contact the poster and make all these enquiries privately, don't come online and undermine the name and image of a company all because you feel they could have done better. How would you feel if you developed your trade and then someone from nowhere who knows absolutely nothing about you or your companu comes and starts making wild accusations which in their own way discredits you and the efficiency of your company. No one is forcing your hand, if you feel they don't have a suitable environment for you to work, please leave and if you have ways to make them better, please say. You are not the only one coming to nairaland, their clients and potential clients might also swing by but then you've destroyed the company's image already. Please be considerate, thank you. |
Damn! Dis stuff actually kills people? Then how da hell is Jack Bauer still alive?? |
I'm not supposed 2 comment here cos I'm really not a religion person but I discovered ignorance seems to be a part of some people's gene... Who said anything about merging pagan practices with christianity?? For those with idea of economic terms, you sure understand the difference between "substituting" and "complementing"... Even a dictionary can help clarify the terms. In days of old when missionarie preached to pagans... They recorded successes but discovered that some days were of significance to the pagans as regards some of their pagan practices. It was ourightly impossible to just scrap those days off and celebrations with them(just imagine a very potent authority wakes up tomoro and says celebrating christmas is a crime and december 25 is just like every other day, that's absolutely gonna cause some very big wahala)... Instead, they left the dates as significant dates but changed what was being celebrated. Honestly, I see it as a very smart move... Their mission was accomplished and everyone was happy. At least Jesus dined with tax collectors and prostitutes all in a bid to spread the Word. ENDEAVOUR NOT TO INSULT ME! ITS JUST MY LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING AND OPINION, IT DOESN'T MEAN I'M RIGHT. |
