i made that on CS3... thats wat i use.

Finally, that gives the image its perfect touch. and we have this as our final result.

Finally, we have a smooth, clear silky image but my image seems to have too much blue. You are frer to leave your image at this stage but i want to go a step further so i go to 'image', 'adjustents' and click on 'curves'. A dialogue box appears and i change the channel to blue and modify the graph like it is below.

Next we go to the same 'filters', but this time around 'blur' and then click on 'surface blur'. i worked with the settings below.

By then, you'll notice that the white edges are gone but some part that were painted black on the right don't blend with the image so this is what we'll do. We'll introduce the burn tool. Select the burn tool and go for a pretty big size... move it randomly but smoothly over the hair until they are smoothly faded with the black background. Do it and play around with it until you are fully satisfied.

Now we proceed to the final steps. Go to 'filter', 'Noise' and click on 'remove noise'... enter the setting below or play around with it until u get something that suites you but below is the settings i used.

We'll notice the whilte egdes around the hair at the sides where the selections were removed. so what we'll do is pick on the brush tool and select a circular basic brush tip, a medium size with hardness about 80% and brush on the selected parts below with the foreground color at black.

I noticed the image is kinda too white so i go again to the levels option and input the settings below.

we select the brush tool and paint black within the red outline so that the entire image will be black and the background white. then we go to 'select' on the menu bar and click on 'color range'. a dialogue box appears, and you select the white background of the image with the eyedropper tool that appears. increase the fuzziness to 200(thats the maximum) and click on ok.

The background would have been selected. Now remember that all the things we've been doing has been on the duplicated layer. so while the selection is stil active, we hide the duplicated layer, select the initial layer, double click on the layer to unlock it and press delete to remove the parts that the marquee selection covers.

After creating a black layer under the initial picture layer that the background was removed, you should be having something similar to what is below.

NOTE: FIRST DUPLICATE THE LAYER. First, we need to get rid of the background. On a very normal day, i'll select the magic wand tool and start playing around with it till i'm succesfully able to pick out the entire background. But giving that the backgound here and the image are distinctly seperate, i'll be using another method.

Now we go to 'image', 'adjustment' and click on 'levels'... a dialogue box appears and we input these settings...

Now I decided to use a picture of our very own Nigerian-born actress and musician, Tonto Dikeh. Just go to google images and type in the name, the same very image should come along with the results.


This is our initial image... Click on 'file', 'open', look for the directory the picture has been saved and select the picture.

make una no vex for me abeg... the restructured title is causing the disappointment... guys interested in graphics should visit the blogsite and lemme know what you think. i have a tutorial there and i doubt anyone has ever seen it asides me, leave honest comments and i'll be encouraged to make more

In other words,this thread is meaningless but I will like to ask my oga at the top for his opinion too.

The initial title is "Understanding the basics"... it was modified to that. I only used graphics design as an illustration cos thats my field.

What help do u need with graphics?? cos i didn't state it here doesn't mean i can't help u with it eventually.

How do you drive a car when you don't understand the basic function of each part?
In my opinion, this is the sort of question that differentiates a pro from a newbie. You want to get the best of out of Adobe photoshop, do you understand how the tools and components of Adobe photoshop work? How do you seperate an image from its background when you can't even differentiate between the background and the image itself?
The only reason we can manipulate things and manoeuver our way around events is because we understand the basics of those things and events. Its not just about knowing the basics, its about understanding it. When I have a design work, I take into consideration all the tools that will be involved. I understand how those tools need to be used to get the desired result, I understand the system i'm working on(most times my pc which I think I understand perfectly by now), I understand what is expected to be my end result(sometimes its just fun designing blindly as the inspiration comes). Once i put together all these pieces and understand how they work, there's no limit to the 'awesomeness'(I hope that word exists) of my output.
If you are having doubts about any of these pieces, make sure that doubt is cleared before you fully embark on your project and above all, make sure you love what you are doing. There's no greater inspiration than the passion you have for what you do.

when i go through comments these days, i can't help but notice that an average nigerian is wicked, selfish, greedy, inconsiderate and outrightly myopic. Some people don't even understand what others go through before saying the rubbish they are programmed to say. Fashola banned okada riders in lag, do u know how many people were left jobless? Do u know how many people had to withdraw their kids from school? In other words, do u know how many 'presents' and 'futures' have been destroyed from that singular act of a governmment's lack of consideration and vision?? A government should have a human face and not just for the rich. If u are fortunate enough to have things good, please remember the unfortunate brave and courageous ones who against all odds hustle and toil under most harsh and unfavourable conditions just to make a decent living for themselves and their families. Its not the fault of most of them that they are the way they are, we shouldn't persecute, blame and purnish them for it.

I really don't know why you keep encountering that problem... People have been making posts and have been uploading pictures successfully. Are you posting from a system or a mobile?

To the best of my knowledge, Graphicsplus has posted couple of his works here before so i'll advise that until you guys have tangible proof that he is the same as webinar, it'll be preferable we keep our accusations to ourselves. Thank you.
