cletz991:Gear might still function normally... But it good to have it checked out... It a sign the gear system is not ok. |
fizcoo20:Honda parts are very much available mostly in Oyingbo.. Don't know about the price for a 4plug gear But the V6 gear was about 65-70k when my friend wanted to change his before he sold car off. Ie: the 4plug gear may just be within that range cos the V6 gear Alps goes for odyssey and co. |
Humblesam:Heard sane thing about 406 auto once they reach a particular mileage... But I can't judge ... Let those who use it give their experiences |
fizcoo20:It is more of paying attention to details. Senario 1: Four years on mine... I have a gear switch issue... Mine was more direct... during one of the rainy season when I crossed a high level water... The *D* light started blinking and the gear became sluggish. Gear was still working but I knew the difference. I took it to a rewire who tested the 3 switches on the body of the gear till we found one switch with a crack... Changed the switch and works fine till date. Senario 2: my friend bought a babyboy as well (first car) and after a month he the *D* Light was blinking. He said the gear works just fine and he did several weekend trips with it to Ibadan, Ekiti and co aside the daily trips he does from Ikorodu to yaba... To an fro work...after a year the gear packed up. He just woke up one morning engaged the gear and the gear refuses changing (Like he was driving L1) He asked me about it until he mentioned that his *D* Light has been blinking for over a year but it never affected car performance so he felt it was a glitch. He ended up selling the car after several trials and error. Now besides these two scenarios I have experienced others when I purchased a Naija use babyboy. The gear is something I used to fall prey for..(then I don't even use scanners) there is the overheating type....: Gear runs smooth on the onset and after driving for about an hour gear starts misbehaving... Have had such experience on two Naija used babyboy and the *D* light so not blink at the point of purchase. So what I do is when I buy a Naija used... I buy fuel and test drive to satisfaction. PS: For me once the gear is not a switch issue, I got for a total change of gear. Cant be doing trial and error. Babyboy has great fuel economy once your engine and exhaust system is right. |
Ourkitchenpalm:Sienna ke... No no.. Passat maybe but I can't guarantee how well it can be issue free. As well which year? |
Musty4ahmed1:Which ever you choose to go for, Just ensure the cars is/was well maintained. Don't let the suppose FEAR OF HONDA LEG make u forgo a good Honda car.... For Passat I didn't use it much so I can't contribute meaningfully (just like I mentioned in your Passat post) PS: I just sold my friend baby boy this evening despite lock down. Was touched by the determination of the buyer sha. |
Listening.... This one no be my field as u run from Toyota and honda ..The 03 golf 4 I tried to acquire almost killed me.. I have decided to leave Volkswagen alone when my friend bought a clean 06 Passat (push to start button with manual gear) for 400k and never enjoyed it for a day. But there should be master in the Volkswagen field ... Let the users share their experiences. |
I independently disagree. This is the link to the very first baby boy I owned. https://www.nairaland.com/2998497/registered-1998-babyboy-4-quick#43903124 I knew how much I lobbied to get it cos it was extremely clean... Well used by a soldier though. I used it for a year....and sold it even higher than I got it after a year... I learnt a lot about using babyboy via the car. I have bought used and resold quite a lot of Naija used babyboy... From sellers who feel babyboy is worthless to buyers who knows it value. Dear dealers if you have a babyboy u disike because it does not have resale value ... Please I'm really interested cos I have just the right market for it. Below is my current Naija used baby boy acquired 4years ago. Car is a daily use especially by my wife Fixes done over the course include 1 total change of ball joint and tutors (done once car was bought) 1 flywheel change 1 gear switch change. I guess someone will be saying I don't use it...shior ... I stay in Ikorodu.... Our road and messed up and crazy when it rains.. See 2nd picture of part of my wife route to work when it rains..(she will not even drive those days rather take a bike) just to tell you how bad the road network is Even my wife won't let me sell it cos she claims it's devoid of issue. It still boils down to the fact that when you buy a Naija used car.... Get a well maintened car

atomicdele:My dear, I'm speaking from experience. I only hope those who are condemning Honda are doing so out of experience too. Let them confirm they owned the car, drove the car and it pulled rather than judging what they see on the highways of Honda cars that pull... The same highway that other Honda's still ride and pass. |
fizcoo20:The V6 of both cars are 3.0 The i4 for Honda is 2.3 while Camry is 2.2 |
jacobjamie:Na so bayelsa pple dey behave... Sabi judge motor from outside.. not like una get better motor for sale for there.... Abey... I no get ya time, sell your sell make the seller who I post am for sell him sell.... No body is forcing anybody after all calling and inspection is free |
KingCassy:Total cost yes. Car is sitting at his door step... Accidental... Yes(well I don't know if to call it accident but had dents on driver door.. but he has changed dem door. See picture of accident

ImmaculateJOE:I tire o |

Musty4ahmed1:Comment on the right thread. Besides 1: I'm based in Lagos 2: babyboy up for sales isn't mine... Owner is relocating to his personal building which has very poor road network hence he wants to sell before raining season 3: engine is toks car was backed over a year but still neat has he hardly use it. Fixes required are minor... Like inner door handle (as seen in pics) central lock system.. no major electrical issue 4. Car runs fine with chilling AC to go with. Most especially Not selling with plates... Reason for the dip sales |
Most Nigerian like abusing cars... Don't do due servicing with the right oil.. Don't pay attention to details etc hence they say camry Honda Accord is far sophiticated Jare. 4 years av not changed shocks on babyboy... Let me not count how many changes available don on Camry... For one Honda has better suspension than Camry.. But like I said OP with your budget ... It better to get an abused Camry Dan an abused Babyboy. |
Musty4ahmed1:1: Speed.. 2: Fuel consumption... I use the 4plug and the speed is not bad though |
I think you should get a good car. I am still an advocate for Honda baby boy but I can't say how well u will get a properly maintained baby boy.... With 500 even if u get an abused Camry... U will survive But if u get an abused babyboy... Based on your weekend travels ... Your pocket might suffer..... For the first time... I will join they an say.. Go for a Camry... PS: I have both a 2002 babyboy and 2001 Camry....so I can best judge... (None of them for sale sha) |
I tot u said the car was blue..... I(some of us) already know what 2001 corolla looks like sha... Maybe for those who dont. Don't you have any pic of the car at all? |
Johnsonkeyz2019:Won't mind .. expecting it..thx |
minasota:Registration number can be changed like ABC Color and chassis number may be difficult to change Put up a pics quick.. I see a blue Corolla for sale... Even here on nairaland on auto section PS: owner of blue Corolla I'm not saying it you o... Let the OP just check. We are looking out for each other |
