Hello Nairalanders smiley,
...Some of the "major dialects" of Urhobo are:
1. Isoko(Also has sub-dialects such as Erhowa, Enwhe and Iyede)...
1. Isoko
The Isoko Dialect of Urhobo is so broad and large that it is effectively a language of its own. Isoko is a proto-Edoid language and hence it is closer to how Urhobo once was when the people said goodbye to their Benin progenitors. Isoko has its own sub-dialects such as Iyede, Erhowa, Enwhe, Olomoro, Oleh, etc. The main dialectal difference between Urhobo and Isoko include; Use of Degwo instead of Migwo for greeting, repetition of utterances and words.i.e. "Yanzobone Yanzobone (Come here, Come here)", different names for various objects, etc. My Isoko people here can help out with more. smiley

Please sir i wish to state that isoko is not a dialect of urhobo. studies show that both ethnic groups migrated from benin, with urhobo being the younger to isoko. the main reason why urhobo has the lead over isoko and other etthnic groups in delta state is basically because that was were development first came to and this was majorly due to the oil discovered in warri and its sorrounding communities.
Thanks and God bless.
Nairaland / General / See The Huge Snake Killed In FUPRE by Ericardo7(m): 9:05pm On Oct 14, 2015
This huge snake was killed at The Federal University Of Petroleum Resources Effurun, Delta State.
It was said to have been moving from an undeveloped area of the school towards the female hostel when it was sighted by workers at a construction site opposite the killed. Some of the workers were said to have pelted it with Stones and sticks until it was eventually killed.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in FUPRE, which is still in its developing phase.

She was beautiful. Extremely beautiful. Mudi was still trying to comprehend how someone could be so beautiful. He stole another glance at her. Her dark braids fell over her shoulders the same moment their eyes met. She flicked her sexy eyes at him.
"Look up man!", Samuel shouted at him. A pass was thrown at him. Mudi caught the ball midair, spun around 360 degrees and calculated his move.

One of the best point guards ever produced, Mudi was an excellent basketball undergraduate of The Federal University Of Petroleum Resources. Having won his way into the school team by defeating Tunde, the school captain, he had become the best player in the team and so lots of pressure was on him. They were down by 2 points with nine seconds on the clock.

Mudi spun round to face his marker. "8 seconds left!", the commentator screamed. Mudi bounced the ball, passed it through his back, faked left and moved right, leaving his marker in another planet. 6 seconds. He made for the net as he dribbled through 2 defenders. 5 seconds. He tried beating the last man but the defender was resilient. The defender forced him out.
"Mudi do something!", his coach shouted at him. Mudi pulled out of the home zone to the three point line. 3 seconds. Mudi, facing the defender took three steps backwards and faked left. The defender moved, giving him some space. Mudi took his moment, leaped and shot a three-pointer fadeaway. 1 second. The ball trailed towards the ream, drooping at the net and...

"Wake up! Wake up! We gotta get outta here. Mudi, wake up!" Mudi opened his eyes to see Sam dragging him of his bed. "Why had his friend decided to wake him up at the sweetest part of his dream?", he thought drowsily. The next thing he saw brought him back from dreamland completely. Students were screaming and running around. Mudi saw his next door neighbor grab his knapsack and run out with just his boxer shorts and singlet on. Several screaming voices disvirgined the peaceful night.
"What's going on?", he asked as he bolted up. Sam grabbed a file containing his results and gave him a shocker.
"Boko Haram. They're in Iteregbi already. They're heading for the hostel. Get your credentials lets get the hell outta here".
Mudi was dazed. The terrorists had to come to the South-South. To his school. He had to stop them.

Education / FUPRE Inaugurates Team On Made-in- Nigeria Cars by Ericardo7(m): 10:11pm On Jun 05, 2015
DETERMINED to lead the institution to global
acclaim through inventions and innovations that
will reposition the nation academically and
economically, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal
University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun
(FUPRE), Prof. Akii Ibhadode, has called on
stakeholders, especially students and lecturers of
the institution, to undertake ground breaking
researches and inventions.
Ibhadode, who assumed leadership of the
institution less than two weeks ago, has also
donated books and scholarly journals worth over
N500,000 to the FUPRE library to demonstrate his
resolve at making the university a centre of
excellence in ground-breaking researches.
Ibhadode, while inaugurating the FUPRE-Shell
Eco-Marathon Team on Wednesday, said it was a
unique window of opportunity that would give
expression to the specialised skills being acquired
by FUPRE students and to help the school attain
the height as Africa’s first.
The team, according to Ibhadode, will comprise
technically oriented students and professional
staff drawn from Mechanical Engineering and
Electrical/ Electronic Departments of the College
of Technology, alongside some corps members
now serving in the university, who were part of
previous works at the University of Benin, to lend
technical support to the project.
It was charged to “produce a prototype vehicle/
go cart for the 2015 South Africa Shell ECO-
Marathon scheduled for October 2015, and
produce Shell ECO-Marathon and/or Formula
vehicles/go-carts for national and international
competitions.”
Members the students team include Otuazohor
Precious, Otaigho Oghenero Favour, Okolosio
Oghenekaro Elvis, Essien Aniekan Akpan, Udonsek
Lawson, Aboribo Gmira Onome, and Ewhrudjakpo
Efemena, who is the team manager.
Boye E. Thankgod of Mechanical Engineering
Department is the project supervisor, while
Igbinoba Kevwe Charles of Elect/Elect Department
is his assistant.
Both are engineers. The corps technical support
team comprises Adekola Adeyemi, Abdulmalik
Taj’Laid, Ejiro Okwoka (all of Production/
Mechanical Engineering Department), Osas Omijie
(Elect/Elect), Oseikhuemen Ibhadode (Computer
Science), as well as Frank Onwobulu (Industrial
Design/ Stylist and Osehoemomen Ibhadode
(Manufacturing Engineering Department).
Already, the FUPRE TETFund Desk Officer, Prof.
Mary Edema, has commended the initiative,
stating that the university could tap from the
TETFund research funds to replicate such effort.
As a specialised university in the oil and gas
sector, she noted, the need should also look at
building the first modular refinery that the nation
could adapt.
The donation, made recently during the 30th
meeting of FUPRE’s Governing Council, included
50 copies of his book, Introduction to
Manufacturing Technology, four copies each of
Volumes 1 and 2, and six copies each of Volumes
3, 4, 5 and 6 of the International Journal of
Engineering Research in Africa (JERA), which he
is the founder and editor-in-chief.
These materials are published in Switzerland and
very suitable for research purposes. Others were
six copies each of Advanced Materials Research
(AMR) on Advances in Materials and Systems
Technologies, Volumes II, III and IV; all papers in
the volumes are peer-reviewed papers from the
International Conference on Engineering Research
and Development, which Ibhadode established as
Dean of Engineering, the University Of Benin.
The Chairman of Governing Council and FUPRE
Pro-Chancellor, Senator Nimi Barigha- Amange,
commended Ibhadode for the gesture, noting that
the council has been vindicated that it made the
right choice by appointing him as vice-chancellor
because of the dynamism and focus he has
brought to the university.

Nairaland / General / Alfa Arrested For Sexually Assaulting 17 Year Old In Lagos by Ericardo7(m): 9:55am On Mar 16, 2015
The Lagos state police command have arrested a
Muslim cleric, Abdullahi Omobolaji popularly
known as Alfa over allegations of sexual assault
on a 17 year old girl identified as Idowu at Bakare
lane in the Agege area of Lagos state.
According to Punch, the assault on the girl
started in November 2014 after the 40 year old
Alfa who hails from Kwara state lured her to his
room which he used for spiritual consultation and
claimed to have seen a vision that she had been
placed under a curse by a man and that the only
way she can be redeemed was for him (Alfa) to
have sex with her. People still fall for this sh*t?
Continue...
Narrating what transpired between herself and the
Alfa, Idowu said
"It started in November, 2014 when Alf a Abdullahi
called me and said I should always come to meet
him if I needed anything since my dad was dead
and my mum was unable to cater to all my
needs. Later, he told me that he had seen a
vision, adding that a man had placed an evil mark
on me. He asked me to rinse my hand with cold
water which he the put on the fire. When the
water finally boiled and I brought it down, I saw
two cowries and a ring in the water. Alfa said
that was what the man put inside my body and
he (Alfa) was the only man that could remove the
evil mark from me. He said he must sleep with
me three times, and that was how he slept with
me. He said I must never tell anyone what
happened between us and if I did, I would die just
like my father did a few years back"
Idowu said a few days after her first encounter,
Alfa called her to go and buy an egg which he
instructed her to rub all over her body
"Then he said I should break it. I found seven
needles in the egg. Alfa then said he would have
to sleep with me seven times. I pleaded with him
not to since he only recently slept with me three
times, but he insisted on doing it, “she said
Idowu's mother who is a Fashion designer said it
was one of her customers who informed her of
the development. She confronted Alfa who
reportedly beat her up for accusing him of such a
crime. Men of the Isokoko Police Division in
Agege were later invited and Alfa was arrested
last Wednesday, March 11th.
However, a family member of the Alfa who spoke
anonymously said the Alfa and Idowu were in a
relationship and that she was only framing the
Alfa
"The girl framed up the cleric. They have been
sleeping with each other since last year.”he said
Meanwhile the Lagos state Police command
spokesperson, Kenneth Nwosu while confirming
the matter said the case would be called up in
court today March 16th.
