Representatives of the Fulani Community today have petitioned the Nigerian Senate for Calling the

herdsmen terrosrist.
This was revealed via the official tweeter handle of the Senate after the representatives had an emergency meeting with the senate president Sen Bukola Saraki

Again, suspected Fulani herdsmen on Monday invaded Igbongun com­munity in Tsaav Ward of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, killing five people.
Only last Sunday, the herds­men struck in Tse Wankyor in the same Tsaav Ward and killed 10 and injured several others.
Yesterday’s incident brings the death toll from the two at­tacks to 15.
A source told The AUTHOR­ITY that the armed herders numbering over 50 invaded the community through the neigh­bouring Kente settlement in Tara­ba State at 11pm on Monday and unleashed terror on the people with their sophisticated weapons.
He claimed that six motorcy­cles were carted away by the ram­paging herdsmen.
The District Head of Tsaav, His Royal Highness (HRH) Jo­seph Ivuen, told The AUTHOR­ITY that the attack was unwar­ranted because they have never had issues with the Fulani cattle rearers.

The monarch said that the community had been desert­ed for fear of further attacks and called on the Federal Govern­ment to provide a lasting solu­tion to the continued invasion of Benue villages by the herdsmen.
The Chairman of Ukum Lo­cal Government Area, Hon. Si­mon Kachina, who confirmed the attacks, said that they were strange because the affected com­munities never had issues with the herdsmen and charged the authorities to intensify efforts to­wards ending such barbaric acts.
The council boss who gave the names of victims whose bod­ies had been recovered as Kery­um Mku, Terkura Ajo and Ter­hemba Gwa, added that the search for others had continued.
Kachina said: “It is most un­fortunate and the most worri­some aspect of these attacks lies in the fact that they are normal­ly carried out during cropping season and for a local govern­ment whose economic mainstay is farming, the continued sacking of our people will not augur well for our economic survival. I am appealing especially to the Fed­eral Government to put in efforts that will curtail the barbaric acts of these headsmen.”
The member represent­ing Ukum, Logo and Katsina/Ala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Emmanuel Udende, said that a public hearing into the contin­ued attacks on Benue commu­nities by the herdsmen had be­gun at the Lower House.
Through his Special Assis­tant on Media, Mr. Jerry Iorn­gaem, who was at the ravaged community, the lawmaker urged his constituents not to resort to self-help.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, con­firmed the attacks.

OSOGBO—The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun State chapter, yesterday warned President Muhammadu Buhari against acts capable of plunging the country into civil war, saying tampering with the constitutionally guaranteed immunity of governors would spell doom for the country.

The party, in a statement issued in Osogbo by its Director of Research, Publicity and Strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi, urged the President to immediately drop plans to alleged plans to impose travel ban on governors of Rivers and Ekiti states – Nyesom Wike and Ayo Fayose, respectively, saying there was nothing done to Buhari by the duo that Rauf Aregbesola of Osun did not do to Goodluck Jonathan while he was in office.

Odeyemi said the same Section 308 of the constitution that gives the President immunity also provides the governors with same leverage, adding that, instead of tinkering with the idea of travel ban on the governors, if any security infraction is noticed, the President should approach the court.

Recalling how the PDP Obasanjo-led Federal Government approached the court when the administration of Senator Bola Tinubu created local government areas in Lagos State, Odeyemi opined that adding the salt of travel ban on governors with immunity which is the same as the president, to the injury of constant flouting of court orders by the Buhari administration in the last one year is not portraying the president as a true democrat.

The statement reads in part: “Since the news broke of plans by Buhari to ban PDP governors Ayo Fayose and Nyesom Wike from travelling using Department of State Security, DSS, as threat, images of events of the past years have kept on reappearing

“We don’t want anything that can truncate this democracy. Attempt to strip two PDP governors of their immunity is capable of enacting civil war .”

The party then called on all past leaders to prevail on President Buhari to shelve the idea to save the country of needless tension and constitutional crises.

Uma Eleazu’s bombshell: Nigeria may not survive

When the history of constitution making is written in Nigeria, the name of Dr. Uma Oke Eleazu will be scrolled in bold prints. The octogenarian has made sterling contributions towards building the nation. In 1976, he was appointed Director/Coordinator of the National Policy Development Centre (Think Tank), a post he held until the body metamorphosed into the present National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos and he became its pioneer Director of Research. He has authored many books.
He was a member of the 1979 Constitution drafting committee. He was also a member of the committee that drafted the 1999 Constitution and in 2006, he also served on the committee set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to look into the constitution.He had also served as Executive Director of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and a former Chairman of Petroleum Product Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of NNPC.In 1993, he ventured into politics and aspired to be the president on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In this interview, the technocrat and elder statesman warned that Nigeria may die if urgent attention is not paid to rebuild its faulty foundation. Excerpts:
How can you describe the state of the nation?
There are people who don’t want to hear other voices. Currently, there are too many voices, people saying one thing or the other. In the cacophony, it is difficult to know which to listen to as authentic voice. That is why sometimes, some of us prefer to say nothing.
The state of the nation is parlous; if it was a human being, the sickness is such as is likely to end in death if not properly handled. To begin with, if you say ‘state of the nation’, which nation? Nigeria is a state cobbled together by the British. It was our dream that the various nationalities will in the course of time become a nation. We have failed in that regard. So, Nigeria is not a nation. We can ask what is the state of the Federation? We can divide as the academics do and ask, are we talking about the economy, polity, or the society at large. We should take them one after the other.

The politics of Nigeria is based on a constitution. As a federation, there is a constitution, which is a contract between the nationalities that formed the federation. That constitution is in trouble because the operators, especially since January 15, 1966, have deviated from what the constitution was intended to be. It is no longer even today the classic federation, where each of the federating units come together to decide what power and how power is to be shared and in the process they decide how much power should be given up by each of the federating units to a central government, which becomes a federal government and how much power will be retained at the level of the federating units. But since the military took over in 1966 and started tinkering with the original constitution, things have not been the same. If you look at the process of states creation, first it was 12 states, then 19, 21 and 36 plus Abuja making 37; none of the states can be considered to be a federating unit. After these states were created, the military government did another thing; they changed the fiscal basis of a federation into the fiscal basis of a unitary system of government and that is why they created a Federation Account. The states that were created and the local governments under them became sub units of that unitary government first in Lagos and now in Abuja. So, we are no longer running really a federal system of government. What we are running is a unitary system of government in which other levels of government depend on the central government for their own survival. Because of that change in the constitution, the other levels of government abdicated their governing functions and depend only on getting money from the centre and spending it. There are few of the states that can say they have internally generated revenue due to their own activities. Some of the things they called, IGR, eventually also depended on laws created or made by the central government, including local taxes, sales taxes, VAT. They were all created by the central government. The Bible says, when the foundations are destroyed what can the righteous do?
The foundation of what was Federal Republic of Nigeria has been destroyed by the military and so, it won’t stand, and that is why constitutional conference after constitutional conference, people keep on going back to, ‘we want resource control; we want zones and we want regions’.
Do you think we still need another constitutional conference when the report of the last one set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan has not been looked into?
It depends on what President Buhari wants to do. If I were in his position, I would bring back the report of that conference and examin it and be properly advised. I read the other day that the Senate is embarking on another constitutional review, with Ekweremadu again as the chairman of that committee. If you don’t read the daily parts, you will not know what went on in the constitutional conference. Part of my library is full of the 2005 Obasanjo’s aborted third term. It is in those daily reports that you see the sentiments of those who attended the conference. What the president and NASS need to do is to get the report of the last conference, look through it and decide what to do with it; to put it to the people through a referendum.
The president is fighting a corruption war and some are accusing him of singling the opposition in the war when some of his cabinet members whom they alleged are corrupt are treated as sacred cows because they funded his election, what is you take on that?
They have created that impression, and if it is not so, let them prove it. What we see is that majority of those that the EFCC is taking to court or probing are people in the other party. One will say, because they were the people in power, therefore they had their hands in the honey pot. The other people in the opposition didn’t have their hands in the honey pots, so there is nothing to probe. But when you realised that 40 percent of those who are in APC jumped from PDP, some are still joining so as to be covered and run away from the probe; that distracts from what people expected from what the president said he was going to do. I have the same impression that this thing is warped the way they are doing it. It doesn’t mean that any PDP person who has stolen money shouldn’t be prosecuted. If there is any APC among them who stole money, he should be prosecuted; that is justice; otherwise, in the end, he has fought nothing.
Bishop Kukah said recently that Nigerians are more divided now that ever before. There is this frenzy for the actualization of Biafra, there is the Shiites, Boko Haram in the North, OPC in the West and the Fulani herdsmen clashes with nationalities in the North central and the South. Against this background, do you entertain any fear for this country and what is it?

My fear is that this country may not survive. I have said it earlier that it is in a parlous state. It may die, and won’t be the first country that has ceased to exist as it was. It is a truth unless somebody is not looking at what is going on. That is what I referred to as cracks in this house called Nigeria. The foundation is weak, and has been destroyed. So, one has to get back to the foundation and draw up a constitution, which everybody will agree as a way of going back to true federal system, based on the ethnic nationalities that are now coming up. In 1953, we only talked of regions; by 1956, people started talking of, ‘we are minorities among these regions’. The East had its own minority problem; the West had its own minority problem, likewise the North. That was why Sir Wilkins Commission was set up. Fear is a major ingredient in destabilising any system.
If we do not address those fears, this country cannot stand. Sir Wilkins Commission had reasons why it didn’t recommend creation of more states before independence and said, if your policies addressed the fears of the minorities, they would have no more fears.Firm administrative structures should allay those fears, but it has not, and instead what we have is more and more recriminations among the ethnic groups. You mentioned the frenzy over Biafra. When the original Biafra was declared, what is now South-south, much of it was part of that Biafra. Those who are looking for the present Biafra, will it include South-south. There is another group, Lower Niger Peoples Congress. That is almost coterminous with the original Biafra. Have we asked ourselves whether in this Lower Niger Congress, the Ijaw people are ready to be in it and cooperate seriously with the Ibibio, Igbo etc. In other words, even within the Lower Niger group, there is a problem. Come to the West, in the Kogi, Ilorin areas, there is still problem. There was this Ilorin-Kaba merger, which Chief Awolowo made a point at the Constitutional conference in 1956 and it nearly broke this country because he said Ilorin and Kaba must be merged to the Western Region. The issue is coming back again, people are writing history about the Afonja, how the North conquered them before and that Ilorin is a vassal to Sokoto, and so you can’t touch it.
My fear for this country is that if we don’t do anything quickly with the foundation, which is the constitution, and agree on how we are going to live together, it will fall apart.

The renewed attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region may in no way be nearing an end following the recent threat by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). The group has restated its threat to carry on with the bombing

of oil installations in the region until the Federal Government accedes to its demands.

NDA, a new militant group, had taken up arms against the government in what it claimed to be its own way of pressing for fair deal for the people of Niger Delta, especially in the allocation of oil blocs.

NDA is also demanding release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in detention for close to five months. The group said it wants the release of the IPOB leader as part of

conditions for ceasation of hostility in the region.

Besides the conditions, the group has also issued a quit notice to former vice

president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and General Theophilus Danjuma, to vacate

the Niger Delta area or face dire consequences.

The group recently gave a twoweek deadline to multi-national oil firms

to vacate the region, reiterating its threat to cripple the nation’s economy.

The Niger Delta Avengers’ threat is coming against the backdrop of the

claim by some former militant leaders who reportedly denied being part of

the amnesty programme put in place by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

Sunday Sun gathered that some of the militant leaders are currently regrouping

and spoiling for war against the Federal Government.

Notable among these emerging groups is a group known as the Concerned

Militant Leaders (CML), which existence came to public consciousness

shortly after the arrest, detention and the incarceration of the leader of the

Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

CML’s solidarity with the detained IPOB leader was preceded by the call by

Niger Delta People’s Democratic Front (NDPDF) for his release. The Niger Delta

People’s Democratic Front (NDPDF) is led by Precious Iyoyo (aka General

Playboy). The group had warned the Federal Government of the consequences

of keeping Kanu in detention, describing it as provocative.

CML, through its spokesperson, who preferred to be addressed as General

Ben, had earlier in January, given a 31- day ultimatum to the Federal Government

to release Kanu, and vowed to launch attacks on oil installations as well

as Federal Government establishments.

The group had also warned that failure to release Kanu could force it to resort to

the kidnapping of expatriates.

Sunday Sun gathered that CML’s operations transcend the Niger Delta region.

This same group, it was gathered, was alleged to be responsible for the attack

on a merchant ship in February. The incident happened before the expiration

of 31-day ultimatum given by the CML.

In a statement released online, General Ben admitted that his group carried

out the operation, off Bakassi Peninsula on Nigerian waterways. He threatened

that his men would blow up the vessel and members of the crew onboard, adding

that the attack was carried out, “to let the government know that the group

does not make empty threats.”

Reacting to the group’s threat, the Federal Government had threatened to

treat the group like common criminals and saboteurs. Not deterred by the

threat, the group followed up with more attacks and blowing up of oil pipelines,

as well as killings of security personnel.

Sunday Sun gathered that the warlords are enjoying the backing of some

retired military officers who feel disgruntled over their premature retirement

from service. But, the CML has severally denied this.

Reacting to the claim, General Ben said the group had been on the struggle

for many years, adding that CML is moved by the realities in the country

and not influenced by any individual because, according to him, the supposed

backers could turn out to be saboteurs.

“Nobody is pushing us; we are the ones pushing ourselves because nobody

is a blind man in this country. The injustice, the marginalization going on

in this country is very clear. There is so much hardship, poverty in this country

and a few persons are controlling our commonwealth, while we are dying

of hunger. How can we be happy in a situation like this?

“Even if we are being backed up, does it really matter? If millions of people

are suffering and few individuals are acquiring wealth here and there, who

is selfish? We are saying that Nigerian government is selfish and we must resist

that.

“To us, the Federal Government has no case against Nnamdi Kanu. If they

refuse to let him go, we will refuse to let them have peace. There is no law in Nigeria.

The laws are targeted at the poor, not the rich. Court would say release this

person; government would refuse. So, there is no law because some individuals

seem to be above law. There is high level of impunity in this country.

“That is why we have decided to leave this country to another where

there would be rule of law. And that is Biafra. We strongly believe we would

achieve it by the grace of God. We are undaunted. It is obvious. Nothing would

make us back out from the struggle.

It is a vow. Look at the South-south region, the nation’s source of wealth for

instance. What shows that we are part of the country? You use the money from

this region to develop other areas and impoverish us,” he said.

General Ben said that CML is part of the NDA, stating that his group is in

support of the two-week ultimatum issued by Niger Delta Avengers to the oil

firms in the region. Similarly, the CML spokesman restated the group’s earlier

order that Fulani herdsmen should leave the region.

On the attacks on oil facilities, General Ben gave kudos to the NDA warriors,

describing the group’s activities as a welcome development to liberate the

Niger Delta region and their brothers in South-east. He warned that their next

targets would be Exxonmobil and Frontier Oil firms.

“What can forestall the execution of this operation is for the authorities

concerned to pay prompt attention to the issues that necessitated this agitation.

We want to cripple the economy of the country and to show the people ruling

this country that, militancy now is not and will not be what they witnessed

several years ago. We are reformed and have learnt from the past.”

On the likely consequences of the military/militants war already declared

by the Defence Headquarters, the CML spokesperson said it was unfortunate

that innocent people might be affected but he added that it was the price such

people might have to pay.

Reacting to a recent statement, where another group of militants condemned

the recent activities of NDA, the CML spokesperson described them as sellouts.

He said they were few individuals that had ‘dined with Federal Government’.

“We will not reply them; but we will surprise them beyond their imagination.

These persons know that they have nothing to say or do. The people countering

us are those that have dined with Federal Government. We are not going

to reply them. We are going to surprise them.

ts no news that Militant of the Niger Delta have resumed hostilities in the delta but this time in a different way. Powerful militant groups are resurrecting daily, this newly structured militants seemed to have affinity with the Eastern states and the common factor in all their demands, is the unconditional release of Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi...
They also appear are dead ready to give President Muhammadu Buhari and the governors of the South South and South East states the hell of trouble should they fail to accede to their demands and liberate not just their zones but the whole region of the old eastern states.
The question everyone is asking is why ?

Could it be fueled by the emergence of a northern president Buhari?
Or due to the military attitude or dictatorial comments from president Buhari who prefers to use force when the delta is involve but would rather be mute on activities of herdsmen and negotiate with world renowned terrorist Boko Haram ?
Could it also be because Nnamdi Kanu have succeeded in uniting the separated ethnicity of the old eastern states (south east and south south who where separated because of the British divide and rule tactics) ?

Or because Nnamdi Kanu has defeated Nigeria without shooting a bullet but rather through propagating the message of freedom to most people from the old eastern states ?
During the reign of the previous set of militants who where offered amnesty by late president Yaradua the agitation for Biafra has not gotten to the magnitude it has now and the Niger Delta militant didn’t have a greater cause to fight for apart from revenue shares and development of their zones.
Who are this new sets of militants propping out by the day ?
Are they this new militants ? are they the same ones offered amnesty some years back? or are they the younger boys of the lords of the creeks who where forced to retire their militant activities in the Delta?
I can count five new militant group who recently emerged and have vowed to cripple the Nigeria economy, worst of all is that this militant have learnt the secrecy lessons form Boko Haram and have choose to remain faceless to everyone making it more difficult for the Nigerian Government to crush because you can only fight what you see and who you know, not a ghost or a shadow.
President Buhari must understand that this militant are powerful and very formidable using violence means to get them will lead to more trouble and lost of live as they are determined to continue their activities, diplomacy and negotiation should always be used rather than utterances that further chase peace to the wind and provoke more dangerous group to emerge.
Remember nobody have the monopoly of violence, the Nigerian government should seek peaceful means of resolving this issue and save Nigerians from the doom this violence can create.

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) : this are the most prominent of them all in recent time and have to their names one of the greatest tactical under water oil installation attack and the highest number of militant activities in the Delta.

Concerned Militant Leaders (CML): this is another group who have threatened to bomb more flow stations in the delta, even as they lambasted the governors of their zones for cowardly allowing the federal government’s indirect war against their domains without resistance.

Restoration Force (RF): This is another group who centers more on freedom fighting and defending the old eastern region than just fighting for oil revenue allocation.

Isoko Liberation Movement (ILM): This particular new group sounds more brutal, and has given a rather fierce advice to I.P.O.B, that peaceful protest will not achieve anything, they threatened to blow up all oil wells in Isoko land, if Nnamdi Kanu was not released in 7 days.

FIRST, let me say that the plan of the Fulanis to subtly take over Nigeria has been an old plan. Let me also say that, the cattle Fulanis are one ethnic group in Nigeria. Not all the Fulanis are cattle rearers. Only the cattle Fulani are. There are other Fulanis in the Fulani ethnic group who are not cattle rearers.

They are called the Town Fulanis. They are not the ones who are asking for the grazing rights. It is unfortunate that Mrs. Kure used her dignified position to take a lead in writing a law that could enable the cattle Fulanis take over Nigeria.

We also remember that the Federal Government set up the Nomadic Commission to assist the cattle Fulani on how to go about their business. I served on this Nomadic Commission for more than 3 years in Kaduna.

It is equally strange that Mrs. Kure was writing a law on cattle rearing and grazing in the country without reference to the existence of the Nomadic Commission set up by the Federal Government.

This Nomadic Commission is in Kaduna. Let me caution, that cattle rearing is an occupation of one ethnic group. Any attempt to legislate, so that the cattle Fulani be given a legal authority to move into every town in Nigeria and acquire land against the wishes of the people will back fire. This legal backing might bring Nigeria to an end. It is an attempt to give the Fulani grazing rights in every part of Nigeria, in spite of their condemnable atrocities in different parts of the country. As a member of the Nomadic Commission for sometime, we did everything to domesticate the cattle Fulanis.

We even wrote books in Fulfude language which we used to teach this nomadic Fulanis in schools set up by the Nomadic Commission. The school is a success so far but the nomadic Fulanis do not want to settle down in one place, so that they can go to school and be domesticated.

The attempt to have grazing field in every part of Nigeria, shows that the Federal Government is sponsoring one occupation as a national occupation. Federal Government should know that it is wrong to throw its weight behind one profession. The cattle Fulanis by their nature cannot settle in one place, and therefore cannot be domesticated. And Federal Government has no right to back one profession among many professions in the country. We have the migrant fishermen in the South and also in the North. The government has not considered it necessary to acquire strategic waters in the country so that fishermen could carry on their job.

Dangers to Nigeria: I see the move to acquire land compulsorily for only one profession (cattle rearing) as dangerous. Will the Federal Government also acquire rivers and streams wherever necessary so that fishermen in the North and in the South can have fishing rights?

No. l think this is another step by the Fulanis to expand to other parts of Nigeria. I recall the struggles of the Fulanis with the Birom people in the North, in Plateau State; they struggled with the indigenous population in Nasarawa, now by their current record they have occupied Bukuru and driven away the indigenous settlers.

What happened in Agatu is planned to drive away the indigenous settlers and take the whole place in the name of cattle rearing.

Their horrible behaviour: Let me draw attention to their method of operations. They have come as far as to Ndokwa, Balyesa, Enugu, and their method of operation is to kill the indigenous settlers and take over the land. It is a tragedy that the president of Nigeria has not opened his mouth to make a statement condemning the massacre of innocent citizens by the Fulanis. We know that the President is a Fulani man but that is not the reason for him to condemn the Boko Haram and not condemn the massacre of innocent citizens by his own ethnic group, the Fulanis. Many people have been massacred. The President was belatedly forced by the public outcry to make a feeble condemnation.

Nigerians are watching to see the next move to acquire land compulsorily. This cannot happen. We are in a Federation and you cannot force cattle rearing on communities by force.

Sense of nationalism

In Enugu they massacred more than 46 persons in Nsukka, this shows that the Fulanis want to move into locations by force. Let us warn the Fulanis that no ethnic group has a monopoly of violence. Their method of operation is an insult to Nigeria, and all Nigerians must open their eyes and watch the activities of the Fulanis. The President must show a sense of nationalism.

He cannot keep silent and pretend that he does not know what is going on. Other ethnic groups in the North, in the Yoruba communities, in the Igbo territories, in the Ijaw territories are watching and will react accordingly very soon.

“This nation called Nigeria shall be an estate to us from our great grandfather Othman Dan Fodio. We shall resist any change. We shall manipulate the minorities of the North and declare the South as a conquered territory”

Let me draw Mr. President’s attention to a reality. He has his hands on many things in Nigeria. Adding the Fulani problems is not in his interest. The Fulanis want to acquire Nigeria by force. It is the first step towards destroying this nation because neither the Yorubas nor, the Igbos nor, the Ijaws nor the Biroms will close their eyes and watch the cattle Fulanis take over Nigeria.

Perhaps there is wisdom in what the American said years ago “that Nigeria will be soon break up”. Prophet Ayodele a few weeks ago had predicted that Nigeria might disintegrate into about six autonomous nations. Let me caution that over the years the Igbos, have been massacred in the North in 1945, 1953, 1960s. These massacres forced Ojukwu to declare that he was going to stop sacrificing the Igbos in the name of Nigerian unity. But let us go back to history and recall the statement made by Ahmadu Bello just the very month of our independence. He said;

This was published in 1960 in a magazine. Perhaps the Fulanis are trying to implement of this statement by Ahmadu Bello. The Fulanis are stressing the need for the Northerner to take over the whole country. It is not by massacring the existing population and moving in with their cattle. No.

While we encourage the Government to modernize cattle rearing, and encourage the Fulanis to develop grazing in the savannah area of the North, Federal Government can assist them to have professional cattle rearing. This requires heavy investment in the savannah where suitable grass can be cultivated.

But let me also remind Mr. President that those who rear cattle in America, Brazil and other places are industrialists who have bought land with their own money. They may be assisted by government to buy lands. Mr. President is well advised to send people to America and Brazil to see how to modernize cattle rearing and do so in Nigeria. In the North grass is abundant. Rearing cattle in the tropical area of Rivers State, Bayelsa, Delta State is a wrong venture because very soon tse-tse-flies will engulf this area and the cattle will begin to die natural death. We are aware that the drying up of the desert is pushing them down South. The situation must be handled with care not by force

The Fulanis will not force Nigerians to react accordingly. If the President does not talk, people will talk. And when people begin to talk tension will begin to rise; the problem Nigeria will face will be more than the fuel scarcity which Mr. President has not been able to handle. If he has the intention of the Fulanis to forcefully acquire land, something is wrong.

The Yorubas certainly will not watch the Fulani’s invade their county, with the impunity with which the cattle rearers enter other states to kidnap and destroy farms calls for national resistance. The Yoruba’s are meeting. Other ethnic groups will meet and will give the cattle Fulanis an appropriate response if Mr. President does not step into the matter and defend Nigeria.

Finally, l want to invite Mrs. Kure and all those who are drafting the said laws on acquiring grazing land compulsorily to refer their case to Nomadic Commission of the Federal Government. I served on the Nomadic Commission Board. Books were written to domesticate the cattle Fulani and send them to school. The Nomadic Commission has registered some successes. But I do not think that the Nomadic Commission has ever recommended that the migrant Fulanis should acquire land compulsorily or settle in the areas compulsorily, by massacring the indigenes of the place. Such a move will lead to a massive resistance. It will also lead to various states expelling the cattle Fulanis from their state unless Mr. President does something that is noble and just.

Mr. President swore to protect Nigeria. He should been seen protecting Nigeria. He must not be seen keeping silent and allowing his ethnic group the cattle Fulanis to move into various states and kill people at will. This cannot happen. Nigeria is a Federation. One profession, the cattle rearing, cannot be legislated to be a National profession for which land must be compulsorily acquired. We need lands for agriculture. As cattle rearing is important to the Fulanis, so Agriculture is important to the Yorubas, to the Igbos, to the Balyesa, to Edo people, to Anambra people, to Kogi people. And nobody will fold his hands and allow this massacre to continue. Let the massacre of people at Nsukka be the last. If Mr. President cannot protect Nigeria from his own ethnic group then Nigerians must protect themselves from the Fulanis. Enough is enough.

We fought the civil war because the Igbos were massacred several times in the North and the last massacre lead to the civil war, Ojukwu declared that this should be the last time the Igbos will make supreme sacrifice in the interest of one Nigeria. I call on Mr. President to rise up as a President of Nigeria not as a Fulani man and condemn what the Fulanis are doing before it destroys Nigeria.

I was talking with a Yoruba friend on December 18, 2015 and it was really a funny discussion. At first he said Roland the Southsouth is not part of Biafra and I responded to him that we are. I had to educate him that we are one indivisible people. That the states strategy today was formulated to divide us and it has not worked.
I asked him, “the Governor of my State (Delta State) where is he from?” I could feel how cold he became when he received my response, that my State Governor is an Igbo man and he is called Arthur Okowa Ifeanyi. Governor Okowa was born at Owa-Alero in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The next he said was that we would suffer under the Igbos. I had to bring him up to speed, that there would not be any thing like that. The whole states in Biafra are blessed with mineral resources and every state shall be responsible for its land and the resources it contains.
Then he said, “the Igbos will fight with us.” My response is, we and the Igbos are one people who are bounded together by same ideology; culture and religious belief and these are the criteria that form the basis for peaceful coexistence.
At this point; he realize that I am not one of those the Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba can deceive with their divisive strategy against my Igbo brothers.
At least; I asked him one question which he could not answer me. I asked him the following:
(a). Why are the Yorubas and Fulani/Hausa fighting really hard to ensure that they create divide between the one people of the Southsouth and Southeast?
(b). Could it be that they love the people of the Southsouth so much and wanted them to join Arewa or Oodua?
(c). Could it be because they are very interested in their economic; political and sociological development and want to ensure that they are developed when they join Oodua or Arewa?
(d). Is it the Igbos who shared the Niger Delta which include Abia and Imo into oil blocks among themselves?
(e). Is it the Igbos who fight against true Federalism and Resource Control which we have been clamouring for over the years?
(f). Is it the Igbos that shut down all the ports in the SouthSouth (Port Harcourt; Sapele; Koko; Calaber; Warri) for the port in Lagos just to kill the commerce in SouthSouth and SouthEast?
(g). Is it the Igbos that fault and kill the PIB proposed with 10% community share?
(i). Is it the Igbos that concession Onne Port to Atiku Abubakar to continue the exploit of the people of Rivers State?
Till now I am still expecting answer from my friend…
