Hello guys.

So I've been away from Nairaland for a while.

I got a job recently and its both been amazing and stressful. LOL.

I will like to share with you how I did it. How I moved from unemployed to picking the exact job I feel comfortable with in just a few months. How I built my confidence and got a good job.

After I graduated from school, I was very scared of what the future held for me considering the fact that everybody was crying that there were no jobs in the country. During service, I decided to take matters into my hands and develop myself. I discovered that the world was moving fast toward digital and very soon, all companies in the country will be looking for people to manage their social media presence. So, I took a number of online courses and got a lot of certifications as a digital marketer.

I sought for work experience by doing free work for people and I developed my self-confidence. I developed myself to that point where I could apply anywhere for jobs. And I did apply to a lot of places. Wherever I went, my certifications and work experience spoke for me. I got a number of offers but I only choosed the one that was beneficial to me. The one that was close to my house (I cannot wake up by 4:00am to prepare for work abeg), that paid well and that valued me.

That's it guys. A brief summary of my journey. I still keep on developing myself and I still keep on growing but I know I will never be at a point where I am out of job or broke. Because my skills will always show up for me.

To all those out there who are looking for jobs or working at scrappy places because of low opportunities, I will like to tell you that there is no such thing as no opportunity or low opportunity. You have to create opportunities for yourself. It doesn't matter how old you are or how young you are. What matters is what you are going to do to make yourself a better version of you and the steps you will take to place yourself above the stringent conditions that are prevalent in this country.

In summary, develop yourself. Learn new skills (preferably digital skills because digital is the present and the future) and gather experiences.
