4 personal fouls on Steph. ![]() You can't make this up. The go-to move on televised games. |
SmooshCHN:Jaylen getting away with a lot of bad fouls. |
Eruditor:7/26 for Klay, KD and Curry. |
SmooshCHN:Really shooting bad or else we would have been out of sight. Peep how Celts got 13FTs in the 2nd Q but had only 1 in the first. Home advantage tinz. ![]() |
SmooshCHN:True. The shooting from KD and Curry has really been off. But we are playing solid D. That foul on Green was no foul. |
Swaggy the only warrior with his shooting hands. KD and Curry have been off. Ball movement really confusing the young celts. |
Curry doubting his shots and hesitating. Lead down to 3. |
Good ball movement from both teams thus far. KD on fire. |
funlord:Oga, there are people on that list who had no aerial prowess or pace. Does it mean pace is not a gift? Please, make una fear God o. I rest my case finally. ![]() |
funlord:So a player's height is not a |
airmark:Can I change the word to capacity? Will it make any difference? What about potential? Courtois as a young chap had the ability (not everyone can) to grow tall. Then he worked on his skill to become a keeper. Unlike Hugo Lloris that physically is not as gifted but perhaps is technically. |
homesteady:I started with taller. They turned it to tallness is a talent. Yes, being physically tall in sports is a Everyone wants it but not everyone has it. Usain Bolts is both physically and technically talented. Same as Zlatan. Those who know, know. |
homesteady: The term talent refers to an inborn and the special ability of a person to do something. A skill is an expertise, which is acquired by the person by learning. Talent is God gifted ability, whereas Skill is an ability in which you put your time and efforts to develop. Every person possesses certain skills and talent, that makes us different from others. We often use the terms talent and skill interchangeably, without knowing the fact that these are different from one anotherRead more: http://keydifferences.com/difference-between-talent-and-skill.html#ixzz4yRMbDfKF |
Nihilist:All short players cannot dribble like Hazard and Messi. That ability to dribble is God-given but it can be harnessed. This qualifies as a technical talent. KDB and Fabregas can kick a ball in a way that Bakayoko can't. Sure, Baka can kick a ball but without the same finesse or accuracy. He lacks that technical gift. Technical talent is the subdivision of talent that can be trained or worked on. There is another subdivision called psychological talent. It is why some players will opt to take the first or last penalty of a dire game whereas the most technically gifted of them may cower from it. The subdivision I am referring to is called physical talent or gift. Some players just naturally look the part. They are tall, strong, sturdy and so on. This talent is not worked on or trained for. You either have it or you don't. My evidence supports me. I would sign only 3 autographs before I leave. |
hensben:Did he not get injured playing for Belgium? Was it not during a training that he got injured? So the game they were training for they did not play it? |
Nihilist:If a pawnstar has long d!ck, many will say he is gifted. That is his physical gift to start with and many times such gifts are inherited genetically which the definition I posted above said. If he cums faster than the Cops in a white neighborhood do that just means he is lacking the technical aspect of his gift. But with the right training he can work on it and be better. I know about Messi and Hazard's low center of gravity but sadly, in our biased world, we do not view being short as a physical gift. Same way we do not view Morata's lack of stamina as a gift. However, players like him, Hazard, Messi and David Silva who seem to lack this physical gift compensate ably with their technical gifts and we respect them for it. It still does not detract from the fact that being tall in football (like other sports) is regarded as a physical I won't get drawn into the talent vs skill debate so much because I am sure you know that one website or dictionary does not possess the exclusive rights to define anything. Others can go online and conduct their own research to see the subtleties between talent and skill and the subdivisions of talents - no matter how ridiculous it sounds....to you. I resist this undeserved L with the strength of 100 virile horses and rest my case. |
Nihilist:There is a distinction between talent and skill. They are not the same. Skills can be worked on but talent not invariably so. You can Google "Talent vs Skill" and you would see this. I know my claim sounds ridiculous because I used a word many don't attribute to height but we can play a little trick and remove talent and place the word "gift" in its stead. I guess I don't sound ridiculous anymore? A player can be technically gifted same way he can be physically gifted. People just tend to prefer the former because that one seems more precipitated by hard work and training whereas the latter is acquired by genetics or happenstance. I know you know this because your English and bent for research is better than some of the other trolls. Please, just search for physical talent and see what turns up. I can present one definition and a corresponding link: To have talent is to possess the ability to excel within a field (either physically or psychologically), generally with much more ease than the majority of the population. Talent often stems from superior genetic inheritance, but can only really be harnessed through hard work and determination.http://sportsscientists.com/2013/11/what-is-talent-your-definitions-and-thoughts-from-david-epstein/ I know my claim is nuanced but I am wholly convinced that I am right. In light of this, I respectfully reject that L. |
hensben:So when Hazard was injured Belgium did not play? So all the teams playing quality football world over Hazard plays for them? |
Greatihex:Of course his rating will improve - he is a very good player. Same way Isco's rating has improved. But Isco is not WPOTY and nobody is calling him that. But look at what people are doing on here. |
hensben:Roberto Martinez. When Hazard was out injured Belgium still played quality football. |
Greatihex:You can list them out for yourself and be honest. |
Greatihex:Again, I believe Hazard is a great player. If you can bring any post of me calling him Ikedia or anything, then your question will be apposite. |
sod09:LOL, guy no fear. Because it is an advantage that is exactly why it is a talent - same way Hazard's dribbling is an advantage or KDBs passing. Only that while the latter 2 "talents" I described are technical talents, a player's height is a physical one. Remember; 1. It is natural or God-given. 2. It presents one with the capacity to do something with it. The boxing aficionados know this but would rather play devil's advocate. Notice how fraudiola is no longer being used this season as oft as it was brandished last time - the name has gone back to Pep. Even you are guilty of this ![]() Men will arrange when the time is right. They are just butt hurt that I alluded that their beloved so-called WPOTY (so-called because he is not there) may be less-talented than KDB. |
Knicks Knicks Knicks ![]() |
Ghen Ghen. They are mounting a come back. |
LEVELAND LAVALIARS. Extra Ls to tell their current story. 80-65 at this point to NYK. Shem. |
airmark:Having pace is a talent but what is Walcott achieving with his own? Zidane had close control and guile etc but he was not pacy which means he had more talents than Walcott even though Theo is way quicker. The point I am trying to make is if a defender cannot use his stamina, strength or height to his advantage it does not mean those things don't qualify as physical talents. You can Google that phrase if you think it is my own coinage. In dire situations Mou opts for Fellaini and pushes him upfront for long balls because of Fellaini's height. That is a natural skill-set Marouane possesses that Messi on his best day will never have. Same way Marouane will never be able to waltz past players like Messi does. If we tabulate all Messi's talents to what Fellaini possesses, we would see Messi is more talented than him, even if Fellaini has that "height talent" over Messi. You may not agree but this is a fact; there are psychological talents, technical talents, sociological talents and physical talents. The latter has categories like height, strength etc under it. Mou realized this and consoled himself that Lukaku would bring that to Man United - what he felt Lacazette would not do if he was signed. He had made the same claim during his time in Madrid when he compared CR7 to Messi and mentioned ororo's height as a "talent" Messi lacked. Signing Drogba (not liking Sheva), preferring Milito to Etoo, signing Adebayor on loan in RM, bringing Drogba back in Chelsea, Demba Ba, Zlatan and now Lukaku. Tall Tall Tall. Height Height Height. (Amongst other things of course). |
birdman:I feel like I am in school all over. |
airmark:You are funny I swear. Don't worry, during Corner kick put Kante to man-mark Fellaini you hear? Afterall, the fact that Fellaini is significantly taller than Kante is not a natural skill-set he enjoys that Kante lacks. |
VargasVee:I never said they will never win it. |
airmark:Of course it is. Llorente may be less talented than Harry Kane but being taller is something he has over Harry Kane. As a result, there are certain goals he would score due to that "talent" that Harry Kane will never be able to score. Temperament in competition is another. Mental toughness is another. That is why some people argue that Hazard "hides" in big games and use it to pan him. Some other players show up better in bigger games. It is a talent whether you agree or not. You're welcome. |
nateevs:I have never insulted Hazard and truly believe he is a top player. But he is a bit overrated going by some things people say here. For e.g, Hazard will not become WPOTY playing in RM or Barca as some have said. If Neymar did not become it, Hazard will not become it. The argument therefore that he needs better players around him (like those teams) to take him to that level (of CR7 and Messi) is fa fa fa foul. |
