It was just like this last season when you guys blew a 3-1 lead with a 73-9 regular season stats. Playoffs would decide it all.

Cavs are facing a lack of intensity, but its still a long season, we gonn deal with that soon.
This is actually escapist. I hope you know this season won't be like last. Any team that takes a 3-1 lead will win it in 4 or 5. That's the danger of making a mistake once.

Mike D' Antoni has his fingerprints all over this Rockets team. They are playing a very fast paced transition offense from the check in, the roaster is filled with 3 point shooters, not 18 feet jump shooters.
Yea. Also Harden seems to be carrying his teammates along this term. They have looked solid in many games with few blow out losses if any. I thought they would have won today but this OT won't favor them. I think GSW will go on to win it now.

Cavs ain't stat whorees. They pick and choose games they want to lose. That's what we are constantly fed on this thread. I am guessing 3-ball isn't/didn't falling/fall today.

Don't sleep on the Rockets, especially their bench led by Eric Gordon. and hey!!!! Harden is playing some defense this season.
Very surprised to see how well they have played this season and even this game. They could very well take the W today. 5 mins to go.

I didn't know NBA seasons had 81 games. Interesting. We learn everyday. Can we move back as far as 1860 for more evidence that a 57-win team could finish as top seeds in the west?
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Eruditor: 9:47am On Nov 30, 2016
When Bucks made it a close game, people said GSW almost lost. I said to myself, "boy I wish we almost lost game 5 or 6 or 7 of the finals"

Almost lost is not always a bad thing.

Anyways, we are stat whorees because it is harder to finish as top seeds in the west. Some other team in the east can have 56wins and finish top. In our Conference, 56wins guarantees you 3rd or 4th seed.
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Eruditor: 1:10pm On Nov 29, 2016
Curry seems to be having a bad season by his standard (so they say). I know one other PG in the east that is having his best season thus far. Some on his thread even said he has a higher ceiling. Anyways, Curry is leading that other PG in assists and points per game as well as having a better 3pt % even after taking way more 3s than said player.

That's why because Gotze scored a WC winning goal does not make him better than Messi that had been doing it all through the season. #StayWoke

I don't know whether na the ejection for game 6 make Curry play rubbish throughout the playoffs OR na the ref help LeBron and Kyrie dey score points. Even the Green wey dem for don suspend for WCF or Curry wey throw catapult for fan face, no suspension.
If na only Klay and Curry dem dey nudge, wetin come do bench, Barnes even Iguodala? Or Tristan wey bully Green for rim. I still dey research sha on how Curry bricks dey linked to hin ejection.
I don get the answer. Na because say Bogut no play sad
Sophistry.

1. Each time someone is put on the line another player from the opposing team is racking up fouls. It is the way it goes.

2. Played rubbish through out? Media narrative. 27ppg before the finals, 22 after the finals with a 3-1 lead. Yea, rubbish indeed.

3. Ejection day he dropped 30pts but make jokes about bricks so that masons will laugh.

All those are termed "EXCUSES" depending in which side you're on.. But how else can you come back FROM 3-1 against the best team in the NBA? It's all talent they'll say.. No help from officials or the league or whatsoever. Suddenly the Cavs were just too talented or too hot to handle or in my opinion cheesy, we didn't play with enough motivation and fire

We also went 24-0 streak and went 73-9 and thought we could beat everyone na. sad
Besides, Cavs shot better 3pts than all teams in the last playoffs till they met GSW and thought it would continue. After they were walloped left right and center and were 3-1 down they switched back to nudging Klay and Curry while refs unlooked. Obviously they rebounded better and went to the rim without Bogut or Draymond. Then when games got close like in the 4th quarter of game 6 (and when GSW were definitely on the up) having reduced what was like a 25point deficit to 4 points, they counted on the refs to give Curry 3 flimsy fouls (which should have been 2 steals and a flop from LBJ) with the refs eventually ejecting Curry.

So we implore them to shoot 3points on the 25th of December and be reminded again why they were down 5-1 after playing GSW 6 times at that point by game 4.

Lol. Savage. As a spurs fan, the Nba wanted Warriors in finalsand they wanted Cavs to get their first ring. It was so obvious that the Nba helped both teams.
Lovely thread over here thouggh.
The game that Draymond was not ejected GSW lost. They also lost the next game after it. No advantage whatsoever. A clear advantage for example would be a situation where Curry gets nudged and tossed all playoffs long and refs call it a foul even up to game 4 of the finals. After game 4, refs started unlooking it and giving bigger and far stronger players easier fouls. Sometimes when you see 40+ points check to see if they did not get 17 FTs while at it.

Common! Just beating the Cavs is good for me. I don't care if it's the last shot of game 7, just beat them.
Too early for that though.
Cavs will reach the final, too early is only for GSW. The East is a joke really. I am hoping Boston Celtics just help slow Cavs down some how. I have lost faith in Toronto even though they would be a solid play off team. As for GSW, I do fear SAS more than Clippers but I am still observing the latter with a pin-hole Camera.

You made a good observation about the Spurs. Historically, Pops game has not been predicated by pace, however, the current pace of his team is quite slow. Also, new pick up Pau is a horrible pick and roll defender, he not better under the rim either, this also accounts for the pace of offense.

My problem with the Clippers has been historical (Mental, Behavioral and Tactical indiscipline) . Do u notice players like JJ Redick and DJ rarely play 4th quarters? they would have to rely heavily on their bench to carry them through the conference during the post season. Also, Griffin would have to play with power under the rim. In a bid to expand his game, with the inclusion of jump shots and 3's, i think he is gradually straying away from his "barbecue chicken"!!!!which is under the rim.

During the post season, the games slow down, it becomes a half court game. half court games mean you have to build offense through tactics because easy transition buckets would become difficult. Griffin's jump shot can be taken away by opponents during the post season. Their offense would have to rely on CP3, Speights and a streaky J. Crawford who has struggled this season.

I just hope they stay healthy this post season, and if they fail to get to the conference finals i think it would be appropriate to call them a bust.
I couldn't agree more really.

I don't think anyone is sleeping on the Warriors, no one should, if anything, I kind of disagree with their Villain identity this season. It is virtually impossible for the Warriors to play under the radar this season, not after adding the purest scorer in the league.

The expectations are fair, and i believe they have the roaster to win the western conference. Like i mentioned in my previous post, i am not buying the Clippers, especially not with regular season records or display. The Spurs, Rockets, Thunder, Trailblazers, Thunder and Grizzlies are either not deep or talented enough.

The western conference is the Warriors to lose
Spurs look slower and less athletic. I wonder why because I think Pop tried to fix those issues following last season. James Harden is much improved this year trying to make the assists in the first 2 quarters and then carry the game later on. I think along with GSW and Cavs they rely on the 3-ball a tad too oft. For that reason, they may struggle. I still fear the Clippers for this very reason; they are not so reliant on the 3-ball.

The Lakers are a sweet team to watch I swear.. Westbrook just never wants to learn or listen..
Stat-padder Westbrook. What makes him great also makes him stoopid. 5secs on the clock with 2 viable options left and right. Adams for the easy dunk or West brook can drive right and hit his lay up or off-the glass shot. My guy thought to himself "Am I not Curry?" Stepped back and launched a fatuous 3. I could not stop laughing. I am sure KD laughed too telling his mum "that's exactly why I left OKC"

That team...
Their defence, offense, even bench sef upon say The Truth no dey. Team that doesn't rely on 3's like Cavs and Warriors but still topping? Mehnnn

CP3 and Griffin are the heart of the Clippers. If CP3 gets injured, Clippers got 50% chance of winning a game. Take Griffin off, we down to 10 - 20%.

If Clippers continue till the end, Griffin could be in MVP mentions so far he maintains this momentum. He's been upgraded this season. He rarely misses free throws, his footwork has improved. We all had a glimpse of what Griffin can do against Spurs penultimate playoffs and he's showing it this season. Let's just pray injury doesn't get the better of them. Ooh Mpa really wants to see them at the NBA finals.

Another version 2.0 this season»»»»»»»»»» DEROOOOZZZZAAAANNN!!!
I agree with everything except MVP which I think would go to CP3 because he runs all their play and in reality is their most valuable player. Blake is however not far behind at all.

If injury does not get the better of them, then it will be very close with GSW for which team to play the Cavs at the finals but for obvious reasons my money is still on GSW grin

I am not being entirely tendentious though, I don't think Clippers have an answer for KD and even though their bench is better than GSWs, I barely ever see the bench increase a lead for them when the starters are resting. It gives me hope that GSW stands a chance. Of course, any day the 3 ball falls for KD, Curry and Klay, no matter which team, GSW wins.

Lakers are doing good.. That young team is doing wonders.. Kerr and the rest of the team should start thinking about what we really want. I've never agreed with our defense from day 1 and that over reliance on the 3 ball
I think people are too focused on 73-9 tbh. I learnt that lesson the hard way last season when despite everything they still choked a 3-1 lead and gave naysayers more ammunition to keep running their mouths.

I see your point about defense but that defense was great against Portland and OKC which makes me feel that they can turn it up when they need to. What I see more often than not is complacency which can happen now but not the P/Os.

Just let them have their stop and starts while they find rhythm and the right amount of chemistry. It is clear that they have not found it yet. I just don't want them to lose to P/O contenders while at it. So I was happier with the OKC win than this Lakers blowout loss. You won't go many games without seeing Curry make a single 3 like he did yesterday and even if people keep talking about the bench they lost, all I keep remembering are the games last season where the same bench choked when they were needed- I mean in the P/Os.

Pop doesn't defecate Gold but He is a much better coach than Kerr would be in 2 lifetimes. If they had Kerr as coach, they'll be raining two times NBA Champions.

Nah No reason to change my opinions on the warriors. They'll still breeze through most games in the regular season even with me as Head coach. They simply got outplayed by a better coached team not necessarily a superior team.
Pop is a HOFer, we are not here to argue that. But Kerr didn't inherit champions and his traducers need to recognise that as well.

That aside, Pop lost from 3-2 against Heats team in 2013. It was his 2014 response to that same team that made the story all the more glorious. Let us see how Kerr responds.

Personally, I am not phased because all I care about is the ring at the end of the season. Lebron had his ass handed to him 3 times in the regular season to GSW and OKC suffered same too. The playoffs became a different kettle of fish. Blazers did same to GSW. 32 or 35 points loss- I forget the deficit. It is the response that matters.

You miss something. Warriors are thought better than the Spurs. I am a Spurs fan but I dinot expect the Spurs to win this morning and even if they did, maybe by 3 or 4 points but certainly not a blowout.

Judging by their lineups almost everyone expected Warriors to pull it off and playing at home was an added advantage.
No Warriors fan can deny this with a straight-face. I didn't expect them to lose, let alone by 29 points ahome. So in that I agree with you.

But there is a flip side to it and you'd do well to notice it as the season progresses. If the Warriors beat any team and even do 79-3 people would say it doesn't count until you win the Playoffs. If they win the playoffs people would say, everyone knew they would win it, the NBA is predictable. We don't want super teams and so on.

I thought neutrals and other fans alike should now be happy that this super-team is not as strong as people predicted and that maybe the season won't be as one-sided as many feared. Or are they celebrating the loss because they know there would be very few of them all season?

This same reactions online were prevalent all through last seasons regular season especially when Warriors lost 87-79 to Spurs to make it 1-1 during the season. Then when GSW made it 3-1 for the season, same people said Spurs don't care about the regular season and that they had GSW figured out just in time for the playoffs. Someone on this thread even said Pop was saving his tricks for the playoffs. We saw how that panned out.

So not yet Uhuru my people. Not yet.

There are only two Humans that will stop Golden State being crowned champions next year.

1)Lebron James
2) Spurs- To be Precise Pop.

If the warriors had Pop as their Head Coach, they'll walk the League
No they won't. They would lose to OKC 4-2 at the WCSFs. You see, Pop doesn't defecate Gold.

I wonder why people's metrics for judging the warriors changes at conveniences? If the Warriors had won that same game by the same margin, the same people will turn around and say it is just the regular season.

I am so glad league seasons are judged by the first game. If that were not the case the Cavs that won their first game last season would not have been champions....Oh wait!
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Eruditor: 12:38pm On Aug 20, 2016
There is a certain Je ne sais quoi that the best player in a generation would have. An "Umph" if you like it. It transcends winning rings or being the face of the league. It could be in his carriage, gait, disposition, aura, fear factor he controls, mentality, swagger- anything really. I still don't think Lebron has it (he is too insecure for it), but definitely the apparent lack of considerable and consistent opposition coupled with his stats belie my argument. So maybe he is for his generation. But indubitably, Kobe Bryant was the best in his generation.

First off, Tim is just too laid back for that role. He wouldn't even accept it if it was conferred on him. He was too simple, too tempered, too ordinary for how great he truly was. And Timmy didn't look like a fighter nor did he even control that fear factor. Sure, he had the mentality of a winner but examining Duncan critically would expose that layer that made him look like that straight-A student that went on to become the CEO of a big corporation, made a good living and just vamoosed afterwards. Manu Ginobili, who should somehow find his way into such conversations shares the same veneer of supernatural ordinariness that Timmy had.

Kobe is the major contrast. He was everywhere. He was that straight-A student that dated the prettiest girl in school, worked for that big corporation, started his own company or invested in some company that ended up making him a lot of money. He just refused to fade by never rejecting the limelight, wanting it. . . and being serendipitous. I mean the guy who looked fit 30 years after college even when everyone knew he ate junk and binge-drank everything he wasn't supposed to.

Protean with his life in and out of the court. Won titles, loved by some fans, loyal to his team, loathed by others. He epitomised the cliché "one whom everyone loved to hate". He polarised us enough to keep talking about him. He boasted, he fought and put his money where his mouth always seemed to be- above and beyond.

Most interesting of all is that unlike Tim, Kobe did the cheating. grin A real G cheats on his woman, no woman cheats on a real G, and no woman dares divorce one because she knows he owns the world including the very one she is living in. (JOKE OH!)

Perhaps part of why I seem to be inarticulate about why Kobe is the best of his generation is because I really do not know. But I am sure many others will pick him over Timmy and like me, not be able to explain why.
