Donlittle:I saw him bite hard on his Jersey as soon as the final buzzer went off. He was fighting the tears. That is a guy who knew he screwed up big time when his team needed him more. People would have forgiven him if he played like Green and Green played like him. I guess the pain can actually make him better. He has fought being overlooked all his career, this one will make him good for next year. Whether anyone wants to admit it, they were 3-1 up against the Cavs team and had 2 Oracle games to play out of 3. It is a miracle they couldn't win one. But credit to James and Kyrie who kept making tough shorts for the last 3 games especially Kyrie in the game 7. Kerr had his own share of the blame, and some other players that didn't just show up but it really doesn't matter. Legacies are not defined over one season. I.Thomas let his team down once against Celtics in 86, 87 and even 88 (against Lakers). But 89,90 they repeated as champs. SAS lost to Miami 2013 from 3-2 and came back the follow year beating them 4-1. |
Mizzzbeee:Bogut is not a franchise player. He is an absolute rim-protector but he plays too few minutes and he is injury prone. Jeez. Whiteside seems to have a higher ceiling. He will force attacks and can become a plan B or C for Warriors should the 3s not be falling. I admire him o. Big time. |
Mizzzbeee:Westbrook is more of the franchise player. He can win more games for you than Kyrie would but Kyrie is more clutch and personally, I like him better. But I guess more coaches will take Westbrook. He fills the stats better. |
A40:You dey vex o. You are not even taking any prisoners. ![]() |
Mizzzbeee:He probably sees potentials that we don't see. Barnes is 23 I think and he was a very good college player. I don't want to be too harsh on him, so let me see what GSW will do with him. I for one, have given up. |
A40:I still think their mentality was good. The only issue I had was that "over-self confidence" they showed after game 4. Even when they lost games 5 and 6, the general aura around the team was that they would still win somewhat. Kerr said his team doesn't handle prosperity well and he should take a bulk of the blame for that. At game 6 pre-match interview, Kerr kept letting the journalists bait him into discussing a game 7. I don't know if I was the only one that noticed it, but I was like "Have you already lost this game?" In my mind. I believe they will bounce back. Perhaps another 60+ win regular season and they would rest the key players games before the P/Os. I know nobody will care about MVP of the regular season again. For what it's worth, Houston Rockets were once called Choke City before 94-95 but they bounced back. Your Mavericks too choked against Shaq's Miami and were stellar in 2011. The Core of my team is still great barring injuries. I just need a better Centre and another SF. |
Mizzzbeee:Clippers and Blazers will huff and puff. The real dogs are obviously SAS and OKC but if we lead the regular season again, both teams will cancel themselves out and we would have to battle either one of them. Since it may be SAS this time around (Considering Pop is Pop), it won't be easy but we are good for another WCFs and maybe Finals. In the east, I don't see much changing to compete with Cavs so they would probably show up again, only challenge is, the hunger won't be as much as it was this time around, as they have already broken the jinx. It will be interesting. |
Mizzzbeee:Is Howard not better than Ezeli? They both suck at FTs, Ezeli passes better but Howard is a better scorer. Howard seems to be more healthy than Ezeli but Ezeli has better mentality. 2 sides of the same coin Ja re. I want WhiteSide or Anthony Davis.*edited* |
SmooshCHN:I kinda agree with you and A40. I think 303 pages is enough for a new thread but then again we don't get that much traffic until P/Os. |
Donlittle:I agreed that he choked but my point was that his choking was not as detrimental as the play of Festus (especially) and Barnes who were liabilities on both ends. He will bounce back. He played this post-season with niggling injuries after the game 1&4 against Houston. Kyrie is a great player, he actually kept his team in the game and save James' block on Iggy and just overall in the whole series, Kyrie was actually my game 7 MVP (since he played for the winning side, otherwise it was Green). |
A40:I couldn't agree more tbvh. I was just telling Donlittle he was being a tad too hard on Curry. Perhaps maybe the defeat was easier to accept because It was my team's best player that let us down. Kyrie out played him today in a strange way. Curry is guarding Kyrie and Kyrie has the confidence to still hit the jumper. The other wayround Curry has no confidence to hit shots he made for fun all season. He will learn from it. Bron Choked aged 26 and was good for it the following year. Klay, Curry and Green are still quite young. |
Donlittle:Can't be a fluke man they were up 3-1 with 2 games ahome. They choked. Simple. |
SmooshCHN:You see. Didn't even know the surgery was already scheduled but I noticed it especially during the OKC and CAVS series. |
kamel4real2015:The NBA wanted a game 7 so that game 6 was questionable but the refereeing today was above average if not good. |
Manutd19:Curry needs surgery on his knee. He wasn't dribbling towards his left if you noticed. That left knee is a problem. They just coded it all P/Os |
Mizzzbeee:Warriors can come again but they need a good Centre to debut for Bogut while Ezeli can bounce or become number 3 if Varejao leaves. Barnes can be going. OKC can be a problem again next year and even though I am sure CAVS can come out of the east, Bron isn't getting younger. |
Mizzzbeee:She is no different from any female journalist. People are making it more than what it is. |
A40:Time heals all. It was easier for GSW to bounce back from the loss than CAVS. They need to be credited. They beat GSW twice ahome to win this. Kerr made the mistake of trusting Ezeli but all the pundits felt Ezeli should have started this game. He missed those early easy shots and that easy lay up when Love was guarding him. To me his defending was also slack. Curry needed another 3 in that 4th Quarter but it didn't drop. There was doubt in his eyes. He hesitated too much to knock his threes. At 89 a piece if Iggy had knocked that layup or dunk, even if Kyrie knocked that 3 it would have been a 1pt game. |
Donlittle:He choked but you are being unfair. Ezeli was a problem today. He let his team down. Barnes was questionable too. Lebron's block on Iggy was the difference. |
Congrats Cleveland. Deserved. Sorry GSW. Next year maybe. |
SmooshCHN:Like I couldn't believe GSW will start a game of such magnitude and be trailing by 20 in the first quarter. Well, all they need is to start well. I have no doubt they can see this off. |
SIRcumalot:Cavs have momentum not just luck. I am not as confident as I was even after game 3 loss but that's because of the game 5 loss and nothing else. The thing is, after the first 2 games in which Cavs lost by a cumulative 48, they still picked up and won game 3 by 30. GSW can very well do that as well. Also with 3 games a piece, the points difference of both teams is 59pts for GSW and 59pts for Cavs. It is evenly poised at the moment that's the point. But I won't be so quick to dismiss the home side. That's all I would say for now. |
SIRcumalot:Yea, because OKC are playing Cavs in the finals or because Cavs have won the ring? The issue with false trolling is when it shows up a tad too soon. Since you have no dog in this fight there's no need for me to recount your many worthy predictions. Game 7 will bring a sum total of yours. Let's see how it turns out. |
lolawilliams:Very substantial. ![]() |
lolawilliams:He has dropped 19 in game 2 and 25 (after racking up points in garbage time) in game 4. Not one individual can successfully guard Lebron but the team's structured and systematic way of forcing him to make tougher shots (which he has made in the past 2 games) but may not be able to continue to. GSW have been in this type of pressure in the past 2 seasons. They were down 2-1 to Cavs and had to claw back to win 4-2. Their 73-win season looked shaky when they needed to beat SAS twice in the last 4 games and they were down 3-1 to OKC and needed to steal an away game in the final 3 games. I have no doubt that Cavs can pull an upset in game 7 but I will more so easily rely on some facts that work against them. 1. The open man in the last 2 games for GSW has been Barnes and he shot 2-22 in the last 2 games. That will change. He is not Shaq. He will not shoot that badly for 3 games. 1b. If Barnes knocks his shots, Cavs have to adjust, freeing up MVP Curry. 2. MVP Curry will be playing with a chip on his shoulder, angry from game 6, charged in front of his home fans with a win away from back to back titles. Stop underestimating a good team especially when a closer is going to be played on home front. 3. Curry will get more of his foul calls in game 7. You can rest, assured of that. 4. For all Lebron's greatness, it is too much to ask for 3 heavy scoring games especially away from Ohio where Cavs have been atrocious. And albeit Kyrie has held his own and helped his team, Bron is the pillar that holds the Cavs. 5. I expect the game to be close from the outset, but I think the team that will win this one is the team that will have a better 4th Quarter. It is so hard to look beyond the home team in such instances. |
lolawilliams:But Lebron and Kyrie didn't score 82 points again, so doesn't that count for Green's presence? Cavs played good ball and led by 20 after 1 quarter so they deserve to win. Lue also said Lebum doesn't get enough foul calls after game 4, and by game 5, the NBA had answered the clarion call. |
Bobbieydeey:LOL. Lebron charges and scores. They give him an extra free throw and give a blocking foul to the opposing player. Curry is hassled and tossed during screens or in transition. Ref turns Ray Charles to it. It is easy to upset any teams momentum. Ask Sacramento Kings of 2002 when Kobe got 27 free throws in one quarter or so. Lol |
lolawilliams:Calm down --> signifies it was a light-hearted remark. Obviously, I am pained my team lost so I am looking for positives and if a player that dropped 41 a game before, drops 23 in another, I will latch unto it.I can tell you free of charge that if Lebron drops 23 in game 7 that will be a loss for the Cavs and obviously if Cavs win game 7 he will be the finals MVP. In the same breath, if Curry drops 40 in game 7 and GSW wins, he too will be the finals MVP. We will see how it plays out in game 7. My money is on GSW and by God's grace, I should watch the game in real time. |
Didn't see the game again because for some reason I can't stay awake to watch consistently. I understand only James had 41 and Kyrie's number reduced to 23? That's progression ![]() If after the first quarter, the scoreline was reading 31-11, then boy am I glad I didn't spend time watching the game (infact when you start that badly you deserve to lose). At the end of the day, it was a harder pill to swallow the game 5 loss than this one seeing that Cleveland were going back to Ohio with the momentum. It will not be misplaced to call the refs out on some of the fouls they call on Curry in contrast with the ones people infringe on him. The NBA must make $20k per seats for game 7 and now they will achieve it. The consensus online seems to echo these sentiments even though one can argue they are more from the supporters of GSW. Well, now that Game 7 is billed for 1AM 21st naija time, I must find a way to watch it without neglecting Monday duties. I almost feel my team has flailed because I haven't been able to channel some chakra their way. Harrison Barnes for all the money he wants has been atrocious the last 2 games but there is something (as little as it is) that will work in his favor. It is called the LAW OF AVERAGES. That same law will work against Lebron and I kid you not. So here is how game 7 will pan out. The refs will begin to give Curry all his fouls because the story suits GSW winning the ring. As long as Curry is getting his foul calls some people on Cavs roster will be racking up personal fouls. Home crowd will buoy the team in a way that will spur them to reignite the spark they usually show when their backs are against the wall. But the 2 key issues will be 1. Lebron will certainly not drop another 41 points. (Lola can feel free to mention me here if he does) and 2. Harrison Barnes won't shoot as badly as he has done in the last 2 games. The law of average, will guarantee that. Having said that, it is no longer impossible for the GSW not to lose game 7 as it would have been had they not lost game 5, but I think after hitting a few bumps with my last predictions, I am probably calling this one right. So here goes: GSW will win game 7 in front of their home fans. It will be in a fashion similar to SAS vs Pistons game 7 of 2005. In other words, home team wins but the game itself will not be a high-scoring one. I'd be back to gloat when it happens. Till then Cavs supporters have the floor. They have earned it. |
lolawilliams:I watched the tape so many times. He didn't hit him. He made an attempt. If you think Lebron hasn't been called more than a b-word since even this 2016 P/Os began then you probably just started watching basketball. Why he chose to respond to that question is snitching FYI. There is really no need for the front and backs. Game 6 is around the corner. Let us see how quickly Karma responds. |
lolawilliams:This post typifies being a fan of the stats and not what you can actually see. I guess this is why it seems you are always being hounded. First off, what Green did is deplorable. But considering the situation, anyone would have reacted the same way. Someone pushes you to the floor, then he attempts to walk over you and in the act his gonads lay just above your head. Green wasn't trying to go for the gonads. He went for the part of Lebron that was just in his view. I don't understand why people don't see that behind a man's back you can't refer to it as the groin. I heard even seasoned journalists use that word and I cringed. So let's save it. Green didn't hit Lebron there. If he made an attempt then the NBA should tell us when they started punishing players for making attempts. On the other hand, Lebron walked away after the incident without noticing he was hit. He needed to re-watch the tapes to know what Green did, which means either Lebron has no balls or that Green didn't touch him. I would let you decide which is which. As for Lebron reacting to being called a B-word or whatever. I don't even see how he can claim it riled him up or whatever. A gentleman who takes a high road should have told the Journalist that whatever was said by Green is no longer important now and he has moved on. Why did he start telling us about his family and being a grown man? That's actually snitching. So you should really stop coloring Lebron spectacular. As for the NBA, they made a total mess of things and this will keep feeding the conspiracy theories that say they wanted more games in the final than just 5. Whether I buy into it or not is immaterial now as the deed has been done. What is left to be decided is how often the NBA will go back to review decisions in retrospect to influence important games? Like Waiters elbowing Manu during the OKC vs SAS series. As for the flagrant Green has received, please people need to rewatch his clash with Beasly of The Rockets to decide if that qualifies for that. I could have been singing a different tune if he was suspended following the Steven Adams kick, but please, if you make an attempt to hit a player, the NBA will give you a flagrant for it? LOL |
In summary, gutted by the loss as I didn't see it coming at all. I know alot of people would give Kyrie and James obeisance (and duly so) for their numbers, but I don't think having good numbers was going to be a determinant seeing that they put big numbers in game 4 and still lost. Whether GSW want to admit it or not, losing Green is not as much a factor as they may want to make it seem especially when MVP Curry underwhelms again. There are 2 positives to be drawn from this, he tends to bounce back after bad performances and they have Green back in game 6. On the other hand, Cavs have momentum going into game 6 trying to dish it out again in front of their home fans and If they start well, it might break GSWs confidence. Also, Bogut is most likely out and with his replacements not coming to the party, rebounding and protecting the rim may be an issue for GSW. I won't make bold predictions again seeing as I am eating humble pie now, but I still don't see a game 7 in this and I still feel GSW got this 2nd ring. Ofcourse, it could be another moment of the heart replacing the head, but the heart has earned that right, seeing that it has been right for most of the season. So indulge me this one last time, I am calling an 8pt win by GSW in game 6 similar to what Transpired when they beat Spurs in Texas enroute to winning 73 games. |
