Well, I thank him for remaining nonpartisan in the elections, this saved Nigeria from the jaws of the looters He was very partisan. Especially in the SE and SS states. GEJ is trying to save face by doing a few good things before leaving like vetoing the constitution amendment thingy. As per Mbu, he will be drafted to Sambisa by GMB come May 29th. |

anyaekekehinde: In an attempt to defend ameachi...you are loosing touch with reality..let me judge by this figures you put according to you, originally he receives 20B from fg monthly and generates 8B monthly, sum; 20 + 8 = 28B Again according to you he had a wage bill of 8B Now according to you also, he employs 13k teachers( a figure which is over bloated, because i served in Rivers in 2012, and i know much about the recruitment, infact i was even picked in the recruitment but turned it down)
assuming the 13k is true, now let me fix a salary for the 13k staffs, let me over bloat thier salary, assuming each receives 150k (which is not true cos i got the offer) now 13k X 150k = 1.9Bapprox add 1.9B to the original wage bill you quoted 8B + 1.9B = 9.9B
Now all of a sudden, you said he started receiving 12B now sum of new income; 12B + 8B = 20B ( or did the IGR also drop as the federal allocation dropped) according to you, he gives local government chairmen 2B (mind you, you didn't say 2B for each lg chairman)
now add 9.9B + 2B = 11.2B guy, this is not rocket science, why cant a monthly income of 20B cope with expenses of 11.2B
you went further to buttress your very weak point by saying, why didn't the aggrieved pensioners complain before now.. let me ask you, is it you that will determine the time when they should complain for them? or there is a particular period of time when they have the right to complain.. or whats your point?
I served in Rivers state and i was paid but i know corper's after my set that haven't been paid and they have been complaining to him, but he repeatedly ignore their plea. emotions cloud your sense of reasoning, what you don't know is either ABC or BDB, ALL this guys are selfish, its when there is much on their hands and their is no competing selfish interest that they have time for the masses. FYI, I don't bandy words with quasi-scholars so you may need to up your game a little if you want to get my attention. 1. You don't need to drop the verecundiam that you served in Rivers state. What if I told you I lived in the govt house? Are we trading status or hard facts? 2. Amaechi employed 13, 200 teachers. He even said they still have a deficit of about 6000 more teachers that Rivers state requires. He used a stadium that was packed out to issue them their appointment letters amd the stadium was packed out. If you say you where in PHV in 2012, you should have known this. 3. Why make an assumption of their emoluments since you claim you got the offer? Why not use the real figure to make your analysis and prove to the world that you are an economics hack. 4. Let us work with your 11.9B figure (and not 11.2B you incorrigible dolt!) Per month, that he is faced to deal with and pretend he doesn't service already situated infrastructures or service heavy loans which at some point was to the tune of 10B a month? Or didn't you see me write that he had loans to pay off and savings to make? 5. So how does a state have a burden 21.9B a month yet the governor receives 20B and for atleast 2 years nobody complained about being owed? 6. Let me even lecture you on how IGR became 8B from the 2B that it was before Amaechi became the governor. He simply prevented the same thieves that want to govern the state now from looting 6B per month from the state and leaving only 2B, by using fiat as the governor in charge. That is when he began making enemies. 7. And that humdrum about NYSC remunerations needs to be put to bed. The school you taught in paid you 10k per month (from the state), the FG paid you 19,800 per month. . .and then the governor of Rivers (of his own volition) decided to be giving the corpers an extra 10k for the whole year making it 110-120k at the end of the service year. It is not your right or entitlement and when he is faced with constrained funds from a senile central government ofcourse he would have to do a scale of preference- which he did. So please tell us again when he stopped paying the 120k at the end of the year, was it not after 2013, when his FA was reduced by 8B? |
Politics › Re: Starving Rivers Pensioners Cry Out To Amaechi To Pay Their 3 Month Arrears by Eruditor: 8:44pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
A man used to receive 20B from the FG and 8B from IGR per month. He had a wage bill of 8B until he decided to employ 13K more teachers which shot the wage bill higher. He also had 2B monthly to give to his LGA chairmen, bank loans to service and monies to be dedicated to situating infrastructures. Then he had to still make savings.
Then all of a sudden he starts receiving 12B instead of the 20B (since 2013), yet not one so-called pensioner complained that they were owed till date. They didn't even complain during the gubernatorial elections. When that would have been the best time to force him to pay up since he needed his party to win. But when he starts making plans to go to the election tribunal, all of a sudden, "Corpers" and retired "pensioners" begin to complain that they are owed. Very funny stuff I tell you. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Social Program PART II: Feasible or Laughable? by Eruditor: 4:50pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
barcanista: PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ
This thread is in response to the Thread by Obiagelli's https://www.nairaland.com/2265908/buharis-social-program-very-possible. In her bid to defend the Social policy of Mr Buhari, Obiagelli insulted the intelligence of Nigerians with respect to what is accrued to the Federal Government in revenue per fiscal year. Let us start by putting things in order...
Nigeria's Revenue: Nigeria's revenue is accrued through oil export, non oil export, oil tax and non oil tax. The Federal Inland Revenue Service is statutory responsible for the collection of both oil profit tax and non oil tax. The money for oil export goes directly to the Federation Account via the NNPC. The money generated via non oil export goes directly to the federation account through relevant Agencies.
Oil Revenue: The total sum realised through Oil export(after operational cost) and oil profit tax is known as "Oil Revenue"
Non Oil Revenue While the sum realised through export of other commodities(after operational cost) and the money realised from non oil profit tax is called "Non Oil Revenue".
What Did Nigeria Earn Between January 2014 and January 2015? Nigeria Total Earning: Jan 2014 - June 2014 = N5.109trn
June 2014 - Jan 2015= N3.676trn
Total: N8.785trn
Total Oil Revenue (Oil Export Earning + Oil taxes) = 70% of Total Revenue ie N6.15trn
*Total Non Oil Revenue (Non Oil Export + Non oil taxes) = 30% of N8.785trn ie N2.635 trn
Jan 2014- June 2014 = N1.08trn* July 2014 - Jan 2015= N1.556trn [N2.635trn]
Understanding FIRS 2014 Report: FIRS announced that the sum of N4.69trn was generated in 2014. The report indicated that N2.45 trillion, representing 52.96 per cent, was collected from petroleum profit tax while N2.24 trillion, representing 47.04 per cent, was collected from non-oil taxes during the period. Analysis This sum(N4.69trn) is not independent of the published N8.785trn that Nigeria was said to earn between Jan 2014 and January 2014. It is a part and parcel of the total revenue.
How Much Did FG Get In 2014? There is a consolidated Sharing formula between FG, States, LGs and Oil Producin States(13%) after operational and other associated cost has been deducted. FG Earnings In 2014 1st Qtr: N912 billion 2nd Qtr: N864.2 billion 3rd Qtr: N924.68 billon 4th Qtr: N617.186 billion Total 2014= N3.318trn
2014 Budget: N4.6trn FG Projected Earning for 2014= N3.73tr Real Earning = N3.318trn Deficit in 2014 Fiscal Year: N1.282trn
What this means is that the money accrued to the FG was not even enough to fund 2014 budget. We had a deficit of N1.282trn. Also note that the fall in oil price affected our earning.
Looking At 2015 Budget: The 2015 budget(as adjusted) stand at N4.3trn. Projected Revenue For 2015= N3.603trn Deficit: N1.297trn (N4.3trn - N3.603trn)
This means the 2015 budget will be run on deficit of N1.297trn (as confirmed by the Senate).
Looking At Buhari's Proposal With Buhari's proposed N1.89tr Social program, it invariably means an additional N1.89trn will be added to the projected deficit of N1.29 trn ie N3.187trn if he is to go ahead with paying of N5000 to 25 million unemployed annually, from where will he be able to make up the HUGE deficit?.
Analysing The Argument of The Pro-Buharis Some Pro-Buharis claim that the project will be done in phase of 5m people per year. However, the problem of "How to identify these 5m beneficiaries" and what will be the for selection? Anyway, that is for another day. Let's go by their argument... Unemployment benefit: 5m * N5000 = N300 billion.
*The N300b is for the payment benefit alone*. Add that to logistics, overhead and operational cost that the program will incur (approx 50% ie N150billion) annually.
Total: N300b + N150b = N450b
Feeding for 40m Public School Children = N373 billion.
Subtotal: N823 billion.
Where Will Buhari Source For the estimated N823 billion?
- Remove Subsidy? Total package for petrol and kerosene subsidies plus SURE-P fund = N166.5b. That is clearly not up to 30%.
- Invest All Capital Expenditure + Subsidy? This will be a very silly move though. But adding Capital Expenditure and Subsidy will total N866.9 billion. Just a little above the projected N823billion. Going this route means there will be no project for road, no infrastructure and other capital projects. In fact, it is synonymous to eating the present away.
- Will He Borrow? Borrowing to fund Social Welfare program is synonymous to eating away the future. That means indebting our future and a panacea to economic collapse likened to what happened to Greece if not worse. It also means increasing our already projected deficit of N1.29 trillion
What is the fate of this Social program? Feasible, Laudable or Laughable? The greatest travesty metted out to a people is for quacks to walk around as the real deal. 1. There are 40M Public school children? 2. FG never recovered more than 4.7 trillion in 2014 even after DPR remitted 1.3 trillion into the federal coffers? 3. NNPC pays money directly to FG account before or after removing their own running cost? 4. NLNG paid taxes of close to $1B to the FG last year. Does that also factor into what FIRS collected? Maybe DPR should explain to you the issues they have been experiencing with FIRS. 5. The 400k barrels of crude lost per day factors into what JV agreements? Do you think the IOCs believe they lose anything to illegal oil bunkering? Does the oil belong to the IOCs? 6. Where are ghost workers in your analysis? Monies cannot be retrieved from thence? 7. What about the $ 300M Tompolo got? Asari's $11M per month nko? Ateke's 9M per month as well? 8. Rebates from Subsidy removal is put at 165B naira? Did David Copperfield come with that number? The same subsidy that gulped 2.7 trillion in 2011? The same one that gulped 1.7 trillion in 2012? The same one that cost FG 320B just in December of 2014? 9. 250M USD largess to Nollywood? 500M USD gun contract to Arthur Eze? AMCON's father Christmas bailouts? Unnecessary splurge on Jets, 7B to Pastors and priests? Missing 10B USD NNPC money? You want to act like you do not know what goes on in your country? You want people to take you seriously? |

IbokUtoroh: bobo ur illustration was making sense till when i reach d part 'nIGERIA LOSES 400K barrels of oil a day', pls lemme educate u on this issue. nigeria dont lose such quantity as being peddle by the media, what happens is once there is pipeline vandalisation, the company operating such lines shut its valves n thereby causn seizure of crude to the other end. during that time interval the receiving end loses products and also time due to unavailabiity of poducts. in summary the distributing end wont lose any products only that its lines n pipes hv been damage which will need repairs but products distribution has been put on hold cos every pumps hv been lock. u dont lose what u dont pump. the only commodity lost here is TIME, TIME AND TIME. Or put it dis way u r supplyng water from ur haus to anoda haus thro hose n along the line the hose got bursted by a passing vehicle, will u allow d water to keep wasting while trying to fix the hose? considering the fact that u r constantly monitoring ur hose n there is someone at the main supply handling the tap? dont act as if u never went to school, its only a fool that will neglect safety measures while working in an oil rig. if an only they employ FOOLS! Absolute rubbish. The roughly 2M barrels of crude per day that Nigeria produces is what DPR colluding with NNPC came out to tell Nigerians- not what actually is. The reason for this is that they cannot properly monitor the actual production figures due to cronyism, being understaffed and underequipped and lastly because of government bureaucracies. Ask anyone you know that works offshore or on a rig. Many days at a stretch, barges from politicians and friends of the president come to platforms and bunker crude. The Asaris and Tompolos too do same. This is even beyond vandalising pipelines. Also you have IOCs like AGIP that have mastered the art of producing false production figures so that they can shortchange FG in the so-called 60-40% sharing formula they still have for most of their JVs. So if AGIP produces 300K bbl/d, they will report that they produced 250K bbl/d in their production manual and the DPR staff that should have raised an alarm will either be gagged with a mouth-watering bribe or his superior would have been and he too will in turn force him to acquiesce in their demands and agree with the false report. |

The OP is an intellectual Fugazi. 1. This is Prof. Osibanjo's position http://www.channelstv.com/2015/03/26/osinbajo-clears-air-on-n5000-stipend-to-25-million-poor-people/2. Olisa Agbakoba in 2011 (Town Hall meeting on Subsidy removal) said Nigeria should be making 7 trillion Naira a year from the Maritime industry by just making the companies that ply their trade in that sector to follow the rules and regulations there in. 3. DPR alone remitted 1.3 trillion Naira into federal coffers. Considering how lackadaisical DPR have been over the years, we can rest assured that number should have been at least 5 times higher if run under a serious and well-meaning Govt, such as GMB's. It even sounds more interesting when we consider that FG makes their budgets SOLELY on the proceeds from crude oil sale. Think about the sort of corruption that has been going unattended to for close to 16 years. 4. What about ghost workers? 400K barrels of illegally bunkered crude per day? Zero inventory for sale of condensates? 900B Naira budget for the Military that could not tackle BH in just 14 of the 774 LGs? If all these holes and more (too numerous to mention) are plugged, there is no telling how much Nigeria will truly have at her disposal. Afterall, how was OBJ able to save 62B dollars in the FR when he sold crude at less than 60$ and battled Militancy (which affected crude production) while at it? SaTANoids like the OP should go and hang themselves with the chord of bitterness that is currently at their disposal. I don't want to hear that Faux-intellectualism or pseudo-analysis took the glory. |

Now they have a new puppet, navigated by the old puppet. You guys will say just about anything to console yourselves. GEJ didn't call anyone's bluff for Pete's sake. The USA were producing more of their shale oil so it only made sense that they cutback on their import of crude oil from other nations of which Nigeria was their major importer. Nigeria didn't have any fracas with them. GEJ still made sure the Chevrons and Exxons got all they required from madam minister. Their only grouse was the impunity with which they had to make bribes to get things done. ExxonMobil needs to do M.E.R testing and they will need to bribe all and sundry. GeJ close relationship with China and steady progress was a thorn in US side. His promise to force foreign oil companies to partner with 9ja corporations was a threat to those companies underhanded drilling techniques and unreported amounts being extracted. Nigerians should get ready for a new form of colonization under US power it is never pretty when they set sights on a developing nation. World Bank is already predicting food shortage.
Like Buhari already said Nigerians have to suffer for 5 years your change is here. 1. The elections were US manipulated? Hahaha. Obama and Joe Biden stole ballot boxes or created result sheets? 2. GEJs close relationship with who? Is there any chinese company benefiting from Nigeria more than ExxonMobil, Chevron, Halliburton etc ? 3. What promise to what foreign national company to partner with who? They were already partnering with Nigerian companies before GEJ. What GEJ made them do was sign flimsy contracts with his cronies to dole out money to them that was unmerited. 4. The IOCs that tried to cheat Nigeria were mostly his friends. Companies like AGIP that kept flouting DPR regulations but were still getting backed by madam minister and GEJ. SAIPEM and co (subsidiaries of AGIP) asked their workers to vote GEJ because largess was sure to flow their way. CNOOC a Chinese company lost a bid to ExxonMobil in which the latter pledged only 600M USD for the bloc while CNOOC pledged 1.5B USD. You can deceive all the people some of the time. You can also deceive some of the people all the time. But you cannot deceive all the people, all the time. So save your feeble propaganda for 2019. Hopeless prevaricators. |

discusant: Opposition accountants must have done that accounting that Diezani spent 2.6 trillion Naira.
The same manner that Sanusi did his accounting that 50billion, later, 40billion, later 20 billion was missing, and went to the market place to announce.
Which CB governor of any country would go to a market place to make such announcements without first exhausting police or other investigations? Such announcement was capable of wrecking the economy of the most economically strong country.
Fact is that Sanusi who had since 2011 campaigned against Jonathan wanted to wreck Nigeria's economy, to have excuse for his Fulani winning the next election. What opposition accountants are you baffling about? I am giving you figures that NOI didn't refute. And Sanusi's accounting was not wrong. NOI herself claimed it was 10B dollars at some point but Sanusi was adamant it was 20B. Concerning the 49B figure, the NNPC and finance minster systematically tried to refund 29B and when SLS saw it, he didn't complain because all he wanted was the money to be in the federal coffers. That is why he still insisted that 20B was missing and it WAS. As for your 2011 prevarications about SLS I am happy to know you are a fictitious writer. SLS campaigned vigorously for GEJ in 2011 when the latter pushed for an outright removal of the subsidy. In 2013, when GEJ could not pay ASUU, it was the State governors via NGF and the CBN governor that helped pacify the lecturers. So was SLS also working against the president then? I dare PwC to publish the complete report on the missing money and let us see if SLS was not right. Shameless GEJ illegally sacks the CBN governor and leaves Deziani as the Petroleum Minister because she colluded with him to bilk Nigerians. |

Please explain to me how a man had all these challenges yet no teacher or worker or Civil servant in Rivers state complained about salaries? JustCalMeDBoss: First and formost GEJ neva meddle in the oil wells whala ameachi was referring to federal govt and Gej let the apporiate authorities handled the matter. But still you fail to get my point even if Gej openly took the wells from rivers and the rivers ppl still felt that ameachi joining APC is a far greater sin than him fighting for wells then its their choice and they have every right to do so. Apart from the Oil wells, GEJ promised to build roads for Kalabari people. Amaechi offered to do it with state funds so that GEJ will refund the state the money, but GEJ refused and yet he still didn't build any roads. When he was challenged, he claimed it was because he was unhappy with Amaechi. Fine. Akwa-ibom and Cross-Rivers, Anambra and Enugu, Abia and Enugu have governors that are GEJs friends and loyalists. Why didn't he erect any federal structure or roads there? Again Amaechi complained that Rivers was being shortchanged to the tune of N 8B. As against 20.25B that they should have been receiving monthly GEJ gave them 12B. Amaechi had to use IGR from the state to offset the wage bills he had to ensure that no civil servant was owed any salaries. Amaechi helped sort out the ASUU strike (by his position as NGF president) when Wike and GEJ did absolutely nothing. In spite of all these the PDP suspended him and then he took his goodwill and went to APC. And now you have the right to call him a traitor. May God not punish you for this travesty. |

drealme: Dakuku should go and rest, d election was free and fair. APC members r crying because they were not given the opportunity to rig. They came with a Ghana must go bag filled with thumb printed ballot paper but was denied access You will soon choke on your lies. APC kept complaining about the absence of result sheets in different polling units even before the elections began. |

Mhudi: A party with massive followers and supporters in regions and zones with the highest number of eligible voters, a party that won more than 60 and 214 out of 109 and 360 seats in the senate and house representative, a party that won all the gubernatorial elections in the south west and swept the entire north, including Benue and Plateau that was never expected even by the APC, a party that dismantled and wrestled power from PDP for the first time since 1999 in Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Benue, Plateau, Kebbi, Bauchi, Niger. With all these records breaking and success by APC, you still expect Jonathan would have won if he was not rig out?
Jonathan only lost because he performed woefully in the south west and north central which he was hoping to win. Nigeria has 6 geographical zones with the north west alone twice in population and eligible voters than the south south and south east combined. The president couldn't have won the election even with 100% votes from the south south and south east. Kano state has more than 4 million PVC collections. I was expecting up to 3 million votes for Buhari and was disappointed when only about 50% turned up for the election and voted 1.9 million for Buhari and 215 thousand for Jonathan. Like! |

Dakuku is right. Amaechi had already warned about 2 weeks to the elections that President Jonathan and his wife were going to use Ateke Tom, the Army and Police against APC adherents during the elections. His only miscalculation was that he thought Jega would be bold enough to cancel the elections outrightly. The good thing is that APC won the central government and as such PDP won't have control of the judiciary or the military during the re-done elections (because the fiasco of an electoral process will be annulled).
Let me see how the liars on this thread that claimed they voted for Wike or how popular they think he is will find their cacophonous voices. |

Ekaka1: I am not a PDP member but Your masters are bigger Thieves my friend. Wait until the roll call begins with Jagaban, Atiku, Obasanjo. Amaechi etc...even your "saintly" Buhari is not so clean after all. If you run with dogs you definitely will have fleas...80% of APC have fleas either by nature or by past association with PDP....yeah so keep deluding yourself! Go and sit down somewhere my friend. The money GEJ released for subsidy in 2011 alone was 2.6 trillion Naira. Tell me how much Jagaban is worth, let me tell you how much Bode George's worth is. Yet one of them used his resources to better the lives of Nigerians (especially Lagosians), while the other is planning to go on exile some where else where he would be paying Taxes to another government. |

Obanikoro the olodo. The Gubernatorial election was between 2 parties as most of the other 14 parties stepped down. This caused the the number of voters between the 2 parties involved to increase. Even at that the total number of cast votes was 1.53M. In the presidential elections, about 14 parties participated in Lagos, so even if APC and PDP together had only 1.4M votes, the total number of cast votes (including the rejected ones) was about 1.84M. Which shows a deficit of over 300k votes.
Now please compare that to Rivers state that had 16 reported cases of violence and 19 casualties (in both Guber and Presidential elections) in which the PUs looked like grave yards. Yet they produced 1.6M votes in the Presidential and 1.28M in the gubernatorial elections. When you consider the fact that Lagos far outnumbers Rivers in terms of population, one can only cry in laughter. |

kosovo: You talking like a kid.. Even on a very free and fairest situation. It's still going to be PDP getting over 50% votes.
You are ungrateful to think GMB will influence the judiciary to get Rivers. This is what GEJ never did. He never interfered with the judiciary..
Any attempt by GMB and his rat-tag to sabotage the judiciary would be met with resistance! You are the kid in this discourse. Now run along so that adults can discuss intelligently. |

Bloggz74: I thought America will ask why underaged voters where allowed in the north.
I thought America will ask why there was no void vote out of 1.9m from Kano.
I thought they will ask why Boko haram ravaged states collected more PVC than the peaceful states in Nigeria.
The fact is obvious.
#LeaveUsAlone! Who did the underage voters vote for? Why did the PDP agents sign the result sheets? There were more than 100k voided votes in Kano and the 2.1M people that voted only represented less than 50% of the numbers that collected PVCs. Please compare that to Rivers and Akwa-ibom where 70% of the people who collected PVCs voted (an implausibility). The likes of Borno, Adamawa and Gombe didn't have as many voters as Rivers and Akwa-ibom even though there was wide spread violence and box snatching in the latter 2 states. Yet you want to delude yourself that ojoro cancel ojoro. What an oaf! |

GenBuhari: But any underage voter in North would have voted for the party that controls INEC.
Is it not INEC that registered the underage voters?
Which party controls INEC, is it APC or PDP?
Which party needs to rig in the North is it APC or PDP? Help me ask them. |

FreeGlobe: Well, nothing can match the rigging that produced Ambode as Lagos governor and Buhari as president but the US already commended jega Where GEJ and Jimi Agbaje could garner up to 600K votes each? Someone better hand you your anti-hallucinative pills. |
