Belvinho:I past through this site today. Guess what? The entrance into the construction site is through the finished Bus terminal. A question for You, sir. Why would a private construction have it's entrance be through a Government owned facility? I see we enjoy government deceiving us. Apparently, someone powerful is building a private investment on a Government own property with the connivance of someone in government. Well, until the adjoining private "Mall" is completed - which is strategically located by the terminal for a good reason - it is safe to conclude that the Ikeja Bus Terminal is uncompleted. |

Autojosh, since they refused to bring this to front page, I decided to help out. No need to thank me. ![]() See How Ambode Made Primero The Sole BRT Operator In Lagos 17 March 2008 marked the beginning of a revolution in the mass transit sector in Lagos state. That was the date that the first phase of the Lagos BRT was launched. The introduction of the Lagos BRT significantly ushered the state away from the unenviable example of a classic urban disorder. The BRT is a mass transit system that employs dedicated lanes, enabling buses to avoid traffic – and by extension, ensure shorter duration of journeys. In its first year, the Lagos BRT transported an average of 200,000 passengers per day. In 2012, it carried 51 million passengers, averaging around 140,000 a day. This arrangement was very lucrative for the operator. However, in no time, the operator became overwhelmed by the patronage. In 2012, the Lagos State Bus Asset Management Limited (LAGBUS), the company in charge of managing and operating the BRT service, began giving out franchises to private investors. Soon, 10 companies were licensed to acquire BRT buses and integrate them in the Lagos BRT scheme. Note that LAGBUS is a management collaboration of the Lagos state government/LAMATA with the Lagos state NURTW. As of 2016, the number of BRT franchisees had increased to about 37. In 2016, the Ambode-led government of Lagos state abruptly banned the operation of the LAGBUS-supervised buses including those under its franchise scheme. The reason giving for the ban was constant breaches of the franchise agreement the operator signed in 2007. Over 36 BRT franchisees, together with the original NURTW-owned BRT buses were affected. The ban prevented them from plying the very lucrative BRT corridors to load or drop passengers. They could only use the road like other private vehicles. On November 7, 2016, the sudden banned sparked off a protest by the franchisees. The ground for their protest was that they still had a running contract with LAGBUS – and by extension the Lagos state government/LAMATA. Then curiously, a certain private company – Primero Transport Services Limited – became the sole BRT bus operator. https://i68.tinypic.com/w7fxuu.jpg Indeed, and just like the exclusivity accorded to companies like Visionscape and Alpha-Beta Consulting – buses owned by Primero Transport Services Limited were accorded the exclusive rights to operate on the BRT corridors in Lagos state. Even more curious was that the details of the contract Primero Transport Services Limited signed with LAMATA remains shrouded in secrecy. For instance, was there a terminal date for the contract? What happens when the company fails in its responsibility of fulfilling its obligations to the public? On May 16, 2016, the Lagos State Government donated 50 brand new high-capacity Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles to Primero Transport Services Limited. The reason given for the donation was to mitigate effects of new pump price of petrol on its residents. Why should a state government donate buses to a private profit-making company? Was the Lagos state government’s largess to Primero part of the mysterious contract they signed? https://i64.tinypic.com/2je1zcm.jpg Primero Transport Services Limited was established in 2014. Its BRT bus service was launched on 12 November 2015 by His Excellency Mr. Akinwumi ‘Dapo Ambode. The company commenced its BRT operation with 434 Youtong high capacity buses. It currently operates the BRT buses service on the Ikorodu to CMS corridor. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Primero Transport Services Limited is Mr Fola Tinubu. https://autojosh.com/see-how-primero-became-the-sole-brt-operator-in-lagos/ |
BabaRamota1980:True. But the FG gives both private and government institutions licenses to operate on that waters. That is why the LASG have their ferries and jetties. The state government should build more jetties and introduce more ferries. But of course, developing that mode of transport will deprive them and their cronies in the NURTW from making billions of naira that they are used to. |
baddosky1:Funny. I'm sure by the time he completes the Lagos Metroline, you will still repeat this statement, and then call the project mediocre, and then go further to say that he should be commissioning space shuttles. |
python2gbera:No offense intended sir, but what you just exhibited is clearly a slave's mentality. |
It looks like it was sandfilled. |
ChiefAzubuike:At N18, 000 per month? Haba. |
BabaRamota1980:Biased? When it doesn't suit your narrative then it is biase, right? BabaRamota1980:Almost 60% of what Autojosh writes about on Nairaland is about the achievements of Ambode. But when he singles out a topic to talk about Ambode's failure, then he is bias, right? |

ademoladeji:Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, explained that government is constrained to construct pedestrian bridges over major highways in the state to solve problems of traffic snarl on Lagos roads. In keeping with the philosophy, he said the state government has awarded the contract for the replacement of the failed pedestrian bridge at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi- Apapa expressway to Messrs P.W. Nig. Ltd. LEADERSHIP checks revealed that skeletal work has already begun on the project which in recent times, constituted a serious problem to pedestrians. With the failed structure already pulled down, the project which is to gulp about N400 million will be completed in four months. http://www.osundefender.com/providing-pedestrian-bridges-to-save-lives-in-lagos/ |
deboysben:I even learnt that the new pedestrian bridge at Berger bus stop along Lagos-Ibadan expressway costs around N15 billion. |
Dacronym:Seconded. |
24. Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), in a move that sparked controversy and suspicion, accorded Primero Transport Services Limited – a private company, with the exclusive right to operate on the lucrative BRT corridors in Lagos state. Meanwhile, the details of the contract LAMATA signed with Primero has remained shrouded in secrecy.

Wow. Very informative. Please, Autojosh, can I get your phone number? How do I contact you? |
TundeBricklayer:Sir, the title reads "40 Nigerians that own Rolls Royce". The title doesn't say: "All the Nigerians that own Rolls Royce". |
CANDYDADDY:You know, this is not a good mindset to have. In-fact, it is a dangerous mindset. One that hinders personal progress. . |
Movic1:Apparently, you didn't read the article. AutoJoshNG: |
Nice research work Autojosh. |
lonelydora:Unfortunately, thats the situation we have found ourselves. |
Nice one. Only if the government can patronize Innoson. Charity, they say, begins at home. I am surprised that this car brand has not been made the official government vehicle brand in the eastern states. Then other regions can follow suit. But then, our various governments would rather go for expensive SUVs that costs hundreds of millions. Of course, there is no way the price of an Innoson vehicle can be "padded" to be worth over a hundred million. Na awa way. |
afangsoup:Funny guy. You criticized but you don't want to be criticize? But seriously, you did not make any sense in your original post. |
solutionist:So person cannot pause his age in peace again?

Aren't we in trouble in this country? A country where we enjoy showering accolades on our destiny destroyers. They spend N100 on us, then they pocket N1500 for themselves and their unborn children. It is well, |
I can just imagine the trauma she must have suffered. And the thought of how the entire story would affect her children. So sad. |
Thank God no life was lost. |

Fuckyoumod:President Jonathan Flags off Dredging of Calabar Port Channel October 18, 2014 President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday flagged off the dredging of Calabar Port Channel to facilitate navigation of larger vessels into the port as well as increase the tempo of maritime-related business in Cross River state and beyond. The inauguration of the project also ends years of controversy and apprehension concerning the feasibility of opening the channel for easy navigation of super cargoes. https://scannewsnigeria.com/featured-post/president-jonathan-flags-off-dredging-of-calabar-port-channel/ Jonathan: Breaking barriers with Lekki Port DECEMBER 13, 2013 MANY issues naturally arise from the approval by the Federal Executive Council, FEC, last week, of a deep sea port for Lagos. The most prominent is the political significance of the decision against the backdrop of allegations that the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, may be hesitant in approving such a gigantic project with several positive draw-down effects on the economy of that hotbed of opposition to his presidency. Not only has it given a lie to that assumption, it has proven, once again, that the President on most occasions, rise above political partisanship on issues that border on the welfare of Nigerians. The Jonathan administration chose to approve the new Lekki deep sea port in spite of strong arguments against Lagos which already has two of the nation’s biggest ports. Not only do they handle over 80% of the nation’s maritime activities, port operations are chiefly responsible for the traffic congestion and environmental chaos in that emerging mega city. Indeed, the arguments against Lagos are strong. With as many as seven littoral states, five of which are controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party, President Jonathan could have chosen from several other options. But he would not be swayed. who do you think are the manufacturers of the so called made in Nigeria/ ghana cars? one way or the other the manufacturers are still Japanese. To me all they do is assemble in disguise as manufacturing. They just change the vehicles that are built already and emblem their brand name on it..
