The students' behaviour was rude. But the school is also at fault because they did not keep to time. Even dignitaries should learn to keep to time when they give speeches (which are most times unnecessary stories). Keeping to time shows discipline. Guests who come from far places and need to go back to their various destinations shouldn't be kept beyond the time a program is supposed to end. People have other engagements to attend to also.

I think the punishment should be reviewed to something lighter but if they refuse, unfortunately you will have to pay so that you don't waste one year at home.
