Landed seniors, I am looking to short-land next month with my spouse (I am PA). I will return to Nigeria while my spouse will remain in CA. We have 3 kids who wont land with us next month but will land with me on my final move next year. In this wise, will I need to present their passports and COPR on our landing next month even though they wont be landing with us? I don't think I should, but I will like to be hear from people who have done something similar. Thanks all |
THANK YOU Expectantbee: |
Expectantbee:Hi @expectantbee Pls when did you submit your passport at vfs and when was it dispatched from Accra according to tracking information? |
doppler06:Thank you. |
Yes.The ECA report issued by IQAS will state that your law is a professional certificate and with that you can chose "Masters degree or professional certification". paule: |
Please evaluate with IQAS and for this purpose, you need only your university transcript. No need for law school transcript. paule: |

I wrote my NYSC in my personal history as employed and my PPA as employer. TAxposer: |
Shyee:I registered with my ITA letter. However, I submitted my application and got updated UCI before the date I picked for my session. So I was able to attend with my updated UCI |
Received and responded. Jbelieve: |
Tojued:I am not sure this is correct. Although I already received PPR, I got my GCMS notes this morning. My application was processed in Ottawa even though I had a "review required" in respect of statutory questions (I had 2 US visa rejections). I got PPR in 2.5months. I also used pension fund as part of POF but only as a shore-up for forex fluctuations. My main POF (mutual funds) was sufficient. My pension was not even considered. |
doppler06:Pls how many days after approval did you receive pick up mail? |
WES will not evaluate your law school certificate without your law school transcript. Transcript is critical to the evaluation process. Aduke406: |
Flaj:Thanks for this, but at the time of creating the profile, did you choose professional degree for spouse or did you choose bachelors degree? It's no surprise that the visa officer did not upgrade the bachelor's since it will make no difference to the application. What will be interesting to find out is whether the VO would have downgraded the professional degree to bachelors equivalent if one had chosen a professional degree to start with. |
BarbaraCharles:Are you evaluating both your University and law school degree? if yes, please use the CRS to calculate your points using "2 or more certificates". Otherwise, just close eye and apply for IQAS evaluation to be safe. |
There has been a longstanding debate about WES vs IQAS for evaluation of LLB. Unlike IQAS, WES usually does not use the phrase "first professional degree" in its LLB ECA. Some have said that because of this absence, one cannot claim point for professional degree. But in your case, you still have the age advantage. So use the CRS to calculate your score using BSC for both you and ur hubby . If it puts you above 440, then you can select masters/professional degree when creating your profile. Worst case scenario is if, post ITA, the visa officer considers that your ECA is only a bachelors degree and recalculates your score on that basis, you will still be above the cut-off for your draw and your application will not be refused. But if with bachelors degree you are not above 440. Please use the tested and trusted IQAS. I hope someone helps to put this debate to rest soon. I know a couple who like you are both lawyers and are using WES but they are yet to submit their application. The plan is to select points for professional degree at the time of submission and then request for GCMS after submission to see how the visa officer will regard the ECA. Mind you, these people also have sibling factor to boost their CRS so even if their LLB is regarded as BSc, their CRS will still be about 450. Hopefully, this will help solve the debate.

Hi, I am not sure how the LLB program in your country is structured. I know some countries have a 3yr program, some 4yrs but in Nigeria, it is 5yrs. I don't know how IQAS will evaluate LLB from your country, but my advice will be for you to submit just your LLB if your program is 4-5 years. I wish you all the best. |
HRgirl:Engineering is not considered a professional degree. Only medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, optometry, law, chiropractic medicine, or pharmacy. see https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html |

Once the law degree is assessed as a professional degree, you get the same points that a masters degree holder will get. So when calculating her scores, select the option for "masters degree or professional degree r Needed to practice in a licensed profession". Law degree is not a masters degree but it is a professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession. |
Estac:READER-ALERT: VEEERYYYY LOOONGGG EPISTLE NOW FOR THE EPISTLE I am sharing this long version to underscore the importance of proper research in this journey and to encourage newbies not to despair when they are referred to 1 for information. I wrote IELTS on August 19, 2017 and results L 8.5, R 9, S 8, W 7.5 (maxed out at first attempt). I did not know the value of this result at the time because I was aiming for Australian PR and my target was minimum of all round 8. While I was weeping and lamenting my Writing score, a friend advised me to also consider migrating to Canada. I spoke to another a friend in Canada who advised me to use IQAS for my ECA because IQAS will assess my “law degree” as equivalent to Masters degree. In ignorance, I thought law degree meant law school degree. I did not know that law school transcript was not necessary for IQAS. Rush rush in September 2017, I paid IQAS, I sent University transcript and wasted over 2 months chasing for law school transcript. IQAS sent back ECA on Dec 21, with a “disappointing” email that it does not assess vocational certificates (or something like that). I checked my ECA report for the phrase “master degree” but forwhia!? The thing no de dia. They only wrote that is it "equivalent to LLB or first professional degree … " blab la bla. I started chasing IQAS with emails insisting that they may have made a mistake, that I have been told that my degree will be equivalent to “masters”. (Gosh I was so ignorant!). IQAS sha refused to budge. And without masters, I did not even near 420 CRS. No so I flung ECA report and IELTS results for one yeye corner since December and I started chasing post graduate admissions in Canada upanddan! (Jesus is Lord). It is not book that was hungrying me o. I was just looking for an exit strategy from Naija. That is how I wasted January –March plus plenty yeye university application fees, plus numerous transcript processing fees (for admission). I was just roaming in the wilderness while my ECA and IELTS were gathering dust where I flung them. Na so, April land with my birthday (minus 5 points). God’s mercy found me 3 days after my birthday. My colleague, who had codedly been processing EE stumbled on one of my university applications. The bros pitied me, called me to one corner to advise me about EE instead of student visa route. My people, I started boasting o- “I sabi EE, I have done IELTS and ECA since last year but I no qualify cos my points no reach, bla bla bla”. OK na, bros calmed me down and explained the meaning of “first professional degree…” in my ECA. WHAT??!!!. ADONBLIVIT. Bros recalculated my CRS. CHINEKE! And I have been wasting time in the wilderness when I could actually be on 452 CRS? Immediately, that very day. I did 4 things. (1) created a profile with 424, (2) registered hubby for the next available IELTS on May 24, (3) paid for hubby’s ECA with WES, (4) decided that my #mumudondo and was determined to research the EE process to the tiniest detail. I needed to make up for lost time. Na so I discovered this precious Nairaland thread PT 4. Nairaland, Canada-dot-ca and Canadavisa became my daily companion. I referred myself to page 0 (as it then was (my learned colleagues will get this phrase) while waiting for hubbys IELTS and ECA. Thankfully, by June, I was ready for ITA. I was anxiously waiting for the next Wednesday’s draw when IRCC almost give me heart-attack. ITA casually strolled into my inbox ON A MONDAY (June 25). The rest as you now know is history. Thanks to the wealth of information on this thread, my application was well thought-out and put-together. (Before nko? I had thoroughly learnt my lesson o!) The information here is worth more than gold o my people. The God-factor now iced the cake with a speedy PPR. So I hope I have been able to convince you of the importance of visiting page 1 and researching thoroughly for yourself. Me I have even researched even up to my first 5 years in Canny sef. No more dulling! |
My Darling Nairalanders, It is with great pleasure I dance in to announce the arrival of my PPR! Here is the short version. Timeline: AOR - July 14 MEP/IP1 – August 1 IP2 - September 21 PPR – September 25 (received 1.35am this morning). I wish everyone a successful outcome on this journey. God bless us all |
It doesn't matter that you are not using the account for POF. You can submit it just to show that there are monthly credits from the company giving you the reference letter. That should suffice in lieu of pay slips Boa33: |
Submitting your pay slip could cause issues for you. I will advise you try to avoid submitting payslips with your application unless specifically asked via ADR. People have submitted only reference letter and got ppr. If you feel you have to, you can include your salary account statement but not the payslip. Boa33: |
She certainly has experience managing a business. My advise is for her to find a managerial or supervisory NOC and explain that she manages a family-owned business venture. She should get a reference from the registered owners of the business, i. e. her parents. She can back it up with the business statements of account. Her BSC and MBA will show she has the qualifications. I believe this will work. Unionised: |
You don't need birth certificate unless you are claiming points for having a sibling in Canada. woaini: |
I would say go for option 2. It will look more authentic. Besides, why do you need your birth certificate? woaini: |
True. Also when you consider that the work experience is supposed to be FULL TIME not part time. How do you hold a bank job and still work full time on your personal business. That is the biggest misrepresentation i see in the story. The fact that he claimed points for full time work when in fact, he could only have worked part-time. Newmum0615: |
It's even more advantageous for you to use USA as your residence because US residents tend to get ppr faster. Just check immitracker. 30watts: |
ddshow:Congrats! Amen to your prayers |
adewumz:Thank you. I am looking for indication that I have dodged Accra bullet. |
adewumz:Hi, can u tell from your gcms note when exactly your file was sent to Accra. Was it shortly after MEP? If so what timeframe? Days or weeks after MEP? |
)...hubs and I are lawyers, but we are currently evaluating our LLB with WES not IQAS. What is the implication on our CRS? I'm below 30 years and the PA. Does this mean the points will reduce? what's the value of our llb certficate at WES? Can anybody guide me through? Thanks.
