hmmm toasted soya in powder form sells for 140naira / kg retail price And you want to sell harvested soya for 120 bulk order....?

Had a lil experience farming kankana (what the Hausas call it) in Bunkure, Kano early this year. The harvest was poor and I can't really point fingers as I was barely around and left it with some mallos to manage. I also failed to carry out serious feasibility studies as I just got carried away by the fact that almost every TomDicknHarry was planting it there, so I didn't envisage much problems. Fast forward 3 months later and almost a 100k gone (yea! see milking), all I had as harvest were not commiserate with expectations. Apart from the fact that the intense sun affected some (the mallos didn't want to harvest in my absence and I was too damn busy in Lag, they said the harvest was poor generally (I can partly attest to this as their Cucumber and Tomato yields in the part of the village I got were also poor). I'll attach pictures later sha. It was a real learning curve then, though I later came to realise that it is planted down south too. I intend doing it again sha but I don't have the time these days and relying on someone else (which I have to) is quite limiting too. I.might keep you guys posted then. Nice one Mangam.

Been there, done that (with no supervision from me coz I left it in the hands of others). It was crazy, expensive, and not as fulfilling as expected. My bad though.

you can try that too but I have not used it personally but I have friends that use it mostly for preventive measures and it works fine for them. I am use to aquacyril + both for prevention and cure of bacteria infection. For prevention you use it ( either aquacyril or blagdon) to mix their feed for 3-5 days and for cure you use it as I stated in my last post

It starts as scratches on the tail region and within days, it seems to eat of the entire tail of the fish. The fish eventually dies. Please help. there is a bacteria infection in your pond and if you have more than one pond it has probably spreads to ur entire farm....it is called finrot . first identify the ones with the sign of finrot (some will have slightly bruse body n red like tail and fin). Get a drug called aquacyril + , isolate the ones with the signs put them in a seperate pond (trust me almost all are infected so you have to treat both the ones with the signs and the ones yet to show sign) make sure water in the two ponds are quite low like ur ankle level and covering all the fish. Mix the drug with water and administer the solution into both pondz . do this for 3 to 5 days without feeding and mortality will stop

retin01: my Oga inthe house the kiln and d aerator is ready but I will b going to somebody farm by next week to test d aerator in d vat. D kiln uses gas and charcoal ,and electricity to power d turbine. With time I will go 4double door kiln. NB Catfish smoking business is a booming industry recently but must of them are not properly processed. Majority of the smoke catfish in the local market are processed using ovens with firewood or sawdust which exposes the fish to a lot of smoke containing carcinogenic material called Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). These substances can cause cancer in the long run for whoever is eating food materials exposed to them. This is one major reason why most of the smoked catfish produced locally can not be allowed to pass the US and UK border when one is doing a formal exportation ( watch-out for the next post to read about formal and information exportation) Apart from the fact that one can not export any fish containing high PAH, it is also very stressful and unhealthy for the person processing the fish. Considering the fact a lot of educated people are going into farming business and many of them that are fish farmers prefers to add value to their harvest rather than sell it to the market woman that end up pricing your harvest below cost of production. One of the few ways of adding value and making more profit from catfish harvest is by smoking and smoking should be done in the proper way using ovens that exposes the fish to zero or minimum PAH. This can only be achieve by smoking your fish with charcoal, gas or electricity.
Both gas and electricity expose your fish to almost zero PAHs why charcoal exposes the fish to minimum and neglige-able PAHs
