A Reno woman by the name Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick, born January 4, 1935, died last month, amazingly, to the relief and comfort of her children whom she spent a lifetime (in their words) "torturing in every way possible." Those children, now grown, marked her passing by submitting the most chilling obituary you will ever read to her local newspaper, the Reno Gazette-Journal. Here's the obituary's full text, culled from Gawker. Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick born Jan 4, 1935 and died alone on Aug. 30, 2013. She is survived by her 6 of 8 children whom she spent her lifetime torturing in every way possible. While she neglected and abused her small children, she refused to allow anyone else to care or show compassion towards them. When they became adults she stalked and tortured anyone they dared to love. Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit. On behalf of her children whom she so abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children. Her surviving children will now live the rest of their lives with the peace of knowing their nightmare finally has some form of closure. Most of us have found peace in helping those who have been exposed to child abuse and hope this message of her final passing can revive our message that abusing children is unforgiveable, shameless, and should not be tolerated in a "humane society". |

Dear Mama lyrics You are appreciated [Verse One: 2Pac] When I was young me and my mama had beef Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets Though back at the time, I never thought I'd see her face Ain't a woman alive that could take my mama's place Suspended from school; and scared to go home, I was a fool with the big boys, breakin all the rules I shed tears with my baby sister Over the years we was poorer than the other little kids And even though we had different daddy's, the same drama When things went wrong we'd blame mama I reminice on the stress I caused, it was hell Huggin on my mama from a jail cell And who'd think in elementary? Heeey! I see the penitentiary, one day And runnin from the police, that's right Mama catch me, put a whoopin to my backside And even as a crack fiend, mama You always was a black queen, mama I finally understand for a woman it ain't easy tryin to raise a man You always was committed A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it There's no way I can pay you back But the plan is to show you that I understand You are appreciated [Chorus: Reggie Green & "Sweet Franklin" w/ 2Pac] Lady... Don't cha know we love ya? Sweet lady Dear mama Place no one above ya, sweet lady You are appreciated Don't cha know we love ya? [second and third chorus, "And dear mama" instead of "Dear mama"] [Verse Two: 2Pac] Now ain't nobody tell us it was fair No love from my daddy cause the coward wasn't there He passed away and I didn't cry, cause my anger wouldn't let me feel for a stranger They say I'm wrong and I'm heartless, but all along I was lookin for a father he was gone I hung around with the Thugs, and even though they sold drugs They showed a young brother love I moved out and started really hangin I needed money of my own so I started slangin I ain't guilty cause, even though I sell rocks It feels good puttin money in your mailbox I love payin rent when the rent's due I hope ya got the diamond necklace that I sent to you Cause when I was low you was there for me And never left me alone because you cared for me And I could see you comin home after work late You're in the kitchen tryin to fix us a hot plate Ya just workin with the scraps you was given And mama made miracles every Thanksgivin But now the road got rough, you're alone You're tryin to raise two bad kids on your own And there's no way I can pay you back But my plan is to show you that I understand You are appreciated [Chorus] [Verse Three: 2Pac] Pour out some liquor and I reminsce, cause through the drama I can always depend on my mama And when it seems that I'm hopeless You say the words that can get me back in focus When I was sick as a little kid To keep me happy there's no limit to the things you did And all my childhood memories Are full of all the sweet things you did for me And even though I act craaazy I gotta thank the Lord that you made me There are no words that can express how I feel You never kept a secret, always stayed real And I appreciate, how you raised me And all the extra love that you gave me I wish I could take the pain away If you can make it through the night there's a brighter day Everything will be alright if ya hold on It's a struggle everyday, gotta roll on And there's no way I can pay you back But my plan is to show you that I understand You are appreciated [Chorus] Sweet lady And dear mama Dear mama Lady [3X] |

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM BENIN CITY — THERE was drama, yesterday, at Edo State Government House, Benin City, when the father of the stowaway teenage boy, Daniel Oikhena, who was said to be bedridden due to illness, surfaced during a meeting between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the family. This came as theDepartment of State Services, DSS, yesterday, handed over Daniel to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development but denied the mother, Mrs. Evelyn Oikhena, access to her son. Arik-stowed Daniel Oikhena Mr. Osaigbovo Oikhena, 44, a driver by profession, told journalists that contrary to reports that he was sick and bed-ridden, he was living separately from the family due to a disagreement with his wife. He said his wife refused to stay in the house where he could afford the rent. Therefore, he decided to move out of the house a year ago to where he could afford the rent. He said: “I decided to come here today (yesterday) to tell the world that I am the father of Daniel. Initially, when I heard the news, I thought my son was kidnapped. But my wife said I should calm down that when everything is okay, she will call me. My wife refused to move in with me “I never dreamt of going to America, I am not married to another woman. My wife refused to give the DSS my number when they asked for it. “Arising from my loss of job, I decided to move to a new apartment where I can afford the rent and told my wife that they should move in with me, but she refused and continued to stay in the three-bedroom flat on 7, Ehigiagbe Street, Ekenwan, Benin City.” Mr Osaigbovo who said he resides at Siluko Road, noted: “I usually pay my children’s school fees and provide feeding money regularly, contrary to claims that I abandoned my family.” He accused the wife of making it look as if he was dead by denying people access to him. Meanwhile, De RAUFS, a volunteer group which had indicated interest in the welfare of Daniel was at Government House, Benin City. Represented by Yinka Muyiwa, head of legal team, De RAUFS said it came to Edo State to reaffirm the scholarship it earlier gave the lad to continue his education up to university level. DSS releases stowaway kid to Edo govt The 13-year-old Oikhena has been in the custody of DSS in Lagos before he was released to the Edo State Government, yesterday. Meanwhile, Mrs. Oikhena, the mother of Daniel, has confirmed the return of her son to Benin. She told newsmen in Benin that she got a call, yesterday, inviting her to the state Ministry of Women of Affairs. She said: “I went to the office and was told that my child had been taken to DSS. I went there and saw Daniel. They did not allow me to touch or greet him, but he was looking good.” She said after a short session with DSS, she was asked to go and wait at the Ministry of Women Affairs. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/father-of-stowaway-boy-appears/#sthash.tkiXYlh2.dpuf |
Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos State, are investigating the cause of the death of a commercial bus driver, Okechukwu Osaka. Osaka was said to have died in the custody of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority on March 15, 2013. PUNCH Metro learnt that on the day, Osaka had parked his vehicle by the side of the road and had gone to a nearby canteen to eat. It was said that while he was eating, some people told him that a team of six LASTMA officials were towing his vehicle. It was learnt that in a bid to stop them, he had an altercation with the LASTMA officials. Eyewitnesses said despite Osaka’s efforts, the vehicle was towed. The deceased was said to have jumped into the vehicle, which was taken to Iponri operational base of the agency. Colleagues of the deceased at the Ojuelegba Motor Park told our correspondent that it was the last time they saw Osaka alive. But the spokesperson for LASTMA, Bola Ajao, had said Osaka died suddenly, shortly after arriving at the LASTMA office. She insisted that there was no foul play. Ajao in a statement, said, “A commercial bus with number plates, XS 318 LND, was abandoned at Ojuelegba with no occupant inside as of the time of the arrival of LASTMA officials at the scene. The vehicle was eventually towed by the officials to the LASTMA zonal yard, Iponri, Surulere. “The young man (Osaka) later made an appearance and was asked to provide evidence of ownership, and thus went to his parked vehicle. He was later discovered to be vomiting, shaking and foaming whitish substance from the mouth. He fell down and convulsed. The officials quickly made an emergency call to LASTMA control room. “The medical team of the Lagos State Ambulance Services pronounced him dead on arrival. The case was immediately reported at Iponri Police Division, where his remains and the vehicle were taken to for further investigation.” It was learnt that the Iponri Police Division tagged the matter as a case of “Sudden and Unnatural Death,” while the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Adelakun Ewunmi, transferred the corpse to Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary. However, the deceased’s colleagues were insisting that the LASTMA officials killed Osaka. The Igbo community in the state has taken over the case and was also alleging foul play. President General, Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos, Chief Ebere Ubani, said it was the strong belief of the group that the deceased was murdered by LASTMA officials. Ubani, in a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, urged the police authorities to ensure that justice was done; saying that investigation by the Iponri Police Division was summarily conducted. Ubani argued that the division should have transferred the case to the SCID since divisions had no power to investigate such cases. In response, the IG, in a letter dated July 25, 2013, and signed by his Principal Staff Officer, DCP Murtala Mani, ordered that the case be transferred to the SCID for further investigation. Investigations at the SCID, however, hit a brick wall when it was discovered that nearly six months after the alleged murder, no autopsy had been conducted. It was also gathered that the corpse had decomposed considerably. Osaka’s boss, John Nwachukwu, said he was surprised that the police at the Iponri station did not take the corpse for an autopsy despite the fact that he had paid for it three days after Osaka’s demise. He said, “Three days after his (Osaka’s) death, the IPO, Adelakun Ewunmi, collected N30, 000 from me for an autopsy. It was not until August 15, 2013, after the matter had been transferred to the SCID, that he hurriedly demanded that an autopsy be carried out. “The corpse was not well preserved at the general hospital and due to its decomposed state, we were told that the test was inconclusive. “I strongly believe that the IPO had an ulterior motive because he did not go to nearby government hospitals to conduct the autopsy. He did not go to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, or Gbagada General Hospital which are not too far from Iponri. He chose to go to Ikorodu and dumped the corpse there, thereby undermining investigations.” Nwachukwu said the deceased was not sick prior to his death and alleged that LASTMA officials assaulted Osaka in the presence of his colleagues before his death. He said he suspected that Osaka was beaten up in LASTMA custody shortly before his demise. When our correspondent visited the SCID last week, it was observed that the team of LASTMA officials had been arrested. It was, however, learnt that they had been released on bail following intervention of the state government. PUNCH Metro gathered that the corpse would be transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, for a second autopsy. When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back. http://www.punchng.com/metro/drivers-death-in-lastma-custody-stirs-controversy/ |

By EVELYN USMAN LAGOS — THIRTY suspected pipeline vandals, among them, two pastors and two teenagers were, weekend, arrested by officials of the Ogun State command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Isheri Olofin area of the state. The suspects, according to the Commandant, Mr Akinwande Aboluwoye, were arrested after a shoot-out. Recovered from the suspects, according to Aboluwoye, were canoes and 400 50-litre jerricans filled with siphoned petroleum product. Parading the suspects, among whom were six women, the commandant explained that the feat was achieved following a tip off. He said: “Immediately they sighted us, they opened fire, thereby leading to a gun battle. But when it became apparent that the heat was too much for them, they abandoned the products and jumped into the river and escaped. However, we were able to arrest their accomplices who reside in the area. We set the recovered canoes ablaze while surveillance has been intensified in that area.”. However, when the teenagers, Michael Oyedotun(13) and Azeez Ajani(12) were quizzed, they denied their involvment, saying they are apprentices in a tailoring workshop in the area. While Oyedotun claimed he was arrested while taking his bath at the Ogun River, Azeez admitted seeing jerricans around the area any time he wakes up. On his part, one of the pastors who identified himself as Nikuleyi Adesola, claimed he was arrested in the company of two female members of his church. According to him, “I live in the church. I was with two of my members when NSCDC officials ordered us to come out. I do not know anything about the recovered jerricans or activities of vandals.” Meanwhile, the commandant has said the suspects would be charged to court soon. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/two-pastors-28-others-nabbed-over-pipeline-vandalism/ |

Emmanuel Kayode, of Maraba Area, Ilorin, on Thursday told an Ilorin Area Court that his wife, Omolade Emmanuel was dirty. The 35-year-old man prayed the court to dissolve his three-year-old marriage to Omolade, for being dirty. “My wife hardly sweeps our surroundings and bedroom, and that makes our environment irritating and unconducive,” he said. According to him, their marriage was contracted in 2010 and has produced one female child, Morufat. He prayed the court to dissolve the marriage, saying that he is tired of his wife’s dirty habit. The defendant objected to the divorce prayer on ground that she was still interested in the marriage. “My lord, I promise to keep my home and environment clean, and carry out my domestic chores as expected of me,” she said. She prayed the court to give them another day for her to make a reconciliatory step. The Presiding Officer, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, adjourned the case to Oct.3, to enable the parties resolve their differences amicably or continue hearing of the case.
