CrimeCripple, 19 Beggars Sent To Jail by Etumgbe(op): 6:48pm On Jul 17, 2013
A 45-year old cripple, Sunday Erim Udoyo and 19 others have been convicted by the Special Offences Court in Alausa for begging on the streets of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, and sent to jail.

The Lagos State Government declared war against begging and jailed over 120 beggars last year.

On Monday, the cripple and six others were convicted and sentenced accordingly by the court. Because of his predicament and being a hernia patient, Udoyo was convicted and remanded at the Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre, Majidun, where he will spend two years.
The crippled man was said to have been brought to Lagos by his relation, Sunday Etim, 26, from Cross River State, to beg so that they could raise fund to carry out hernia operation. But two of them were arrested while begging.

Etim got two years imprisonment without the option of fine along with Wasiu Abass, 24, while Udoyo was remanded at Majidun after they pleaded guilty to the charge against them.

The charge against the three beggars read: “that you, the above named defendants on 13th day of July 2013 by 9:00 a.m. along Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, placed yourselves on the road for gathering of alms and committed an offence punishable under section 166(2) of the Criminal law 2011.”

Three others, two sisters and male beggars were also arraigned same day and sentenced to one year imprisonment without the option of fine after they pleaded guilty. They are Peace Ezugwu, 24; Mercy Ezugwu, 26, and Dotun Owokiigbe, 20.
The charge against them read: “that you, the above named defendants on 12th day of July, 2013 by 4.50 p.m. at Abiola Garden, Ojota, placed yourselves on the road, for gathering of alms and committed an offence punishable under section 166 (2) Criminal law 2012.

They were also accused of conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace and collection of illegal dues from persons and committed an offence punishable under section 2 of the Illegal Collection of Dues in Public Place Law of Lagos State 2013.

The beggars were further accused of conducting themselves as disorderly people without visible means of livelihood and committed an offence contrary to section 166 (1) (a) Criminal law of Lagos State 2011 and punishable under section 166 (2) of the same law.

All the beggars were arrested and arraigned in court by officials of the Lagos State Office of Youth and Social Department.

Between May and early July 2013, thirteen other beggars were jailed, while 12 others were sentenced to community service plus payment of fine ranging from N5,000 to N30,000.

In one of the sentences, eight of the beggars will serve one month imprisonment with the option of N5,000 fine each, while two others were sentenced to three months imprisonment or pay a fine of N25,000 each.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Social Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru, frowned at begging on Lagos streets as it constituted offence.

He warned Lagosians not to give alms to beggars as the beggars and the givers were culpable. Governor Babatunde Fashola had also vowed to stamp out begging in the state, saying beggars constituted nuisance to the public and must be driven away from the streets.

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA
OWERRI — THE Imo State Police Command has recovered and detonated varying sizes of bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, and allied materials abandoned in the state during the 30-month civil war, which lasted between 1967 and 1970.

Speaking after displaying the weapons, yesterday, state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Mohammed Katsina said in the course of their sweeping operation, five local council areas have so far been cleared of any debris that pose danger to people.

Katsina said some other explosive materials were recovered from hoodlums, who normally engage them as subduing devices before they commence operation.

The CP said: “Some of the recovered bombs, IEDs and allied materials include old war time ammunition from the old military trench at Okigwe Local Government Area, five primed IEDs recovered from the scene of a robbery at one of the new generation banks in Ezinihitte Mbaise.”

Similarly, 10 old war time military bombs were recovered at a road construction site in Ogbaku, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, six bombs from Ohoba, Ohaji/Egbema Local council area and some IEDs from a generating plant environment at Okigwe.

The command also recovered an IED built inside a fire extinguisher, a rocket launcher, five electro-magnetic war time bombs and six hand held grenades from a road construction site at Orlu.

Mohammed said four primed IEDs and one hand held grenade were recovered from an abandoned vehicle used by robbers along Okigwe Road, Owerri.

CrimeMan Abducts Son, Beats Lover's Boyfriend To Death by Etumgbe(op): 10:05am On Jul 16, 2013
The police in Lagos have declared a man, Victor Sunday, wanted for allegedly beating one Ubong Effiong to death in Ijora-Badia, Lagos State.

According to the police, the suspect beat up Effiong on June 14, 2013 after allegedly seeing him in a compromising position with his girlfriend, Gift Essien.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, learnt that the incident occurred in Essien's house on Enigbokan Street by railway line, Ijorin.

A neighbour, who craved anonymity, said Essien and Sunday had a son and had been dating for over two years.

She said, "Sunday and Essien have been dating for quite some time and they even have a two-year-old son. However, they are not legally married.

"Essien works at a canteen while Sunday is a driver. Sunday is not always around because he travels a lot. He rented a room for her here and comes to visit Essien and their son regularly.

"However, because of Sunday's refusal to marry Essien, she started seeing Effiong and they soon became inseperable. Effiong also took care of her and her son."

PUNCH Metro learnt that on the fateful day, Sunday came to visit Essien when he met Effiong with her in a comprising position.

Sunday was said to have picked up a stick which he used in beating up both Essien and Effiong.

The source said, "We learnt that because Sunday is a lot older than Effiong, he (Effiong) did not retaliate when Sunday hit him with the stick.

"When the beating got out of hand, Essien ran out of the room and called neighbours to come and rescue her lover. Sunday locked the room and continued to beat Effiong till he almost passed out.

"We were able to break into the room through the window and we saw the man badly beaten so we went to report the matter at the Ijora Badia Police Station."

The source said the police did not arrest Sunday, who was still in the area when they visited the crime scene.

She said the next morning, Effiong gave up the ghost, adding that soon after, Sunday fled the area with the two-year-old boy.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed Effiong's murder.

Braide said after Sunday leant that Effiong was dead, he took his two-year-old son from Essien and fled.

She said Essien had been arrested.

She said, "The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba and the lady (Essien) is in custody.

"She (Essien) said she could not say what exactly Sunday used in killing Effiong because she ran out of the room to get help.

"Efforts are on to arrest Sunday, who is on the run with the little boy."

PropertiesNo Landlord, No Agents, No Money: 100 Tenants Battle Over 13 Flats by Etumgbe(op): 5:38pm On Jul 15, 2013
Over a hundred tenants who were expecting to be given keys to their new apartments on Monday stormed Ketu area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, after they realised they had been duped by the property’s developer.
The prospective tenants had paid hundreds of thousands of naira for 13 mini-apartments and were asked to come for their keys on Monday at the newly built house located at 59, Oriola Street, Alapere-Ketu.

However, on Sunday night, rumour began to circulate that some tenants had been given keys and were already occupying all the apartments.

Those who arrived today had to confront those already occupying the apartments, claiming they had also paid for the apartments.

As dozens of people stormed the house in protests, the developer, the landlord and the agents had all disappeared.

Their phones were all switched off. “I paid N400,000 for a mini-flat and I was asked to come and get my key today,” said 69-year old Mrs.

Mariam Eboigbe. “But the landlord is nowhere to be seen.”

The house belongs to Alhaji Ishola Salawudeen who issued some receipts to the prospective tenants and gave his address as 59, Oriola Street, Alapere-Ketu.

“I paid to the landlord himself. I came to meet him here and I paid him N230,000 for a room self-contained ,” said Iyamah Anthony Oshoke.

Bashorun Ganiat who paid N475,000 for a two-bedroom flat was also stranded.

Calls to the landlord did not go through. Folami Emmanuel paid N380,000 as rent for 18 months, while Mutiu Ogunlana paid N230,000.

Other duped victims such as Ismail Olatunbosun, Stephen Okeleke and Abel Oke paid N325,000, N550,000 and N325,000 respectively but could not get the apartment.

“I paid N205,000 for a year rent. I don’t know what to do now. I don’t know where the developer or landlord lives,” said Owoyomi Aderemi.

Iyamah Anthony who paid N230,000 and Ambrose Simeon who paid N410,000 could not believe they had been duped.

Utulu John Ndubusi who paid N250,000 and Ukachukwu Theresa who paid N500,000 said they don’t have anywhere else to go as they had borrowed the money to rent the house.

Others such as Ebenezer Rotimu who paid N320,000, Ugochukwu who paid N150,000 and Ofenake Benjamin who paid N250,000, looked dazed and stared at the house helplessly.

Pastor Yele Akin who had paid N580,000 and Omoniyi Aderemi who paid N205,000 as well as Lateef Fadipe who paid N200,000, were frantically trying to get across to the landlord or the developer.

“People can be heartless,” said Alli Rasak who paid N305,000. Jessica Onuoha who paid N410,000 and Abdulsalam Olawale who paid N210,000 as well as Okechuwku Collins who paid N300,000 were about joining others to go to Alausa to lodge a complaint.

Many more tenants were showing up and displaying their receipts at the time of going to press.

PoliticsPolice Gun Down Killers Of Lagos Hotelier by Etumgbe(op): 10:08am On Jul 15, 2013
Five of the gunmen who stormed the 04 Hotel in Ajah area of Lagos last Sunday have been confirmed dead.

The robbers were killed in the early hours of Sunday (yesterday) in a shoot-out with the Special Anti Robbery Squad Ikeja, Lagos.

Several gunmen had stormed the hotel in a purported reprisal for the arrest of a colleague by SARS operatives at the same hotel. Seven persons including the owner of the hotel, Olarenwaju Subair, were killed in the attack.

Police sources who craved anonymity, told PUNCH Metro that the robbers who were moving in a convoy of an Honda Odyssey and a Jeep on Sunday (yesterday) for another operation, had earlier attacked some policemen at Ajah and later at Ajao Estate before the shoot-out with SARS operatives.

A police source said, “The robbers began their operation around 1am at Ajah but just as they were moving out, they encountered a team of policemen on routine patrol. They opened fire on them and in the ensuing exchange of fire, one policeman was killed in the process and another wounded.

“Immediately, the robbers aborted their mission and drove drown to Ajao Estate. They got to Ajao Estate at about 2am and attacked a major dealer in phones, ipads and other ICT products.

“In the process, a police corporal, attached to the Mobile Police Force was killed. Valuables worth millions of naira were carted away.”

Having received a directive from the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, to apprehend the robbers, SARS operatives led by their leader, SP Abba Kyari, were said to have laid ambush along the Mushin/Ojuelegba areas while two more teams went towards the island to block the robbers escape.

Not long after, the robbers who eventually drove through the Mushin/Ojuelegba road, were said to have opened fire on sighting the SARS teams.

In an intense gunfight that reportedly lasted 30 minutes, the robbers were chased from Stadium in Surulere to Eko Bridge.

The source said, “Some of the robbers had been wounded in the car from the gunfight but that didn’t stop them from driving. It wasn’t until the driver of one of their vehicles sustained a gunshot injury to the neck that the vehicles stopped at Eko Bridge.

“Some were already dead in the car. Several more fled their vehicles and jumped over the Eko Bridge into the ocean below. But some of those who jumped must have been wounded, because there was blood on the rails of the bridge.”

It was learnt that items from Ajao estate were recovered from the vehicles of the robbers. Policemen from the Area A command and the Marine Police later combed the waters, but did not find any corpse.

Manko confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro.

He said, “Five robbers were killed in the exchange of gunfire with SARS operatives. They had earlier attacked a major phone dealer at Ajao Estate before they were ambushed by SARS operatives along the Mushin/Ojuelegba areas.”

PoliticsEkweremadu, Gana Locked Out Of Tukur’s Residence by Etumgbe(op): 2:58pm On Jul 12, 2013
By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—THE crisis between the Professor Jerry Gana-led Special National Convention Committee and Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came to the open, Wednesday, as Gana and Secretary of the Committee, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, were locked out of Tukur’s residence.

It will be recalled that since the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party, at its last meeting last month, approved the Committee to conduct elections into the posts vacated by some members of the National Working Committee, NWC, who resigned, Tukur and the committee had been at loggerheads.

The problem, Vanguard gathered, first came up when Tukur complained of non-inclusion of members of NWC as sub-committee members, which then led to the inclusion of six of NWC members.

The National Chairman and members of the interim NWC, a source told Vanguard, were not happy with the Gana’s committee on the grounds that the committee was operating as a parallel NWC, whereas the committee was expected to take directives from the Tukur-led NWC.

Eyewitness account

According to an eyewitness, both Gana and Ekweremadu were at the Wuse 2 residence of Tukur as early as 9.30a.m., Wednesday, to intimate him of the progress so far made by the committee and the new date for the special national convention.

However, the source said, aides of Tukur refused them entry and locked out.

The source said that the aides of PDP national chairman had told Gana and Ekweremadu that “Chairman had travelled before their arrival.”

Gana and Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President, were said to have insisted that Tukur was inside his residence since all his security details were around and intact.

Determined to see Tukur, Gana then came out of his car to sit at the Police tent in front of the National Chairman’s house, while Ekweremadu remained inside his official car marked Deputy President of the Senate.

After waiting for over 20 minutes, they dropped a message for Tukur with one of the security details and then left.

According to the source, no sooner had Gana and Ekweremadu left they left the PDP chairman’s house at 10.04a.m., than members of the Interim NWC arrived to commence meeting with Tukur.

The members left after an over 60, while Tukur left his residence for a journey to Yola, Adamawa State, at 12.03p.m. with his entourage.

One of the party members, who met with Tukur before he travelled, was the new Director of Mobilisation and Organisation, Uche Igwe.

‘Why Tukur’s angry’

Explaining why the Tukur was not happy with Gana and his Committee members, the source said: “Gana’s committee has, against the norms, relocated the special convention committee from the offices of the party to a private office in Wuse 2 by the Parakou Crescent.

“The committee had awarded contracts for the convention, yet the date of the convention is not insight. The contractors have awarded and produced the wrappers for the convention without any directive from NWC.

“Even the six members of NWC that are expected to be members of the convention committee are yet to be given or made members of the special committee.

“To make matters worse, Gana’s committee had gone to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mike Oghiadomhen, to request for money to conduct the convention, but they were turned down and asked to channel their request for money through the National Chairman.”

According to the source, Bamanga Tukur would want to trash out these issues with President Goodluck Jonathan before audience would be granted to the Gana’s committee.

FamilyNursing Mother Commits Suicide After Baby Dedication by Etumgbe(op): 9:39am On Jul 10, 2013
A 35-year-old woman, identified as Ejobosele Okoruwa. has committed suicide in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government, Edo State, few hours after dedicating her three months old baby in a church.

Ejobosele dedicated her baby on Sunday, while she killed herself in the early hours of Monday.

Her lifeless body was found dangling from the ceiling with the wrapper she allegedly used to hang herself.

Husband of the deceased, Okoruwa told journalists that he slept in the sitting room with two of his children, while his wife slept in the bedroom with their eldest daughter and the baby.

Okoruwa said it was shouts from his daughter around 2am that woke him up, adding that he rushed inside the room only to see his wife dangling from the ceiling.

He said recent behaviour of his wife indicated that she was depressed, but it did not occur to him that she would take her own life.

He said, “I usually sleep in the parlour with two of our children and it was not different that day. My wife slept in the bedroom with our eldest daughter and the baby.

“Around 2am, my daughter started shouting from the bedroom. I rushed inside, thinking that she was having a nightmare, but I was shocked to see the lifeless body of my wife dangling from the ceiling. She had hung herself.

“She had been exhibiting some strange behaviour recently. One time she would be moody; the next, she will just be looking at one direction. When you call her she would not respond.

“I tried to know if she had any problem bothering her, but she said she was okay. There was a time she told my eldest daughter to take care of the children that she would be going away. I thought she was abandoning the marriage. I pleaded and she promised to stay. She equally complained of some health problems. I asked her to go for test which she did.”

The Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Esan West, Mr. Akpoko Omuohowo, who confirmed the incident, said the police were still investigating.

CrimeMan Tortures Son To Death, Buries Corpse by Etumgbe(op): 8:53am On Jul 09, 2013
A 34-year-old man, Arogundade Ahmed, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly flogging his son to death.

According to eyewitnesses, Arogundade tortured his 13-year-old son, Qudus, to death because Qudus broke into someone’s house and attempted to steal.

Arogundade was said to have killed his son in the presence of his little sister, Sherifat.

PUNCH Metro learnt that after killing the boy, Arogundade dug a grave and buried him in front of his house in Alogba Estate area of Ikorodu

Our correspondent, who visited the crime scene, learnt that the incident occurred on June 27, 2013.

It was leant that the deceased was an apprentice at a mechanic workshop in the area.

A senior police officer at Ipakodo Police Division, who craved anonymity, said, “We were told that on the said date, Qudus broke into the house of one Apoti Lateef and attempted to steal. Lateef raised the alarm, accosted the boy and then called his (Qudus) master, Idowu Gabriel.

“Gabriel and Lateef said they tied up the boy and then called his father to take him away.”

Our correspondent learnt that Arogundade took the boy home and then beat him up with barbwire, sticks and other objects for about five hours.

As the beating continued, Qudus started getting weak and later died.

According to eyewitnesses, on seeing that Qudus had given up the ghost, Arogundade called a grave digger to bury his corpse.

An eyewitness, Adekunle Adekoya, told PUNCH Metro that no one could intervene when Arogundade was beating up his son because Arogundade was a hot-tempered man.

He said, “He (Arogundade) is hot-tempered. When he brought his son home around 12pm, he beat him till about 5pm. The boy kept on screaming and we could do nothing to save him because we did not want his trouble.

“Some neighbours were also around at the time but no one wanted to interfere. After sometime, the boy just went unconscious. We did not know he was dead. It was when I saw a man digging a grave in front of Arogundade’s house around 7.30pm that I knew the worst had happened.

“I immediately called the Lagos State Emergency telephone number but no one came.”

The traditional leader of the community, Oludapo Sule, said he reported the matter to the police as well as members of the Oodua People’s Congress.

He said they were able to apprehend Arogundade at midnight.

He said, “I received an anonymous call on the day of the incident and the caller told me that a man had killed and buried his son in front of his house. I was able to meet with the landlords in the area, who confirmed the incident to me

“So, at midnight, he was picked up and taken to the police station. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba and I have written my statement.”

Sule however urged the police to ensure that Qudus’ corpse was exhumed and given proper burial.

Chairman, Alogba Estate and Palapo Town Community Development Association, Mr. Agboola Aluko, said Arogundade had been terrorising the community for quite some time.

He said Arogundade had inflicted machete cuts on Qudus before and had even threatened to kill members of the community.

He said, “Arogundade had beaten Qudus with a machete before and even almost killed his wife. That was why she divorced him. Even when he was being arrested, he threatened to deal with anyone who spoke against him.

“I have settled many disputes in this area caused by Arogundade. Even women in the area are scared of him. We have reported his bad behaviour to the police before.”

Arogundade, however, said he did not kill his son. He said his son was merely beaten after he was accosted for stealing.

The police statement on the incident read, “Upon his arrest, Arogundade said he did not kill his son. He said he (Qudus) was almost dead when Lateef and Gabriel handed him over. He said his son died soon after and then buried his corpse in front of his house and went to bed.

The police source said, “We have also arrested Lateef and Gabriel but they claimed they only tied up the boy and did not kill him. Investigations are ongoing.”

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back.

CrimeBus Driver Rapes 2 Daughters For 2 Years by Etumgbe(op): 5:32pm On Jul 08, 2013
A 35-year old bus driver, Adewale Adeleke has been arrested by the police for defiling his two daughters. The little girls alleged that their father has been having sex with them for two years.

The incident occurred in Ikotun, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

Adeleke was arrested and detained at the Ikotun Police Station over the act.

His two daughters, who were in tears, confessed that their father had been sleeping with them since 2011 without the knowledge of their mother who separated from their father last year.

The girls are 13 and 10 years old. The eldest of them (name withheld) alleged that their father started sleeping with her when she was 11 years and her sibling when she was eight years old and that it was her father who deflowered her.

“Our father sleeps with us frequently. The first time he slept with me, I saw blood coming out of my private part and he used singlet to clean me up,” she alleged.

The two girls are now under police protection while their father will be arraigned at the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court later today by the police.

The act was exposed when the Vice Chairman, Freelance Broadcast Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, Demola Olota, Mrs Esther Ogwu of the Esther Child Rights Foundation and Mrs Mary Olasupo of the Compassionate Women arrested the alleged culprit and handed him over to the police.

It was gathered that Adeleke allegedly admitted that he had been defiling his daughters since 2011 and that he should be forgiven.

He was quoted as saying that the devil pushed him to have sex with them and that whenever he felt the urge for sex, he defiled his daughters.

Mother of the children, Kemi Adeleke, who left her husband last year to Ibadan, Oyo State was shattered when the news that her estranged husband had been sleeping with their children was broken to her, saying she could not eat for two days.

Kemi said she left her husband because he was an irresponsible man.

She said she is the one that feeds the family and even on top of that she gets seriously beaten up by her husband.

According to her, when she left for Ibadan, she left the children with her mother but her husband went there to bring them back home.

Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, described the man as wicked for defiling his two girls for two years, saying that her foundation would ensure that justice is done in the matter.

She stated that when she interviewed Adeleke at the police station, he admitted to the act, adding that the foundation was trying to see if the children’s mother could take custody of the children when she arrives from Ibadan

When contacted, Lagos State Police Command, Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ngozi Braide confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying that he would be arraigned in court soon.

Some gunmen stormed a hotel in Ajah area of Lagos State on Sunday, 04 Hotel, killing the owner, identified as Olanrewaju Subair, and three others.

The police authorities said one of the gunmen was killed in the operation which lasted for about an hour.

However, two people died from a fire outbreak that was caused by intense shooting in the hotel.

It was learnt that several people were injured.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed heavy security as policemen, attached to Rapid Response Squad, were seen patrolling the area.

All attempts by our correspondent to enter the hotel proved abortive as policemen attached to MOPOL 10, Bauchi, prevented him from going in on the grounds that investigations were ongoing.

A source, who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that there was a fire at the hotel shortly after the shooting.

He said, “The gunmen came for Subair but ended up shooting others in the process. They killed his girlfriend who was with him and then killed two other people. They then shot two others but those ones did not die.

“The shooting caused fire and two customers, who were in another room, were burnt to death. The fire continued to rage so we had no choice but to call on the fire service.”

The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, told our correspondent on the telephone, that his men were able to put out the fire. He also confirmed the death toll.

“We received the distress call around 7am on Sunday that there was a fire. On getting there, we were able to put it out but two people were burnt ,” he said.

It was learnt that the matter was reported at the Area J Command but was later transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja.

A police source, who craved anonymity, said the gunmen were probably robbers that were on a revenge mission.

“A notorious armed robber was arrested at the same hotel sometime ago. We are working on the assumption that it was members of his gang that came to the hotel to carry out a revenge mission,” a source said.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the attack to our correspondent on the telephone.

Braide said she could not say the casualty figure but confirmed the murder of Subair.

She however said the police were able to kill one of the culprits.

She said, “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad had raided the hotel sometime ago and had arrested the leader of the robbery gang as well as two members of the gang. The gang members at large stormed the hotel and shot the owner and some of his employees.

“The robbers told the customers at the hotel that they came on reprisals however one of the employees was able to call the police and on sighting the policemen, the robbers opened fire. The policemen shot back and one of the robbers was killed. An AK47 rifle was recovered from the robber.”

Braide said the police high command was interested in the case and the culprits would soon be brought to book.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Umar manko, has vowed that the robbers will be arrested.”
