Generalgurus: Speaking what you don't know to God is very bad.. You don't even know if you are talking to God or Devil in the name of prayer, mind what you speak... I was taught that its only the Holy Spirit that can help someone to speak in tongue, just like it happened to the Apostles..

Kizzygentle: Speaking in tongue is a scam. Jesus Christ never spoke in tongue to proof anything. You are only decieving yourselves acting like your speaking in tongues. Most pastors mix different languages in one sentence and claim speaking in tongues. A girl invited me to Christ embassy one day when I was in school and when I went there I was shocked at what I saw. The pastor said if u want to speak in tongues come out and he will pray for them. See d way gullible people came out and after d pastor with fried hair like oyakhilome prayed for them they were all forming speaking in tongues. I wept that day. I was hearing calabar language mixed with hausa in one sentence.
My advice is whatever is ur problem or whatever u need and u need Gods intervention, u don't need to speak in tongues. Be sincere with ur request and have a clean heart and ask God. God will grant ur request so easily.
Happy Sunday and God bless us all. God have mercy |

kress2m1: We speak in tongues when it suits us, because we are lazy, can't muster the focus to pray in a language known to us, so we take the easy way out and chant nonsense, like the idolaters do.
Since I came to my senses, when people are praying, I always tell them beforehand that if you speak in your so-called tongues, I will simply step outside and let you finish your chants. I will not say amen to it at all. Amen is a signature that I agree with what you are saying, that I'm signing the prayer contract with you.
When, during calmer seasons, I always ask them this question. Suppose we were given $1 Million dollars to share, and I bring a contract to you detailing the share, but it's written in the Chinese language, which I know you can't read or write in, and I ask you to trust me and sign it, will you sign it? The answer has always been No.
If you can't trust me, whom you know, with a contract written in a known language, even though you can't speak it or write in it, why should I trust the gibberish you are spouting, which none of us can interpret, understand or even write down?
Examples of when GOD spoke to individuals directly, and their responses:
1. Samuel - LORD, speak, for your servant hears you. Samuel, then a young boy, heard GOD speak to him clearly, that he initially thought it was Eli calling him. 2. Abraham - He conversed with GOD for a while and even bargained with HIM to save the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. 3. Saul - When GOD spoke to him from heaven, it's attested that the people with Saul, heard a voice, but saw no one, hence their terror. Or does GOD now speak with unbelievers in shakalamaboshegelashobababomagologoraka? That may even have terrified them the more... Acts 26:14 even goes as far as to state that the Voice spoke to them in the Hebrew/Aramaic language! 4. GOD spoke with Elijah 5. When Jesus was transfigured on the mount, the disciples with Him, clearly heard Him discussing with Moses and Elijah, 2 beings we know to be in Heaven, in a language they knew. No spiritual nonsensical language was reported at this event. 6. Finally, when the disciples asked Jesus, teach us how to pray, for goodness sake, what did He tell them? We now have what is called The Lord's prayer.
Why then, despite all these antecedents, would our loving Father in Heaven, send us a language that is terrifying to the ears, sounds like an asylum under riot and makes unbelievers to make jest of HIS word. Is this the comfort that the Holy Spirit brings?
I've said my own. Some will still call me demon possessed or some such nonsense. Let's see whose chosen form of prayer language closely resembles that of demons... God have mercy |

If I had said a Nigerian Uni, you would be same person who will dismiss them as places where PHD's are bought with money as GEJ is forever accused of doing.
You Nigerians are the same who will drag a President for being "certificate-less".
So what/who exactly do you want to accept as indicators? Man with no certificate is not intelligent and cannot do the job. Man with certificate for academic effort obtained at the pinnacle level of education may still be a dullard also not fit for the job according to you.
If not a mischief maker you will accept we can only accept formal markers as guidance of judgement. I.e level of education, employment history, proof of relevant experience and solution delivery. etc.
Generally, someone with a PHD from a decent institution of education should be intellectually robust and certainly not a dimwit if one knows the meaning of thay word. That is the reality for most people cut or dice it whichever way you want. All this speech does not exempt a PhD holder from been 'stupid' or 'unintelligent'. Does it? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do We Need To Speak/pray In Tongues? by Evercurious(f): 10:15am On May 24, 2020 |
Nelx: This comment is apt. I believe that speaking in tongues is biblical and from God but as usual, the church of today has corruptted it. This days, men of God behave as if God does not hear English again. Immediately prayer starts, you'll start, next thing you'll hear is pray in the holy spirit, then the rabbababashobobo mazamaza lekuleukumarama will start. And it's funny cos everybody is gifted with the gift of tongues but no body can interpret. Like I thought interpretation of tongues is also a gift of the spirit. Why is it only tongues that every dick and Harry is gifted with, few people have the gift of healing, they cannot discern spirits, no gift of wisdom or understand, abi is it prophesy? The most annoying is if you are praying in English your thing, they'll come and lay hands on you and start commanding you to speak in tongues. I went to believers loveworld fellowship one day and they told the usual first timers to wait behind. Only for the sister's to start laying hands on all of us telling us to speak in tongues. What nonsense, what if they was a Muslim who was invited by his friend. Again, I thought the holy spirit doesn't dwell in a sinful person. 90% of these guys speaking in tongues are liars, fornicators, cheater. We know them, we see them. Finally, that tongues thing is mostly faked by people. I know cos under pressure I have faked speaking it and it's annoying to remember. Also, if you listen to them, you'll know that a particular tongue is been spoken continuously by a particular person all their life. E.g sister Gloria is always saying yayayayayabezerere suzaya while brother Joseph is always saying rabarobosenterebe. Fake fake and fake Please let's be guided and stop making the name of God a thing of mockery. My dear speaking in tongues edifes you..leave them to speak in tongues..as per the other gift of the spirit, some people have and are still receiving them.. Face your own race and desire ALL the gifts of the spirit and you ll receive them all.. IN THE LAST DAYS I SHALL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH.. |

Like she was praying and "speaking in tongues" so that I could start speaking in tongues that moment. Aunty pray tire and was expecting that I would start faking it. Honestly, I tried to fake it, but I just couldn't. Why would I stay and start saying nonsense for no reason? Obviously you NEVER DESIRED it. So you never got filled.. |

Whatever anyone is speaking today is not a tongue.
There's no point speaking language neither you or your congregation knows the meaning... How the hell then did you know your talking to God when you have no idea what you're saying? Get to the next level - INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES. Okay? |

babaolofin: The fact remains that IBOs are very parochial minded to an irrational level that it becomes an absurdity engaging them on objective level on a matter of national discourse or importance. For a man to call Emir Sanusi whistle blowing as CBN governor a false alarm is the reasoning of an Onitsha main market trader. It is Emefiele at CBN that covered the looting. IBO man as CBN governor, Ibo man as Finance Minister, semi IBO as petroleum minister.
If Abacha were to be alive, would they have discovered the money? How much of IBB's loot has been discovered?
Estimated $80 billion was perfectly looted under GEJ by Okonjo Iweala and his kinsmen in a distributed and well arranged fraud. A government that made the highest revenue in the history of Africa from time immemorial till date but saved no one kobo, instead, she borrowed heavily while oil was selling at high price. She spent part of reserve OBJ left. That is the greatest technical fraud in the world. She borrowed to pay salary before leaving office. IBOs noises and cry will never allow us a study of GEJ's stewardship. You call IBos criminals but how much loot have been traced to them? Isnt it Abachas own we have been repatriating till thsi moment and God knows when it ll end. Your father Buhari 's own ll soon come up. Let's just wait for it. IBO matter kill you there.. |

Makanakico: Abacha never intended to use the stashed monies personally, he was advised to stash enormous cash in different central banks of the world to alleviate the effect of looming US sanctions; the US wanted to sanction Nigeria because Abacha wanted to form an alliance to form an African unified currency. So Abacha should rather be praised because he meant well for Nigeria. But baby-factory-land people will be here to spill non sense.
