by half-shimi....u mean what?

or you mean wrapper tied around the waist because black up and white down is a bad combination unless suit..

CultureRe: Niger Delta/igbo Men And Wrapper Underwear by ewa26(op): 2:06pm On Aug 09, 2020
MelesZenawi:
and he is still making same mistake?

are you okay?

I have always argued here all time that half education is highly dangerous to the society....and killing the country called Nigeria deeply

what do u mean by Niger delta men?

if you want to compare igbos as ethnic group then use another ethnic group to do so...that's how sound logic looks like..

Niger delta is a political creation of 9 states comprising of both igbos, ijaws, efiks, Ibibios etc many ethnicities saddled with the responsiblity of overseeing the affairs of these states.

pls adopt sound logic and your question will be answered soundly.
but the thing is men from all Niger Delta groups wear wrappers so it’s not the worst thing in the world to lump them in as one conglomerate mass

but for the sake of you I’ll rephrase as follows: is it okay for Ijaw, Ibibio, Urhobo, Itsekiri and Igbo men (and in fact any other ethnic group in Nigeria where the men tie wrappers) to wear a plain black or white half-shimi underneath?
CultureRe: Niger Delta/igbo Men And Wrapper Underwear by ewa26(op): 11:23am On Aug 09, 2020
MelesZenawi:
Niger delta and Igbo are two different things...u go school so?

Igbo is an ethnic group...

Niger delta is a political creation having Igbo states also in it..

What's your educational qualification?
I didn’t say they were the same, just pointing out what ethnic groups wear men’s wrappers and that Igbo and Niger delta men alike do it huh

so pls answer the question
CultureNiger Delta/igbo Men And Wrapper Underwear by ewa26(op): 11:41pm On Aug 07, 2020

First, Itshekiri is not a yoruba dialect. It is a full language on its own. Second, there is not but one bit of Itshekiri trace in Rivers state. Or, is this your sleek way of trying to claim oil-rich Rivers State? undecided
itsekiri that is more mutually intelligible to yoruba than abakaliki and ikwerre are to igbo is not a dialect but ikwerre is? huh

Eulalia:
Huh? Say what?

For the Majority here who claimed they ate the jollof at Yoruba parties and therefore based their judgement on that are wrong cos most party food are prepared by "Olopos" and these Olopos are from Togo and Egun. They do the most cooking of the rice. while yorubas among them only make Amala, moimoi and other menus for the event. I'm talking matter of factly because I'm into catering as well.
If you doubt, visit a Yoruba at home and eat thier homemade jollof you'll know this post is not true.

I'm Igbo and I cook any kind of jollof from party" jollof to other types and I mean for events and not with gas o; fire wood with those huge pots. That is what gives you the sweetness of "party" jollof and not all these gas cooked version that tastes dry and bland.
Though Ive stopped for sometime now cos it a stressful job but that does not mean I can't cook it any longer. Even with my eyes closed, I can.

So its something one can learn.
so how do yoruba people themselves cook regular jollof rice compared to in igboland? do igbos have party jollof?

You and your half shimi questions.

It happens with some frequency. All it does is serve a practical function for people who wear wrappers (male or female). Anyone who sees it as exclusive for women is mistaken.

I don't know, and don't want to know lol. But there's not 'tradition' that tells you what to wear under your wrapper, and there's no igbo word for 'boxers' so 'boxers' can't be a part of an igbo 'tradition'.

Anything anyone wants to wear in Igbo culture is their business. There are no rules on casual dressing in our culture.

yes I’m male, so is it okay for an Igbo or any other southern Nigerian male group known for wearing wrapper to put half shimi underneath for the same reason women often do??

And the answer you keep being given is the affirmative.

You want to rock a wrapper without the coarse fabric riding up on your skin then by all means wear a half-slip/half-shimi underneath but it must be black and plain with no slits or lace.

FoodRe: Which Tribe Cooks The Best And Worst Jollof Rice In Nigeri by ewa26(op): 7:48pm On Sep 15, 2019
Moboj:
First let's take a look at the normal Yoruba Jollof Rice to an Igbo's own
Igbo people will use oporoko and different stockings to cook their own you won't know the difference in it and Banga soup sad
But Yoruba's normal concoction Jollof Rice is a combination of normal ordinary ingredients but still with a differentiating taste factor that this is "Jollof rice" and not Ewedu Alasepo's recipe or gbegiri's style
Don't know if you understand
And now back to the Party Jollof Rice
Yoruba's like it "red" "hot" "salivating" both literarily and literally
So just the pepper pepper and tomatoes as been practiced over the years to bring out a distinguishing taste just to the "Yoruba's"
That's why our ata dindin is different from that of Igbo's own
So the difference in the flavour originated in the quantity of the "elo" bought (pepper, tomato bla bla) our love for "hot" actually brought up all the differences
so how do other tribes who are non-Yoruba and non igbo cook jollof rice and which is second best after yoruba and which is the worst overall by naija standards?
FoodRe: Which Tribe Cooks The Best And Worst Jollof Rice In Nigeri by ewa26(op): 6:33pm On Sep 15, 2019
Moboj:
Yoruba's Jollof Rice is actually the best in Nigeria and the best in the world
They have numerous flavours to it
There's this one that's now like Ibile Party Jollof Rice, that calls you back to a past decade of reminiscence and your mouth water and you want to give a tear to the fact that God is Great!
Ounje lodun to yi cry
Then there's this other one that's like it's half done with a sort of light red to it
Coming from another type of Kokorin pot that they allowed to burn at the bottom, sending the smoke to the top to give it an explicit kind of smell
Then there's this other one that's cooked finish
If you use normal Iron pot to cook with this dryness to it,leaving each grain of rice as individual beings with a sense of "you're all going into my tummy"
Abeg lemme stop here, there's still more
Yoruba Jollof over any other anytime anyday
what other flavours does Yoruba have and what’s Igbo rice like in comparison? huh
