Rev Rowland Jide Macaulay, the gay minister who founded House of Rainbow, Nigeria’s only gay church, which was forced to close in 2008, has expressed his gratitude to God in celebration of his 50th birthday.

“It is unbelievable that this moment has come. I AM 50 YEAR OLD. I am delighted and grateful to the almighty God, who is incomparable, the omnipotent and magnificent God. If I have a thousand tongues it is not enough to express my gratitude. I just want to say THANK YOU GOD.


I also want to say thanks to my parents, who laboured in my upbringing, though my mother is late. I believe she is looking down from heaven with joy and blessings for my future. I am grateful for my dad too, who through all hardship has the forbearance of hope and wisdom of a father.

I want to say thanks to the thousands of people who have befriended me in joyful and difficult circumstances, too numerous to mention here, but I am joyful because of the unavoidable contributions in my life.
Half a century is a gift, everyday will always be a precious bonus.

Macaulay first set up House of Rainbow in 2006, when he openly held Sunday services in a Lagos hotel hall decked out with rainbow flags. A public backlash culminated in members being beaten as they left church. Macaulay fled to the UK after death threats.

Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok, the Plateau State PDP gubernatorial candidate in the last election has died. He died this morning in India after a battle with kidney disease.
Pwajok fought a close battle in the April governorship election, losing to the eventual winner and now governor, Simon Lalong. Olisa Metuh has confirmed his passing! May his soul rest in peace. [img][/img]

[img]http:///wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Nigeria-Police-logo.jpg[/img] An officer of the Nigeria Customs Service simply identified as Azeez and his wife have been arrested by the Ogun State Police for allegedly buying a set of 4 day-old twin babies for N500,000 in the Sango Ota, Ogun state. According to Punch Metro the couple were arrested by the Sango Police Division last Thursday and the babies have since been recovered from them and the couple  have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
A police source said: “The incident happened last Thursday. The police got a tip-off that the couple had gone to Ibadan, Oyo State, to buy twin babies for N500,000. We then moved in on them and discovered it was true. The twins were just four days old on the day of the arrest. We have not seen the parents yet. Azeez said in his statement that he and his wife already had a child together but they had tried to have a second child for 23 years and so they decided to purchase the twins. The suspect told the police that he paid N500, 000 for the babies.
The babies were with the police until Friday, when they were transferred to Abeokuta.
The suspects were taken to the anti-kidnapping section of the SCID. The parents of the babies haven't shown up to claim them but the police said the babies are doing very fine.
The Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest. He added that investigations were still ongoing. He said: “The arrest is true. The case has been transferred to the SCID, and it is being handled by the Anti-human trafficking department. The suspects are still undergoing investigation. During our investigations, we will get across to the parents and find out the circumstances that led to the disappearance of their babies. We will also get across to the NCS authorities to show the level of complicity of their officer. I cannot disclose the suspect’s name, because we are still investigating. He was arrested with the wife.

The blogger, Raif Badawi nearly died when he was flogged the last time. Raif, who is in prison, was sentenced to 1,000 lashes & 10 years in prison for insulting Islam in a post he shared on social media.

His wife, Ensaf Haidar, who lives in Canada, told reporters yesterday that the Saudi authority was planning to resume the flogging soon at the prison where he is being held. She said Raif is in 'a poor condition', and was suffering from high blood pressure and was mentally very stressed.

In a letter to a magazine after his first 50 lashes, and since being jailed, Badawi (pictured above) said: 'All this cruel suffering happened to me only because I expressed my opinion.'


Badawi, a father of three (pictured with his children) co-founded the Saudi Liberal Network. He was arrested in June 2012 under cybercrime provisions and a judge ordered the website shut after it criticised Saudi Arabia's religious police.

The network had also announced a 'day of liberalism' and called for an end to the influence of religion on public life. [img][/img]

Following Governor Ambode's announcement on Sunday that there are plans by his government to purchase three helicopters that will help in tackling the increasing traffic and security challenges in the state.Lagosians have taken to twitter to criticise the move.

The Federal Government has ordered a probe into an allegation that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, illegally diverted about N1 trillion, being proceeds of corruption that was recovered by the agency.

‎FG, through the Federal Ministry of Justice, directed the commission to open investigation into ‎a petition dated September 18, 2015, which was forwarded to the Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abdullahi Yola, by ‎the Chief Executive Officer of Panic Alert Security Systems, Mr. George Uboh.

The commission was ordered to forward the outcome of its investigation to the Federal Ministry of Justice for consideration and possible follow-up action.

The FG had also in a letter with reference number, DPPA/PET/EFCC/006/2008,‎ signed by the Director of Public Prosecution, Mr. M.S. Diri, notified the petitioner that it has sanctioned investigation into the allegation against Lamorde.

“I refer to your letter dated the 28th September, 2015, in respect of the above mentioned subject matter,” the letter read in part.

“I am directed to inform you that your petition has been sent to the EFCC for their response to the allegation contained therein. The commission has been directed by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary to forward the result of its investigation as soon as it is completed.

“Accept please, the assurances of the highest regards of the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary.”

In his petition, Uboh had requested that Lamorde be investigated and that the Justice Ministry divest the EFCC under Lamorde of the Fiat to prosecute criminal suspects.

He also sought an immediate issuance of “fiat for the prosecution of EFCC’s past and present leadership and their known and unknown co-conspirators via the 22-page preliminary criminal charges the undersigned has prepared.”

The current Imo state governor's first daughter is named Uloma Nwosu (nee Okorocha). She married one of his commissioners, Uche Nwosu in 2014. According to Chinedu Ozordi, the governor named a government building after his daughter. Chinedu shared the photo and wrote "In 2015 public building in Imo State is named after the daughter of the gov."

Wike who was peeved by the protest by members of the IPOB in Port Harcourt, warned that such demonstrations will no longer be tolerated by his administration. Insisting on the indivisibility of Nigeria, which he swore to protect, the governor said the actions of the IPOB members are capable of causing chaos in the state. The Governor who gave the warning in statement issued by Opunabo Inko-Tariah, the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, said that “as the Chief Security Officer of the state who swore to protect life and property, he will not tolerate actions that will lead to a breakdown of law and order in the state.” Dissociating himself and the state from the protest, Governor Wike warned that the coercive legal machinery will be set in motion against any group that will disrupt the peace in the state. He enjoined residents and all those transacting businesses in the state to go about their lawful duties, assuring them of safety.
