Ezeuche,
I have answered quite a few of your questions.
can you answer mine? What is the meaning of "Edo- isi-Agbon"
                                and " Edo-o-Odion"
. If you don't know? Find out. Have a nice day.
"Edo- isi-Agbon"= Edo is the source of life.

''Edo-o-Odion"=Edo is the senior twin.

In the light of what we have earlier established, these are just feel-good local slogans of your people, or of Edos. An okra tree can never be too tall for the farmer who planted it. Edo is a relatively younger language. Igbo 'senior' Edo.

@onlytruth,
The correct spelling is Amadi, like in Amadioha.
In Edo Oha mean forest/bush. Amadioha means
the brave one of the forest.Note the word oha is
the same with egbo another Edo word for forest,
a word from which Igbo was derived by conjugation.
There's a more stronger connection in language etymology between Igbo and Yoruba than with edo, since it is believed that Yorubas descended from the Arabs and Igbos from Jews. It is also a no brainer that Arabs and Jews are both of the same semitic family.

It would be largely incorrect to say that Igbo words are coded in Edo- a language much younger Igbo.
Any resemblance you observed are simply joint Igboid-Yoruboid shared words that the Edos plagiarized from the Yorubas.

If i may ask you, What does Amadi mean in Edo?

PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Ever Be More Than A "mere Geographical Expression"? by excanny: 4:50pm On Sep 10, 2010
I see a hope of Nigeria being more than a 'mere geographical expression' likely in the South. There's a lot of similarities between the ethnicities south of modern-day Nigeria than with the ethnicities north of Nigeria. The non-violent nature of the southern ethnicities makes it more easier for them to accept each other and live as one.

On the other hand, the islamization of the north, coupled with the likelihood of violence associated with extremism in the dominant religion there makes it increasingly difficult for ethnicities to see themselves as one.

The ethnic tensions as we have it today was fueled by the violent taking of lives that occurred in the late 60's. Ofcourse, no party is less guilty than the other in the circumstances that led to the violence and subsequent distrust amongst the Nigerian 'tribes'.

The great Zik, for instance, felt comfortable being in the western region and contesting in the house of assembly in the west, at the same time advocating for an Igbo VC in UNILAG. A lot of Hausa-Fulani kids felt comfortable living in the eastern region and speaking Igbo fluently as the natives. This was when Nigeria could truly be said to be one. All these was to change with the advent of the civil war and the resultant disharmony.

If all the ethnic groups in Nigeria were to be sincere with each other, I strongly believe we can still experience the pre-war Nigeria that the likes of Zik enjoyed, if and only if everyone is true to himself.

Now that we have an electoral act…can we have a credible election in 2011? Or is it another way of making us believe that things are going well, when we all know that we are not going anywhere? For now, no body knows the stand of President Goodluck Jonathan…we do not know weather he is contesting or not, but if he is truly interested in making 2011 election free and fair, then he must not contest…because it will almost be impossible for an incumbent not to rig election in Nigeria. But if he truly wants to contest and at the same time make the election free and fair, then he should resign in December 2010 and handover to an interim government. That way,Nigerians will know that at least he made a first step.

Nigeria must survive.
I couldn't have said it better. However, the odds of him doing so is one in a bazillionth. But my question sometimes is, why didn't Nigerians see him as this good while Yaradua was still president? At least one needs to have some antecedents. In his case, lets say we assess him right from his vice presidency. What contributions did he make then? We should have been recommending him for presidency while he was still a VP? Sycophancy is one thing i personally will not take part in.

Somebody once brought out a thread here that shows the ethnic composition of candidates who wrote JAMB examinations and he showed with figures that kids in the SE states participated more and were among the 5 best candidates.

It's just one of those fallacious stereotypes that abound. Just because a few groups of igbos(Mostly Anambra and Enugu) have perfected the act of buying and selling, then all igbos are traders.

What an error!

Concerning GJ's ethnicity, the fact remains that there has been some inter-marriages between Ijaws and igbos in the past that the lines of differentiation had become somewhat blurred. This issue may even be beyond GJ. So for convenience he had to choose one and he chose Ijaw.

Otueke, I believe, was a town founded by igbos, either they were driven out of there or were wiped out before or during the civil war. It's just an assumption, though. igbos lost a lot after the war. If not that we are a voracious breed, we could have only existed in the pages of history by now.

@ Ezeuche

Even Israel as tough as they are never jokes with allies. One factor that has always worked for Israel is that they have the identities of their enemies and friends clearly defined. Their diplomatic policies works well with their doggedness.

Like it has already been highlighted we need an Igbo leader who knows his onions when it comes to diplomacy and knows when to apply the brakes. This will help us curry favour with other ethnicities, even in our quest for the presidency.

The North will not hand over to any Igbo come 2015. Honestly I am highly disappointed with OnlyTruth and EzeUche. Are u guys this gullible? The North na King makers? U see until u southerners and Igbo quit thinking the North na the Alpha and Omega u will forever treated like slaves. Look at how insolently the North is dangling some chicken drum stick in our faces like we are some hungry puppies and u see nothing wrong with it. Why can't the Igbo contest now? So the North tells you when you should run and like servants u say yes sir. You are no different than the Yoruba and Ijaw who for a while have made it a culture to suck orthern balls.
These so-called cyber analysts who have never set their foot in Nigeria. You talk as if Nigeria's democracy is that mature. You think this place is the US or the UK.
You really have no clue of what the north is like. How can you, when you only know Nigeria from the maps.

You have no clue of the geographical imbalance of the north and how their people reason. In 1999, OBJ lost elections in all 6 SW states, including in his own village. Yet he won the elections. If you even subtract the SE and SS votes, he will still be on the winning side. So what are you saying that the north are not king makers.

Just like bros ONLYTRUTH said, if you dont like it, get your acts together for a recession, maybe you can pull it off.

They want to dangle this carrot to deceive the Igbos to support them
.

The next president of Nigeria will not want to leave office until after two terms.

The PDP is an EVIL POLITICAL PARTY and only fools will vote for the PDP.
When they dangled 2 Yoruba carrots(Falae&OBJ) before you in 1999, they weren't deceiving Yorubas. But because they made an open promise to igbos, they now have become deceivers.

Speaking of people who speak from both sides of their mouth. Why is it that when an Igbo man tries to move a step forward, it's always frowned at? In fact, igbos have more
enemies down here in the south than up in the north.

Something about this needs to be done.

What is the problem with the Ngwa?
You are failing to get to the root of these problems. It's not about Ngwa people being troublesome. All these are reactions to show how the people feel about the bad governance in the state. These boys complained about the poor leadership during the Wahab Oba kidnap, yet no one listen to them after the incident. As to the issue of a state, you are correct. Ngwas do need a seperate state since their land is left undeveloped at the expense of umuahia. 6 local governments out of the 17 in the state. Long live Aba state.

Of course he's yoruba/ can't you see his name?
Not all people are conversant with Yoruba people and their names. Some people only know them as one of the main tribes in Nigeria, and may not be able to distinguish their name. Just like some Yoruba cannot differentiate an ibibio/urhobo/ijaw/idoma from an igbo. So she's correct not to know.
