I really think that the key to whether jonathan prevails over the northern hopefuls or not lies in the primary elections. If GJ gets floored there, shi ke nan. One of the obstacles that stands in the way of GJ is the new electoral act, especially the areas of appointment of delegates by their respective states. GJ himself has complained about this loophole. I hope he scales through this. And Atiku does not find his bearing into the PDP. |

gadogado:Well said my brother. You are a very sincere man. This is what we argued extensively last week. When people dont keep to agreements in their private lives, why wont they be sycophants. We need to learn how to live truthfully in this country. I'm not a northerner, but i plead their cause. They should be allowed to field a NW candidate in PDP. If we dont like him, we vote him out in the election proper. |
As in how? In what way? I am simply a realist and I try to reason with my head, not with my heart. BTW, I LOVE GJ as a person. |
otokx:Yes, because of entities like Edwin Clark. This guy should just go and sit in his village, tending little infants. |
According to the source, many Last week, Chief Edwin Clark,These 2 highlighted fellows are the worst error Jonathan ever committed. If he loses, he will never stay within 1 km of this 2 mischievous entities. And look at this Clark of a thing, an avowed hater of Igbos. All I have to tell you is that you are a BIG LOSER. I only pity Jonathan who might lose Igbo support due to Clark. |
I still dont understand why all the desperate moves by the President. It seems to me that Jonathan lacks the drive to really lead this country. One of the early signs he's giving out which many people fail to decipher is that he's a man who's not really in control of things, as shown in the FIFA-NFF drama. As much as I like him, i still believe inside me that our country needs somebody who can carry his own weight, with a big drive to lead this country by himself, not someone who is being forced to rule to satisfy the selfishness of some group of people. I rest my case. |
Despite the signing of the reviewed Electoral Act by President Goodluck Jonathan last week Friday, the Presidency has already initiated a process of sending an Amendment Bill on the Electoral Act to the National Assembly. In fact, the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has set up a committee with the mandate of vetting the entire Electoral Act. According to an impeccable source in the Presidency, the President has already registered his complaints to some members of the leadership of the National Assembly who met with him last weekend at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to the source, the President identified two major areas where the new Electoral Act needed to be amended. These are the sections relating to how primaries for the presidential election are to be conducted and the other being the designation of the special delegates for the primaries. It was gathered that Jonathan is not comfortable with the provision of the new law, which specifies that the primaries for the presidential election should be held on state to state basis rather than the previous practice where the presidential primaries is held at a specific venue on a particular date, with all delegates gathered. Our source further revealed that the concern of the President ’s campaign team is that if primaries for the presidential election are staggered, Jonathan ’s campaign team will encounter a peculiar problem in reaching out to the delegates in many of the states, especially in the North, a situation that could leave primaries entirely in the hands of the state governors. The source said, “The President is not comfortable with the provision that primaries for the presidential election should be held from one state to the other. “The major concern here is that if all the delegates were to converge on a venue to elect the presidential flag-bearer of the party, that way the President ’s anchor men will have the opportunity to reach out to all the delegates. “But if the provision that the primaries should be held separately is allowed to stand, then it means that the governors will be more on top of the situation. “And if there is anything the President’s team will not accept in this race, it is leaving anything to chance. ” Again, the source said that the other area where the President has picked a hole in the reviewed Electoral Act is about the designation of special delegates for the election. The source said that the concern of Jonathan is that his appointees, especially ministers, should be allowed be vote at the primaries as special delegates. The source said, “Another critical area where the committee set up by the President is looking at is the designation of special delegates for the primaries. “The President wants all his cabinet ministers to vote during the presidential primaries and it is one of the areas expected to be amended in the Electoral Act. ” Although the source did not mention the names of members of the committee that will vet the Electoral Act, the source however added that members of the committee will include some appointees in the political office of the Presidency, some state governors and other appointees of the President. The source also said that the committee is expected to submit its report to the President “any time soon.” The source said it was after that that the Presidency would forward an amendment bill on the Electoral Act to the National Assembly. It was gathered that Jonathan decided to sign the Act into law in order to fast track the preparation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2011 elections. Sources said that Jonathan was worried that the fears expressed by the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, that the enabling laws that would aid the conduct of the 2011 elections had not been signed into law, could affect the conduct of the elections. It was gathered that Jonathan signed the Electoral Act after expressing his misgivings about certain aspects of the law to the ranking members of the National Assembly. A source in the Presidency said, “ There is no doubt that there are issues with the Electoral Act as presently signed into law by the President. “But the President was quite conscious of the need not to give any room for reasons to be given for the failure of the 2011 elections. “Hence his decision to sign the bill into law and then complain thereafter. |
Lanrefemi:In your dreams right? Anytime you wake up, reality will still stare you in the face. Be careful what you say, man. The last time a Yoruba ronu(Em Kay Oh) said that he never lived to repeat such again |
Aigbofa:You mean light years ahead in terms of being experts in sleeping with other peoples' wives. Yes i agree. No contest. |
We have a crime section for this. Put this kind of threads there. |
Riot5000:You are quite right. That man was the grand master of tribalism. The damage he did to his people's psyche is still there up till today. |
What a contrast! In my case, i'm an igbo guy extremely interested in yoruba women. I've dated only yoruba women all my life and these are my attractions and a bit of dislike. My attractions: 1. Very polite and respectful 2. By book or trick, likely to be educated. 3. High self-esteem My turn-off: 1. I dont like yoruba foods, quite boring 2. I dont like seeing a yoruba man near my girl, i dont trust him. But i love to see more igbo guys open up and marry yoruba girls. Pls my brothers they are nice. Different from the men. The way i see it in what happened to Hausas and Fulanis, that they so intermarry that they turned to one ethnic group(Hausa-Fulani) will in the future happen to Yorubas and Igbos. |
Onlytruth:Actually, i'm one of those die-hard nigerians who believe he deserves the cancellation and the election was only peaceful, never free and fair right from the primaries. First, for saying nonsense about Igbos. Second, for thinking he can buy anybody over from his stolen loots at ITT. |
Hundreds of branches of banks in Ota, Abeokuta and some other adjoining towns in Ogun State closed to customers before mid-day on Friday as dare-devil armed robbers raided two banks in Ota, Ado Odo/Ota Local Government of the state. The bandits, who were said to have arrived the Oju Ore Junction area of the Sango- Idiroko Road around 9.30a.m, were said to have blown open the security doors of the United Bank for Africa Plc with dynamites before launching a similar attack on the Sterling Bank Plc, where unspecified amount of money was said to have been carted away. This incident came barely 48 hours after the state government donated an Armoured Personnel Carrier to the state police command to be deployed in Ijebu Area. A resident of the area, who called her husband in Abeokuta to ensure that the man, a political office holder, was away from danger, said the area was thrown into utter confusion as bank customers, motorists and commuters fled the area as the hoodlums shot sporadically to take control of the banks. A police source, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity on Friday, claimed that the robbers blew open the doors of the affected banks as the doors were bullet proof. The top police officer, however, denied claims that the bandits were not challenged by the police while also claiming ignorance that the hoodlums escaped with their loot from the two banks. The resident, a woman in her 30s, told our correspondent that the robbers operated freely after she noticed some stranded passengers, who fled the vicinity of the banks along the main road to adjoining streets. As news filtered in that some bandits were raiding banks, the other banks in Ota and Abeokuta as well as other offices and shops in the commercial areas of Ota, locked their doors to customers, claiming that they had closed for the day. Some aggrieved bank customers, who were in the finance houses from 12.00p.m, expressed their displeasure at being locked out and prevented from collecting money for the weekend. The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, told our correspondent that he would not be able to confirm the incident as he was “out of town.” A top police source at the State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, confirmed the attack, saying the banks should support the state government to beef up security. punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20100828473178 |
MR Money £:No be matter of whether na by force. Na matter of our rights wey we deserve. Anybody wey fail to recognize am, no get good intention for this country. |
Seriously, i think Jonathan needs to take a course in Yoruba politics. That will reveal a lot of things to him. Let OBJ keep feeding him with lies and let him continue digesting them. Jonathan because of his eagerness to thwart laid down process in an attempt to achieve a premature ambition will find himself in a corner he will never believe. i wont say too much. |
NIGERIA! NIGERIA!! NIGERIA!!! How many times did i call you? Our contribution in this union is immense. Igbo is tired of VP. We want the real thing. |
dayokanu:And how many of them that came forward did become presidents? |
sbeezy8:There are 3 zones in the north(NW, NC, NE) while there 3 zones in the south(SW, SS, SE). When one zone in the north does 8 years, another zone in the south does 8 years, then it returns to the north and back again to the south to a different southern zone. So whichever way you look at it, there's rotation of power between north and south, at the same time along the geo-political lines. |
dayokanu:I'll give you a small assignment in form of a question, go figure out and come back and tell me here. That election had it's primaries done 2 times. Strange, right? Your assignment? Why was the first one cancelled. The answer you get to this, answers your request. |
With zoning, the desperation is less, and no candidate will resort to such malpractices. That's what we're saying. |
dayokanu:And also proven that the way to do that was by votes for bribes and public money sharing. If that's what you call winning. That's a shame! |
Lanrefemi:You quite a sincere Yoruba man. I commend you for that. At least something different from OBJ, sjeezy8 and company. Like i said it yesterday, the zoning principle is as old as Nigeria, and existed before PDP, and will outlive it. I dont know if i need a stick to beat it into some people's ear that without zoning a group of people are going to hold all of us to ransom, hold our children and our children's children. It seems this same set of people have no clue on the geographical imbalance in the country. 12 core north states, 4 non-core north states. You only need to capture this 16 states, and you have the country in your kitty. This undue advantage might be taken over and abused and abused. I'm sure you dont want that for your kids. |
sbeezy8:You make me laugh in a deep scandinavian dialect. To some extent, 1993 elections was fair, but not as square as Yoruba propaganda protrays it. Let me ask you something. Why was the first primaries to that election cancelled and repeated? What about the allegations of public money sharing done in cities like Ibadan and co? Typical of a Yoruba ronu. Neither here nor there in agreements. That's why i'm not suprised when you speak the way you do. |
sbeezy8:If Awo had contested elections in this country a million times, he would have lost a million and one times. Why? He kept doing the same things that wont ever work in this country. The system that allowed the SW to taste power in 1999 is a principle that is as old as Nigeria. If you throw away that agreement, you would have automatically sold your birthright to a group of people who will rule you till Christ comes and even beyond that if possible. |
sjeezy8:Keep on entertaining yourself with half-truths. Can a political party ditch it's own flag bearer? Ogbonna Onu was APP's presidential flag bearer. It's when the officials of Onu's APP decided to form an alliance with a Yoruba AD, and the details of the deal were quite shady, Dr. Onu had to distance himself from such magomago arrangements. Moreover, some SE governors-elect urged Onu to give a chance for an all-Yoruba contest, maintaining that the SE will get their turn in the future. Go get some reliable source of information instead of digesting half-truths from a local abuja blog. |
sjeezy8:We love this country. We want to be in this country. Our fathers fought to create this country, but Nigeria will disintegrate because of your insincerity and magomago. |
Self-sacrifice is a non-existing word in Yoruba's dictionary. God bless Dr. Ogbonna Onu. He makes me feel proud as an Igbo person. Now Yoruba ronu, reciprocate in kind in 2015 for an Mr. Onu's kinsman. Na lie. He's planning to play the usual 'Ibadan' politics. I tire for Yoruba ronu. |

igbos dont lower themselves. Never! even before all-mighty proxy superpowers Russia and Britain controlled Nigerian military. Abiola was notorious for prostrating before all the emirs in the north prior to his presidential elections. What do you call that? So who are the people lowering themselves before the north. You cannot win an election only from your region so we decided to lobby other zones. What lowering ourselves about that? |
sjeezy8:History also showed that in that same elections, the Igbo VP was on the winning side while the Yoruba presidential candidate(Awo) was on the LOSING side. Which is better a winning VP or a presidency dream that never materialize? |
