PoliticsRe: Breaking news: Army Have Taken Over Aba! by excanny: 10:34am On Sep 30, 2010
It's not the first time. These kidnappers are notorious for killing soldiers by armbush. On a daily basis, you'll always find corpses of soldiers and police men on the ground. The soldiers should work hand in hand with a local who will guide them and they should be wary of possible armbush attacks lest I fear for their lives.

At least, things are looking good. I'll only be disappointed if this operation is solely for the rescue of the 15 pupils, the army should not leave for the next 18 months.

Pure foolish talk. cool

Igbo say that Nwata erughi eru we juo ihe gburu nna ya, ihe gburu nna ya egbuo ya!

All these kids who just come here to yap and insult their elders, I have one question for you.

Have you ever seen Yoruba kids insult their elders (no matter what), or Hausa youths insulting their own elders? huh

It just does not happen, no matter what. undecided

If Igbo elders gather to discuss and find ways to make Igbo relevant in Nigeria, idiotic Igbo kids will insult them.
If they stay at home enjoying their old age and ignore Igbo plight, the same kids yaps up and down. angry angry

Anyone who feels that the Igbo leaders and elders are useless should step up and become that leader. cool If you can't, then SHUT UP! angry

Ojukwu was only 33 years when he led Biafra. undecided

Most of you here can't achieve that even at 60.

Nonsense.
Thank you, onlytruth

Extra pure foolish talk. I dont know whats wrong with Igbo kids of these days. Way too much audacity. How dare you speak to elders like that? Even if they did something contrary to common wisdom, it should be pointed out with the utmost respect.

I'm disappointed with the breed of Igbo kids we have these days.

I'm not surprised at your ignorance. When you can't even spell a simple word as 'Igbo' correctly. Then how are you supposed to know that Aba is only a small part of Igbo land? Silly amala Yoruba!

Owerri and Umuahia are much safer towns than Aba!
Because no one make no sense by making generalisations. So how did you expect people to listen to you?
PoliticsRe: Gej Should Declare A State Of Emergency In Abia State (aba): by excanny: 10:22pm On Sep 28, 2010
The first step to restoring sanity in Aba is impeaching the governor and ensuring his removal. The kidnapping/armed robbery syndicate have consistently mentioned him as one of their problems( i suspect there's some unexplanable connection between the governor and these criminal ring).

A subsequent call for surrender of arms and a peace treaty and rehabilitation of the misguided youths; something similar to what was done with the militants of SS.
PoliticsRe: Igbo Leaders Summit: Ohakim Prevents Igbo Leaders From Holding Meeting by excanny: 10:01pm On Sep 28, 2010
Ohakim should bury his head in shame. How dare him to shut out respected Igbo leaders-an ex-VP and ex-Senate President of the federal republic et al? An ordinary governor for that matter. This Ohakim has way too much audacity.

He must make a public apology because he insulted not just these honorable men and women but the entire Igbo race.

Are you serious? You are really funny. I had a face-to-face encounter with these monsters on my way back from Port Harcourt last week, the kinds of weapons and the audacity of these boys parade is something you should pray never to witness. An abomination is going on in Abia.

A small group of misguided youths are giving everybody a bad name. PATHETIC!

Even though it was the Imo government that did the deeed not GEJ, He has no choice but now to come out publicly and address this issue and the now internationally reported issue of the kidnapped primary school children in Aba.
If Ohakim was truly involved in all of this, then this makes his second faux pas, having been linked to a previous shameful act of beating up a cleric.

I'm really begining to lose the respect I have for him as the best performing SE governor. It's sad!
PoliticsRe: Gej Should Declare A State Of Emergency In Abia State (aba): by excanny: 12:02pm On Sep 28, 2010
Declaring a state of emergency in aba will not solve anything. What we have in aba is not a case of riots or violent killings, but of armed robbery and that is what must be addressed. Kidnapping is a fancy word. These guys are just damned robbers who steal as low as N500.
My suggestions: 1. Building military barracks all around the outskirts of aba. 2. Aerial policing at nights on outskirts of aba(especially the Aba-PH Expressway) which are usually the base of these robbers. 3. Call for surrender of arms
PoliticsRe: Ibos, The Greatest Blackmail You Can Make On GEJ Is To Ask For State Creation by excanny: 2:56pm On Sep 23, 2010
The geo-political zones that have more states than the SE, have they fared better? What i want to see in my life time is an igbo leadership of this country. I'll die happy that way, knowing that my people have e renewed sense of belonging. You can only imagine what a political vacuum of such a nature is doing to igbo psyche. When are we going to have the defining moment on this thread? Many of the authors here have pointed out why folks need to stay away from intertribal marriages. I think the only point that has continued to remain in the grey in all of these arguments is how an intertribal marriage spells disaster.

One thing i know is that as long as cultures are allowed to mix, the possibilities of the sparks of romance between the unlike kinds will and MUST continue to be ignited right under our very nose. So why try to swim against the current? It makes no sense because it's pure hardwork. No matter how ill we speak of it, it's not going to stop it from happening.

Personally, my stand on it changed from negative to positive, considering the fact that it's bound to happen and there's not much that anyone of us can do about it, as long we dont plan to restrict ourselves to our small villages.

you've obviously never met an osogbo man. Or any other yoruba men.

as far as I know, the yoruba group known for the highest monogamy rate in the southwest are the ijebus. And that assumption is based on certain premises, one of which is the couple are both ijebu.

second, you must have somehow magically impressed your partner's relatives?

ondo men [from ondo town], also have a somewhat relatively high rate of monogamy once they decide to settle down.
Did you just mentioned Osogbo and Ijebu? May i never met them. I know the types of Yorubas to hang around with and i've just told you.

Am laughing at those thinking IBB will voluntarily step down in 2015 for anyone to step in. They must not know the man called IBB. By 2015 some corrupt Igbo pressure group would start claiming that IBB has done more for Ndigbo than any Igbo man could do, hence IBB should continue in office. Hehehehehehe

Like Caretaker said, Zoning was designed to fail. PDP has long promised 2015 to South-South, now we are hearing that it is Igbo turn in 2015. Does anyone actually have the list of zones and which zone goes after which? Shebi the likes of Achike Udenwa picked up Presidential form in 2007? I thought 2007 was NW turn? The truth is that zoning never exisausa just insist on power. Some are even claiming thay NW should continue from 2015-2019 because YarAduas rule was truncated.

Nothing will please me more than IBB winning power, refusing to hand over in 2015, precipitating second civil war. Anything that quickens the process of disintegration is fine by me.

Ndigbo leadership is hurt after the civil war causing them to make some frazzled decisions such as supporting Abacha after June 12, now insisting on zoning for the promise of a cake in 2015. . . A cake which will never materialise.
I hope you are not alluding to the fact that Ndigbo will help you to initiative it, since you made this point immediately after talking about Ndigbo.

Ndigbo gave you the chance to liberate yourselves from this cesspit, but your people refused. Now if you want a disintegration, let your SS people start it.

If it is true to a large extent that Yoruba men are the most randy among all ethnic groups in Nigeria, why do you doubt my assertion that Osun men are more cultured, neat and responsible among the whole Yoruba race?. It is a tribal thing and like I said before, stay away from the Yoruba tribe known as Egba because their men have 3 left balls in their scrotum.
Aloy.emeka

You are on your own. No matter how old a gorrilla is, he will still be sleeping on a tree.

But on a more serious note, it's not the entire osun, it's the Ijeshas. They are a good breed of Yorubas, only i cant vouch for them when its has to do with women.

I have always feel Nigeria is a dysfunctional entity. Edwin Clarke does not draw my anger due to his political shenanigans but those who support his shameful political grandstanding. The worst culprits in support of the nonsensical nomenclature such Niger Delta are moronic individuals who hail from outside the region. Niger Delta is not exclusive entity of Ijo and Edwin Clarke should not arrogate the leadership of the region to himself. I shall not give a rat-asre if he is crowned the paramount leader of Ijo. He should stop parading himself as the leader of Niger Delta.
Ijaws only make up a fraction of the fictitious SS, talk less of the entire Niger Delta. At a time when politicians should be striving to be national leaders, the likes of Clark are busy playing local politics.

Igbo interests first and foremost. Every other thing is excess cargo.

Whether your ngwati folks like it or not, Ndigbos are on the track to reclaim all our enviable positions before the Civil War. The sooner you get used to it, the better.

Nah nah nah. I dont believe you. Be specific with proofs of such swagga and I'll give you scores of Igbo men wey such swagga dey over worry. Igbo men just have a different kind of swagga. You only need to do one thing- find out.

You guys used to be cool before this. If not that Ileke isn't yet convinced of how cool Igbo men are, i'll would have suggested that Ezeuche turns up his flirting skills. He will really teach you a lot you dont know about Igbo land. But first, you guys must stop fighting so we can find a foundation where things will can kick off from.

Urhobo and Isoko are mutually unintelligible, but have similar sound patterns and shared words. I have 2 colleagues at work who are fluent speakers of Isoko and Urhobo respectively, i asked them and they said they cannot understand each other. They only communicate in English.

Ileke-IdI:
Yea, I get what you're saying and I fully support the "be careful" warning.
My mom that has never been tribal before surprised me a few days ago. She advised me not to bring a non-yoruba man home [not that I intend to anywaz],esp Igbo men because of their hate for the Yoruba people. She said that nothing can separate an Igbo man from his mother, that even if the man loves his wife, the mother would control the marriage. At the end, the woman suffers the most.

In any inter-tribal marriage, the woman carries the burnt the most. The man has authority to protect his wife in their marriage [ell some men], and can let his family know that she's his closest kin.

My own lil advice, love aint even up to 10% of a marriage. If you can avoid it, plz avoid inter-tribal marriage.  cool cool
Ileke, this is not true. Igbos dont hate Yorubas. Forget the nairaland stuff. In the real world, it's more of the other way round. I'm telling you this based on actual experience as an Igbo kid who grew up in Yorubaland. If igbos hate the Yorubas that much, how then is it that they are more likely to give out their daughters in marriages to Yorubas? I remembered one of my Yoruba girlfriend i had in the past. The day i met with her family was the day i got a shock of my life on how Yorubas hate igbos. They scolded their daughter for falling in love with an omo ibo. I believe why it's like that is because an Igbo man/ Yoruba lady combination is rare, and people are not yet used to it and see it as wierd.

As a kid, i never remembered my parents telling me to stay away from people who are non-Igbo, but believe me, i've seen this many times, Yoruba parents teach their children to stay away from 'omo ibo'.

That is why i dont encourage Igbo women to marry Yorubas. The guy may be good, but you cant escape the 'omo ibo' subhuman treatment from his people and his likelihood of bringing in more wives in the future.
