It's not the first time. These kidnappers are notorious for killing soldiers by armbush. On a daily basis, you'll always find corpses of soldiers and police men on the ground. The soldiers should work hand in hand with a local who will guide them and they should be wary of possible armbush attacks lest I fear for their lives. At least, things are looking good. I'll only be disappointed if this operation is solely for the rescue of the 15 pupils, the army should not leave for the next 18 months. |
Onlytruth:Thank you, onlytruth Extra pure foolish talk. I dont know whats wrong with Igbo kids of these days. Way too much audacity. How dare you speak to elders like that? Even if they did something contrary to common wisdom, it should be pointed out with the utmost respect. I'm disappointed with the breed of Igbo kids we have these days. |
Death is the opposite of life. A state of non-existence. |
I'm not surprised at your ignorance. When you can't even spell a simple word as 'Igbo' correctly. Then how are you supposed to know that Aba is only a small part of Igbo land? Silly amala Yoruba! |
MaziUche0:Because no one make no sense by making generalisations. So how did you expect people to listen to you? |
The first step to restoring sanity in Aba is impeaching the governor and ensuring his removal. The kidnapping/armed robbery syndicate have consistently mentioned him as one of their problems( i suspect there's some unexplanable connection between the governor and these criminal ring). A subsequent call for surrender of arms and a peace treaty and rehabilitation of the misguided youths; something similar to what was done with the militants of SS. |
Ohakim should bury his head in shame. How dare him to shut out respected Igbo leaders-an ex-VP and ex-Senate President of the federal republic et al? An ordinary governor for that matter. This Ohakim has way too much audacity. He must make a public apology because he insulted not just these honorable men and women but the entire Igbo race. |
MaziUche0:You ought to be ashamed of yourself, rather than spewing rubbish. |
snowdrops:Are you serious? You are really funny. I had a face-to-face encounter with these monsters on my way back from Port Harcourt last week, the kinds of weapons and the audacity of these boys parade is something you should pray never to witness. An abomination is going on in Abia. A small group of misguided youths are giving everybody a bad name. PATHETIC! |
chyz:If Ohakim was truly involved in all of this, then this makes his second faux pas, having been linked to a previous shameful act of beating up a cleric. I'm really begining to lose the respect I have for him as the best performing SE governor. It's sad! |
Declaring a state of emergency in aba will not solve anything. What we have in aba is not a case of riots or violent killings, but of armed robbery and that is what must be addressed. Kidnapping is a fancy word. These guys are just damned robbers who steal as low as N500. My suggestions: 1. Building military barracks all around the outskirts of aba. 2. Aerial policing at nights on outskirts of aba(especially the Aba-PH Expressway) which are usually the base of these robbers. 3. Call for surrender of arms |
The geo-political zones that have more states than the SE, have they fared better? What i want to see in my life time is an igbo leadership of this country. I'll die happy that way, knowing that my people have e renewed sense of belonging. You can only imagine what a political vacuum of such a nature is doing to igbo psyche. No be every thing wey eye see, fingers dey type. I for tell una. |
When are we going to have the defining moment on this thread? Many of the authors here have pointed out why folks need to stay away from intertribal marriages. I think the only point that has continued to remain in the grey in all of these arguments is how an intertribal marriage spells disaster. One thing i know is that as long as cultures are allowed to mix, the possibilities of the sparks of romance between the unlike kinds will and MUST continue to be ignited right under our very nose. So why try to swim against the current? It makes no sense because it's pure hardwork. No matter how ill we speak of it, it's not going to stop it from happening. Personally, my stand on it changed from negative to positive, considering the fact that it's bound to happen and there's not much that anyone of us can do about it, as long we dont plan to restrict ourselves to our small villages. |

What we are saying is that all 'exotic' babes are more safer in the arms of an Igbo man. dig it? |
tpiah:Did you just mentioned Osogbo and Ijebu? May i never met them. I know the types of Yorubas to hang around with and i've just told you. |
Ibime:I hope you are not alluding to the fact that Ndigbo will help you to initiative it, since you made this point immediately after talking about Ndigbo. Ndigbo gave you the chance to liberate yourselves from this cesspit, but your people refused. Now if you want a disintegration, let your SS people start it. |
Aloy+Emeka:Aloy.emeka You are on your own. No matter how old a gorrilla is, he will still be sleeping on a tree. But on a more serious note, it's not the entire osun, it's the Ijeshas. They are a good breed of Yorubas, only i cant vouch for them when its has to do with women. |
Dede1:Ijaws only make up a fraction of the fictitious SS, talk less of the entire Niger Delta. At a time when politicians should be striving to be national leaders, the likes of Clark are busy playing local politics. |
Igbo interests first and foremost. Every other thing is excess cargo. Whether your ngwati folks like it or not, Ndigbos are on the track to reclaim all our enviable positions before the Civil War. The sooner you get used to it, the better. |
He was one man who believed in the unity of this country and proved himself to be a leader who was beyond regional or tribal affairs. |
An Igbo man always protects his woman with everything. If you find an Igbo couple with a new child, it's very common to see the man carrying the baby for his wife. How about that? |
^^^^ Interesting! i use to think that Igalas were found only in kogi state. |
Ileke-IdI:Nah nah nah. I dont believe you. Be specific with proofs of such swagga and I'll give you scores of Igbo men wey such swagga dey over worry. Igbo men just have a different kind of swagga. You only need to do one thing- find out. |
Ileke idi and Ezeuche You guys used to be cool before this. If not that Ileke isn't yet convinced of how cool Igbo men are, i'll would have suggested that Ezeuche turns up his flirting skills. He will really teach you a lot you dont know about Igbo land. But first, you guys must stop fighting so we can find a foundation where things will can kick off from. |
Only vipers and cobras are this aggressive. Quite unfortunate. |
tpiah:Then why are you always on Yoruba matters as if it were your ethnicity. Or are you also having an identity crisis? |
Urhobo and Isoko are mutually unintelligible, but have similar sound patterns and shared words. I have 2 colleagues at work who are fluent speakers of Isoko and Urhobo respectively, i asked them and they said they cannot understand each other. They only communicate in English. |
Ileke-IdI:. This is an 80% unavoidable fate in a Yoruba man's marriage. It's just the norm, except you are lucky. |
Ileke-IdI:Ileke, this is not true. Igbos dont hate Yorubas. Forget the nairaland stuff. In the real world, it's more of the other way round. I'm telling you this based on actual experience as an Igbo kid who grew up in Yorubaland. If igbos hate the Yorubas that much, how then is it that they are more likely to give out their daughters in marriages to Yorubas? I remembered one of my Yoruba girlfriend i had in the past. The day i met with her family was the day i got a shock of my life on how Yorubas hate igbos. They scolded their daughter for falling in love with an omo ibo. I believe why it's like that is because an Igbo man/ Yoruba lady combination is rare, and people are not yet used to it and see it as wierd. As a kid, i never remembered my parents telling me to stay away from people who are non-Igbo, but believe me, i've seen this many times, Yoruba parents teach their children to stay away from 'omo ibo'. That is why i dont encourage Igbo women to marry Yorubas. The guy may be good, but you cant escape the 'omo ibo' subhuman treatment from his people and his likelihood of bringing in more wives in the future. |
