RomanceMarried Man Defrauds Lady Of N450,000 After Fake Marriage Proposal by excellent2013(op): 6:06pm On Feb 07, 2017
A Lagos court has declared wanted a 45-year old man, Raphael Emmanson, for allegedly obtaining N450,000 from a lady, Miss Chinedu Chukwu, under the false pretense of marrying her and procuring visa for both of them to travel abroad as husband and wife.
According to the victim, the wanted man not only defrauded her of the said amount, he also made her lose her fiancé and a job with a pharmaceutical company before fleeing.
It was gathered that Chinedu suffered her fate after she met Emmanson at a park in Abuja where he pretended to be stranded and she decided to assist him.
Emmanson, who is from Okigwe in Imo State, deceived Chinedu by telling her that he came to Abuja to procure visa to travel abroad but was stranded and needed a place to sleep till the next day, when he purportedly had an appointment with an embassy.
She took pity on him and drove him to her house.
They soon became friends and after a while he ensured that she ended her relationship with her fiancé after he had promised her marriage and that both would travel abroad.
It was through that deceit that he managed to obtain the money from her to procure visa. After she gave him the money, the suspect bolted away and ran to Lagos.
After searching for him for several months, Emmanson was eventually arrested at his hideout in a hotel at Shasha area by the police. Upon his arrest, it was discovered that the suspect is married with two children.
He was later taken to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with obtaining under false pretense and stealing under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. J.O.E. Adeyemi granted him bail and remanded him in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
However, when he was released from custody, Emmanson ran away again and has not appeared in court to face trial.
Consequently, the court declared him wanted and ordered for his arrest while the matter was adjourned till March 27

This protest is long overdue. Hunger and hardship knows no party or tribe. We should all come out and protest against the hardship and bad governance in the land. #40 bread have become #150 within the time this government came into power. Is that not enough reason to protest? Has your #40k salary increased to #150k?
I campaign for Mr president but 3 month into his administration, i discovered apc as a party does not have a programme that will lift the masses. They ban importation of rice without any plan to grow our own, they keep on blaming the past govt, have u ever seen any athlete that is always looking back win any meda? This govt need to be woken up. They should know that this is how we were telling jonathan administration to change but they did not listen until they were booted out. I promised this govt your case is not going to be different. When it is time we will push you away with our thumb.
If I spent #12K to buy a bag of rice in 2015 and use #26K to buy same while my salary remain the same, should I clap for the govt

RomanceAvoid Having Sex, Drink Coffee To Live Longer by excellent2013(op): 4:25am On Jan 19, 2017
Desperate for a magical potion to help them live longer, many frantically try a range of new things in the belief it will give them an extra 10 years of life.
But now scientists believe they’ve found out exactly how you can extend your lifespan – but it won’t be an easy change for many. Refraining from having sex will help you live longer than all of your peers, a study has found. And experts believe it could explain why nuns – who stay away from the act completely – tend to live longer.
Researchers from the University of Sheffield discovered that mealworm beetles live for longer if they avoid mating. While those who tried to produce offspring each day passed away at a much younger age. Mating was found to release a hormone in the insects needed to produce sperm in a male or eggs in a female.
But this was also found to have a negative effect on their immune system, the researchers found. This makes them vulnerable to potentially deadly infections as their body’s natural ability to fight rogue bacteria is compromised.
Despite the mechanism not being the same in humans, study author Dr. Michael Siva-Jothey believes the principle can be applied.
He said: “Nuns tend to have a longer lifespan than women with children and most people know of someone with a maiden aunt who seems to live forever.
“The question is, why? The beetles which mate die sooner than the beetles which don’t mate.”
Humans also have weaker immune systems during sex, which explains how Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) can be easily spread, he added.
Nuns, priests, vicars and monks are known to live longer than others – but not for their religious protection.
It is believed their low rates of high blood pressure – which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke – are responsible.
Also, researchers have found that drinking coffee and tea may help people to live longer by reducing chemicals in the blood that can trigger heart disease.
The finding that coffee drinkers tend to live longer than people who abstain has long puzzled scientists.
Now researchers at Stanford University believe they may have hit on a reason why a having a coffee or tea break is so good for us.
The study was published in Nature Medicine.
Caffeine, the ingredient that gives coffee, tea and some fizzy drinks a lift blocks chemicals in our blood that promote inflammation.
Inflamed blood vessels are more likely to become stiffer – a risk factor for heart disease. Inflammation also plays a key role in many other diseases, the research study said.
Tests on the blood of people fewer of the chemicals linked to inflammation – were found to have more caffeine in their bloodstream. Further investigation revealed that they, as might be expected, drank more coffee than their peers.
A chemical found in chocolate, theobromine, was also found to have an anti-inflammatory effect, although not as pronounced as caffeine.
The authors found that in an ongoing study following participants aged 20-30, and another group of people aged 60, those who ‘tended to drink more caffeinated beverages’ had lower levels of inflammatory compounds in their blood.

So true. Life is a precious gift. A friend sent this to me

:
In some Nigerian hospitals, OXYGEN is administered at the rate of N4,500 per hour for adults and N3,000 per hour for children. Now, if adults were to be placed on oxygen for a whole day, the bill would be N108,000 - If this is extended to a month, the amount becomes N3.24 million - For one year, it will be N39.42 million - The next time u are tempted to think that God seems to be unkind to u, remember this: He gives each of us more than N3million monthly benefits of Oxygen without pay -GOD IS GOOD.
That u still have some needs yet to be fulfilled doesn't mean God doesn't care or is less interested in your affairs.
Let us give Him thanks for those "routine favours" He has been bestowing on us. #gratitude#
Romance5 Things To Be Thankful For If You Live In Nigeria by excellent2013(op): 5:05pm On Dec 17, 2016
It’s been a rough year for Nigeria. From the hike in the price of the dollar to increase in the cost of food and living, there have been a lot of reasons to feel discouraged about the giant of Africa. Many have become fixated on big-picture worries and so, take for granted all the little facets of life that deserve appreciation.

Believe it or not, Nigeria is still a pretty great place to live. And to bring a major boost to your overall happiness. Jumia Travel shares some things you can be grateful for if you live in Nigeria.

1 Jollof Rice

Nigerian jollof rice is probably one of the tastiest meals there is in the whole continent of Africa, especially when paired with grilled or fried chicken and plantains. Those who live in Nigeria have to be grateful for the meal, especially as you can get decent Jollof pretty much anywhere in Nigeria.

2 Better Access To The Internet

Despite the recession, the country has generally experienced better access to the internet as several companies providing internet services have emerged and network providers like MTN has even further reduced the cost of acquiring internet/data and so a lot more of the residents in Nigeria have access to the internet. Basically, almost anyone can now learn about anything that piques their interest without having to pay for training or visit a library to find a book or magazine about it.

3 Good Entertainment

From good music to fantastic Nollywood movies, when it comes to entertainment, Nigeria has good representation. You can hardly get bored in that aspect. Foreign artistes have done more collaboration with local Nigerian artistes as regards music and a lot of Nigerian movie directors and producers have invested more in movies to ensure they are of higher quality and can not only compete with movies from other parts of the world, but also gain accolade as well.

4 It is Much Easier to Find Love in Nigeria Now

Love is one of man’s core needs and no matter how much people try to refute the fact, they find it being the case. There are so many more places to meet people as well as avenues to meet them. More bars, restaurants and lounges crop up around the country each day, where residents can meet people. Again, online dating has made everything easier as there are more dating sites to meet Nigerians and even get to know them before actually taking them out and spending money on a date. Basically, dating in Nigeria is so much easier now.

5 Small And Free Pleasures Of Life

Nigeria is a beautiful country and has so many tourist attractions and peculiar environs to prove it. Residents get to enjoy several small and free pleasure of life, whether they are actually visiting some of these exotic sites or just having a regular day. From as little as watching the sunrise at Elegushi seaside to taking a relaxing walk at Agodi gardens, and swimming at Oguta Lake, there are so many pleasures within the reach of the residents

BusinessWe’ve Nothing To Do With AIMS Private Placements – SEC by excellent2013(op): 7:21pm On Dec 09, 2016
The Securities and Exchange Commission has said the private placements solicited and marketed by AIMS Asset Management Limited for two private companies – Petdrill Development Company Limited and Aims Assurance Company Limited – are not under its regulatory purview.

The regulator, in a note on its website, confirmed that it had received various complaints against AIMS Asset Management Limited that solicited and marketed the private placements.

The commission said while investigating the activities of AIMS Asset Management (a registered capital market operator), it observed that the private placements and the securities of the private companies “were not under the regulatory purview of the commission.”

In view of the above, SEC said, “The general public is hereby informed that the commission does not regulate private placements by private companies and therefore, the respective investors are advised to contact the said companies for their share certificates.”

Meanwhile, SEC said it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Moroccan counterpart, Autorite Marocaine Du Marche Des Capitaux.

The MoU, which was signed on the sidelines of the Nigerian- Moroccan bilateral talks marked with the visit of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, would serve as a platform for regulatory cooperation and information sharing between the two capital market regulators, it said.

This, according to SEC, is a first step towards achieving an effective cross border market policing between the two jurisdictions and enhanced market development through leveraging mutual comparative advantages.

The bilateral discussions covered a wide range of issues aimed towards deepening the mutual relationship between the two countries. These included agriculture, aviation, immigration, banking, capital markets and the extractive industries.

“It is interesting to note that as members of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions, which holds cooperation and integration as a cardinal objective, Nigeria and Morocco ordinarily have a platform to enter into bilateral agreements such as this as provided in the 38 IOSCO principles,” SEC said.

It added, “The involvement of the governments of both countries at the highest level is therefore a mark of the high premium placed on the importance of the capital market to the economic growth and prosperity of the two nations.”

BusinessCustoms Seizes Jollof Rice, Ogbono And Egusi Soup Imported From India by excellent2013(op): 6:18pm On Dec 05, 2016
Lagos – The Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a 20ft container of “READY TO EAT FOODS’’ like Egusi Soup, Jollof Rice, Ogbono, Yam Porridge imported from India.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bashar Yusuf, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Uche Ejesieme.

Yusuf spoke with stakeholders at the SDV/SCOA Terminal while handing over the container of imported prepared foods to officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The controller described the scenario as an “aberration”, considering the fact that government granted zero duty for the importation of machinery for the packaging of agricultural products.

“Why should indigenous menu be imported into the country at a time when investors are much sought after to boost local industries,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes Yusuf as saying.

The controller said the command generated 25.7 billion in November, up from N25.3 billion recorded in October.

Yusuf said that the higher revenue was recorded in spite of the recession and low imports.

He said that the command would continue to explore all avenues for maximum revenue collection.

According to him, this is in view of the exigencies of the moment, which placed more responsibilities on the service.

Yusuf urged potential investors to take advantage of the numerous export potential in the country for their socio-economic benefits.

In a related development, while briefing a group of senior officers undergoing training in the command, the controller admonished them to make professionalism, integrity and transparency as their watchword.

He also urged the officers to ensure effective leadership and supervision in carrying out their duties.

Yusuf said the various trade facilitation tools as provided in the automation of Customs procedures would guide the officers in the discharge of their functions.

The controller told the officers to see training and re-training as a veritable tools that would sharpen their knowledge toward achieving desired results.

He appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Retired Col. Hameed Ali, for effectively re-positioning the service in spite of global recession.

“NCS is still working tirelessly to remain on top of its statutory mandate,’’ the controller said.

Yusuf said that this could not have been possible if not for the pragmatic leadership of the comptroller-general and his management.

“In this era and dispensation, officers are expected to be above board with deep sense of commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their functions.

“The Change ideology of the comptroller -general must be given priority attention,’’ the controller said.

He, however, warned that anybody that fails to key into the new order would be seriously sanctioned.
