Crime › Re: Four Killed, 50 Injured, 20 Vehicles Destroyed As Hoodlums Clash In Lagos by executinal(m): 3:04pm On Feb 29, 2012
eyezgal:
Hell was let loose in Ejigbo and Mafoluku areas of Lagos State yesterday, as street urchins popularly called ‘Area Boys’ unleashed violence.

In the melee, four persons were feared killed and over 50 people injured. About 20 vehicles were vandalized during the clash by the factional gangs, who were fighting over toll collection at a plank bridge linking Ajao Estate with Ejigbo area of the state.

Over100 houses were also raided by the hoodlums during the free-for-all as they cashed in on the crisis to rob residents of the areas.
Lagos has recorded an upsurge of gang clashes in recent times, which had claimed about 50 lives. Affected areas include Lagos Island, Palmgrove, Iyana Ipaja and Obalende.

Trouble started on Monday night when a member of a faction of the street urchins, who was collecting N10 toll from pedestrians crossing from Ajao Estate to Ejigbo, had a disagreement with an Igbo man simply identified as Chukwuma.
Chukwuma was said to have given the Area boy N1, 000 note and was asked to come back to collect his balance of N990.

He was, however denied of his balance on his return, a development that made him raise the alarm.
His alarm was said to have attracted members of other faction of the Area boys, who claimed that it was their right to collect the toll. In the process, they engaged the other faction in a serious argument.
But angered by the action of Chukwuma, a member of the faction that was owing him N990 hit him with an object, which made him to slump and died instantly.

It was at this point that the two factions engaged themselves in a serious fight that later led to the death of one of them simply identified as Jamiu. Many others were said to have been injured.
The faction that lost Jamiu later regrouped and stormed the Mafoluku area for a reprisal attack at the wee hour of yesterday.

However, members of the opposing gang were said to have anticipated the reprisal and engaged their attackers, which led to the loss of another three lives.
Residents said dangerous weapons like guns, machetes, broken bottles and cudgels were freely used by the hoodlums. At the end of the clash, 20 vehicles were vandalized with over 100 houses raided by the hoodlums.
As at Press time, many residents of the areas have fled their homes for fear of fresh attack.
Few residents, who spoke with Daily Sun on condition of anonymity, pleaded with the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali and Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) to come to their aid as they were not sure of what would happen next.

A resident, who simply identified himself as Kabiru, appealed to the state government to sack the hoodlums from the pedestrian bridge, saying they have made life miserable to the people of the two areas.
Kabiru, who claimed he received a machete cut for refusing to open the door of his house to the hoodlums, who were making house-to-house raid, wondered why the police did not respond on time during the attack.
Police spokesman in the state, Mr. Jaiyeoba Joseph, confirmed the incident, but said only one person was killed. He said the police were on top of the situation as the areas have been taken over, urging residents to remain calm as the situation is under control.

Beaf:
This is an absolutely stup!d comment from Sanni. First of all, we are in a period where the President has just returned from his home state of Bayelsa which is terribly polluted as a result of the Chevron offshore rig accident in January. Is it Sanni's state that is suffering?

No we don't work hard. Such things have come into being by miracle. What a parasitic arsehole! angry
At the time the ND people were putting their stock in education, the core-Northern elite was putting theirs in parasitism and the enslavement of their masses through all manners of deprivations; from education, to health, to development. Today, while the core-North whose elite own 80% of indigenous oil fields is wallowing in abject poverty and is one of strongholds of polio (eradicated in even the poorest countries); the ND can lay claim to strong ownership of the nations banks and media. Its through education and values, sir.

Why does the man sound so jealous? The core-Northern elite own the oil industry, but the best they have done is build houses with gold plated walls, fenced off from the hoards of unwashed whose suffering they have caused. Is the ND person the cause of 10 phucking million almajiri's? 10 million?!! huh

Somebody should tell Sanni that while his people were busy killing us and rap!ng our women (even the old ones), we were busy building. While his type were manufacturing almajiri's and calling us lazy ogogoro drinkers, we were busy amassing. It ain't luck, its work. cool

Now, we demand a 100% ownership of every last oil well on land and sea. And we will get it, because we are educated, sophisticated, and know how to go about our stuff.
no , I dont mean that. Each state collect 13% for all transaction in their state. the oil state will still get 13% but not as derivation but now as state taxes directly from the companies. Not through any federal govt agency or taxes agency.

one of the  reason for boko haram is because Abuja collect taxes, and people in maiduguri cant see where the money is going. If Kano state or borno state collect its taxes directly it stop this. There is nothing like double taxation in this. Less than 1% of nigeria move from Kano state to Borno each month. I watch the federal taxes agency lady on television claiming it is because of double taxes that why federal collect taxes.

There is nothing like double taxation in nigeria when really less than 1% of the people move from one state to another in a month. 99% live and work in their state. So the federal govt using that is wrong.  If personal taxes is collected by state it will bring develop to most northern state. and it will be uniform development.

You see the problem with northern leadership is because most of them are not well educated or well expose if they have education.  Now they all mostly refuse to support removing power from abuja. But how many of them is from abuja. While because of the bribe and contract in abuja. Their own people in their state of Origin like Borno, kano, sokoto etc are suffering just because they want abuja to collect everything.

They think they are smart. but the north have rule nigeria for over 40 years. They can see, that powerful abuja have not brought development to them. And will never bring development to borno state or kano state or sokoto or zamfara. But if they are the one collecting their taxes , electricity bill and other. Even if their politician steal the money. the money will not leave their state of origin.    in abuja, their money will be carried to imo state.

This is how it is done in most part of them world.   Now on satellite pictures. I have said over and over just remove western niger. And look boko haram will not go away except you remove a portion. as long as the north continue to see the satellite pictures. they will continue to destroy people. They are egg head. Even if we have to share our resource in western niger. I know we can. But the removal is the one way to stop it.
Musiwa stop taking drug, it adds nothing but destruction, can't you just write without reference to satellite pictur? angry angry angry
