Mpeace:My brother! I actually feel lucky i won't lie. As if I knew, i'd transferred the little cash I had just a couple of days before their suspension. The stocks in my portfolio (UBA & UCAP) are likely to outperform the market in the short term hence my relative peace of mind. Na those people who were hoping to JIJO with now badly performing stocks I pity the most. Imagine watching a price crash way beyond your entry point and you can't do anything. I guess it's all part of an experience. Thanks for your concern. EDIT: By the way I do appreciate the iron hand being used by the SEC on these brokers if not some of them for don take customer eye see winsh, all the same, no one wants to be caught in the middle like grass underneath two fighting elephants. |
Please who has any idea on the time frame it might take to move a portfolio from one broker to another? Thanks $$$ |
bigass:Noticed. You can go to bed now. |
kentoto:If I may Sir, UBA: until it crosses 4.35 I'll not say it's going up. It's still within it's yield limit Dangflour: Has released a rather good FY 2015 result - coming from a loss position and they have a history of paying dividend, though I don't think the yield is that much so it's normal for there to be some increase in the stock price. FBNH: I'm not sure why anybody will be positioning for dividend in FBNH, when Zenith and UBA are on ground (GTB is over priced for dividend in my humble opinion). I said it when their result came out that paying good dividend now will not be their major priority for obvious reasons and they later confirmed it in their conference call. So.. |
maishai: PharmAlfred:Bros thanks for understanding what some people are going through unlike some that are acting as if people complaining don't have better things to do. Imagine someone saying 'people should quit whining about Morgan'. I just choose to ignore the statement. My luck is that i exited all 'try your luck stocks' and entered solid ones based on Q3, if not by now I'll be crying. Even at that there are some stocks one needs to take position in but no way. It's well, My God pass them. |
UBA & Zenith Banks $$$ |
feelamong: How did they do it? Their FX losses went drastically down q-o-q. Really good result. |
The FMCG sector has really been dealt a bad blow by this FX issue, even Dangflour that had returned to profitability may slide back into loss if care is not taken. Sad. But make their prices fall sha... The universe must re-align forces for our good...hehehe... |

I've been expecting good result from FCMB but since the delay i no come know again... however the way these my broses are putting it, e dey do me like say make i put my rent money inside ...lol... Anyway we dey observe |
feelamong: locodemy:I've always had FCMB on my radar because of their willingness to pay good dividend (i was impressed this year) and their high net fx asset which is supposed to mitigate any loan impairment disaster, but this one wey una dey talk so dey surprise me o...Are you saying I should go and find money any which way and invest there abi na monkey una dey hunt? ![]() @Loco I did't see any FCMB subsidiary in their Q2 report o, or is it a foreign investment? |

Diamond and Access bank results came out as we had earlier expected though Access was able to recover it's form quite well with increased interest, Fee & Commission and Financial assets trading income? Access is reporting almost N100B income from futures and swaps Also I noticed FBNH and Access are reporting astronomical increases in their Fee and Commission income from e-channels. Access claims card transactions increased considerably which i find quite odd... At this point I'm wondering what's keeping FCMB if it has a good result. |
stokfrick:Thank you very much, I was wondering on which to pick between Lead and Meristem. This is very timely info. Now it remains that of CSL and Vetiva. One has to be a little more thorough this time before switching brokers |
currentprice:Bros no wahala, oya borrow me only 250k, make I add complete my rent money and contribution to my bro wedding... As i no get any cash balance with them, as soon as they comeback, I'll sell a few stocks and pay back ![]() This delay by Morgan is a costly one any how we choose to look at it |
davide470:Yep, it's basically the same thing I'm saying... |
Of course every opinion is highly respected but I don't think FCMB is worse than FBNH. Seriously. Though it would be wise to wait till FCMB Q3 is released before commenting further. For me FBNH was the biggest mistake I made this year. Huge mistake. No need saying how much I lost there because of stubbornness. After loosing an amount more than the annual salary of maybe an entry level bank staff, I finally gave myself brain, and sold what was left. That was around August. It was then I realised that this year is not FBNH's year at all. Maybe after 1st QTR results next year...Maybe... As bad as last year was, it's NPL is still rising this year by over 100% as at 3rd QTR! Thankfully it was able to make up with FX and fee and commission income if not...Although FCMB also has rising NPL which is why I said I'd rather wait till their QTR 3 is out before commenting but at least their Q2 results showed much higher PAT and EPS y-o-y...Unlike FBNH which declined y-o-y Also right now paying good dividend is not their priority. Unlike FCMB that's likely to maintain a div yield of >=10%, FBNH is not likely to exceed 7% (i.e. at a SP above N3). Most of my portfolio had been in FBNH earlier in the year so I no enjoy dividend at all this year Even analysts forecasts for both of them favours FCMB more than FBNH... FCMB SP also has more potential upside...For me o, for the next 3 to 6 months, FCMB >> FBNH Except maybe the price of FBNH fall below N2.50 or less sef...But hey I'm just a newbie so... |
Rexceedo:In fact my mind is almost settled on Meristem. Maybe by Friday I'll open an account there. Morgan, if they are serious can still make up even with their small commission |
Intendy:lol. |
Intendy: But seriously I liked their business model especially being that they were the first to start live trade. Add that to a very low rate of commission, they had something very good going. But at the end of the day, good customer service and sound fiscal discipline is what sustains a business not good ideas...I hope they adjust early enough though something tells me they may increase their commission soon |
Intendy:Lol....Abeg put my name for top lover biko. Thats my true area of strength. |
Godisfaithful: Tor, I been talk am o |
Godisfaithful:Thanks boss! I've checked out Meristem and I'm quite impressed so I'll give the rest a call and compare |
feelamong:Yeah, I quite agree. The only question now is how low will the price fall? Some are saying N2 which I seriously doubt. Anyway we will see |
Mpeace:After their Oga passed on, I started being apprehensive of this kind of scenario and wanted to move my portfolio. But some broses on this forum said there's nothing to worry about. As a newbie i calmed down. Now I'm regretting it. The only luck one has is that I have no free cash sitting with them, as everything is invested. So na just to move my entire portfolio go another broker if their own too much. |
fxuser: ![]() Afriprud is reacting accordingly to the Nigerian economy. This is why I have a bit of faith in UCAP. Even without the sale of their interest in an investee (the insurance firm) that they carried out in second qtr, their result was still better than last year. But then again their (i.e. Afriprud's) cash flow says they have spent a considerable amount of money investing in financial assets this year so maybe the assets have not done as well as expected or their returns are expected from next year (so better result next year) - I saw some govt bonds there maturing in 2017 on the reports. But there was a little increase in revenue from their supposed primary business source which is registrar's fee. |
OBAGADAFFI:Hmmm...Thanks boss |
OBAGADAFFI:Exactly, Thanks bros. But what's their total charge %, i.e. buy and sell? For some inexplicable reason both my phones are down and I can't place calls to the brokers. But I just got of a live chat with Meristem and I called them earlier in the week. They seem to have a responsive customer service. Total buy and sell commission is 3.75%. I went from I-One to Morgan now I may go to Meristem except I find another broker at that level of efficiency and with lesser commision |
Ogas in the house abeg how many stock brokers have like the itrade platform, where you have direct access to the market and you can live trade, i.e. real time (unlike Investment-One's Easytrade which the broker still has to input for you). If you can list them and their commission if you know it, i'd be grateful. This is why I didn't want to make the switch to Morgan earlier. My years in employment has taught me that nothing beats reliable and customer friendly service. Nothing. Thanks |
Godisfaithful:My brother I couldn't agree more even though we've all been praying this isn't the case. The writing is on the wall for any one to read. But there are still a very select few though that could perform in the midst of the prolonged down slide. So that's where our gaze is now. Na me carry my mumu self go tie my money down in UCAP else by the end of this month one would be cherry picking some of those select few. It's well |
sky2891:Sir we term that a VERY good result. Any news? |

na joke oh!
