Manonamission:Bros no vex o, you know say I be novice but the figure I have for Q1 2016 is c.N20B. Also the guy whose statement I quoted said PAT not PBT. Maybe we need more clarification on the results. I stand corrected but if with all the economic recession and headwinds the banks are currently facing, a bank like FBNH - that some people were even thinking will not make it after a disastrous FY 2015 - is posting N32B PAT, then except the poster made some mistake, that comes across as very good. So with a Q1 of N20B, I can understand why a H1 (not Q2 mind you) of N32B would be a disappointment. But if its a Q2 (not H1 mind you) of N32B, then that is definitely a good result. Anyway can you kindly recheck the figure you quoted for Q1 2016, I may have been wrong. |
zendi:Is this about FBNH? I'm not sure what those analyst want but I think considering the state of the economy and where they are coming from (near loss due to NPLs), N32B seems very good. It's like most people don't understand what banks are facing currently. |
Abegi O, who upset UCAP, make una help me beg am o, please. I was just joking when I said it won't rise much further. Abeg |
Mfunkynation:Based on my own study of the share price ALONE in relation to it's fundamentals (which are ridiculously strong) I think that the price of UCAP may have topped out (at N2.65) for the short term. A good Q2 result is not likely to produce any other exceptional bull as people already knew since almost 2 months ago that their Q2 would be very good. The only game changer would be payment of dividend, which is a 50:50 thing really. You may hang in there or look for some other stock cos any interim bear that hits the market as a whole this period will affect it just like any other good stock. Just my thoughts, which I have held since last week. |
''...Everything that kills me makes me feel alive...make that money, watch it burn...la la la...'' That's the summary of trading this week. ![]() |
mercylicious:Ok it's understood. Thanks |
Kashif:Yeah it was at the maximum limit price, but I thought that when proper trading starts, with such a huge bid/offer ratio it will break the 5% limit since the overall ceiling is 10%? |
cadno:I'm not sure what you mean but this market na real the more you look the less you see. FBNH was on almost full bid right from start of trade this morning! Bid was at 22M+ while offer was a mere 400k+ yet the price no cross 3.99. I placed a trade at 4.1 and it wasn't placed in the market. So except like 21M out of the 22M bids were by one person who placed limit price of less than or equal to 3.99, i really don't get why there wasn't a further increase in trading price. |
abimcdssi:Well Sir, Investopedia is a repository of knowledge. At least 70% of your questions will be answered there. Secondly this NSEMPA thread is a must for someone willing to learn too. It's not always about JIJO, as this thread has good news and insights (and for this, God bless all the gurus in the house). Lastly, experience will fill the most crucial and critical gap, for nothing good comes easy. Cheers |
Intendy:Thank you Sir! ![]() |
A little word of advice to newbies on this thread. Most people here post or talk a lot about their gains and not so much about their loses. In my own very little experience, slow and steady is a very good strategy for this game especially if you're a rookie. In fact it's just as good if you're accomplished. As the saying goes, even a blind pig would occasionally find some truffle, so when you make 30% on a trade you smartly entered without DD or because some fella on here whom you respect was screaming buy! buy!! buy!!! You'd soon lose it all or even more. N.B: Don't read this now and say 'ah! EXLaidback is a guru, let me send him an inbox'. Nothing I've said above is new, I'm just a learner o. Study to show yourself approved! By the way, hope I haven't dampened anyone's spirit because there's still money to be made this year. |
cadno:Na me, i shout for am with loud voice say Make e better wait first for FBNH, na so e take run back Any problem ![]() $$$ |
ExLaidback:Hello People, This is not a big deal. I made the above comment two days ago but I've thought about it some more now and realize I may have been wrong. If FX rate is expected to start very high (as much as N370/$) early next week and undulate till it finally settles close to N250/$ some weeks later (according to CBN), then the following trend is rather more likely:- FPIs should actually prefer to rush in while the Naira is at it's most depreciated level (probably early next week) and then come out when it has appreciated significantly to around that N250 range. Without a gain or loss in their investments they stand to make an increase of at least 350/250 = 40%. This provides a form of hedge because if even they invest and make a loss, to an extent they can still come out with some profit, IF the Naira appreciates later. So maybe we should expect FPI early next week. This is not so straightforward obviously as there'd be counter-balancing forces from pent-up local dollar demand and all that. Anyway it's just a thought. |
I'm thinking Foreign Investors may not respond positively to this free float immediately (tomorrow tomorrow). They may want to see the market settle first as initialy we may have wide variance due to pent up demand. This is in turn could translate to about a week or more of bi-directional movement in the NSEASI before a more definite upward trend for a while. Abi? $$$ |
fxuser:No mind those yeye people |

Coolcash1: Dump? My Continsure is green o. I have tajere units there. Wished I bought more earlier. By the way I no be madam o, I be small bro. People think the stock is illiquid. On this I beg to differ, it just depends on a lot of factors. But at the end shey everybody suppose do their DD ni? |
I'm thinking if the bears hit the market then one of the stocks to watch for a short term bull (OR dividend if you're an income investor) is CONTINSURE. That's if the bears hit the market this next week and onward. $$$ |
forbes30:On FT the median estimate of most analysts on FBNH is around the current price so there's a lot of caution been exercised regards trading on it (considering NPL and perceived devaluation impact). Personally I believe FBNH's time has not fully come. This bull run is just warm up. If it performs consistently well till 3RD QTR 2016 and there's a marked improvement in results, Usain Bolt fit no catch am then. In fact there's no reason why FBNH shouldn't touch N7 before the end of 4th QTR 2016. However analysts and all have been proven wrong a number of times when unforeseen circumstances come suddenly into play. N.B: Looking back now I believe they foresaw this dismal FY2015 performance that's why they paid a paltry 10k div for FY2014. ![]() |
gift01:Bro, if you had to come here to ask this question about your uncle's money, you definitely should allow him invest with the insurance firm with assured returns. Just a candid advice. |
forbes30:LMAOOOO. ![]() I wish. But we are heading there |
Meanwhile I can see a lot of effort by some strong men to drag down FBNH. Una no reach o, you hear? If you missed that bus take heart and wait for the next. ![]() You see in this NSE there's just so much to learn and we are learning every day. Like one author said, you learn more when you lose than when you're always winning. I've lost some significant amounts of money in this NSE over time and what I can say today is this:- The market is not for those who are driven by every wind of doctrine (rules or news) and who panic too easily. Except you're just here to gamble. Be brutally sincere with yourself, learn what you need and make your decisions. Don't take things personally but learn from them. You see if every time I was in a losing position I jumped out and cut my loses, by now one of two things would have happened. Either I'd have lost ALL of my money or I for don take the small one wey remain run comot for NSE for good. Never to look back. But we all know you don't learn by running way from challenges. I've read good authors that advocate the 'no average down' or 'cut your loses and run' when in an unexpected losing position policy. From experience, I beg to disagree. It's a case by case basis. Slow and steady is a good policy AS LONG AS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING HAVING CARRIED OUT SOME DUE DILLIGENCE. We are learning. Cheers everybody. |
megainvest: This Bro, your posts dey make me laugh. |
bolabiyi:Actually my good madam, another (almost inevitable) quarter of GDP contraction and we'd officially be in a recession. |
magabounce:Wow congrats man. You see now, your story is quite inspiring. I know Abuja quite well and the stress involved in that commute. I'm also seriously considering leaving my place so you can imagine my interest in your story. Congrats and best of luck! |
Mfunkynation:I'm a very very Senior Pastor so I can't do that. ![]() On a serious note, look at the facts behind what I've stated, its a no-brainer. Facts and figures are well stated. Some people will thank me later for this but Do your DD. |
. |
BMZK:Err..I'm sorry, can't say an amen to that right now... ![]() Intendy:Yeah I know, maybe its the way I wrote it, cos I'm referring to the FY 2015 dividend. |
Guys looking for interim dividends why not go for CONTINSURE instead. Take position now and avoid the rush later. They are yet to pay 2015 dividend (qualification date is sometime in mid July) and at the current price you may still get a yield of 11.65%. Infact at N1.10k you're still assured of 10.9%. The best yield you can get on any interim dividend anywhere can hardly exceed 5%. Do your DD, but still jump in. ![]() Haters will read this post and call it Monkey Hunting ![]() |
forbes30:Yes! Just doing some basic research and gathering data right now anyway. Y'know, you don't want to re-invent the wheel. |
Personally, I don't find posts like this very useful. You should give us some background. What do you do? Why did you leave? What did you engage in between jobs? What did you learn through the experience? etc Add value to people's life jare. Even in church if you are giving testimony you're allowed to give some detail for proper context talk less of an educative/informative online forum. $$$ |

By the way, hope I haven't dampened anyone's spirit because there's still money to be made this year.
Any problem
