Edit: in fact First Registrars is the reason why I buy FBNH shares for dividend, cos I know I'll get it without sweat or issues. Even if I don't own any FBNH shares for over a year, whenever one buys, without re-filling any e-mandate you get credited.

Veritas and DataMax did the same for when when I bought back my GT and Zenith share this year.
Frankly with e-dividend, all registrars should be operating at this level by now, except for the archaic/unserious ones.

Veritas registrar of zenith is very efficient and they dont make such mistake. It has been proved that First Registrars is known to make this mistake.
Yeah I agree, Veritas is quite efficient and very unlikely to do such but First Registrars too in my little experience with them have proven very efficient and I'll be surprised if they do that.

People that are expecting Tony's dividend next week, hope we know it's only UBA that's paying.

UCAP and Afriprud are pretending as if they have never heard of AGM by proxy. So they're not paying except I missed a memo or notification, if so someone should please enlighten me. So people don't go and wait in vain then now start another insult/fight lasting several threads when alert no show.

Just a PSA.

For those of you who are interested in buying stocks for dividends, pls kindly follow this directions I will show you in order not to miss your dividend.some people sold their stock on the qualifying date and still get the dividend while some bought a stock on the qualifying date and miss the dividend.

kindly note that it takes T+3 for any purchased stock to settle on the registrars record book.If a company declares 10kobo dividend and give a qualifying date lets say 10th April and markdown date 11th April. If you truely need the dividend, you will need to buy the cpmpany shares on or before 7th April for your name to reclect on the registrars record on the 10th April.

Dont buy a stock on the qualifying date and hope for dividend. You will not get instead the perspn who sold his stock on the qualifying date will get the dividend.

pls be guided accordingnly.
Normally I'd read and move on especially since this matter has been overflogged on this forum.

Bro, this is false. In this age of digitalisation it doesn't even make sense.

I had several shares of ZIB which I sold all but a few in tranches. The last sold batch was on qualifying day of March 9th. I only got div for what was left in my account as at March 9th. Didn't get shishi for the ones I sold that day. Wasn't expecting to anyway.

Any broker telling you this should be challenged. Except a registrar is just being lazy or they still employ some analogue methods which I doubt, this should never be the case.

I greet you Sir.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ExLaidback:
Good Evening All!

I've been away from the bourse for close to 2 years (life things) and just came back this January. Observed so many things have happened since then and many changes.

Normally prefer to observe from the sidelines while doing my trades - helps serve as a filter. However about WAPCO, there are a few of things and a note of caution.

1. Their EPS.
Though their 2019 results up to Q3 has been very good, the rights issue increased their OS from 5.57B to about 8.6B i.e. over 50% increase so EPS as at Q3 is 128k. Several times lower than previous years.

2. Their 5 year Div yield and Div/EPS history.
Div yield has never exceeded 5% and Div/EPS never exceeded 52%. Going by that trend, say they are able to improve upon Q3 PAT & EPS by 30%, which is very ambitious, then EPS comes to about 166 and PAT to over 26B, expected Div should be about 70k. That's going by antecedents o.

3. Their new management.
They seem to be quite more prudent than previous years.

However
1. They've been known to pay Div from retained earnings, in 2018 (thank God also for the reviewed EDT law from the new Finance Bill).

2a. There's also proceeds from sale of the South African arm. I'm not an accountant, don't know if they can pay dividends from it?

2b. They may want to compensate shareholders for not paying div last financial year and pay div from retained earnings again or even pay a Div/EPS of say >80%

3. There seems to be lots of sentiments around the stock.

Still these are just speculations. The figures say div may not be as usual and enough to sustain the price above about N16 especially in the long term. So it's previous trading price range may not be attainable. It's currently N17+.

Just my thoughts o. Sure the stock price still has ways to go up in the immediate short term at least.

You’ll report them to SEC but before you send an email go one more time to the reg let them show you prove of UBA dividend collected by you (they have records for every dividend paid) and if they can’t prove you collected such dividend, right there tell them you’ll be reporting them to SEC I bet you they’ll release your money sharp sharp..
I've already tried to explain that to them, asking them to show me how and when I collected the said dividend, instead they said I should write a protest letter. Which one be protest letter?

Thanks I'll just send mail to SEC but I want an effective communication channel with SEC, so it's not come today, come tomorrow.

Knowledgeable people in the house please help a brother...

Afriprudential Reg has been owing me my UCAP dividend since last year, April 2017. After waiting for the cheque for like 3 to 4 months, I went to their office and they requested that I mandate my account for e-dividend. However their requirements were too much for my busy schedule at the time so I just left it. This year I went back and did the e-mandate only for them to be telling me that a caution was placed on my account because -a according to them - I collected a UBA dividend in September of 2016 that I wasn't due for. Bros I've checked all my records and there was no such dividend collected by cheque or e-mandate. I got back to them with this but their response has been very unhelpful.

So my challenge now is who to report to (NSE or SEC) and how to reach them? Please any one who knows how the process works for seeking redress with regards to an erring registrar should help. I'm also considering having a lawyer write to them but the amount is not that much.

Thanks.

saintjoel:
There's no country that importers pay import duties without agents. The only issue we have is just because the entire system is corrupt and government has been using it as an avenue to exploit Nigerians for years but I learnt that our duty is still okay compared to some other countries. I've clients from Ghana and Cameroon that sometimes call us to process Nigerian duty and plate numbers for their vehicles and the drive with Ecowas driver's licenses,,people even come from Republic of Benin. Our systems is just filled with loopholes and even we as agents bear the brunt because people believe we're rolling in money just because we're agents.
Bro I've read all your posts and I'm quite impressed and informed with the amount of information passed and the clarity and maturity with which you've done so. But kindly do me a favour and post the customs valuation $ costs for Lexus, Mercedes, Hyundai and Kia brand of cars from say 2007 to 2014. The one you posted is just for Camry and Honda (though they were kind of blurred).

Thanks

From experience with CDMA coys, Banks don't have that expertise.

But nobody can tell me ETISALAT or Telecoms companies don't make profits, most of their incomes are usually diverted .

Ernest Ndukwe tried enforcing corporate governance when he was the NCC EVC.

The same man is a director in Access Bank. Ironic

http://www.accessbankplc.com/pages/about-us/board/Dr-Ernest-Ndukwe,-OFR.aspx
Well I can't say why but I can tell you for SURE that Etisalat posted losses for the last 3 or 4 consecutive years. It's privately owned so these figures are not in the public domain. The troubling thing however is that the losses were increasing considerably y-o-y. If the losses were coming down, it would have made a lil more sense to me cos there's a period required to break even after a business starts...Anyway that's it
