yeah it should matter, unless they've shortlisted everyone. They can send the invite at different times. What is the time for those who received for wellsite geologist and drilling? as well as reservoir?

Don't know much about the professional process but it can take several weeks for the interviews to be okay'd by recruiting managers due to schedule and other things. All very subjective, they can have a candidate that they want who will accept offer elsewhere and they'll have to talk to the people still in the recruitment pool

Total recruitment is usually more than 3 months from time of application, I don't expect that there will be any progress in less time than that

Sorry to hear. It happened in a number of states for PhD where the 4th and maybe 6th were considered above the rest. PTDF is very competitive and grace is also needed

My addition to this is i was the first ranked candidate for my state in the interview list for UK. I did not get the scholarship, but the second and third ranked candidates in my state in the interview list got the award. However someone far down on the list also got it, making them three in total.

Then how come someone who submitted application last is ranked at the top of their state. CGPA is not the only thing the application asks for. It asks for your WAEC grades - the specific A1 or B2 or B3. It also asks for class of degree e.g 1st class is 30 points, 2'1 is 24 points 2'2 is 18 points. A1 is 6 points, B2. is 5 points. All those are numbers that are fed into the system for shortlisting. Or do you think PTDF would scroll through 20,000 applications to shortlist 8000? they'll use computer software to do the separation

I disagreed . it could be timing of submitting application. what parameter of ranking thousands, CGPA is only parameter on application the field to filter or ranking .

In programming there has to be an order. So the first thing I checked was if it was arranged by either surname/first name/middle name and registration number. Upon validation of the data, it was clear that it wasn't alphabetical name order or serial number order.

Taking the data set and validating it with other sources e.g Linkedin/Newspaper articles/things you can find on the internet for a number of states, the hypothesis was confirmed true that candidates were ranked based on their 'profile strength' per state

Thanks for this. If we can see, one of those who won the scholarship already sat ontop of the list for their state, they were already technically the best without interview component. It showed they also did well in interview because if they didn't do well in the interview, the ranking would have changed if others did better than them

Those numbers don't exist in any ptdf list for Imo PhD (interview and award). All the winners in Imo are on the interview list. The first 2 on UK list got it and the first person on GFM and 3rd to last got it. So what else are you saying?
Seems your mind is made up to believe what you want. As for your earlier quote, I'm still an UG from the South East and I know my profile is already competitive for ptdf oss if I were to apply. That doesn't mean there might not/won't be people with better profiles than mine. Just 4 people got in and they're over 50 on the interview list for Imo. Let's be realistic with our expectations abeg. There are other less competitive and anxiety inducing scholarships out there. Find them and move on.

same , can't place my hand on exactly what went wrong but another thing is also course of study and a bit of luck also if for example they wanted to choose top 5 in petroleum engineering and u came 6th in petroleum engineering but first in ur state i believe there is a high chance ur slot goes to the next highest non petroleum course till they balance up a bit and i think there is also now 1 automatic slot for the highest performing female in each state if i recall correctly....a lot of factors are considered..when i was applying i knew fgm would likely favour more than uk if am being honest but the thing is FGM doesn't appeal to me that much if am being honest. so I just decided to stick with UK, I put in for msc elect elect, from abia

You made wrong assumptions for the ATAS in your video. The ATAS is dependent on the type of course, and not on the level of the course. Courses where the knowledge could be applied to build weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) are those that require ATAS so courses like Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, certain biosciences such as microbiology and other related courses usually require ATAS. Ofcourse courses like Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering etc don't require ATAS

PhD Interview experience of a mentee (Virtual)

Mentee was greeted by two panelists who are industry experts and previous PTDF Scholars.

After greetings, they alluded that the profile was strong - Profile is indeed strong 7A1s first class bachelors and distinction in masters, 5 professional memberships and 2 publications.

The interviewers seemed impressed with the proposal presentation and recommended focus areas in the research about increasing production efficiency and wished candidate the best of luck.

I have ATAS. Mine took 10 working days because I applied in June maybe. There is usually delays in August and April due to more applicants. Apply now and before the 2nd week of September you will get it. Hope you have your CAS too?
