yes research was very relevant and they agreed with the 3 objectives listed - however advised to focus on 1 objective so that the PhD will be completed on time.

Mentee that was told by PTDF interviewers that the profile is very strong

Bro thank you so very much for the updates, my question is, regarding this issue of admission, you know some of these schools require a successful applicant to pay acceptance fee/tuition after issuing admission to the individual and it's usually binding for a certain period after which one's admission will/might be rescinded.

PTDF might release the list after that payment window, how does one now go about it?

Then in cases for deferring admission, I might be wrong but some persons by extrapolation realize that with the current PTDF schedule the list might not come as at when due, that automatically translates to next year, shey the deferring process isn't strenuous?

that is the verification. They must corroborate what the software has done with what is real. That is why they require your original results etc. Anybody can put that they have first class and 8As on the software, without verification - they cannot accept that submission. The verification (done at interview stage) is an important part of the process

Ofcourse - the shortlisting does not have the interview component included. After interviews, the ranking of candidates can change significantly, someone that does exceptionally well for example can get a recommendation (maximum marks of 50) and even top those who had stronger profiles. e.g if before interview it was 70 for candidate A and 50 for Candidate B but after interview Candidate A got 25 but Candidate B got 50 - overall Candidate B gets 100 despite being lower ranked initially before the interview and Candidate A with 95

And that A1 is 6 points. Because from the marking scheme I saw with my own eyes it was 6 marks for A1 5As = 30 points

I made a mistake in my typo. It is 5 subjects they used this time. I have modified it.

Lets assume PTDF is taking 200 per state for interview - if someone with 1st class and 5As is 201st in their state, they won't be shortlisted. While someone with 2:1 and Cs is 3rd in their state, they will be shortlisted.

It depends on the state, if your total points falls in the top performing for your state, even with 2:2 you will be shortlisted

Ehn ehn! This is interesting indeed ! But the other guy also said he had 2:1 in BSc but C grades in his O-level and he was shortlisted.

LOL who said? all that the software needs to do is to take Maths + English and 3 highest grade entries to calculate a final score for the WAEC component. Lecturers are only there for verification and actual interviewing

Yes U are right, a software can easily filter out candidates based on certain criteria like that. However, since the required WAEC results varies for shortlisted candidates, there is no way PTDF can conveniently grade the O-levels results like that on the portal. That is why they depend on the professors and interviewers to do that at the centers directly.

An easy way to do the shortlisting is to select the 'top candidates' from each state. Using computer software - the top candidates can be calculated easily by assigning points to each category of submission - WAEC, BSc Grade, MSc grade, publications, professional memberships etc. Despite we not knowing the exact scoring details, it is expected that those with the highest qualifications will have the highest marks - (this is without the interview component being scored).

Ofcourse the interview marks can swing and rearrange the list. For example if before interview someone with 70 marks got 30 in interview, and someone with 72 got 20 marks in interview, despite the initial being higher, the interview would change the overall marks.

It's not order of scoring , its order of application submission time. I have reason for this .
If u are to say order of scoring, it will be order of CGPA you entered but I doubt . That's only parameter that could be used for such a voluminous applications .

I disagree with the submission time sha - because I know the profiles of people in 6 states. And two people I know submitted not so early and they're names are at the top (based on profiles). All speculative sha

I'd disagree that the order is based on score for two reasons.
1. That won't be very much in my favor lol
2. On a serious note softwares usually sort based on creation (submission) date and time. We're seeing a list made up of either a first come, first serve or last come first serve or what you guys have alluded. This is most likely the case IMO.

Exactly that order is without the interview component, and the interview component can swing things in favour of those with grace, so prayer is key

Yes order is very important. I tried to use other metrics such as alphabetical order, PTDF serial number to justify the name placement all to no avail - I have used sample data of 6 states to verify what I think it is. But 6 states is not enough out of 36

not the only one. For peace sake, let's keep our speculations to ourselves .

I have some speculation about the order of names published for candidates invited for the interviews but I don't have enough data to verify - so it would just be a speculation. Hopefully the final list comes out soon and I can confirm if my speculations are true

Go to the page where you select your course and then click edit, that is when it will appear - happened similarly for OSS

The interviewers seemed impressed with the proposal presentation and recommended focus areas in the research about increasing production efficiency and wished candidate the best of luck.

Really? my mentee with 5 professional memberships and 2 publications could only add maximum of 5 on the portal, just want to check if there was a possibility of adding more on the portal during the application stage. They had to tell the interviewers about their other membership and publication by mouth (which they verified by asking for the documents over Teams)

This year, I think Publications and Professional Membership certifications are interchangeable for the MSc applicants and it is limited to maximum of 5. You will notice that when you are on that section of the PTDF portal, both publications and professional certifications are listed in the same input field but you can't add more than 5. Hence, I am thinking 5 publications or 5 professional certifications or a combination of both will still amount to the same maximum mark. Thus publications may not be needed if you already have 5 professional certifications and vice versa. However, for the PhD, I think publications is a must while certifications may not be as important.

I was invited. Did my interview. My name isn't on this list. Based on this list, there's already over 100 people from my state and I wasn't even listed. Apparently I should know by now I wasted my time.

For those who may want to calculate their chances, my observations during the interview has led me to this template (my observation);

1. Class of degree = 30marks.
first-class =30, 2'1 =24 etc

2. English, Math + best 3 Olevel grades = 30marks
A1=6marks, B2=5marks, B3=4marks etc

3. SOP + your oral Presentation = 25marks

4. Max 5 professional memberships = 10marks
each membership carries 2mrks...

Been a minute I contributed here. Took a break. I used to have the breakdown for the scoring a long time ago. But deleted it for confidentiality reasons. I know I have discussed the breakdowns for MSc during the last scholarships. I will look for it and post it again

Apparently someone was contacted about 2 weeks ago to confirm admission details, for now - I think best is just to wait and pray. The scholarship offers will drop anytime soon
