If you are intending to select IFP or UPMC institutions in france, you must be certain to have a very sound academic qualification to stand any chance. The competitiveness makes disqualification rate very high.

I have a friend who was invited by GE without knowing anybody, it is due to the quality of the candidates who apply - my friend finished from a top nigerian federal with top grades and a history of excellence, got called and scaled all processes

I love to work with GE but all i get from them is regret mail, right now i'm curious about GE recruitment process and how their HR officers do shortlist applicants who meet their requirements for test and interview. Do we have anybody who applied and was invited? (not via referral) or anybody who understands how the process works and what Nigeria graduates need to do to get an invite from them. Your SOP is very important. Infact, it will determine whether you will be shortlisted for the interview along with other required document.

to increase your chances, apply to schools that have a minimum 2.2, if you check very well, there are all tiers of schools for the PTDF application, from school like imperial for first class only, to schools like Robert Gordon that accept 2:2. Do your research on the schools you want to select. Best of luck

I think it is important to research the schools you want to pick and evaluate your chances of getting into those schools. Depending on your grades and the level of competion in those schools, Schools like Imperial College have high quality applicants applying from all over the world and so the competition is usually stiffer than others. Select your schools in according to your prefrence and how easy you can get a place there

Please, I need your opinions on this: I studied Applied Geology from one of these federal universities in Nigeria. I want to choose University of Manchester as my first choice to study Petroleum Exploration Geoscience, and French Institute of Petroleum as third choice to study Petroleum Geoscience, because I have planned it from the beginning to specialize in the oil and gas related courses in my higher degrees. My confusion is on the second choice I didn't see any course in Germany schools that caught my interest, so I want to choose my second choice from the UK schools. I am now confused on the school to choose to increase my chance due to competition and some other related things, I saw Imperial college London with Petroleum Geoscience and University of Liverpool with Petroleum Reservoir Geoscience. Please kindly give your opinions, knowledge and your thoughts concerning the two schools concerning the reasons I stated earlier and any of your reasons.

Letter of recommendation isnt required. But you have to put details of 3 referees, I know folks who got last year after applying without NYSC discharge/exemption certificate. They uploaded their posting letter that showed date when they will finish NYSC, the only condition is that you must have finished NYSC BEFORE the interview because then they will have to see it live

oh I understand, from last year the UK places were deemed more competitive so I spreading it may increase your chances

What I meant is whether we must choose schools across the three countries or choose all three schools from the same country. I got no answer till I did what I thought was good for me, choosing all three schools from UK

Choice of country/schools is on the first page, if you log in to your application, go all the way back, you can ask @yakbauer I told him the same

I finally submitted without getting answers to the questions I raised on admission letter upload and choice of countries. I just left out the admission letter stuff since they said they'll get admission for us and also chose UK schools all through since they were the only schools with courses related to my area of interest which is IIOT

Why not ask your questions on this platform and receive your response? This is important because anyone who reads the thread in subsequent years will actually benefit from it.

Truth is there is no rocket science in getting the scholarship. Aside the favour of God involved, your ability to be smart and paying attention to minute details matters alot.

Second truth is... If you are waiting to get a sample Statement of Purpose, then i must frankly say that it is the beginning of failure. There is nothing as noteworthy and important as formulating the statement of purpose in your own words and your own experience. This is because in months to come, you can clearly defend what you have written because it typically embodies you.
1. You should be familiar with PTDF's vision and core mandates. Try to build your SoP around these mandates (Very Helpful).
2. Specifically mention what you intend to accomplish during studies. Focus on your strengths.
3. Be sure to state how the knowledge gathered from the studies can be applied in solving real problems; not really pertaining to oil and gas.
4. DO NOT for any reason mention that you hope to get a good job abroad after studies to practise what you have learnt.
5. It will be beneficial to state that you are looking forward to diversifying... meaning while focusing on your studies, you wouldnt mind acquiring other skills (mention these skills).
6. One of the mandate of PTDF is human capital development. so you are expected to show command of good level of leadership, communication, interpersonal and problem solving capabilities.

Finally like i always tell people, focus on building yourself. Truth is whether you are for MSc or PhD, three things should stand you are - Academic Qualification, Publications, and Awards and Membership of Professional Bodies. Not everyone would have a First class honours, but while someone with a first class might have a little advantage, a fellow without a first class honours can be chosen ahead of the first class (Trust me, i am not bluffing)!
My point is, do not lay all emphasis on the statement of purpose and forget other very important areas.

Yes but now I think they have updated everything correctly

A lot of updates are still being carried out on the PTDF flxisaf website. Do not rush to submit your application to avoid regrets.I logged in today and noticed a lot of updates and I had nearly submitted last week but for the challenges I had.
