A Leicester crown court has heard how two friends filmed themselves on mobile phone beating a man to death even as they taunted him. The duo of Joshua Hack, 21 and Keith Lowe, 22, have pleaded guilty to murder after police dug up the video of the incident which they filmed on their phones and tried to delete unsuccessfully from cloud storage. The two evil friends are accused of luring 23-year-old Brendan Mason to a park at about 1.40 am.in the early hours of the morning of June 5 2015, having given him to believe they wanted to spend time with him as friends. But on arrival, the duo launched the most brutal assault on him. The video footage played to the court by police persecutors show Lowe holding the victim's neck between his legs while they both tell him: "Smile for the camera". When Brandon Mason fell unconscious, Hack and Lowe then stripped him of all possession and dumped him in a cold pond to remove all forensic evidence before abandoning him for dead in Abbey Park and cycling to a nearby MacDonald's restaurant for a hearty meal with the victim's money. Abbey park is located in Leicester, Britain. It can be as lonely at night as it is beautiful Park groundsmen arriving early that morning (7.40am on July 5 last year), found Mr Brandon Mason naked, unconscious and bleeding. Emergency first aid workers airlifted him by helicopter to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry where medics discovered he had 99 different injuries to his head and body, this included brain damage, five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Sadly, Brendan Mason died later that day and the case become murder. Joshua Hack and Keith Lowe, both residents of Leicester, lured their friend Brendan Mason, who has learning difficulties, to a park, after making him believe they wanted to spend quality time with him. They hung him from a tree and took turns hitting him while the other held him fast. This went on for several hours n the early hours of July 5 last year with them laughing and taunting him in the worst kind of way. After Brendan Mason fell unconscious, they stripped him naked and threw his body in a pond, leaving him for dead in Abbey Park, Leicester. Found by groundsmen and airlifted to a hospital in Coventry, Mr Mason later died of his wounds which were many. On arrest Joshua Hack initially admitted to murder but Keith Lowe denied it and so went on trial last week. Four days into his trial, he changed his plea to guilty, after police brought him face to face with the video of the crime he committed and tried to delete from his phone. Prosecutor Miranda Moore QC, told the court that officers actually saw the video on the Cloud and not the phone. ‘It shows Brendan’s battered and naked body with Lowe still landing blows.’ ‘It was being made for a third party to show them what happened to Brendan.’ “They were using their phones to communicate because Brendan doesn’t know what’s about to happen to him. Speaking to reporters after the case, senior investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Mick Graham said: ‘Brendan was known to the defendants and considered them as friends, and they lured him to the park with the full intention of hurting him.’ In their statement released to the press, Brendan’s family said: ‘It is not right how two evil people can do such a horrific thing and leave a massive hole in our lives that will never be filled again.‘Brendan was a lovely young man and he was so happy. He had numerous learning difficulties and very poor vision.‘Even though Brendan had numerous learning difficulties and was very easily led by others, he always knew right from wrong.‘The police have been a big part of our life for the past seven months; they have been amazing, but there will never be closure for us.’ Joshua Hack and Keith Lowe,will be sentenced tomorrow at Leicester Crown Court, Britain. The inability of the current Nigerian government to revamp the economy has led to a lot of criticism from various quarters. Usually, most of these critics like former Aviation minister, Femi-Femi Kayode, get their lives turned upside down by the Nigerian Security Agencies while others like singer 2Face, who planned a nationwide protest recently, just get picked up in commando style by the secret police. Certain Nollywood celebrities, particularly the ones who are quite active on social media get away with murder, as they can't be touch without public uproar, and one of them is actress, Funke Adesiyan. This glowing Yoruba beauty has verbally attacked President Buhari in the media, saying she has no regrets in his government in as much as she never voted him into office! Speaking out on the news last week, the actress said that the nationwide protest was not what Nigerians needed as it would not make any impact, next thing you know she was on Instagram, blasting hell out of the Buhari-led administration. In her words, President Buhari is egoistic, full of deceit and a king tyrant...... “There was a country. I am not disappointed in this egoistic, deceitful, two-faced tyrant of a president as I did not vote for him, I am more disappointed in men of supposed honour who sold this bad product to gullible Nigerians and yet keep mute as the democracy they alongside many others fought for is being destroyed by this tyrant of a General. I am disappointed in Asiwaju Tinubu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Adams Oshiomole and many more men and women who had led us to believe they are on the side of Nigeria and the oppressed. In his absence, the vice-president has become the world's hardest working man with zero productivity. The naira is falling like a ton of pig iron thrown down from the top of a one hundred story skyscraper, Fulani herdsmen have promoted themselves to police officers, complete with uniforms, weapons and ranks, the most lucrative business in the country has become kidnapping and fraud, cripples in wheelchairs protest against the government....all this and what do we have? A declaration of extension of vacation from the president to 'see the queen some more!' Rumors have it that President Buhari is actually holed up in a hospital in London undergoing medical treatments for an unknown ailment. If this man had done his job right, one reckons Abuja General Hospital would have been an adequate treatment center. But wait! Who was it that placed an embargo on politicians and government officials traveling overseas for medical care? You see, every word that actress Funke Adesiyan has uttered above precisely describes the tyranny that is the government of Nigeria and the Fulani man who heads it. These criminals have targeted a number of companies connected to the football world. For the fifth time as history counts, the Indomitable lions of Cameroon have now won the African cup of Nations. Cameroon won the title by beating Egypt 2-1 in what was clearly a thrilling match of an African cup of Nations final. Substitute Vincent Aboubakar scored a late cracker which lifted Cameroon to victory over Egypt in the finals of the 2017 tournament which was played on Sunday. In recent times, there have been a lot of complaints and criticism on here about the lack of quality work from authors. Hitherto, I have made no comment on any of these issues but today, I break my silence due to a very insulting one that has popped up (though my attention was drawn to it late). PoliticalThuG:This guy who parades himself as e-Thug had the audacity, the rudeness, the discourtesy, the idiotic boldness to open a trend and call "All NIGRALAND AUTHORS.... IDIOTIC AND LAZY!", Offered to teach us how to write! Well, here is your reply. Firstly, writing is one thing but story build is a whole new thing. One can be a good writer, a wonderful speaker ever, but a terrible author....fact! On the issue of authors, though, there are authors and there are fakers, there are even learners and hard workers who never just get it right. But one thing is for sure, writing an ordinary story with a lot of copying is easy but a very good and original story will take you lots of time (months even years...Ruthless Betrayals, my first book, took me nearly 2 years) and lots of headaches! And then when you finally get it out and post it here, everybody and his blogger brother copy it in seconds and you find your work popping up in different colors all over the internet! And you wonder why there is a lack of quality works here! Listen again. Each year or so, Nairaland does a beauty and handsome contest...you follow? Mr. Nairaland and Miss Nairaland. Not once have they done a contest for authors..no reward or recognition, we even get banned by bots a lot...the thing has frustrated me twice, I abandoned my previous thread due to it. It took a direct call from Repogirl - God bless her gentle soul - which was supported by many authors including me, before our stories started making front page once in a blue moon. Yes, sir, there are very fine authors here who entertain for free with original stories. Now begin in low gear and you got the likes of 'godmother' with her command of the British English ...keep going and you got the like of safarigirl who takes romance and action to a new level even as she studies law in a university ...still keep going and you'll get old Frank with his magic spins and if you are very lucky, you could pass me along the line to the likes Larrysun and her majesty Repogirl the old gods of this section. Did I mention simonhabby, sorry he's retired now and off in South Africa with a new project, this I know from our last conversation. Zukky77, who moved on to become the architect of Globalruns is in China right now, too rich to write again...thses are just a few i know well. Nairaland is near empty of golden talents right now and the economy has a lot to do with it as we established authors do not have the time to kill anymore and so what you got here now are 'eager beginners' and from my point of view, they are not too bad, every skill begins from somewhere don't they? My first book was crazy, but simonhabby saw my talent all the way from South Africa when I was set to quit writing and reached out to me. I picked up my pen again and never stopped till now. We evolve, all authors do, but when people like you go around dishing out harsh criticism, that inner fire that keeps us burning dies. Have we asked you to pay for our works here? If we did none of those works would make front page in 100 years of trending.... I know this for sure. cos i got two trends where I promote paid books, very good ones too, each is $4 in the USA. Unfortunately for you, Mr PoliticalThug, I am a confident author and so on behalf of all Nairaland Authors, I will now teach you a lesson...are you hearing me? Get you school bag, an 80 leaves notebook and a pencil, white socks and brown sandals too, go to this trend, 'FOUR SHORT STORIES by Eze2000, and sit your ass down. But first make a choice of the four books you see there, the one that suits that insatiable taste of yours, then sit down and watch, do not allow anyone charge you a penny and don't rip over my table while in the class. hello, I need some help, please. I recently published a book which was kicked back due to 'some contents in my book being on the web'. I was given four days to prove I owned all rights to the content. To avoid being banned, I promptly unpublished the book. It took me 11 days to edit due to delays but now i can't republish due to the fact that they have blocked the book. What do i do? |

A Fulani herdsman has been sent to jail in Ekiti State, Nigeria, for the crime of intentionally driving his cattle to feed on a large farm and, therenby, destroying it completely. This happened on Friday, January 6, at a magistrate's court in Ado Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state, Nigeria. A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a herdsman, Abdulahi Abubakar, in prison custody for allegedly conspiring with others, who are now at large, to werck havoc to a farm valued at N1.2 million. The case was brought before the court by police prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo who revealed that the accused and others at large committed the offense on December 4 at about 5:00pm at Itapaji-Iyemero in Ikole-Ekiti. The prosecutor that the accused conspired together to commit an offence to wit malicious damage, punishable under Section 7 of Cattle and other Ruminants Grazing, Ekiti State Law 2016. This case is the first of its kind in the whole of Nigeria, which has suffered terribly from the menace of now fearless Fulani Herdsmen ever since their kinsman, Nigeria's current president Buhari assumed power. This case, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is not made possible by any move on part of the federal government, that government has been perfectly useless in this regard, but the fearlessness and open defiance of the governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, is what is at work here. He forced the above bill through in his state, right under the nose of the president and other cowardly politicians like the governor of Benue state who sat and watched as the Fulani Herdsmen wiped out whole sections of his state in commando style, areas comprising several farming tribes, The prosecutor insisted firmly that the accused, on the said date, with others still at large, did unlawfully rear cows into the large yam farm belonging to one Emmanuel Augustine and destroyed the farm which has a mean market value of N1.2 million. The accused, who has decided to wait for the return of President Buhari,,his kinsman and would-be protector who is away in Ghana attending to the important business of representing Nigeria at the inauguration of Ghana's new president, pleaded not guilty, and his counsel, Miss Oluwasayo Ayomide sharply applied for his bail, but, thank God, was opposed by the police prosecutor. The prosecutor actually stated openly that the offense was too rampant and also it would enable the police to arrest others involved in the crime. The Nigerian police could be your friend after all! In his judgement, Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye refused to grant bail and consequently remanded the accused in prison custody. He adjourned the case to Jan.13 for further hearing. In a rapidly failing economy where the cost of food has risen by 350%, still climbing, the government does nothing when Fulani herdsmen lead their cows fearlessly onto farmland and destroy in minutes, that which took months of toil to build. Where the farmers protest in any manner, these cattle breeding criminals kill them off in primitive commando style or the Army and DSS move in like in parts of the southeast where retaliating village farmers were arrested in droves. If the cows, which are not even made cheaply available for the consumption of hungry Nigerians, if these cows leave grass to eat the food meant for people with the apparent approval of the federal government who can't produce even one jailed Fulani herdsman for all the terrible crimes committed , what exactly does this government have in mind for the people to eat? How exactly do the government propose to solve the problem of a hungry nation with a population in the hundreds of millions?
