Christianity EtcAn Implicit Biblical Proof That Purgatory Might Exist. by ezelos(op): 11:09am On Aug 21, 2016
I remain a staunch catholic by birth and till death even though I contemplate sometimes about our doctrine, one of which is heavily centered on the existence of purgatory: a place of temporary punishment after death before making heaven. This has been a generational controversial argument between the catholics and the pentecostals. The latter believes firmly that there are only two eternal destinations: Heaven and Hell, while the former establishes the fact that there are 3: Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. As a born catholic, I never believed in purgatory because I needed strong biblical evidence to prove to whoever doubts its existence, just like the doubting Thomas. I have heard and read different biblical verses by catholics to prove it, but I wasn't satisfied until I stumbled on one very powerful verse that vividly and implicitly describes the existence of purgatory even though the name wasn't mentioned. The book of 1 Peter 3: 18-20 (Good News Bible) says: "For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death physically, but made alive spiritually, AND IN HIS SPIRITUAL EXISTENCE HE WENT AND PREACHED TO THE IMPRISONED SPIRITS. THESE WERE THE SPIRITS OF THOSE WHO HAD NOT OBEYED GOD WHEN HE AWAITED PATIENTLY DURING THE DAYS THAT NOAH WAS BUILDING HIS BOAT." Who and where were the imprisoned spirits Jesus went to preach to? Please note that I do not intend to raise dust, impose my belief or engage anyone regarding the truth-value of the scriptural words, but I desire to share it for you to ponder on what your faith dictates to you as a christian. Thank you.
LiteratureHistorical Analysis Of Chinua Achebe's There Was A Country (part 4) by ezelos(op): 6:25pm On Aug 19, 2016
We need to get it straight. All our
arguments, criticisms, abuses, judgement, etc. over
the years regarding the ineffectiveness and
visionlessness of the Nigerian leadership is traced as far back as after independence. Nothing seems to have changed. Get it! We have wasted precious years and time as a(n) (non) entity called Nigeria. The first generational leaders were distracted by power games and the pursuit of material comforts. Read:
"As we reached the brink of full-blown war it became clear to me that the chaos enveloping all of us in Nigeria was due to the incompetence of the Nigerian ruling class. They clearly had a poor grasp of history and found it difficult to appreciate and grapple with Nigeria's ethnic and political complexity.
LiteratureHistorical Analysis Of Chinua Achebe's There Was A Country (part 3) by ezelos(op): 6:15pm On Aug 19, 2016
I have this conviction that the British
granted us independence much too early,
considering the fact that we weren't unitedly
prepared for self-rule. We must understand that " the original idea of one Nigeria (Zik's vision) was pressed by the leaders and intellectuals from the Eastern Region. With all their shortcomings, they had this idea to build the country as one. The first to object were the Northerners, led by the Sardauna, who were followed closely by the Awolowo clique that had created the Action Group. The Northern Peoples Congress of the Sarduanians was supposed to be a national party, yet it refused to change its name from Northern to Nigerian Peoples Congress, even for the sake of appearances."

The inability of the colonized to rule itself amid series of crisis (elections and census) since 1963 suggests that even if Nigeria splits, the same nightmares will hunt the newly birthed nation.
We are naturally consumed by intolerance and do or die power struggle. For example, there was the
election crisis of 1965 in the Western region "which
threatened to split the country at its seams."Hence,
the writers at that time "knew that something was
very wrong in Nigeria. A fix was long overdue." It was a battle between two sons of the soil: Awolowo and Akintola. What is my point precisely? The call for secession is mouth-watering and very welcoming, but the challenges are herculean because they wouldn't be different from what we have experienced. Even the glaring division within each of the southern geo- political zones proves that. The only saving grace is to embrace a positive attitude and mentality.

I am an active member of this forum and I have observed that issues related to history are not discussed. Hence, I have taken up the interest of re-tracing historical events that have contributed in shaping the life of the entity called Nigeria since independence using Chinua Achebe's precious gift to us, THERE WAS A COUNTRY, as a guide or reference . I hope you will enjoy it and contribute actively as we revive our sense of history. "Nigeria was given her freedom on a platter of gold."-Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. The independence of Nigeria was a scam because we weren't totally autonomous considering the innate interest of the British to lord it over us through the northern region. We didn't earn it like gallant soldiers, paving way for a weak foundation towards nationhood. Right from the start of 1960, the plagues of ethnic bias, hatred and intolerance had crept into the system causing decades of extensive damage.

This questions the truth-value of our tied existence.
As Achebe puts it,"Within six years of this tragic
colonial manipulation Nigeria was a cesspool of
corruption and misrule. Public servants helped
themselves freely to the nation's wealth...and those
who were in power wanted to stay in power. The
easiest and simplest way to retain it, even in a limited area, was to appeal to tribal sentiments..."

Nairaland GeneralAre Our Christian Law Makers In Slumber? by ezelos(op): 11:44am On Aug 13, 2016
FULL SCALE SHARIA LAW IN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM?

I was shocked to watch the live proceedings of the House of Representatives as covered by NTA2 and saw that the bill calling for the criminal aspects of Islamic Sharia law to be implemented in our legal system in Nigeria at the Federal and states passed the second reading today! I was even more shocked because even though there were many Christians in the House no one raised an objection!  The Speaker of the House, Hon Yakubu Dogara, who presided over the proceedings said that what this meant was that it would now move to committee level where it will be discussed fully before the House would decide on it finally, but it is curious that not even one voice of dissent was aired against it! I waited till 9pm to hear what NTA Network news would report about it, but there was a blackout of reportage about it!  Of course, other issues discussed and decided in the House today were reported but not this one!  The bill to amend the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to make provision for the full implementation of Sharia Criminal law at the Federal and states legal system has passed the second reading in the House of Representatives and no one is telling Nigerians what is happening! For all we know, when a bill passes the second reading unchallenged in parliament it is almost as good as passed!
Long before the 2nd Republic, Muslim leaders in Nigeria have always agitated for the full implementation of Sharia in Nigeria.  Nobody has forgotten the hot debates that took place in the Constituent Assembly of 1978 about the place of Sharia in the 1979 Constitution. Christian members kicked against the full implementation of full Sharia because non-Muslims would fall victim of this law.  In the end, a compromise was reached that the Sharia Personal Law be allowed, not the criminal aspects.  It was the same thing that happened in 1988 Constituent Assembly that produced the 1989 Constitution, which never took off.  In fact, in the 1988 Constituent Assembly, General Ibrahim Babangida, then Nigeria’s self- styled military President, had to stop all debates relating to Sharia and other sensitive issues when he saw how inflammable the debates were becoming, and retained the status quo. The 1999 Constitution drew much from both the 1979 and 1989 Constitutions and retained Sharia Personal law.  Now, Muslims, under PMB, have surreptitiously attempted to amend the Constitution to insert the full implementation of Sharia without carrying Nigerians along! Muslim leaders have always argued that Sharia law is meant for Muslims only.  But Christians have always refused to buy the argument because in practice, non- Muslims have often been dragged before Sharia courts and have been adjudicated by a legal system repugnant to their faith.  Several documented cases abound to prove this!  Besides, Christians have always argued why the government that is supposed to be neutral to all religions should uphold the religious laws of one religion with public funds to the harm of the adherents of other faiths!

These are some of the issues that make some of us to take with a pinch of salt the claims that PMB means well for this country!  Our job is to bring these issues to the fore to create awareness of what is happening.  Whatever happens afterwards is beyond our power.  It’s up to you all! Broadcast this information

Pls take all steps available to u to let this be known in higher hierarchy of the church, PFN & CAN. We must not be docile now.

Nairaland GeneralAlert: Police Commissioner Exposes The Latest Gimmick Of Fraudsters! by ezelos(op): 8:51pm On Aug 04, 2016
Mesage from Commissioner of Police, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Please this is a true story which happened just few days ago. My friend advertised for sale of a car and put the price at N2,700,000.00 . A prospective customer called and was given direction on how to get to where the car was parked. He observed the car and informed my friend that he was heading to the bank to make payment and that she should assemble the document ready for collection as soon as payment is made. Shortly after that alert came to my friend's phone and few minutes after the alert the customer came and all the paper plus the car was handed over to him and he left. To my friends greatest shock, she went to the bank and could not find any money and the bank said that the alert did not come from them. My friend is planning to go to court with her bank. The advice is that alert is no longer a confirmation of payment. Please let's all be careful when doing transactions especially this season n now in this technology crazy generation. God be with us all. Rebroadcast pls. Cc: lalasticlacla

that was a tough call. I don't ever wanna be in such situation.
I would want my wife to rescue me first so i guess i would have to also rescue my wife and Children before my mom.
Its my dad's duty to rescue my mom.
I would also try to rescue my mom no matter how difficult it gets but my wife and children comes first.

As a child, i don't think i would ever forgive my dad if he rescued my grandmother instead of my mother.
. The only condition in which you ignore a mother for a wife is if the latter is undeserving of your love or else you are not being sincere.

. How can you say 'Only God protects those who are His?' Everyone lives by His grace and mercy. The reason why we pray before leaving home is not only to ask for His protection, but also commit our souls to Him in case the worst happens. Have you thought of the woman who was killed while preaching or the Rev. Pastor killed in his farm? Please, don't live with such thoughts.
FamilyRe: I Suspect My Mom Is Cheating, Help Me!! by ezelos(m): 9:03pm On Jul 10, 2016
Ejemehn:
For the sake of your younger siblings and the sake of the unity of the whole family you have to forget your age in this issue and handle it like the man you'll one day be proud of.

There's a reason why God has let you in on all this.

On a wonderful night while everyone is asleep, call your mum to the sitting room and talk to her. Let her know the imminent danger she's putting you, your dad, your siblings and the family at large. See, there's no good in infidelity. The Bible says there's a way that seemeth right unto man but the end thereof is destruction, and one of such ways is infidelity. Let her know she'll only tear the family apart with her current ways. Whether she's had sex with the man or not she erred big time. Going to a place and lying. Not to mention she went their without informing your father.

On another night. Call your dad and also talk to him too. Tell him to work on himself. Probably there are things he might need to work on.

After sometime, on another night call the two of them and sit them down and talk to them pointing out reasons why the family must stay together.

I tell you the truth. Your parents will never see you like a 20 year old again.

A broken home is not the best. Do your best to mend this crack.

God shall strengthen you. Go to him for wisdom.

Wish you the best of luck
. This remains the best advice so far!
FamilyRe: Whatsapp Dp About To Crash My Sisters Marriage . Pics by ezelos(m): 3:17pm On Jul 10, 2016
As usual, most men will condemn the wife, while the women crucify the husband. Both were wrong first with the husband. But the wife handled it badly. What excuse have you 4 starving your family for 3 days. Gush, that's irresponsible! Sometimes, women need to activate that which melts the heart of men. It works! The husband self should simply apologise. But why do we also poke nose on things as this?

Pls modify for better comprehension.it is not too proper for your sister to refuse cooking for her husband just because she needed apologies.

Women of nowadays know nothing about handling men but they want a man to be able to read their minds.. Mtchhwwwww....tell your sister to go and cook for her husband, and later use her charms to make her husband apologise... She shouldn't break her home and blame it on dp..
. It is as simple as that!
