^^^ I don't fear any Fulani. My fear come from his views on business. He is not good for business or investment. Goodluck is better. That is a proper Igbo man's fear. Something that can interfere with his livelihood. |
I am glad to see a person from the SW fear Buhari just as much as me in the East. Sadly, some members of my family are in support of Buhari. |
Give us nuclear power, which in a way can be used as a deterrent. ![]() |

We should have allowed a foreign nation or international organization to conduct our election, because it would seem that Nigeria does not have the capabilities of doing so. . . |
Thugs Armed To Stop Agagu AKURE -THE rescheduled elections into the National Assembly appears to have taken a new twist as supporters of a leading politician , are alleged to be importing armed thugs into the riverine areas of Ondo state in a bid to stop former governor Olusegun Agagu. Agagu is seeking election to the senate to represent Ondo south senatorial districts of the state. But the plot is not limited to Agagu, as the masterminds have equally vowed to work against the presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election scheduled for the 16th of April. Using the rescheduled National Assembly elections as a premise, the PDP leader, who was one of frontline coordinators during the primaries , has commenced the covert recruitment of armed youths from a neighbouring state in a bid to disrupt both National Assembly and Presidential elections. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/04/thugs-armed-to-stop-agagu/ |
ACN supporter killed, 4 others injured in Ogbomoso BY OLA AJAYI ONE of the supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ogbomoso, Mr. Isiaka Ademola, was reportedly killed and four others seriously injured when rampaging hoodlums believed to be supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state attacked them. Though, the state Police Command confirmed the attack and the killing, it claimed that the death of the deceased was being traced to the ACN. According to a source, the attack took place at Gbede in Surulere Local Government Area, around 11.30 a.m. when the accreditation of voters was going on. The source told Vanguard that the deceased died as a result of machete cuts inflicted on him by the attackers, who disrupted the peace that had reigned before their arrival. While four injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, Ademola was reported to have died some hours after he was attacked. His corpse was reportedly taken to the Police Area Command in Ogbomoso, where a formal report was made. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/04/acn-supporter-killed-4-others-injured-in-ogbomoso/ |

^^^ Yet, you are supporting a candidate who will be using these type of voters in order to get elected. |

^^^ GEJ is going to win many states in the SW. ACN may will locally, but nationally, Goodluck will win in the SW. You act like everyone in the SW support ACN. In Lagos, the majority of the Igbos/SS minorities support Goodluck. The Northerners in the SW will support Buhari. Where is ACN going to get votes for Ribadu? Ribadu will not share any votes in Rivers and Akwa Ibom. Maybe Edo but you are really stretching if you think Ribadu has support in the East. Buhari will win most Northern states, but GEJ will also win in the North. The math is not there for Ribadu. |
^^^ Agreed |
Ribadu has no chance in winning this election. Where does he get his support? Only from the SW. Most Northern states have their candidate. Goodluck will take sweep the SE and SS and some states in the SW. |
I support Goodluck Jonathan, because I want to finally see peace in the Niger Delta. And since he is from the region, I think he is the best man for the job to solve that problem. Plus, Goodluck is good for business and foreign investment. ![]() |
Very nice thread my brethren. |
God forbid PDP wins Abia. I don't wont PDP, PPA or ACN in Abia. APGA Imo Abia |
We all know how this election will end. GEJ will win. Northern leaders will rile up their people. They will attack Southerners like they normally do in contested elections. I see dark days for Nigeria. God bless my family in Kaduna, Kano and Jos. I hope they are safe. To Your Tents, O Alaigbo! |
9ijaMan:Over my dead body, will I ever live in a Sharia nation. The East will continue to be bastion for Christendom. And we will resist any incursion by the Islamic hordes that are at our gates. Why would I want a nation to resemble many Middle Eastern nations, when my country can resemble Singapore, Taiwan or Hong Kong? |
Eko Ile:If the election was about competency and qualifications, Ribadu and Buhari would not be running. Pat Utomi and others would be the front runners now would they? This election is about regional, minority and religious sentiments. Even advanced democracies sometimes deal with the descriptive aspect of a candidate. Look at how President Obama was elected, because he was the first major African American candidate to run for office who actually had a chance of being elected. You are living in a dream world, if you think Nigeria should aspire to such levels. |

I agree with you OP. President Jonathan stands as a symbol for all the oppressed minorities in Nigeria, especially in the Niger Delta. Many people on Nairaland have not come to realize that by now. Why should members of the same group continue to run for president? Why can't an Efik man be president of Nigeria? Why can't an Idoma man be president of Nigeria? Why can't a Tiv man be president of Nigeria? Why can't an Ekoi man be president of Nigeria? The list is endless. Even the Igbo have never had a head of state except for Ironsi back in the 60s for a few months. Don't people find that strange? Buhari had his time to run this nation as a Military Head of State. Why should we recycle "leaders" when there are over 150 million Nigerians? |
^^^ Certain areas of Monrovia have electricity, but the majority of the city does not have electricity. It can be quite scary in certain parts of that city. However, you will find Nigerians in places you would not expect them to be. They actually respect Nigerians in Liberia. |

Hondurans honor African heritage By the CNN Wire Staff April 3, 2011 12:14 a.m. EDT Tegucigalpa, Honduras (CNN) -- Thousands of black Hondurans paraded through the streets of the capital Friday as the country's president pledged to do more to promote and protect their heritage. About 2,000 Hondurans of African and Caribbean descent -- known as the Garifuna -- came to Tegucigalpa from communities that dot the country's coast for the start of African Heritage Month. They carried 214 drums with them as they marched through the streets -- demanding respect for their rights and honoring the Garifuna's arrival in the Central American country 214 years ago. "Today we have been here for 214 years making our firm demands, against government repression of the Garifuna communities, against the invasion of our communities' land by landowners and large foreign projects that have sold our property and demanding intercultural, bilingual education," said Dr. Luther Castillo, a Garifuna activist. As he kicked off festivities, President Porfirio Lobo announced that he would sign an agreement within six months to give indigenous people and Honduran blacks a preferential right to choose teachers and doctors from their own villages. Garifuna communities have requested such an allowance, which could bring bilingual education into classrooms that once only taught Spanish. "This should be a reason for us to reflect in order to have a more cohesive society, without any kind of discrimination, with social justice and opportunities for all," Lobo said. He predicted that he would be recognized as a defender of the rights of Afro-Hondurans by the end of his term. Government officials said Friday's festivities marked the first time a Honduran president had inaugurated the month. The country's post office also plans to issue stamps commemorating African Heritage Month. Honduras will host a "World Summit of Afrodescendants" in August. Ana Pineda, the minister of justice, said the Honduran government is concerned about the rights of the Garifuna and other ethnic groups, pointing to the creation of a government ministry of indigenous and Afro-Honduran people as proof. But activists marching Friday said the government still must do more to recognize their rights. "The simple act of being this color and speaking the language we speak, we are repressed in this country," university student Keldy Bermudez said. "So we as young Garifuna, we demand our rights to be respected for who we are." In 2001, the United Nations recognized the language, dance and culture of the Garifuna, who also live in other Central American countries.
