The Niger Deltan militants are not considered terrorist by the U.S.

However, Boko Haram and all those Islamist groups up North are considered part of terrorist organization. The terrorist up North, do not attack those who are exploiting them, mainly the Fulani elite, they are attacking innocent Christians who do not even play a part in their own exploitation.

Foolish people. That is why the sooner this nation is divided, the better. angry

Not too surprising, considering the fact that the Fulanis were exposed to arabic education through the touaregs and berbers of north Africa. Many of them learnt how to read and write, study classical logics, medicine, and even law well before Mungo park was born. So, unlike many of their contemporaries, they could weave a good arguement, perform basic physical or chemistry experiment, and even "miraculously" heal a basic illness.
Very true. We tend to forget about the Fulani came from a region, that has seen many great African civilizations such as the Kingdom of Ghana, Mali, and Songhay Empire.

These Fulanis did learn about Islamic culture through their encounters with the nomadic Tuareg. Now the Tuareg are the bad boys of Islamic North and West Africa. These berbers are true warriors. The Fulani learned a lot from these people in terms of Islamic scholarship.

They have been perfecting their manipulating of the political processes of Nigeria for so long, it will be a while till the rest of us can catch up with them.

People tend to call the north uneducated, however, the Fulani are quite educated and it is through our arrogance, that they are able to control us as well.

This Uthman dan Fodio character really did do a number on Nigeria.

That is why I said he sowed the seeds of discord in Yorubaland.

His calvary could not enter the jungles of Igboland where he would have went against my Aro people who also had firearms from the European traders.

But I always thought that Muslim Yorubas were the moderate Muslims in this country. It is hard for me to believe this story, because I have many Yoruba friends who are Muslim.

And this is why for some foolish reason, I admire the Fulani. These people went from nomads to an aristocracy. Amazing!!!

Too bad it is in Nigeria, my beloved land. I would have loved to see this play out in Ghana. grin

Yes, they were at peace. That is before Islam crept into their society, led by nomadic Fulani of Senegal.

Now look at the region, the Fulani overthrew the Hausa kings and now the Fulani are the Lords of the Hausa.

@ezeuche, we're at advantage numerically, you'll be surprised when it start, we've heared this song of we're ready over and over again, but we keep dealing with you guys all the time. btw i dont have problems with igbo guys i've got so many of them as freinds the people i have problems with are those southern kaduna porks and jos swines, but since you igbos wanna come into the beaf then you're welcome. ANYTIME.
You say that you have Igbo friends, but if your religious Imams say that you need to wipe out the Igbo infidels in your region, you will be one of the first people to slay your own Igbo friends. That is how your people think.

Remember that the World will be on the Christian southerner's side. The reason being is that the West already consider themselves at war with the Islamic world.

CNN and BBC is already painting the Jos Crisis as a Muslim vs. Christian battle. The Christians in Jos are already being seen as innocent souls who are trying to fight back the Muslim tide.

That is why I like you Hausa people, it would be wonderful for us Igbos to deal with your people alone. grin

@ezeuche, na wetin i be hausa from sokoto and i be officer for nigeria army, there're more southerners in the north than northerners in the south, the only northerners in the south are just the cattle sellers and some petty traders, but the southerners in the north are both petty traders and professionals. if you go around sokoto my town you'll see so many many churches unlike you'll see mousques in the south, so pls bring the violence on so that we can clear your doubts.
We Igbos have been waiting for a nice fight with you Hausas. Just bring it on. I am sure my brethren in the North are ready for you! We learned from our mistakes and we will fight back.

Just touch one Igbo soul in the north, and the lives of every Hausa in the East will be forfeit. Yes, we will slaughter the cattle sellers and take their cows.

This is the way of the world. The southerners in the North, know they are surrounded by enemies, so they will be ready for your murderous brethren.

You must be a Nigerian of Northern extraction. First, I thought you were Yoruba, but you are offended when people talk about the Hausa-Fulani so you must be a Hausa man.

You cannot fool anyone. Nigeria will soon be divided.

Lets see who else is responsible for this. If more people from Northern extraction are behind this, it will show that Nigeria is not truly united.

The military has always been Northern dominated.

Are you kidding me, Nigerian elite from Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Efik, Ijaw, Tiv, Ibiobio will do anything to prevent such a thing happening as they had already knew what the result of such an exercise will be, judging from Nairaland.  They are too afraid to be isolated with their own people in a possible nation. The same people they always claim to represent in their isolated paradise- Abuja.

Choatic Nigeria suits them, as their individual presence helps each other, hence their fear to be isolated without their co-travellers in Nigeria with them anymore.  Remember, the more the numbers, the deadlier a robbery gang!

A pickpocket hates an orderly environment, they prefer choatic one, so that they can operate without being noticed. So is Nigeria and the elite, Choatic nature of Nigeria gives them an operative cover.
That means we have to deal with the political elite as well. I know these elites very well, especially since many of my own family members are part of this select few. We need to deal with these traitors.

However, people should not underestimate the power of a grassroots movement. Many African governments have been toppled from the people themselves.

WE THE PEOPLE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! We just need to learn how to channel the collective will of the people to make sure our voices are heard.

Why is it that most religious conflicts in the world involve Moslems.

I have seen articles in Newspapers and on the internet where Jesus was blasphemed called a homosexual, said to have studied witchcraft and other blasphemous things but when do you see Xtians taking up arms,

@Lanre_s Ethnic violence? Why is it only Moslems that are involved in Ethnic violence or Political crisis. Find examples below in the last 10years.

Mumbai shooting: Pakistani Moslems  vs Hindu.
Offa Kwara state: Nigerian Moslems vs Traditional worshippers.
Sudan: Arabian Moslems vs Xtian South.
London Trains : Moslems blow up trains (Arabian Moslems vs Agnostic/Freethinkers)
Southern Thailand: Thai Moslems vs Thai Buddhist
Middle East: Arab Moslems vs Israeli Jews
In Jos: Hausa-Fulani Moslem vs Plateau Christians
Bali Indonesia":  Moslems sect vs The rest of the world
Do you also notice that most of the regions you mentioned, were once colonies of Great Britain. That is food for thought.

Wherever the British were, they sowed the seeds of discontent in the region.

they have no business in a referendum on the future of nigeria ?
I did state that they should vote as part of the regional blocs. undecided

It allows them to have a voice in this matter. I am talking about Southeast, Southwest, North and Northeast.

The people of the Middle Belt could join the voting blocs of the south. No one said, it would be neat. We need to keep in mind traditional boundaries of the other ethnic groups as well.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Referendum by EzeUche(op): 4:32pm On Mar 10, 2010
It is good that we have this discussion. I know how many Nigerians feel about separation.

However, we need to discuss this. All options needs to be on the table. That includes a discussion about oil. The glue that keeps Nigeria as one.

The idea of regional blocks sounds fine on the surface; its just that the smaller tribes may complain again at some point in the future. Damn Nigeria is too complicated.
Yes, they may complain, but Regional blocs would be the best outcome, then having one unified country. Like I have said before in previous threads, I rather drive a small car that works than a big car that doesn't work.

Nigeria is a sinking ship, and the sooner we realize this, the better.

I would be in support in dividing Northern Nigeria from Southern Nigeria as well. The people of the Middle Belt could be included with Southern Nigeria.

Katsumoto:
I would prefer a situation whereby all Nigerians voted rather than having representatives at a conference. With what has happened in the past, I do not trust anybody to speak for me.

If we all vote according to our state of Origin, then percentages can be used to determine who wants to stay or leave Nigeria. For instance, the bar may be set at 55%. So if 56% of Ijaw people vote to opt out, then Ijaw can be out. For all the regions that opt out and are in close proximity, they can decide whether they want to form a union or not. So if the Igbo and Efi/Ibibio people both opt out, they can both decide whether they want to form a new nation together.
I like that idea, but I think it should be based on regional blocs. If we go by state of Origin or ethnic group, then Nigeria would be reduced to hundreds of pieces. I support having a North, Northeast, Southwest, and South East voting bloc if a referendum happens. Many of the people who are in these regional blocs have common histories and cultures so they should be lumped together.

Anyway, Nigeria should watch the referendum vote that will be occurring in Sudan in 2011.
