I do not blame these wayward members of some Igbo sub-groups for this nonsense. The defeat of Biafra has been hard on the Igbos. Anyone can see this. |
You can keep your damn clan identity. You can keep your damn resources. But you cannot say you are not Igbo. It is a simple as that. Why would someone want their tiny clan be an ethnic group? Haven't they seen how minorities are treated in Nigeria? We all know the minorities do not benefit from the oil that is in their land, so a tiny Igboid speak group, better wise up or the wider Igbo will not come to their aid when they are attacked by other groups. Then you will answer who your father's name , and your father's kin will not know you. |
binjahbo:Can you please be quiet. Dialects are different from languages. A dialect is only a subset of a language. Igbos are united through language if you like it or not. We might not have the same culture, but we do have similar languages. Only in Africa will a group say they are different, because of differences in dialects. That is why we have a foolish notion of 250 ethnic groups even though most of these so called "ethnic groups" can be collapsed into larger groups. Igboid speaking groups will be united like Yoruboid and Edoid speaking groups are. They were Igbo prior to the civil war, now they are not? What nonsense is that? |
Obiagu1:Agreed. However, the Ikwerre hold the key to our march to the sea. Once the Ikwerre remember their roots, they will be welcomed. The younger generation is different from their parent's generations. They understand that they are Igbos. I can see Opobo and Bonny under our flag, but the Okrika and Kalabari will be the hardest to win over to our sides. |
^^^ fstranger, don't you have young ladies to stalk? It is unbecoming of a man to stalk another man. So stay out of my business. This is between me and Muki. ![]() |
louchi:This is the truth. It is very quote worthy. |
mukina2:Thank you! I knew you had a heart. Do you still remember the deal that was made? ![]() |
mukina2:Come on now! Don't you think this is a little heavy-handed? I wanted more response, and the culture section does not get many responses as the Politics section. I know you have a heart Muki! |
Moderators - This thread should be moved to the cultural section. It does not belong in the Racism, Tribalism, Sectarianism Section. My question that I asked in Igbo, was who is going to lead the Igbo and help save Igboland. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-607169.0.html |
I am not liking the recent turn of events occurring in Enugu. Bombs are dropping from the sky, being placed on the side of the roads and now they are trying to target the governor? We should thank God, that these bombs were all discovered. I think some evil politicians in Enugu state are trying to scare Sullivan Chime. He needs to deal with them properly, before innocent lives are lost. We Igbos do not believe in this type of nonsense. We are not Iraq. |
Ijaws fear no one. That is a fact. Well let me clarify, Ijaws fear Igbo domination. That is it. This is the reason why they do not try that nonsense in the East anymore. And to the Yorubas who said that they will make the Ijaws run to the Igbo. The Ijaws have already asked for our help, and the majority of Igbos looked the other way. They are on their own. However, I do respect their warlike tradition. They are most battle ready group in Southern Nigeria right now, so do not think of them as some people who can easily be defeated. Even the smallest minority can defeat a larger group if they have the resolve. Numbers do not matter. |
seanet02:That's the spirit! However, what did you all do when they attacked Atlas Cove. From what I remember, only strongly worded statements were given. ![]() |
Ileke-IdI:The Ijaws realized that the Igbos would not allow that nonsense to happen. Especially when it comes to Port Harcourt. The East is no man's land for militancy, except in their reserve Bayelsa state, which we set aside for them. Prompt reaction? I would hope so, instead of running for your lives. Where was the prompt reaction with the Warri crisis? OBJ is not president anymore, they have one of their own giving orders. So tread carefully. And no one wants the JTF operating in a region. They do not differentiate between Southerners. |
Becomrichn:That's a damn lie and you know Becomrichn. The Iteskiri are one of the smallest ethnicities in Nigeria. Their numbers are barely 500,000. The Anioma Igbos vastly outnumber the Itsekiri. Igbos and Urhobos are the largest groups in Delta state. |
Ileke-IdI:I think my fellow Igbos and I, are trying to show you all that this is what we have been going through in East of the river Niger. My Ibibio cousins had to resist encroach by Ijaws into their region and the the Igbo sub-groups also have come into conflict with them. We were hoping for a Eureka moment from our Yoruba brothers and sisters. But you attacked the Igbo for no reason. |
Ileke-IdI:"Eyewitness said residents of neigbouring towns like Ajagba, Akotogbo and other villages in the area had also fled their areas in anticipation of possible invasion by the ex-militants. About six towns in the area have been diserted as residents were said to be taking refuge at Ode-Irele and the state capital." I hope you know you cannot reason with these people, when oil is involved. I am pretty sure that this area has oil, and when oil is involved and Ijaws are present, it is a very combustible situation. |
eku_bear:An interesting aspect of this conflict, is that some of areas where the oil was present, the people who lived within those areas fought against Biafra. Adaka Boro fought in the creeks of what is now Bayelsa State and now look what has happened to his region and his people. The defeat of Biafra paved the way for the exploitation of the Niger Delta. Igbo interest in oil were taken out of the region and now the minorities that fought against us are suffering so many horrors. It is a very vicious cycle. |
Ileke-Idi in her normal tribalistic fashion thinks we Igbos would enjoy such a conflict. No we would not. I don't know why she would insert us into this conflict. No Igbo person was mentioned in the article. This is between Ijaws and Yorubas. Leave the Igbo out of it you nkita ara. |
Becomrichn:Igbos and Urhobos are the majority. Itsekiri are the smallest ethnicity in Delta state. The Igbos will most likely vote for GEJ and so would the Ijaws. The Urhobo vote may be split. Delta state is going to Jonathan. |
Ileke-IdI:Who said I am happy about this recent turn of events? We Igbos have seen encroachment into our land by them. Some had the audacity to claim Port Harcourt, but Amaechi has taught them a lesson. You need to understand something. Such matters is not for the weak. Eku is right. A strong response is needed. You don't go into a town and kill five people and not only that, but kidnap a monarch. Retribution is needed. These militants are pushing furhter west. They already dealt with the Itsekiri. Whose next? Either way, no biggie for me. They have been contained in Bayelsa. |
eku_bear:And I hope you realize that Biafra was over oil. The North after they had finished their pogroms wanted to secede, but the British talked some "sense" into Gowon and told him that Ojukwu and the Igbos would become a wealthy nation, because of all the oil. The East remains conquered territory. However, if there is another war, which may likely happen, do not think it will be the same dynamics. The world has changed. |
eku_bear:Gbam! Gbam! Gbam! I see you are a student of Machiavelli. If the response is not swift and strong, the Ijaws militants will be back again and it will spread. People from other communities who were not being attacked also ran. That does not make sense. I would create a village militia to protect my people and my property. No one would push me off my land. |
Ileke-Idi, Your response shows that you do not understand what is happening within this region. However, that is expected of you, because you don't know what you are talking about. Why wouldn't OPC respond? Maybe you should talk to an Itsekiri about their conflict with the Ijaws. Maybe you should talk to an Ilaje and ask how they have remained a bulwark of Ijaw expansion. Sometimes diplomacy does not work with these people, if you haven't realized that. Many people and administrations have tried, none have succeeded. They do not even listen to one of their own, who has the highest position in the land. They are the most warlike people in the Niger Delta and any Niger Deltan will tell you that. |
And Becomrichn wants those people to included in a Benin Republic. All I could do is laugh though. He must not have interacted with those people. The irony of the situation. |
Goodluck Jonathan would win Delta state, because of the Ijaws and Igbo on that state. |
^^^ This is definitely embarrassing. A majority group should never run from a minority group. Especially on your home turf. |
Interesting turn of events. What will the Odua Nation do now? Is this an act of war against the Yorubas? They are kidnapping your kings! |
Becomrichn:^^^ How can you tell someone who was raised in the Niger Delta? I am from Port Harcourt. I have been throughout the Niger Delta. You cannot tell me that these maps are not accurate. Actually visit the Niger Delta then report back to me. The maps you have been creating are a figment of your imagination. My maps are fact. Your maps are frauds. |
Becomrichn, my map comes from various sources. Do you deny the authenticity of the maps from the international organizations, international oil companies and the even the Nigerian federal government's estimates? |
fstranger3: Gini ka ihe a putara? I do not hate Yorubas. There are some Yoruba posters that I enjoy interacting with. Kilode is one of them. The Yoruba chest beaters such as yourself is what piss me off. And if you think Kobojunkie is an Igbo, then think again. We Igbos have been calling her a Igbo-hater for quite a while, because she is always at odds with Igbos. I am starting to think she is from a minority group from the Middle Belt. |
