Ileke-IdI:

EzeUche, you're not really making sense, to be honest.

So you think it's politically smart for people to stick with or vote in incompetent politicians just because of FG's assistance? The State allocations that are not even being used to developed the states?

state allocations ko state hibernation ni.

It makes perfect sense. In a country like Nigeria, you will at least have people in the ruling party from you region to insure beneficial FG attention.

Nigeria has a centralized gov't so it wouldn't make sense in having a regional party at this time, nationally. Locally, that is ok, but nationally, at least you all could have kept the same PDP senators and representatives. It is as simple as that.

Nigeria cities are getting increasingly urbanized as they are going through a rapid process of economic development. The major cities of Nigeria are Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Pot Harcourt, Benin city, Zaria, Maiduguri, Jos, Oyo, Aba, Abuja, Bida, Okpoko, Bauchi, Mubi, Ondo and Shagamu, among many others.

http://www.mapsofworld.com/nigeria/cities/
Only one South-Eastern city is present.

I am still waiting for you to provide a source for your "revenue wise" comment. grin

And urbanization does not necessarily mean development. Having slm filled cities does not mean a thing.

Govt cannot withdraw federal allocation  from the SW states just because of the party. Allocations will still be given.

I know that, but some states get more allocation than others. SE states for the most part do not get much of the allocated funds.

Like I said, Ekiti state would starve without FG assistance.
Politics / Re: New Power Sharing Arrangement: Pdp’s Zoning Knocks Off South-west Zone by EzeUche3(m): 3:28am On May 02, 2011
Ileke-IdI:

Development depends on the politicians, not the party. That's why the SW voted out the incompetent politicians, and voted in  more qualified candidates (whom were mostly under the ACN party) in hopes of development. If such hope does not come to pass, we'll try again in the next election.

I doubt the SW cares for national cake anymore. We want development. I guess it's so hard for you to understand because everything is seen through the lens of tribalism for you o.

Segun Oni or Fayemi?

Fashola or Donsumu?

Akala or Ajimobi?

Bankole or ?

Iyabo or ?

Hope you understand.

Your very own state Ekiti, would STARVE if not for the federal allocation.  grin

A state that should never have been created. So I do not understand why you would say you do not need much from the national cake.

Let see how the SW would fare if did not have a piece of the national cake. Minus Ondo state, which produces its own oil.

It would be nice if the FG forced the multinational oil companies to be based in Warri or Port Harcourt. Lagos is awash in oil money, so something needs to be changed.

I swear the SW as a whole is more dependent on allocation than the SE. Only the North is more dependent on the allocation than the SW.

Politics / Is OBJ Needed In PDP? by EzeUche3(m): 3:16am On May 02, 2011
Does PDP need OBJ anymore? What does he even offer?

He cannot get his region to vote for PDP, so what use is he to PDP?

In politics, there are no permanent friends, there are only permanent interest.

And in the interest of PDP, he is not needed, because he is a liability. Hopefully, he shall be placed in the political wilderness.

Ileke-IdI:

And Lagos has been improving each day, not because of PDP. The North improved because the Northerners were in power not because of the party. Even if the Northern states were under APGA, they would have STILL improved better than SEtern states.

Me too, I like SW being in the "opposition" to be honest. Locally and nationally.  cool

SW voted in PDP as a national party for 12 years, nothing was done.  Smart SW'ners saw that nothing was done, and they voted in better reliable candidates. Just because a crappy candidate is under a broken umbrella does not mean that candidate is worthy.

Name one state in Nigeria that is better than any SE or SS state in terms of development. With the exception of Lagos, no state can compare to the level of development that is seen in Enugu, Anambra, Imo or even Abia state. Let see, which region will continue to progress.

Igboland has two international airports, a new port and industries are moving to the East. PDP is doing the East good.

Enjoy being in the opposition. We cannot have two kings in the South. Igbo ascendancy is already occurring. Now sit back and enjoy.

rhymz:

I think sometimes a lot of people over estimate the british monarchy probably because of their colonial reach in the past but un this present day, I strongly doubt if the Queen as a monarch can actually boast of thesame level of wealths of most of the monarchs in the middle east have and are still acruing as we speak. The Sultan of Brunei alone not even talking of his family empire is worth over $22billion and sits on a family empire that is worth well over $120billion, the king of Saudi Arabia for instance owns 1/10th of the world's oil reserve not to talk of the entire family's wealth, the king of Thailand is another extremely wealthy monarch.
No doubt the British monarchy is of course very wealthy too but I strongly doubt it is in the Arab leagues.
In terms of political powers, you and I know Queen Elizabeth II has powers that she dares not to use or she will see the abrupt end of british monarchy like it happened in fiji. Most of the honour and respect that is accorded her is just based on respect and symbolic gesture to preserve the british monarchy tradition. But what she says or do politically can never have thesame effect as say the Saudi king, the sultan of Brunei, the king of the UAE with respect to the internal politics of their countries and the world at large. The queen of England commands the kind of respect the Pope(whom also is a monarch by the way) commands, people are not bound by any law or constitution to follow what they say but of course they can get the world's ears.

That is true. The Queen of England is merely a figurehead. She still have power, but she knows not use it, because that would give fuel to the Republicans in England. As she stay out of politics, the Monarchist are able to still have power.

Nah dude, I don't wish to point fingers, don't let fools like Rhino 5dm force your hand.
There is much too much bad blood between the SE and SW, that singular fact is really holding the country down. That is what the core-North used to wrap the vastly more educated parts of the country around their fingers.

My heart really weeps each time I see the sort of senseless quip from seanet.

GEJ has created an easy rapport between the SS, Middle Belt and SE (especially the SE), being from a neutral ethnic group he must strive to build the same rapport with the SW and work to stop this self-destructive madness; otherwise, as soon as he's gone, we will be back under the boots of the core-Northern hegemonist cabal.

I agree with you. Many of our brothers in the SW are starting to wake up though.

We need a neutral party to help bridge the gap, between the two groups. But even people in the SW are skeptical of Jonathan. You hear the names they refer to him. And the tribalistic remarks of one of their leaders have referred to President Jonathan.

Lets see if President Jonathan can help bridge this gap, but I doubt it. Many people in the SW already view him as Igbo. undecided

Bowie man killed in Glenn Dale

By Jenna Johnson
03:50 PM ET, 04/17/2011

Prince George’s County police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Bowie man who was killed in Glenn Dale early Sunday.

Police were called to the 10800 block of Glenshire Drive at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots. Officers found Oluseun A. Fashina, 23, suffering from trauma to his body. Fashina was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Two neighbors said they were woken by the sound of at least two shots from a house near the end of their cul de sac, which is often the site of loud, late-night parties featuring live DJs. One neighbor said there have been at least two dozen such parties at the home in the past year, and neighbors often complain about the noise and traffic.

Another neighbor said he heard people screaming and rushing to leave the neighborhood after the shots were fired and police began to arrive.

A promoter for several D.C. night clubs mentioned the free “Spring KickOff House Party” on his Facebook wall on Saturday and provided the same address as the house where police responded. According to the posting, the party was scheduled to last until 5 a.m. and was to feature two DJs.
