I blame the opposition. They did not have a strong enough challenger. ![]() This vote was not rigged. The Ngwa vote was split amongst the APGA and ACN candidate. T.A. Orji gained most of his votes from Abia-Central. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-612823.0.html |
Akanbi_edu:87% of people think otherwise. |
How do Igbos think like sheep, when many political parties participate in our region. We have a flourishing democracy. |
Look at what you Anambra Igbos did. ![]() |
^^^ I agree. These people are peddling lies. ![]() |
^^^ It looks better than the cities in a region that shall not be named. ![]() |
Kobojunkie:Very poor taste. However, I will not give you the reaction that you want. |
^^^ We vote based on candidates, not party. Haven't you realized that or are you too slow? Not every candidate of a party is good, therefore we choose to vote for the BEST candidate. It doesn't matter what party he hails from. Is that hard for you to comprehend? |
I agree with the message, but dislike the messenger. |
Contrary to belief, the Ndigbo support Fashola. I do not understand why some misguided people on this thread think otherwise. No need to act like Igbos are against Fashola. ![]() |
I hope Fashola does win. Why would I not want him to win? He has been doing a good job in Lagos, even though I do not consider Lagos home. May his victory be complete. ![]() In the East, my main concern is that Chime and Amaechi are leading. Two very progressive leaders. |

Chime Ahead in Enugu Polls ![]() By Festus Owete Results of the governorship and house of assembly elections trickling in from collation centres in Enugu State indicate that the incumbent governor, Sullivan Chime, is ahead of his challengers. Though largely peaceful, the exercise was marked by low voter turnout in most parts of the state. Mr Chime, who contested on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was maintaining a comfortable lead, though figures were still being collated, at press time. For instance, in the five polling booths located in Michael Okpara Square, the incumbent governor scored a total of 1,200 votes to beat the candidate of the People for Democratic Change (PDC), Dan Shere, who came a distant second with a little over 40 votes. Osita Okechukwu of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Okey Ezea of the Labour Party (LP), Obinna Obiegue of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Valentine Nnaedozie of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and others recorded far less number of votes. Likewise, at the Government Technical Centre (GTC), the PDP candidate was ahead of the other candidates by a wide margin. Except in Udi, the home town of the Enugu State governor, and a few other places, most parts of the state recorded low voter turnout. Large numbers of enthusiastic voters came out in Udi to vote for their son, who is seeking a second term in office. Mr Chime, who was accompanied by his wife, Clara, voted at the polling unit located at Premier Primary School in his Udi/Abudu Ward at about 12:39pm. He was greeted with a loud applause when he announced that he voted for himself. At other polling centres visited in Enugu metropolis as well as in Nsukka zone, many voters stayed away. Party agents at the Ugbo Okonkwo polling centre in New Haven, Enugu, confirmed that there was low turnout, which they attributed to the long Easter break. Labour Party complaint Stating that the turnout of voters was more impressive in the previous elections, the agents revealed that out of over 1,500 people who registered in the two polling booths at the centre, only about 500 people came out to vote. Except for a complaint lodged by Mr Ezea of the Labour Party (LP) about an alleged plot to kill his party’s agents, the exercise in the state was uneventful. During the accreditation of voters, the LP candidate sent a text message to journalists alleging that the state commissioner for information, Chuks Ugwuoke, and other agents of the ruling PDP government had attempted to murder the part’s agents but were arrested by the police. He also alleged that, during the melee that followed, a call came “from above” instructing the police to free them while his party’s agents were to be arrested instead. Okezie Nwankwo, the public relations officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Enugu State, said last night that the reports the commission had received from the voting centres showed that there were no skirmishes. Mr Nwankwo added that “the results from all the local government areas would be in by last night or today.” http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5694124-146/story.csp |
Sagamite:Sullivan Chime has the looks and the accomplishments in Enugu. Maybe you should visit the state before you get upset with me. I wouldn't mind having him represent me as president. Too bad the man doesn't really like power and he shall be going into retirement after his tenure is over. That is truly PRESIDENTIAL. God bless him! Sullivan Chime 2015 ![]() |
ezeagu:Thank you! Another well thought out post. The West and the rest of the world would support a united South than a fractured South. That is why I can't understand why some people cannot look past petty differences and united against those who oppress both people. Sometimes too much pride is very dangerous. The North has been able to dominate Nigeria for so long, because of the disunity found in the South. |
People fail to realize Libya is a very tribal country. Not all of Libya is rebelling against Ghaddafi. The man has a lot of support in Western Libya, where his tribe and other tribes that are loyal to him. Eastern Libya has always been against his rule, because when he came to power, they lost in the power struggle. I swear people need to read about a country before they comment. In Tunisia and Egypt, the people were united against their despots. Where is the unity in Libya against Ghaddafi? |
Kobojunkie:It would not be first time rebel forces went against a superior force. The Russian Revolution was led by rebels who did not have military training. In Liberia, rebels were able to oust Charles Taylor. The most recent case is rebels defeated Gbagbo and Cote D'ivoire. It can be done. It doesn't matter what weapons you have. You can also use the example of North Vietnam against the U.S. and Afghanistan against the Soviets and now the Americans. |
Justcash:As people can clearly see. Over the past few weeks, Yorubas are the only ones who have been doing the bashing. It is easy to see through the section. Igbos have not even cared about most of this nonsense. That is why my new policy is to ignore them or shame them. |
They should have allowed the Libyan people fight for their freedom on their own. If they couldn't defeat Ghaddafi on their own, then it was not their time to lead. |
Tippy Top:A Southern union is more preferable than being united with the North. Go back to how we were when we were a Southern protectorate. |
These Northerners are selfish beings. |
vladimiros:They deal more with bigotry and tribalism. |
mikeansy:Ouch! |
abadaba:Why do you even bother? I keep on telling you to ignore them. ![]() |
These Kanuri and Hausa-Fulani are making this nation look like Iraq and Afghanistan. |
Three bomb blasts rock Borno BY NDAHI MARAMA Another bomb blasts occurred this morning at three different locations in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. The explosions our correspondent gathered, took place in Baga Road , London Ciki and Jejeri ward at about 6 am in the metropolis. This is coming barely 24 hours after a 3 Bomb blasts occurred at Tudu in Maduganari ward, Tashan Kano Motorpark and Kasuwan Shanu killing three people and seriously injuring 14. The bomb which was thrown in Jejeri our correspondent learnt, did not kill nor injure anybody as it landed on a grave yard before it exploded. It was not clear whether those who perpetrated the act are members of the deadly Boko Haram, even as the sect members had in a day to the elections posted a threatened letter on the their website that, the strike continues. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/04/three-bomb-blasts-rock-bornu/ |
About time. . . What took this wealthy state so long? Even Imo state was able to do it faster. |
I prefer Sullivan Chime, but he is not running for anything after his tenure. Now this man looks presidential. In a civilized society, a politician would have to have the looks as well. https://www.governoruduaghan.org/images/1048.jpg |
saintneo:And we have to make sure that the cattle didn't vote either. |
