Applied for GCMS note on July 25, but later decided on reapplying while waiting for the gcms note, since my resumption date was fast approaching and the gcms note would take 1 month. Searched the web for common reasons for purpose of visit refusal and wrote a letter of explanation addressing those common reason that may apply to me. Included in my reapplication the SOP I wrote for the MBA application, changed school to my preferred school which i had now gotten the admission letter, documents of landed properties and letter of merit award from the school.

Sorry about your delay. When your cloud is full, your rain will definitely fall. Don't give up on your dream, your rain will fall soon. joe10: Good day to the Gurus in the house and distinguished Nairalanders.
My Study permit application was refused for the second time. I was initially refused in London on the ground of purpose of visit. I put up a strong SOP to convince the VO why I would return to Nigeria after my studies. Provided evidence of personal investments, bequeathed building from my late Father, included my admission letter which stated that payment of school fee can only be done after receiving study permit and other strong points which I did not include in my first application, but after notifying IRCC of changes in my status that my wife put to bed and stated that I have made adequate provisions for their up keep I was slapped with a refusal by nairobi in two hours after sending the message. This time nairobi stated four reasons for refusal even though I took my time to prepare a very strong SOP. I do not know whether I did wrong by informing IRCC of changes in status cos I know it is mandatory to reveal such changes to IRCC so as to update your profile. I AM NOT GIVING UP YET. |

DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED All required CIC forms Acceptance letter WAEC result Transcripts BA certificate (first class) – I also got a scholarship covering full tuition from my school in Canada but had to sort my living expenses NYSC Discharge Certificate Sponsors’ statement of account with closing balance of about 300k (business account) Sponsors’ treasury bill certificates – 10m Sponsors’ CAC Sponsors’ tax clearance certificate Sponsors’ international passport data page Letter of Intent
My sponsor was my cousin so I included a family tree showing relationship and her marriage certificate since we no longer have the same last name.
I didn’t include my personal statement of account and my home ties were my two siblings in Nigeria and the job prospects that I have in Nigeria based on my course.
First, I must state that my application was nothing but a miracle. After submission, I found nairaland and based on what I read on threads, I had some loopholes in my application like using a business statement of account, not submitting my personal statement of account, and not having the usual home ties like land and other properties.
I kept praying and believing God for his grace to cover the flaws in my application and He showed up for me! Nothing is impossible with God, you just need to have faith and He will show up for you mightily.
Best of luck to other TRV hopefuls |

Sorry this is coming late. I've also been an observer on this thread as well. i was supposed to share with the house but i've been very busy lately plus i wanted to hold the visa in my hand first to see for myself..lool (because CIC people are always surprising us) but after i saw what @mackano wrote i decided to just sharing pending the arrival of my passport.
Program- MBA School- University of New Brunswick
Timeline. i applied on June 9th Biometric letter came in June 13th Biometric done June 14th at VFS Lagos Medical request August 14th medicals done August 17th at IOM ikeja medicals updated to pass August 19th Passport request August 23rd Submitted my Passport August 24th at vfs and i was told to cexpect it in 5-10 working days of which im currently waiting for at the moment

BSC certificate, 3. letter of sponsorship signed by my dad, 4.WAEC result, 5 Call to Bar Certificate and CV, 6. i finished uni in 2015, then i went to law school, finished in 2016, finished NYSC in December last year (2017) and as that time i submitted my application i was not working then (unlike now). All in all i forgot to submit a lot of things like police certificate and all, i did not even put home ties or submit any information on my siblings or any other thing. when i joined this thread i discovered i did not submit a whole LOT of things and my application looked watery to me and i was scared cause a friend who is an agent did my application for me for free so i was getting jittery.
But regardless i believe that it was just God that helped me out because i was already losing hope. To all the TRV hopefuls it will definitely end in praise. this last week of august will not pass anyone by. there shall be no denials or deferrals just positive vibes only. Thanks to everyone that contributed in this group, i've really learnt a lot.

Less than a month, congrats realshifu: Approval Alert! Long Post Alert Too.
I applied on July 26th online. I received a medical request August 8th, I did it the next day in PH. My medicals was updated as pass earlier today around 11am, and about 30mins ago, the approval and Passport request landed.
Msc, McGill University Documents submitted. My Sponsor is my Fiancée's Sister. I submitted her personal and business' statements of account (She is a small business owner), with a combined balance of about 13 million naira after she has transferred my estimated tuition fee for 1 year to me (1.2m). Sponsorship and affidavit of sponsorship letter. CAC documents of her business My Fiancée's and my Sponsor’s birth certificates and my Sponsor’s International passport data page (single travel history to dubai). Sponsor’s family picture of about 8years ago showing me at her convocation ceremony from the University (My Fiancée is in the picture too). My engagement dinner picture with my Fiancee.
SOP(2 pages) Resume (It shows my two research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and my current project) Statement of my long-standing Mutual funds investment account with ARM (1.4m current balance). TOEFL Result (I wrote it last year for another purpose, McGill didn't require it from me, but I sha submitted it anyway in the rush) Offer letter from McGill. CAQ approval letter from Quebec. Email approval of my Differential Fee Waiver Award from McGill (This DFW allows me to pay tuition and other fees at Quebec rate which is about 1.2m (4120 CAD) instead of International rate which is 19820 CAD). My NYSC call-up letter, and PPA posting letter (I am currently a youth corper). My MDCN Annual Practicing License. My birth certificate, University degree and Transcript. Parents' and my 4 siblings' birth certificates. My retired father's landed property and valuation (I didn't do deed of transfer). Valued at 8m. My father's RSA statement as at when he retired years ago. Balance was 4m.
I was denied Visa twice in the space of a month last year to go and present one of my research work in New York. Also, I was denied a UK visa this last May to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum as one of the youth delegates representing Nigeria at the last concluded CHOGM in London. I had another paper to present early last month in London too, however, I couldn't even dare apply for a visa again, so I begged one of my co-authors to make the presentation. He already had a UK visa. I have never travelled out of this country before as an adult so my passport is Virgin.
I didn't pay for Tuition, McGill generally doesn't allow you pay tuition until you have both your CAQ and your Study Permit.
I thank God for His mercies, as I didn't know I will be applying for the study permit until days before that July 26th. But God practically fast-tracked my approval. Thanks to @jnyuwa02 and @frankrobben for their immense contributions to this group. I arranged my documents in a hurry based on their back and forth on this thread from day 1.
If their is anything to learn from this my divine grace, is that no two applications are the same. And to always say the truth too. I explained all my visa denials and I filled in the TB part of the application that I recently managed a patient that was diagnosed of Tuberculosis under my care and I was in close contact with him as his Doctor for weeks. I didn't know how such information could have affected my application, but I couldn't bring myself to lying about such exposure while I was filling the form.
Last last, I Thank God! |

I am happy for you but don't forget God you still need Him on your journey. Thanks to your Mum too Naijaforeigner: Let me start by thanking all the gurus of this great thread, you guys rock. Thank you so much jnyuwa02 and Frankrobbn1 and the guy that made that list on the first page, God bless you guys. I make a special prayer for you today Jnyuwa02, as you have been a blessing to many People on here, God Almighty will perfect everything that concerns you in Jesus name (amen).
I started my journey late June and had to read close to 50 pages of this thread within a week.
I got all documents and applied July 10. My application to Canada was a last minute try. I had a 2:1 in business but the only school I could find as at late June was Fanshawe college and I picked PGC logistics and supply chain management (LSCM), got admission and paid first term fees.
Documents submitted - Paper Application - submitted July 10
All IMM forms
My personal statement of account - mum transferred over £16,000 in 3 tranches via an agent.
A sponsors letter from my mum - I actually wrote this letter for my mum ( I saw sample on the first page) and strongly emphasised how she has been the one who sent me to do BA in UK and paid for 4 years without owing. I made sure this letter was not more than a page and straight to the point. - Letter of explanation (LOE) from me - I detailed the course I was going for, focused on how I have had a good record in the UK, no criminal convictions and always obeyed the rules. Also mentioned how I never missed classes for 4 years and completed my studies without any issue. I stressed on how I love challenges, stating how I moved from Nigeria to UK alone (culture change, new people et al) and how I would love to try a new challenge in Canada and try education over there and then concluded with, once I am done with the PGC LSCM in Canada, I would come back and take over my mums company. p.s my mum owns a company in Nigeria.
I wrote my LOE myself using the sample on the first page and then sent it to my brother who is a PHD holder to proof read for errors. I Told him I am satisfied with the content all I needed was proof reading for errors. If I remember correctly, I made sure my LOE was not more than 600 words.
- birth certificate, my passport page, mothers passport page, C of O of my mothers house, CAC documents for my mothers business, proof of payment of first term tuition fees, BA certificate, transcripts.
All these documents were photocopied and no original was collected at London Canada VFS office.
- no medicals (not needed for applicants in UK) and no Police certificate.
The things that scared me were;
(1) I forgot to explain the lump sum. I honestly cannot tell how I forgot to explain this after reading this word for word before submitting my documents.
(2) Difficult convincing the VO in my SOP why I would be leaving UK with a 2:1 with the option of doing masters here in UK in a university but decided to do PGC in Canada when the fees were almost the same? To make matters worse, the course is a very common course in UK in almost all Universities. Infact, my application was screaming this guy wants to run away.
(3) I am a matured student - 31 years.
(4) I also forgot to show my USA visa (still valid till Dec 2019), Dubai stamped passport page.
After I submitted, I fasted day and night for at least 9 days. I have never fasted more than a day in UK in my 4 years of being here. This whole process taught me many things I will never forget.
Finally let me say this, on 10/08/18 (Last week Friday), I listened to a convention online by Pastor EA Adeboye and once he was done with his sermon, he asked everyone to stand up for prayers. Just before he asked people to pray, he paused and suddenly said "the lord said there is someone here, that one breakthrough you need for your joy to be full, receive it. Something in me told me that word was for me, I jumped up, claimed it and kept on praying with it.
I sincerely pray for as many that are still hoping on God for their visas, your joy would also be full before this month runs out if you believe. this whole application is just Mercy of God. p.s I am not saying don't put in work, put in maximum work, put all documents and then pray.
Thank you to wheyme, galala123, lagos2canna, bismo, ezriela, mightyola, shizzleadedapo, bbclue and every other person. I am so grateful. |

This people make racist decision towards our application sometimes..
This is my second attempt.

SOA of account of over 35k US dollars, sponsors are brother and mother.
Brother is a professor in a university in USA with 35k US Dollars Mother’s SOA of 4Million naira. Paid first year full tuition fee of 9,000 CAD Honestly I am tired of this people.. I don’t know if I should change school, or change my program to PGC.. can’t go for a masters as I graduated with a 2:2 from Engineering.
Mehn this stuff is not about the SOP you write, it just God’s favor.. My SOP was written by a top professor in the USA who happens to be my blood brother and with the help of some gurus here too.. |

Hello Teslim,at this juncture just keep praising Him for the request of your passport that is coming next week. teslims: Hello Guys,
I will leave the long story for the other day, which I will hopefully share with the house when everything has fallen in place.
I applied online on May 15 and I opted for upfront medical in week 12 (August 03) when no progress was being made so as to avoid delay when I get medical call-up. I sent my upfront medical information sheet to Accra through CSE on August 07 then I got medical request on August 08. I sent emails to Accra, Lagos and London since then but nothing has changed on my profile.
Kindly advise me on what to do next?
Thank you and may God bless you all. |
