RomanceRe: Wud U Allow Ur Rich Future Father-in-law Arrange Ur Wedding? by fabiyi: 3:04pm On Dec 21, 2007
Hi iice,

You are talking like a woman. Oh better still, are you a Nigerian? if you are one, you will know that it is a taboo in Nigeria traditions for your in-law to do your wedding for you. There are so many ways in which Father or mother-in-law can contribute to the success of one's wedding.

I think, it really has to do with the couple involved and how they want their home to be. Your mother/father-in-law can give the money to their daughter and the couple will sit down and decide on how they will spend the money not that the in-law will give them the list on how they want them to spend the money. This time around, it is an assistance or gift.

This discuss should not be limited to father/mother-in-law alone, as for me, no one on earth will finance or dictate how I want to organise my wedding for me even my dad, mum and siblings cannot.

I still do not understand, how can a man wake up one day and start planning for wedding without having enough money in his pocket. Does this happen in Nigeria? I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!
RomanceRe: Why Do Girls Think That Bankers Are Flirts? by fabiyi: 8:47am On Dec 21, 2007
Hello people,

Being a flirt is not a function of your profession but it is a subset of whom you are. Really, to the glory of God, this is my third bank now and I have not experienced such. Every girl wants a better man that can sigle-handedly meet her needs in all aspects and no girl anywhere in the world will want to marry a man without a good source of income.

As far as Nigeria is concerned, I hope you will agree with me that banking sector is the highest employer of labour today and the third paying sector ranking after oil and telecommunication respectively.

Back to your question, WHO IS A BANKER? A banker is somebody who has successfully completed and passed the final examination of The Chartered Institute of Banker of Nigeria (CIBN) and the person is being addressed as an 'ACIB' or "FCIB". That is, chartered Banker.

For other people that are working in the bank but they are not chartered, they are being addressed as BANK STAFF whether you are a cashier, security personnel, contract staff, permanent staff of a bank, you are not recognised as a banker untill you are chartered. It is just like a law graduate who has not gone to law school and not being called to Bar. Ofcourse, the person can work in the court but not yet certified as a lawyer.

In fact, with the latest enactment of CIBN Act, a person who is not chartered will soon be shown the way out of the bank as the person cannot head strategic position in the bank and most of them will soon be frustrated out of the industry. It is just like a university lecturer that does not have a PhD. So tell me, can he become a professor? No way!

I am proud to be a Chartered Banker and Accountant (ACIB, ACA).

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
FamilyRe: How Much Money Should A Lady Contribute towards Family Upkeep? by fabiyi: 5:23pm On Dec 12, 2007
I am a man.Biblically, A man must provide entire needs of his family. But realistically, the economic situation of Nigeria and any other economy in the world does not permit a man to provide solely for his family needs.

I would advise any woman who wants a peaceful home to always be by her man side in all areas. Bot I would not support the idea of a man looking unto his woman for the family up keep.

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!

What gives you impression that the guy has not changed or truely love you? ladies in the house, you guyz use to say that men are bad and unfaithful, how would you describe your above advice?

RomanceRe: What Does This Message From My Boyfriend Mean? by fabiyi: 2:24pm On Dec 10, 2007
The meaning is this, the guy is very sad about the way you left him and He was the type that love babe sincerely.

Also He's a guy that can't believe that a lady can dumb him without noticing. Finally, he find it very hard to forget about your past memories. Maybe, he still loves you. But if giving a chance, he will show you pepper.

RomanceRe: Get Married To The One You Love Or The One That Loves You. by fabiyi: 1:55pm On Dec 10, 2007
hi eclair,

My frank advice to ur friend is that he should not be deceived by physical appearance and merely fake look.

Take it or leave, your friend is still swimming in the ocean of an ignorance. This is because here is a poor lady dying for you and ready with all what she has to give you her life and you are still chasing a shadow (girl B). is it a crime for one to love sincerely?

Look marriage is not 1+1, it is far, far beyond that. I will advise him to really come up with his ideal wife and take it to God in prayer for perfect direction.

Base on what you posted friend, I believe the girl that love you( Girl A) will be a better house material because I can see lots of good qualities of a good wife in her.

I observed also that your friend is a play boy and easily deceived with frivolious things. Man becarefull oo.

Please think about that.

Great!!!!
RomanceRe: I Caught My Girl In Bed With My Brother by fabiyi: 12:32pm On Dec 06, 2007
freind,

wot a bitter experience! Anyway, to hell is human, forgiveness is divine. Please you need to forgive them ( your bros and babe) but I will not succumb to dating the girl again unless you guyz are not going to marry each other.

If you eventaully continue the relationship and you guyz got married, the marriage will eventaully pack-up. first, it will keep on coming to your memory and then you won't be happy with her.

secondly, the whole world have heard about it definitely is no more a secret thing. You need to remember that your life pattern will change as she not be capable of her free will and she will be living at your mercy whichis not ok for a good relationship.

please and please brings your bros back but do not give him a chance in your relationship again and even when you are married, you should know how you receive him in your house because his desease is a thing of mind and it is in his blood.
Ore, be warned!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers.
RomanceRe: Dose Love Has Anything To Do With Religion? by fabiyi: 11:46am On Dec 06, 2007
Hi my dear,

my candid advice to your friend is for her to stop this nonsense issue of tribe, tribe. With  level of her education, I believe she needs not to be living in an unnecesaary bondage.

How is she sure that a man from her tribe would give her happiness or will take good care of her if she eventually got one.

Let me share my experience with you. During my youth service in kogi state, I met a lady who was in her final year then and we were deeply in love that we could hardly leave without each other. But during this period, her parents never wanted me for no other reason than I am a Yoruba man while she is an Igala girl. I tried my best to talk to the dad but he remained unchanged. The pressure was soo heavy on the girl that she had no choice than to follow her parents advice despite my state. They eventually succeded in getting her a guy and they cutted for some months before the guy started treating the chicks like a slave and eventually dumped her.
Now the babe has finished her youth service for a year now and ripe for marriage. One day, she sent me a text reads, " I have not been myself since all this while, would I leave a fulfilled, complete and peaceful life if I did not share my life with you? I have lost appetite on this."  To the glory of God I am ok now with my bank job. Though, I still like this babe but and but, we can't just get marry again because if she could leave me for another man despite she claimed to love me, I am of the opinion that if giving a second chance, the worst is looming. Or would her parents be happy with our marriage?

On a final note, please let your friend borrow a lid from my experience as God is love and love neither come from man nor from any tribe. let her seek the face of God for a good husband because marriage is far and far more than that.

cheers!!!!!!!!!

Hey muyiwa,

I did not even finish reading your ordeals before I got hangry. Anyway, that is just by the way.

Please for crying loud clear, this babe is nothing but a bounce of flirt that does not deserve a cool and an ambitiuos guy like you. My candid advice is that you should leave her or even run away from her and delete her from your memory completely before you run into unrepairable trouble.

Freind, don't get lost in love, use your brain and move on up with your life because I can tell you categorically and without an unequivocal language that this babe in question will continue messing around if you eventually end-up marrying. Please borrow a lid from a married woman sleeping with her brother-in-law.
all you need to do is to concentrate on your studies and see how you can graduate with better grade that will earn white colar job.

Please and please be warned. All the best.

As for your previous request, I agree with you hundred percent that you should not go for an holiday to avoid any unavoidable. Better still, you guyz can go to somewhere like eatries, beach or any park that you can be secluded but not too far away from where people can sight you.

majority of us (guyz) have little heart to withstand pressure and we get crazy when it really done on us.

Good to hear more of that from you.

RomanceRe: Am I Expecting Too Much From This Relationship? by fabiyi: 12:52pm On Dec 03, 2007
Hi telltoo,

If you are the person in question, i guess you guys need to apply more maturity in sorting things out. To my utmost surprise, the contributors so far have fogotten to realize the fact that courtship is designed purposely for two different people to get to know each other and to aclamatize with each other ways of life. Well, my candid advise to the guy is that you should at least take it slowly as ladies of today only appreciate what they see at their very hands.

let me share my personal experience with you, I like surprises, i mean getting someone un aware most especially when I am taking up a big project. Not informing my babe. This does not hinder my true love for her by not letting her know at the begginning. We used tohave little problem over this as she always felt otherwise, may be consider herself not totally in my heart by not telling her my plan before it materialise. Your man maybe somebody like that, so you need to understand his plight and don't forgat that he his human and needs to be advised. Remember, all that glitters are not gold. Cheers!!!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Its Madness by fabiyi: 5:12pm On Nov 29, 2007
Fabulous 10,  This is a very serious issue which I think affects all and sundries.

Honestly, Nigerian Employers feel like God because of the state of abdject poverty, penury, hunger and gross unemployments in the land. So, we can't really blame them because the so called our leaders have no focus and they are just bounce of criminals that desire death penalty by hanging.

Imagine thousands of jobless graduates with good grades and sound minds roaming about. You have no choice than to take other available opportunities around you. Man, all thanks to banking sector that is employing more youths if not,  WORSE would have been happening. In fact, anytime I think about this country, I cry uncontrollably for the future of the incoming generations. So, let's keep on praying for God to deliver us from the hand of this heartless set of people. Amen.

Cheers!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Oceanic Result Is Out! by fabiyi: 5:15pm On Nov 13, 2007
Hi friend,

Being invited twice for the same test is not impossible. firstly, it may be that many people passed the previous test and the organiser is of the opinion that there was possibility of examination malpractices and in order to beat that, another test may be staged for the candidates with high scores.

Secondly, it may be error of omission on the part of the HR in detecting whether one has been invited for the same test before. That is power of God's luck.

Thirdly, may be the person failed by marginal mark and HR decides to give him/her a second chance.

Finally, it may be the person applied twice and the bank data base carptured the two entries.

Have I answered your request?

Bless you.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Banks Employ Hnd Graduates? by fabiyi: 2:10pm On Jul 25, 2007
Thanks Uchetobi,
I will be on a look out for your response ASAP.

 Gettolove,

You have just made a lofty idea which I think all potential job seekers should embrace as Nigeria of today does not make any provision for any school leavers.

Therefore, it is very paramount and necessary that all youths should  buy  enterpreneurial spirits. Though, the atmosphere may not be all that palatable  with time you will be noticed!
all the best.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Banks Employ Hnd Graduates? by fabiyi: 2:49pm On Jul 24, 2007
Hi man,

Virtually all the banks employ HND graduate either as full staff or contract staff. But for you to have a better deal and placement, you need to have additional qualifications like CIBN, ICAN, MBA.

Friend, if you intend to build your career in banking sector, my candid advise to you is to go for CIBN because soon if you are not a chartered bankers i.e ACIB, you will not be employed as a professional staff in any bank in Nigeria.

I am giving you  an authentic information bacause the two upper houses have passed it, Presidential assent has been given, CBN has gazzetted it and they are only giving banks little time before full implementation. This is going to serve as a time bomb for none Chartered Bankers when it eventually exploded.

Anyway, that is just by the way, you can submit your C.v to Intercontinental bank, Oceanic, First bank, UBN, UBA, Ecobank, Sterling bank, wema, spring bank, bankphb and a host of others.

The level of discrimination today is not on HND graduate only but has been extended to University graduate with 2nd class lower.

I am not surprised, do you know  the lattest discrimination in town, NYSC discrimination. Even if you graduated with first-class, there is no any assurance that you will serve your father's land.

It is high time we unanimously fought against this unwholesome discrimination.

May God help us. Amen.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Age Limitation In Vacancy Adverts by fabiyi: 12:46pm On Jul 16, 2007
This is a garmine issues that called for a critical look. The whole system is worst and in the light of this, i think the only thing we can do now is to let the Human rights group act on it. If NLC and TUC want to be sincere, this is their war that they must fight.

Also, There are lots of  ungodly acts ranging from Casualisation/contractalisation which is nothing but a bloody mirrage that I can describe as Neo-colonialism meaning slavary in our father land which most employers are trading today. My people this may not stop untill we unanimously fight this, we cannot continue to be ravaging in the ocean of an ignorance.

No doubt, it is really saddened and it is high time we fought for our right in order to curb this unwarranted descrimination.

Please go on.  let us all go on and report them to the whole world. The lord is our strenght.

One love!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Which Is Your Bank Of Choice And Why? by fabiyi: 12:02pm On Jul 16, 2007
My best banks are in this order, Oceanic Bank, Intercontinental, First Bank, Gtbank, Ecobank, BankPB. But the only two I would like to work with now are Oceanic and intercontinental because of wot they stand for in term of being human and friendly to their workforce which most banks lack. Some of them are all about money and money.

So, that is my submission. May God help us all. Amen.

Please don't derail from the topic that says you should state your reasons. I guess is more or less an IQ test.

Cheers!

''Hi Nairaland users, how possible is it for someone with a 3rdclass work in a bank.I've just been called for a test, can i scale through or should i not just waste my time. This has really bugged me alot. Please somebody help me.''

Hi Naija kid,

The way your post sound does not look like a Third Class graduate or third class citizen.

Therefore, it is very possible and I want to assure you that you will get the job provided you can study hard to pass their test well above the cut- off mark.

Also, this will send a signal to all the employers that grades should not be used as a major criteron for inviting graduates for test.

I have said it time without number that my Uncle was a third class graduate (Ife) and he managed to do his Msc. The guy is one of the biggest guys in Halliburton, a multi-national company today.

So, why doubting your being securing a job in a bank where your on job performance is the major pivotal of your promotion.

Finally, friend, no shaking as your job has come in Jesus Mighty name.( Amen)

Cheers!!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Oceanic Bank Test: Maiduguri by fabiyi: 7:59am On Jul 06, 2007
Hi elite,

My brother, it worths more than 1,001 times to travel down to maiduguri for the test. First  of all, you need to thank God for at least they called you for the test because there are millions of people that they applied as well and have not been given the opportunity at all.

So, it is a rare privilege for you as there will be less people, low cut-off mark and lenient selection process. Also, you should try to study more of vocabulary( synoyms and antonyms, current affairs, Commerce and economics, banking and finance related questions, mathematics)

Finally, fly for the test and all the best.

Hi determined,

I am sorry if my post sound insultive to you, but I think you people should please let us rest about this issue of first class, upper, lower and HND. We have heard lots and we are tired of hearing anymore.

This is a wonderful forum met for job search not to start descriminating against one another afterall, somewhere somehow, we all have those that have either 2.2 or HND as our relations and we all need ourselves.

The issue of unemployment is a global problem and our leaders are compounding the whole matters. So let us continue praying and hope for the best.
