The Ethiopian army (ENDF) is facing heavy loses in the battles with the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF)
Today, they have lost a C-130H military transport plane after it had been shot down by MANPAD
Few days earlier, hundreds of the ENDF personnel were captured/killed by the TDF.

DubaiLandLord: There are some very powerful weapons that JuJu can't work against which were fielded against our forefathers.
Asking why Juju didn't bring prosperity and development in the days of our forefathers is like asking why is Christianity not bringing Cameroon prosperity since Cameroon become an independent country?
Asking why Juju is not helping to fight terrorism is like asking why is Islam not helping the Syrians in fighting terrorism?
Just the way I won't believe someone killed a lion with his bare hands. So juju can't fight bullet. Lol |

Why did our forefathers not use that juju to drive the germans, french or British who colonized us. Why did the juju not bring us prosperity and development in the days of our forefathers? Why is the juju not helping us fight terrorism. I beg man won't believe in something that's not working |

DubaiLandLord: Death Toll Of Ebonyi Herdsmen Attack Hits 50
The death toll in herdsmen attack on three communities of Ebonyi-Benue borders at the weekend has risen to over 50.
The Nation had reported herdsmen on Saturday morning invaded Odoke Ishieke, Obakota Ishieke and Ndiobasi Ishieke communities in Ebonyi local government and killed over 30 persons.
It was further gathered some of those killed include pregnant women and nursing mothers.
The communities share common boundaries with Ardo local government, Benue state.
Since the attack, security agents have been recovering dead bodies from bushes in the affected areas.
A resident of one of the area, who simply gave his name as Nwegede, told our correspondent that 31 bodies were recovered in Ndiobasi Ishieke, 6 in Odoke Ishieke and 15 bodies in Obakota Ishieke.
Many victims of the attack are still receiving treatment at Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki 2(FETHA2) and a health centre close to the scene of the incidents run by AMURT.
Commissioner for Capital City Development, Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who hails from the area, said over 30 bodies have been evacuated from bushes around the affected communities.
He said: “it is a very unfortunate situation. We got a very sad news yesterday morning that armed herdsmen invaded Izzi land particularly in a place called Ndiobashi and killed so many of our people.
“We quickly alerted the security agencies to come to their aid but unfortunately, the Benue state government who claimed ownership of the area could not respond positively.
“But we commend the Governor of Ebonyi state who upon hearing the incident, swung into action even though the land is in dispute and sent the security agencies to repel the attacks.
As I speak to you, over 30 bodies have been evacuated and as I talk, the soldiers are still evacuating more dead bodies in the bush.
“ I visited there yesterday and the victims narrated their ordeals but of a truth, the area is in disarray.
“People are in panic but we have been able to encourage them to complement the efforts of the security agencies to beef up security in the area so that the ugly incident doesn’t reoccur.”
https://thenationonlineng.net/death-toll-of-ebonyi-herdsmen-attack-hits-50/ What is really happening to Nigeria. A day wont pass without not less that 50 people dying a day. I really heartbreaking |

kabe1: Gripen which SAAF does not have AESA radar, there is no evidence it has a lower RCS as the JF-17 and it's engine is not better.
Both Aircrafts have very similar characteristics, the Gripen C/D is slightly better but not by much. SAAF Gripens have a ps-05/a radar, which is not an AESA but let's be sincere is ahead of the KLJ-7 V2 which the JF17 block 2 is equipped with. The issue with the SAAF Gripen is they didn't buy any long-range air-to-air missiles. I guess it suits their requirements since those Gripens are mostly equipped with short-range air-to-air missiles. On the engine, the Gripen is equipped with the Volvo RM12 turbofan which is a General Electric F404 built by Volvo. The JF17 uses the Klimov RD-93 turbofan or the Chinese WS-13A which the Pakistani refused to use because it has maintenance issues. The RD-93 is good but it can't match the GE F404 which equips F-18 flown by Kuwait and the Swiss, Boeing T-7 Red Hawk, HAL Tejas, KAI T-50 Golden Eagle, and the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk. The RD-93 consumes is less fuel-efficient and has a low life span as compared to the GE F404. But one can say the RD- 93 can survive harsh conditions especially dust and bird strikes and is also easy to maintain. |

ugo4u: It's basically the kinematics, stealth technology, avionics including RADAR type and payloads. I can't independently confirm if that JF-17 has an AESA radar, but for the aircraft to be classified as such most likely it's fitted in the aircraft. Personally I was thinking it is a 4th generation aircraft, that prolly the Pilot introducing the aircraft made a mistake. I had to confirm and was told it was actually a 4.5gen aircraft that it was a special order. I no go come dey argue with person with over 4000hrs flight time just had to grudgingly agree. My brother what the NAF ordered is a Gen 4 but it still remains the most advance fighter in west africa. |

kabe1: The Block II JF-17 and SAAB Gripen C/D are in the same class.
Light weight and 4 GEN. The KLJ-7 V2 has a range of 150 km in optimal conditions while the Ericsson PS-05/A is at 160km in optimal condition. the Thai airforce was able to defeat chinese J-11(modified su-27) in BVR exercises. Th ose J-11 used the NIIP N001 radar which bears similarities with the KLJ-7. Leaving Radar aside, there are other aspects which the Gripen beats the JF17. Anyhow we are not experts |

Covert1: The basics of that is what the fighter pilot just told you. AESA in lay mans terms simply means more difficult to counter and detect doesn't mean multi-mode doppler radar is any less effective in air superiority warfare.
The Pakistanis came up with an upper hand recently in aerial combat with the Indians. LoL an AESA radar is 10 times more effective than a mechanically-steered planar array. How can you say something which is hard to detect, has a better range in BVR mode, and more functionalities aren't better. Why are most aircraft upgrading to AESA or PESA radars. Because it provides better range, low detectability, less prone to failures, demands less maintenance between flights and is better resistant to ECM. Even the Pakistani say it themselves, the only GEn 4.5 is block 3. what more do you want to hear. The Americans or whosoever you have called are not biased because the definition of a gen 4.5 is global. |

JOSCOFELIX: j17 with nigeria airforce is being built on specification. and that was the major reason they was a increase in cost. some of you lack some simple understanding , if the former cas say the j17 is an advance version , than who are you on narialand without a military or civilian background of jet or aircraft LoL so I must be a phone technician before knowing a difference between an Iphone and a samsung eh oga. I am asking if those JF17 have AESA radars? Advance datalink? Everywhere we read, it is said the only variant of the JF17 considered as gen 4.5 is the block 3, which is not yet operational and it is still tested in China. The radar used on the JF17 block 2 is the KLJ-7 V2, which is an upgrade of the KLJ-7 used in the block 1. THe KLJ-7-V2 is still a mechanically-steered planar array antenna and not an AESA. The KLJ-7 V2 is twice more powerful that the KLJ-7 and provides more fuctions and is more resistant to ECM. We are not saying the JF17 block 2 is bad but lets call a spade a spade bro. |

Subsequent deliveries which have been negotiated for are Block 11 and 4th generation Aircrafts. Can I ask you what are the requirements an aircraft must meet before categorizing an aircraft a 4.5 Gen? Do they have AESA radars? |

Covert1: Really, are you serious, how dare you! Kabe1 just claimed on Nairaland a fighter pilot don't know the machine he is flying and he kabe1 knows better. Well thank God I have enough sense to know you have just made a full time mockery of yourself before the whole world. Therefore your assertion is not only wrong, amateurish, ignoble, ignorant but patently irrelevant and of no consequence. You can accept what works in your world to sleep.
That fighter pilot migrated from the F7-Ni to the JF-17N Thunder and knows exactly what he is saying without mincing words and I believe him totally. When you graduate first from basic flying and prove it then I'll listen to you. Right now you are nothing more than just an internet military enthusiast who is ignorant. LOL you amaze me bro. hahahah. So a pilot can't make a mistake due to being carried away by the euphoria of the ceremony. Some is telling you a the only JF17 considered as Gen 4.5 is block 3 not block 2 and you still argue. the only block 3 manufactured is still been tested. Show which article would call a JF17 block 2 a 4.5 gen aircraft. Soon you would start comparing those JF17s with SAAF SAAB Gripen.LOL |

Covert1: There's no viper killed. The NAF JF-17 is a 4.5 Gen cadre said the NAF fighter pilot himself flying it. I don't know why anyone would have a problem with that except that because it has a Nigerian tag with it. Last I checked I have no proof of you been an aviator in any measure. I'd take the word of the pilot anyday anytime. I am not an aviator but lets call a spade a spade. The JF17 block 2 is a good aircraft but it isn't a Gen 4.5. I might not be an aviator but even the Pakistanis say it.

If Pakistan should ever stand in need Nigeria as a nation must stand ready to help. Don't want to kill the vipe but JF17 is a 4th Gen aircraft from what I read in nearly every specialized forum. I guess it's the block 3 which can be called a 4.5 Gen aircraft |

Odunayaw: Come here. Don't exaggerate.
Barlow never had a Battalion. They were probably a company's strength or slightly more. Barlow as well as the men that fought side by side with him have all said the same thing. The key to their success was the massive support they had in terms of materiel (they had dedicated air platforms!), maneuverability and experience. Its the same thing going on for Cameroon with your BIR
The 72MSF was the tip of the spear and not the whole spear/blade. Let's not twist things. Now, to present times, yes, the strategy is flawed but tactics? Where is your mouth when NA is on the offensive? Bro am not an expert in military matters and I can't make the difference between a battalion and a company. The issue here is that if the NA can function the same way Barlow did, the BH would be history. But the top brass of the NA keep repeating the same mistakes and errors like in 2014 or 2015. The NA has what it takes to deal with this terrorist but mismanagement, pride to recognize failure and restrategize, and lack of a proper road map to tackle these mehem. |

Jimi24: Nonsense. Barlow is an old, generally uneducated man now getting senile. He is looking for money. Boko Haram is not a force that anybody can defeat except the Nigerian Army. It is a self healing force that is astute at hibernating. Nigerian Army should and will finish their jobs. We see how the NA is defeating the Iswap and BH. Barlow was able to regain the towns and villages the NA had lost. He created and trained one of the best battalions the NA ever had. Today look at how the NA ass is been whooped by BH or Iswap and he did it with less than what the NA spends today. NA has turned to be a shopping mall for those terrorists. NA can't defeat a foe with a 1 billion dollar procurement defence budget and you are here ranting. If the NA does not sit down, put pride aside and accept it can't defeat BH or Iswap with current tactics, it would keep losing and losing. |

bidexiii: Like I said earlier on these newly appointed chiefs, especially the Army & Airforce chiefs has to up there games. It's too early for them been newly appointed that all these are happening, my friends in the frontlines are complaining about interdictions strikes are not been carried out often has before. There tactics are not working at all, the tempo of the ongoing operation Tura Takaibango has dropped. It's too early to be judgemental but these are signs that there tactics are not working out well. # My brother, I think the soldiers on the ground are getting this all wrong. How come a base which has tanks, MRAPs with high caliber guns be overrun by men using gun trucks and ak47? Seriously it's not the airforce that would give you the courage to face those guys. When you look at the pictures, most of the time, the soldiers are caught off guard. There is no situational awareness of their surrounding, they are not even on alert knowing they are in enemy territory and most at times bases resemble a boy scout camp with no proper positioning of equipment in case of an attack. Most of the soldiers just run away when they are attacked and leave everything behind. We should remember that we are an African army, we should go back to the fundamentals of not always depending on air cover. NA isn't the US army or the French army where they can call on-air cover all the time. the resource is limited and needs to be used diligently. The high tempo of operation on aircraft cause ware down and remember every 1h a plane flies, it requires 5 to 6 hours of ground maintenance. There is also fatigue on the pilots and I don't think the NAF has that many planes and pilots it can rotate to maintain high sortie rates. Look at my country Cameroon, our soldiers fight without air cover. I don't remember the last time our Alpha Jets were used to bombard or for air cover during military operations. But the soldiers stand their ground, just the last 2 months Cameroonian armed forces have repelled several coordinated attacks of BH or ISWAP without the need for air cover. Same for the Niger Republic and the Chadians. There is a need to change strategy and adapt. BH or ISWAP has adapted to aerial bombardment and is employing new tactics. The NA top brass seems not to learn from past defeats or even try to develop and implement new tactics learned from these huge losses. Buying new weapons or jets won't serve anything if the tactics or strategy behind isn't efficient. Those new requirements would end up destroyed or captured as we can see. Resources are supposed to be channeled where needed cause I don't they are. Last time I was reading here on how the Nigerian Navy needs new frigates with anti-ship missiles and others. My question is it essential, why spend such when if there is no need. The Nigerian Defence Ministry needs to know its priorities. |

Seriously this is getting out of hand. The NA is just giving up weapons I think other armed forces in the region dream about. How can you have such a defense budget and such arsenal but yet keep having your ass whooped up by guys with sandals and AK47. NA has become a mall center for those guys.look at MRAPs just delivered this month is already in BH or ISWAPs hand. Those same equipments would be turned and used against neighboring nations. It's really a pity when I see what the NA has become.

ugo4u: I'm not one of those that just throw big words to massage our ego that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, a giant that can't influence what happens in neighbouring countries. That being said, if Buhari is begging AFRICOM to move it's HQ to Nigeria I don't see anything bad it in, we stand alot to gain ranging from military infrastructures including hardwares/softwares, shared intelligence, training, joint ops etc the advantages supercedes the disadvantages, but the reality is that the US don't give a toss about Nigeria and Africa in general. What we see as a kind of interventions in some countries including our neighbors by the US is strictly a proxy game with China, the US are worried about the growing influence of the Chinese in the continent. It will be far easier to get the Chinese military to offer support than the US, why we're not even exploring that option is what I don't still understand. If I'm at the helms of affairs I'll seek for all the help I can get, I won't mind inviting the Chinese to come establish a world class military drone base fully funded by them in the northeast similar to what the US built in Djibouti from where they can jointly operate 24/7 with our security agencies, while also building a defence industry. As for the DSS their problem lies in the ACT that established them as a department of the presidency, they were created I think by IBB solely primarily for regime protection that's why they're more interested in who insults the president or members of the ruling class than state protection, again this is one of the reasons we have bin the 1999 constitution and come up with a workable document. I don't see a US base in Nigeria. Either Ghana, Senegal, Chad or Djibouti. |
