Politics / Mimiko Emerges Chairman Of PDP Governors’ Forum by fako1(m): 6:40am On Jun 17, 2015
The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Rahman Olusegun Mimiko, has emerged as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum. Mimiko was elected on Tuesday night at the inaugural meeting of the forum after the May 29 change of power.
The meeting was held at the Secretariat of former Governor Jonah Jang’s faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum in Maitama, Abuja.
The new Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum succeeds former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio, who is now a serving senator. The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, confirmed this to journalists at the end of the meeting. Ikpeazu stated that Mimiko was the unanimous choice of all the PDP governors present at the meeting.
The Abia State governor, while speaking further on the outcome of the meeting, disclosed that the governors frowned at the relocation of the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal from Jalingo, Taraba State to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. He categorically stated that there was no justifiable reason for the relocation.

According to him: “The judiciary in Taraba State is in session, so there is no reason for the relocation.” The Forum, he added, also congratulated the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, and his Deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and his Deputy, Yusuf Lasun, stressing that their emergence was an indication of the confidence repose in them by their colleagues.

The governors however kept mute on the ‎fate of the remaining members of the PDP National Working Committee since the resignation of the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
The meeting, which was scheduled to start by 7pm, did not start until about 9.30pm on Tuesday night. Present at the meeting were Dr. Mimiko, Captain Idris Wada of Kogi State, Dr. Ikpeazu and Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
Also in attendance were; Governors Dave Umehia (Ebonyi), Diarus Isiaku (Taraba) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).
The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral John Jonah, represented the state governor at the meeting.

its so shocking that the APC could fall into such an obvious trap. The nemesis of the PDP began with 'imposition' of candidates. Didnt they learn from that?
How do you try to FORCE a leader on 'equals'? They
should have just let the legislators canvass their colleagues and let the most accepted emerge. If the party was particular about zoning, they had two months to sort that out within their ranks. I expect the same thing to play out in the House of reps.
moreover, PMB is focussed on what he came to do, and was wise not to be distracted and rubbished by the legislators internal affairs. The Assembly did a lot in the 7th assembly to break away from 'Executive Interference'. It would have
been foolish of PMB to want to draw them back there.

Career / Angry Ghanaian Surgeon's Letter To The Spanish Embassy by fako1(m): 12:38pm On Jun 05, 2015
A facebok friend "Mazi Bugie Okhuemoi" shared this on his facebook page about how a ghanian surgeon reaponded via a letter when denied spanish visa.

This is one of the most inspiring things I have read this
year!
Reminds me of something I heared Prof. Binitie-the
globally renowned professor of psychiatry told someone.
In obvious anger at the person's disrespect, he said
" Do you know who you are talking to? I am professor
Binitie. If I declare you are mad, no one else in the
world will tell you something different"!
Lol. *let me state that I cant authenticate the truth
about that story. Na person gist me...and you know as
nigerians dey pepper and salt gist*
How do I follow up on this matter? I can pay a milion
naira to know how the embassy responded.

Angry

Below is the letter

The Deputy Head of Mission
Embassy of Spain
Accra, Ghana
26th April 2015
Dear Sir:
I applied for a short-term visa to attend a medical conference in Barcelona from 26th April to 29th April 2015 and by your response dated 22nd April 2015 I had been denied an entry visa to your country. As was written in your rejection letter, I have an option of lodging a contentious-
administrative appeal at the High Court of Justice of Madrid (Spain) within a two-month deadline counting from the date of serving. Since it is nigh impossible for me to get myself to Madrid and lodge my appeal I have decided to personally
write to you for some clarification.
The reasons for denying me an entry visa were that the information regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable and also that my intention to leave your country before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained.
I know it is your prerogative to decide whom to grant a visa to but I feel personally insulted for the reasons you have given for the denial.
I am a highly trained orthopedic surgeon with specialty interest in orthopedic sports medicine and complex joint reconstruction. I have been a doctor for the past 20yrs. My current positions are:
1. Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the KorleBu Teaching Hospital.
2. Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School
3. Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons
4. Consultant for West Africa Rescue Association WARA. (I treat patients from the expatriate and diplomatic community including quite a number from Spain) I am sure if you were to injure yourself, am the most likely surgeon that you will
be referred to. I have attended medical conferences in Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan, Canada, USA
and Norway. Incidentally all these countries found my purpose for travelling justifiable except you. The letter of invitation I presented to you was written by a renowned surgeon in Madrid who trained in the same institution as I did in the United States. But I guess you did not find a letter
written by such a person credible enough.
I find it laughable that you think I will not return to Ghana and end up as an illegal immigrant in Spain where people of my skin tone are treated as second-class citizens. I have a wife and children whom I do not intend to abandon. Although I do not consider myself wealthy, I am very comfortable economically and have investments in
property and other assets in Ghana. How did you
ever come to the conclusion that I was a flight
risk?
May I kindly remind you of some basic facts about
your country?
1. The unemployment rate in Spain presently is
25% and youth unemployment tops 50%. Why will I
leave a stable job and to go and join the
unemployment ranks in your country.
2. From January 2009 to end of 2013, 400,000
Spaniards emigrated to look for work outside of
your country. And this is expected to rise in the
coming years.
3. Doctors in Spain are the least/worst paid in the
whole Euro zone. Why will I want to go work in a
country where my counterparts are leaving in
droves for economic reasons?
4. In the year 2012, it is on record that 2405
medical doctors applied for certification to work
abroad, according to The Medical Spanish
Association – a 75% increase compared with 2011.
83% of doctors seek jobs in Europe (mainly the UK
and France) and 7% America.
5. In 2009, the Health Ministry warned that there
was a shortage and that the country needed
around 3,200 more doctors. By 2025, at the
present rate the shortfall will be around 25,000.
The Spanish government has talked of increasing
the number of university and medical school
places, as well as making it easier for overseas
personnel to work here.
Sir, as a representative of the country of Spain
you have failed woefully in your responsibility to
promote the interest of your country by denying
me a visa. My skill, knowledge and experience will
be invaluable to the Spanish people even if I
decided not to come back to Ghana. Furthermore
my budget for this conference topped € 5000. This
is the amount of money that would have been
injected into the Spanish economy in a week. Can
you imagine the economic loss if all the doctors
from all over the world attending this conference
were denied entry into Spain? I was due to
present two papers and since I was not able to go I
have informed the conveners of the conference of
my inability to attend. This is an international
conference and can you imagine the
embarrassment your compatriot doctors will feel
when it is announced that I could not present my
scientific papers because you denied me a visa?
Never mind that I cannot get a full refund for my
ticket and my total booking for the hotel is not
refundable.
Given the reason for visa rejection, a detailed
explanation on which aspects of my application did
not provide sufficient evidence that I will return
to Ghana is most welcome. I am particularly
curious to know of the lofty economic standards
set for Ghanaians to visit to Spain when Spaniards
themselves barely meet these standards.
Yours truly,
Dr. Agbeko Ocloo MB.ChB FWACS
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Politics / $20billion Mismanagement Fund; Ask Your Governor By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye by fako1(m): 4:15pm On May 27, 2015
The columnist, an indigene of Ekiti state; yesterday, decided to tell Nigerians to ask their governors. He posted this via his facebook account "Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye" which goes thus;

Many Nigerians including myself have been fooled for too
long. When Governors accused NgoziOkonjo Iweala (NOI) of
mismanaging $20billion excess crude oil fund (ECA), I
marveled. I asked myself that "why did Jonathan allow
this woman to wickedly mismanage our common wealth?".
I never knew the Governors were lying to Nigerians.

In swift radar, NOI said she would not allow supposed
men of integrity be feeding Nigerians with falsehood,
hence, she opened the can of worm. She exposed what
each of the governors got from ECA and sure-p.
NOI said the $20bn was shared among the three tiers of
government from June 2011 to June 2014. She said a
total of N2.92trillion has been distributed to 36 states
from the Excess Crude Account.

She said ECA balance as at May 2015 is $2.07BN, not
N0.00 as claimed by the Governors.
My State, Ekiti got N46billion from Excess crude oil
account within three years. N46billion plus the regular
monthly allocation from Abuja, grants and Internally
Generated Revenue, yet, gbese plenty.

Country people, Check what your Governors have collected from ECA. Ask questions from your governors.
Don't just be demanding for how federal government
spends its share. You should be more concerned about
your states and local government areas because they are
the closest to you.

Politics / How Time Vindicates By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye. by fako1(m): 3:56pm On May 27, 2015
Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye posted this on his facebook account this morning. What's your opinion on it?

How Time Vindicates

First: When Asiwaju Segun ONI was governing Ekiti State,
I and many youths were made to believe by supposed
Mentors that the Ifaki-Ekiti born Engineer turned
politician represent fraud, sleaze and corruption.
We were made to believe that ONI is a pathological thief
that no man of honour, integrity and dignity should
identify with. I was very rooted in ONI must go project
then. I used to consider my friends supporting his
government as anti-ekiti development.
However, those who tutored us against ONI then are now
the one celebrating him. They have recanted. Today,
time has vindicated the few that were supporting Oni
then.

Second: When Jonathan led federal government removed
fuel subsidy in January 2012, I kicked. I cursed many
friends that supported the policy. We grounded Nigeria
with mass actions. Over 2000 people followed me on
Facebook during the anti-subsidy struggle. All the excuses
given by government agents were rebuffed. Revert to N65
was our stand.

However, we never knew that some politicians
masquerading as Activists and supposed Mentors to the
younger generation that were leading us knew the truth
but chose to kick against the policy implemented to better
the lots of the common people, preliminary challenges
notwithstanding.

We were made to believe that removing subsidy would
shut down common people. We never knew that Subsidy is
pro-capitalists! It is a policy that increases the wealth
of those in charge of economy and market at the
detriment of the common people.
The opposition capitalized on the ignorance of the vast
majority of Nigerians and the failure of federal
government to sensitize Nigerians on the benefits and
demerits of the policy.
We tagged pro-subsidy elements VILLAINS while anti-
subsidy supporters were regarded as HEROES and
HEROINES.

Take for instance, over 20,000 Nigerians followed Nasir
Elrufai on twitter during the anti-subsidy struggle.
Elruafi rode on the ignorance of Nigerians to stardom.
Today, Elrufai is the Governor-elect of Kaduna State.
He became the friend of the commoners? during anti-
subsidy struggle.

Another anti-subsidy hero? Dino-Melaye is now a
Senator-elect. Shehu Sani who led the common people to
shut down Kaduna City is now a Senator-elect. Highly
experienced Opposition politicians that we thought are
Activists knew the truth but they refused to tell us
because of their strive for power. We were cajoled.
Today, feelers from the camp of the incoming
government indicates that fuel subsidy might be removed before by January 2016.

Now, I believe that two ethnic groups exist only in political
economy-the RICH and the POOR. The interest of the
RICH is to use all means necessary to get power and
accumulate wealth while the poor serve the rich.
I want to declare unequivocally that we (common people)
were used by the rich in the opposition to dethrone the
rich in the now demystified ruling party.

Meanwhile, time has vindicated those who supported the
removal of fuel subsidy that the majority of Nigerians
thought it was an anti-masses project meant to drag
them into disdain, perpetual slavery and economic
stagnation.

Country people, let me conclude by stating that Majority
is not always PROPRIETY. Always interrogate public
consensus dispassionately (apologies to VIO).
MAA 2015.

Politics / Re: Mu’azu Met Tinubu Before Ekiti Gov Poll —fayose by fako1(m): 12:47pm On May 12, 2015
temitopeajayi:
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, was not totally committed to the party during the elections, claiming that Mu’azu even had a secret meeting with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Fayose said this during a programme on Channels TV titled, View from the Top, on Monday.

He said, “Shortly before my election, he (Mu’azu) was to see me and I waited for him in his house for about five hours and then he came out to say he was sorry and that we should give him space. He said the Yoruba people should give him some space because he was expecting someone who did not want to see any Yoruba man.

“I left his house but kept a tab on him. His house is like a ring road and I came back to find out who had come to see him and the person was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. That is the truth. When I returned to his house, he told me that I should not be annoyed that it was Tinubu that came to visit him.

“I was worried because the Ekiti election was just five days away and I almost lost my breath.”

Fayose stressed that Mu’azu was not committed to the party as he was often absent when the party needed him the most.

He noted that the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, won the presidential election because Nigeria wanted a change.

He, however, argued that Buhari garnered a majority of the votes in the North because the people of the North felt it was their turn to rule and President Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the South, should not have been in power because the late President Umaru Yar’Adua did not complete his tenure.

Fayose said despite Buhari’s massive northern support, the PDP should have been able to get more than 10 per cent of the total votes cast in Bauchi State.

He wondered why the PDP failed to get up to 10 per cent of the votes in Bauchi State despite the PDP having a sitting governor, a minister and the national chairman as indigenes of the state.

He said, “The day the presidential election held, the chairman was not in the country. On the day the names of our candidates were to be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, our chairman was in Lagos, on his way to Singapore.

“I was with President Jonathan on that day and I told him to call him. The President did not know that Mu’azu was in Lagos on his way to Singapore. Even when he travelled recently, he said he had a problem with his left hand and wanted to travel abroad for treatment.

“However, he called some people and told them that he had deceived the President. You must be consistent in character. I am saying everything on camera; let him come out to deny these allegations. I don’t want to be in a PDP where we have betrayers of all sorts.”

While reacting to the Ekiti ‘rigging tape’, Fayose said it was his voice that was recorded on the tape but argued that it was edited in such a way that could mislead Nigerians. He also noted that the then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, was part of the meeting.

Mu’azu, however, denied ever meeting Tinubu. He further advised Fayose to concentrate on governance and leave him alone.

Mu’azu, who considered Fayose as a younger brother, said he was not interested in exchanging words with him on the pages of newspapers.

The PDP national chairman who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media, Tony Amadi, said, “I will advise Fayose to concentrate on raising the Internally Generated Revenue of Ekiti State so that he can pay workers’ salaries and deliver the dividends of democracy instead of dissipating his energy chasing shadows. Tinubu has never been to the chairman’s office. I don’t know where he got that from.
